Absolute joke prices. Living in Brighton I’m not naive when it comes to the price of things but £7.45 for a pint of bang average IPA (Siren) is taking the proverbial piss. It’s no small wonder the pub is empty. I notice the Steak has jumped up £4.50 virtually overnight. Once a fine pub, needs a refresh the decor is looking tired and the Dark star beer pumps on the wall when you no longer serve it make no sense. Resting on its laurels needs new ideas.

Ate here last week with my partner and we were both very impressed. We are both chefs so not that easy to please. We opted for 3 small plates and some truffle cheese fries. The cod, hummos and bread and the Scotch egg with chorizo. Presentation was a 10/10 Absolutely delicious and nice to see some variety from the normal pub fare. Definitely will be going back to try the other dishes on offer. Staff were friendly and welcoming and a good wine selection on offer. PPT could well become our new favorite local. Xx

Not great today. Booked for 6.45pm party of four for a roast. Found only three lamb left, no beef and only chicken and pork left on the roast menu. Potatoes were like bullets, Yorkshires were overcooked, and I had cooked wasp in my dinner (which they refunded). Expected better to be honest. What a shame. The wasp also meant our other diners were hesitant to continue eating.

I've been to the PPT loads of times, but today was a shocking reminder of how outrageous the prices have gotten in pubs, and the reason why it is becoming increasingly difficult to justify visiting any. Ordered a pint of local ale (£4.75 - very fair price), 360 Brewery, which I know well and is fantastic, and a pint of Diet Coke (£4.80 - which is utterly disgraceful, for a soft drink out of the gun - not bottled coke). I questioned it and the bar lady said "that's the price" - honestly, totally bonkers and immoral. Such a shame, as the PPT is a great pub, but if they're ripping customers that are driving, or deciding not to drink, off like that, I won't bother returning. How can a local (small batch, in comparison) ale, be cheaper than a gun-poured diet coke??? So ridiculous, it's almost funny. Have eaten there many times before and the food is good, but expensive.

Had a lovely evening meal here last week. Ate with friends. The food was very, very tasty, well presented and good sized portions. The system is that you order from the bar, which is fine. We had two courses of food, unfortunately the food took a long time to come with both courses. Thankfully it was delicious when it arrived.

The roast was delicious and is up there as one of the best in Brighton in my opinion. The lamb was slow roasted and very tender. The gravy had good flavour and the potatoes had the crispiness and fluffiness going on. Although the roast was excellent there were a couple of negatives: 1) We had to go to the bar to order drinks (which none of us had a problem with doing) however there was one guy serving behind the bar and at times there 4 customers waiting to get served drinks. It took too long and meant long waits at the bar. 2) The menu on the Preston Park Tavern's website states that the roast lamb is £18 (and other roasts were between £16 - £18). This is simply not true as when you've booked your seats and invited friends and then sit down and look at the menu, it is noticeable that the Lamb Roast is a whopping £22. Preston Park Tavern need to be transparent with the pricing on their website. I do not think it's fair to be lured into an establishment with a price one sees before hand and then forced into a corner financially once there. I thought the roast was excellent but the experience as a whole has left it short of a 5 star review.

This has always been a destination for us. Cost is high but food had always been exceptional (in the past best pub fish and chips I've had), huge range of beers and friendly staff. Today was a bit of a disappointment. One veggie option on the menu, vegan was a push. Considering this is a pricey pub in Fiveways I'd expect a bit more of an expansive menu. The veggie of our group had green veg and chips. The rest of us had fish and burgers. Whilst they were cooked well the plate was really disappointing in its finish and looked a bit sad for something priced at £17.50. As a gastropub (self titled in its Google profile) it all felt a bit meh, especially as the Heinz ketchup bottles were clearly full of "red" sauce, the hallmark of a place trying to save some pennies. The final straw was being told that the pub didn't serve hot drinks. Yes, back in the day you wouldn't expect it in a pub but now, in Fiveways if not Brighton I'd expect cold brew, let alone an oat latte. Hopefully we caught the place on an off day as I've always held the PPT in high regard and feel like they've really dropped in my expectations.

I am visiting from Canada and my family recommended this restaurant... The bloody Mary's were super good. I ordered a steak, cooked to perfection... I would recommend having it without the garlic butter on top since it added a salty taste to it, that I wasn't to keen on. French fries were great, very thick and cooked to perfection. I ordered the mozzarella, tomatoe, basil starter plate, it was a little bland, would of preferred fresh basil instead of the basil/pesto drissel they put on it. Great portion size. We also ordered the 'fried beef/ tartar appetizer. Amazing!!!!!! My family got the cod and said it was excellent. Also a shout out to Abbie for her kindness and excellent customer service. Also Faye, thanks so much for your help. You two seem like a great team. Will definitely be back. Also sticky toffee pudding for the win!

Early Thursday evening the pub was already humming. However, there were a few tables free so we sat in the corner. Unfortunately there was a table of about 6 women by the window who were obviously celebrating so the noise levels got louder and louder. We ordered our drinks and food at the bar and service was quick and easy. I had hake and prawn risotto which was exceptional and my friend had fish and chips which was not quite as good. The fish was small and the mushy peas very watery and tasteless. There was a good selection of very nice wines on offer. I had a very nice Squealing Pig Sauvignon Blanc for £6.65 and my friend had a G&T for £7. Not too expensive and we had a very nice meal although somewhat ruined by the noisy atmosphere which I suppose is only to be expected in a Brighton pub! The meal with drinks was £50 for two.

Had a Sunday roast here at the weekend at is was up there with the best. The pork was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing! Roast potatoes were crisp, salty goodness. The veg (cauliflower cheese, roasted carrots, greens, sweet potato purée) were all just as you’d want them. Great big fluffy Yorkshire - good stuff. And the gravy was thin but it packed a flavour punch and was served in a good quantity! If I could change one thing it would have been to swap out the purée for extra apple sauce, but that’s personal preference! My partner and friend were equally impressed with the vegetarian roast, however they were both slightly unsure of the veggie gravy which was orange, potentially carrot or sweet potato based. It was tasty - just unexpected. The sticky toffee pudding was really moist and flavourful! Personally I like it with a little less toffee sauce, or for it to be in a jug, but it didn’t stop us eating it all. Will definitely be back.

I live in London but love to visit Brighton, and when I do the PPT is always on the list of places I try to visit. The staff are super friendly and accommodating, and the pub itself is light, and bright, and homely, with a gorgeous little outside area. Then there’s the Sunday roast. Oh My God. I usually have the lamb which is so tender and cooked to perfection. There are so many little elements on the plate that I’ve had to stop eating the roast potato’s just so that I can finish my meal. From the delicious veg, to the sweet potato mash, the big yorkies, silky cauliflower cheese, and the little side sauces, I leave the pub happy but resembling a weeble. Make sure you book ahead as they’re very popular. I’d recommend to anyone who wants a Sunday dinner that is a cut above the usual lacklustre pub roast, it’s one not to miss!

When I read the comments under I felt I need to say the truth. I have been using this cafe for studying over two years. The staffs here are always nice and never ask me to leave. The dishes are delicious and the price of coffee is reasonable. The environment is always clean and tidy. The comments below said bad attitude or time limitation are not true. What I witnessed is a group of people who came to the cafe with their own food and didn’t order any drinks. The staff asked them to leave, so they left negative comments under. If this cafe was truly bad, it wouldn’t have many regulars, especially Brighton has many other options. I come here because of their good service, comfortable environment and the reasonable prices of their food and drinks. I do not understand how some people can masquerade as genuine reviewers and flood an honest business establishment's page with negative comments to sink its ratings.
