The king and Queen in Vale of White Horse

Saw the reviews on open table so thought we would give it a try whilst we stayed in Faringdon. We went on a Sunday so had the Roast dinner, both had the beef which was amazing. The pub was very welcoming and had a very cosy feel to it. Definitely a good find a well worth a visit.

We received a very warm welcome from the staff and the food and service were both excellent. Lovely atmosphere as well. Thanks to Emma and her team for a really lovely evening out. We will be back soon!

The welcome when we arrived was great,really friendly.We exchanged some banter at the bar,ordered drinks and were shown to our table that we’d reserved.The food was superb and the service matched it,really friendly and humorous.We had table service for our drinks too and settled the whole bill at the end including a deserved tip! Highly recommended

So good to see open again and the Sunday roast was just gorgeous, lots of side veg and sauces too. Really warm and friendly atmosphere and fab food. Also dog friendly.

Lovely country pub for an evening drink. Cosy seating, gorgeous wood burning stove and very friendly staff. And the resident dog is a cutie!

Newly refurbished and renovated throughout, gardens stylish, spacious and comfy, new bar is super inviting, lots of cosy seating and lighting inside the pub, and also a total revamp of the 7 en-suite rooms (& the addition of Nespresso machines in all of them). Plus there’s a new chef coming soon. What’s not to love? Entirely biased as the pub is run by my sister but do not underestimate this review. The King & Queen Longcot is well worth a visit (& soon!) ❤️🙌🏼

I stayed at the King & Queen for 5 nights and I cannot recommend it highly enough. Cosey, charming, friendly in a traditional British pub way and serving good food, I will look forward to coming back. The staff and landlord could not have made me feel more welcome. Attentive without being intrusive this stay for work has been a real pleasure. This was topped off by a comedy night, hosted on the premises, that was simply terrific followed by a very short commute to bed. This is the first review I’ve ever written because I think the team at the King & Queen deserve to be recognised.

From start to finish Markus went above and beyond to make us feel most very welcome. Situated very near to the Vale of the White Horse Hill, the pub B&B offers a very cosy, friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Bedrooms, clean, spacious and comfortable. The full English breakfast is amazing, fresh produce, delicious and a wonderful way to start off the day. Overall highly recommended and we hope to return soon. Thank you.

An excellent one night stay on a mid-Feb bike-packing trip. Exactly what we needed, friendly welcome from Markus and team, hearty food, a range of locally sourced beers on tap, clean and comfortable family room and a good cooked breakfast to set us on our way the next day. Cyclist friendly with an option to securely store our bikes in a locked outside shed. Highly recommended to anyone visiting the area wanting accommodation or a night out.

Took my parents for an early Mother’s Day lunch. Was amazing food. Three of us ordered the pie & one had the fish and chips. The food was hot, fresh and tasty. We will definitely visit again.

Lovely stop off that had been recommended to us. Completely lived up to the recommendation. Friendly and welcoming on our busy Friday night arrival. Our room was lovely and clean with everything we needed. Views across to the White Horse greeted us in the morning. Food was home cooked and delicious. A little gem not far off the main routes and well worth a slight detour.

Really good food was served for dinner and an excellent breakfast. My only small gripe would be a lack of parking due to its popularity.

Very nice place, kind and lovely staff, very nice room. If you want to be delt with family, this is the place to be. Even the Locals deal with you like you are one of their own. Visited the white horse as well. If i could i gave 6 stars.

Excellent 2 Visits so far. Having been here a number of times, when staying, having now moved to the area we decided to pop in first for the Burger Monday, and what a delight 😊. Marcus remembered us, we had a nice chat and 2 lovely burgers and a beautiful starter. A few weeks later and we popped in for Sunday Lunch, oh em gee. I have never seen such a big Sunday lunch, the beef was delicious, massive Yorkshire pudding and the vegetables were to die for. We certainly will be back. Michael and Tracy

24 members of a Gloucester based Rotary Club visited for lunch after a tour of the nearby Westmill Wind & Solar Farm. We were not disappointed. We had the function room to ourselves and chose a variety of main courses: steak & ale pie, Hunters chicken, fish & chips, bloody lovely sausages, roasted peppers etc. Nothing but praise for all of them. The staff were very attentive and friendly which made for a really good day out. Can't recommend this place highly enough. Thanks go to Markus and the team for looking after us so well.

The Pub and Bed and breakfast was delightful. It had a very nice ambiance about it. It was cosy and welcoming. Marcus was very friendly and helpful. The rooms where very clean and comfortable . Enorm leuke herberg tussen Oxford en Bath in een prachtige omgeving. Eigenaren en personeel heel vriendelijk, gastvrij en belangstellend. We hebben genoten van ontbijt, diners en vooral de Sunday Roast: absolute aanrader voor iedereen die hier in de buurt is. De King & Queen is ideaal gelegen voor dagtrips naar Oxford en Bath en voor een verkenning van de prachtige Cotswolds. Dichtbij kun je Uffington Castle en de White Horse bezoeken, beide overblijfselen uit de prehistorie en zeer de moeite waard. Voor de liefhebber van Midsomner Murders zijn er verschillende filmlocaties vlakbij Longcot, feest der herkenning. Kamers zijn schoon en comfortabel met goed sanitair.

We arrived a received a very warm welcome from the bar/restaurant team working this evening. Smiles count for a lot! We were shown to our table and given the menus. There is a wide range of choice to suit all tastes. As we were a table of 7 we all chose different combinations of tapas/starters/main courses which were prepared with care and nicely presented. The food was delicious and of good sized portions. The waiting staff attentive and friendly. One of our party had brought a birthday cake so we had that rather than desserts, which was accommodated by the restaurant, bringing napkins and a knife out with the cake, All in all a nice evening with family, celebrating two birthdays.

Just had a three night stay here and couldn't fault it in any way. Marcus very friendl y and nothing is any trouble to make you feel welcome. Very clean and good food. Would definetly reccomend.

Visited and an impromptu break overnight wanted to visit the Cotswold area and came across this place whilst searching, so pleased I did. Lovely place with welcoming cheerful staff that made us feel happy to be there. The room we stayed in was immaculately clean and had everything we required including complementary toiletries and tea coffee etc. We ate there on the evening having salt and pepper squid and prawn pil pil both delicious the pie we had has a main left us satisfied and too full for a sweet. We slept well then woke to a huge breakfast and tips of place to visit on our way home Thank you for a lovely time everyone at the king and Queen we will happily visit again hopefully sooner rather than later

Marcus and Danielle plus the team at The King & Queen, Longcot are pushing the standards to the max of what a country pub B&B can be. The setting is superb, on the edge of a cute 500-folk village, with an equally charming church and surrounded by very walkable countryside. It's perfect if you have a dog or if you want to work up an appetite. Marcus is extremely welcoming and amiable without crossing that line of being "too much". He and Danielle really care about the food and drink which is evident in the superb, locally sourced menu and three local ales on tap, plus the featuring of local Hawkstone lager (even without Clarkson's backing, it's a great drink to return to after a hot day out on foot). The accommodation is contemporary yet in keeping with the feel of the rural architecture of the early 1800s. Our room was perfectly appointed and comfortable. Breakfast is a particular highlight. Every variation of cooked - featuring eggs, bacon, sausage, bacon, black pudding, mushrooms, tomatoes and beans - was on offer, much of which was locally sourced. A selection of cereals was one offer. Orange juice arrived as you sat down as did the coffee (if ordered), which was excellent from a bean to cup machine. At lunch and dinner, the pub food is simple and tasty. On Monday's burger night, we had a substantial burger (normal and pulled pork) with an abundance of chunky chips , then tapas the following evening. It's not cheap, but it's decent value (£16.50 burger and chips included a pint or glass of wine) and again the menu matches modern tastes: chunky halloumi fries, salt and chilli squid, lamb kofta etc. All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable stay, which was topped off with the arrival of a local Morris Dancing outfit on our last night. Well done, Marcus and Danielle, we wish you every success. Just keep doing what you're doing.

I took mum out for a meal at lunchtime the welcome was fantastic the food was amazing the nachos glucamole and cheese was to die for, mum enjoyed her king prawns the ambience was so relaxing and our server she was so attentive to our needs, highly recommended

We had 1 night here and loved it. Communication with Markus, during the booking process was perfect, he was so kind and helpful.The staff are all lovely. Very welcoming and friendly. The rooms are all beautifully decorated and have nice Crabtree and Evelyn toiletries. We didn't eat in the evening as were visiting my sister, but the menu looked really nice. Breakfast was good. Danni and Markus came to our rescue recently, when our wedding reception venue cancelled on us with a few months to go before the big day. All I can say is that, in the end, we would not have changed a single thing about the day that we had. All the team at the King and Queen pulled out every stop and then some to ensure we and our family had the most magical of days; attention to detail and the standard of care was more than we could have asked for. No request was too much and they took such amazing care of our family during their stay. Thank you so much to Danni, Markus, Fran, Vina et al for giving us the most wonderful of wedding days that we could have asked for - you will never know how much we appreciated all that you did that weekend and in the build up. If you want a day to remember - book the King & Queen!

Great rare beef and instructions on how to retain its rareness during reheating. A large piece of crackling on belly pork, which was great. The selection of accompanying veg was superb. My only criticism being that the roast potatoes could have been a lot crispier but our chocolate lab had no complaints on that score. The gravy was to die for....really tasty!

Had a lovely lunch, baked Camembert with chutney and delicious sandwiches. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The pub has a relaxing atmosphere and I would definitely return.

Amazing food and service once more. I had the sandwiches and they were great best ham and cheese I’ve ever tasted! We were served almost instantly and the food came within minutes and was amazing in taste. My family members shared a charcuterie tapas board and loved it especially the thick cheese slices. Great pub can’t wait to come back for my fourth visit!

This is a nice pub.But sandwiches could be better. Very thin ham and very thin cheese in sandwiches. Too thin! If it had been thicker I would of given 4 stars As the sandwiches come with yummy chips and nice coleslaw.

Lovely country pup/restaurant Staff were very friendly Danni and Markus very helpful The food was 10 out 10 all food made on site, no pre cooked frozen food here. COVID rules all applied, we felt very safe. Will be using this establishment again.

We were recommend by a past work colleague to give this place a crack. Went for lunch and it did not disappoint. Good selection of meals at very reasonable prices. Service was faultless and food was spot on. The pub is clean and inviting, we would have no hesitation in recommending this establishment. We will be returning for an evening meal in the near future.

I have visited this beautiful country pub. I haven’t been here for years, but is now under new management. The landlady Danni was very welcoming as were her staff. When our food came out, it wasn’t just beautiful on the plate, but delicious to eat. I can highly recommend a visit and leave room for their amazing desserts.

The food and service was impeccable and the atmosphere was incredible. Food service came fast and the food was amazing itself great pub would definitely come again. It is under new management by Danni and Marcus which both seem like friendly personalities and this pub is a great addition to the community, cannot wait to visit again.

The worst place we have ever been the food was terrible. And there was an old woman in the pub with long black hair trying to get off with all the lads in the pub all the while her husband was sat there. We told the land lady if you can call her that all she did was slag her husband off and then said it was just her boyfriend. Horrible service horrible place avoid.

My Son, partner and baby stayed as were attending a family party locally. No heating, baby woke cryingas was cold, no hot water and failed to mention that there was a curfew so my Son couldnt even get in!! Breakfast was disgusting, watery scrambled egg on soggy toast....... don't waste your money!! Appalling!!

We were going to this pub quite regularly for Sunday lunches earlier this year until they lost their chef and stopped serving food for a while. We decided to go this weekend with our family and told them how good the food was etc but have to say we were really disappointed and the attention to detail just wasn't there as it had been before and not even sure it's the same owners. For example, 2 of us had the Chicken Liver pate but they forgot the onion marmalade and the butter was straight out of the fridge so rock hard you couldn't spread it on the bread which said it should of been toast but wasn't. 2 had the Cauliflower and blue cheese soup that was bland and you couldn't taste the cheese. Main courses, vegetable chilli nachos - they said was very average and chilli was tasteless and not spicy, Roast pork - we had to ask for apple sauce as they had missed it off. Plenty of lovely vegetables though so a real plus point there. Pudding we had to ask for extra custard as there was only a very small amount - overall we were really disappointed and sad that it was not as good as before

I stayed here for a visit to Shrivenham Staff College the following day. The owners were new and the place was being renovated. The room was great- almost brand new. The following morning I realized that I was missing a razor and they went out of their way to help. I will certainly stay there again. Didn’t eat there for dinner so can’t comment on that but breakfast was excellent.

We’ve just had a delicious Sunday lunch at the King and Queen. Lovely choice of meats, plenty of vegetables. We asked for a little more gravy, which was happily given. There was a child’s portion of roast dinner available, which suited my small appetite admirably. Polite and attentive staff who made us very welcome and fitted us in, even though we hadn’t booked. My wife found this pub on trip advisor after we decided at short notice to go out with friends for food. We received great friendly customer service from the minute we walked in. The menu was of a nice size with a good amount of options and there was a specials board also. The food was really nice and the portions were generous. My wife and I will definitely be back when we want somewhere local to go out for food. There was a nice homely atmosphere also.

I had the most amazing pork roast dinner on Sunday while passing through the area. The owners were really friendly and the staff very attentive. Great food. Would highly recommend! They have a lovely outside area and dogs are welcome.

Stu and Jill are a wonderful team and do everything to make you feel welcome. We arrived on a busy Sunday without booking and thankfully they were able to fit us in. We had the Sunday roast which was beautifully presented with seasonal veg and a vast cauliflower cheese which was delicious. We were well looked after and were made to feel very welcome, we will definitely be going back.

People were recommending The King and Queen on our local Facebook group and I can see why. I never expected such a high standard of cooking in a pub setting. Everything tasted amazing and was full of flavour. The Cauliflower Cheese was the best I’ve ever had, the gravy was rich the potatoes were crisp and the meat was cooked and seasoned to perfection. We will be definitely visiting again and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great Sunday Roast. Plus the staff are very nice and helpful.

We had a family celebration meal here yesterday. It was a great meal. The food was excellent, everyone ordered different dishes from the menu. The service was efficient and not too rushed which was perfect for our family get together.

This was the first time we had visited since the new owners took over. However we had heard good things so we booked a table for our family of four for Saturday evening.

We have been twice now for Sunday lunch and can highly recommend this delightful little pub. The new owner are doing a wonderful job reviving the place and the food is delicious. We have only experienced Sunday lunch where I had roast beef both time and my husband had the Risotto from the specials board first time followed by the beer battered haddock the second both of which he said were rally good. We will definitely be looking to visit one evening.

I recently stayed at the K & Q for the first time since Mark and Sally left so was a little apprehensive. However my fears proved groundless as the management are clearly committed to keeping the high standard which has made this one of the most popular pubs and restaurants in the area.

Had lunch a few days ago here.. We had the fish n chips, which was a great meal... the chef came out to chat with us as well... definitely a repeat!!

Wow we had a lovely Sunday roast.... roast beef and roast pork cooked to perfection and presentation was spot on, the staff were very attentive and looked after you very well they might be the new owners but they’ve got it spot-on with everything they’re doing right from the lovely premises and relaxing atmosphere in the pub to a wonderful menu That is cooked just right from one chef to another don’t change anything I just can’t understand why you’re not packed out people need to go and see for themselves how good the food is 10 out of 10 well done

My husband, daughter and I visited The King and Queen for lunch today, which was excellent. They accommodated our daughter by bringing her a balloon on arrival and had a high chair ready at our table. Upon being seated the waitress took our drinks order and quickly after our food order. The portions were an excellent size and delicious. The general service was excellent and we will definitely be returning.

Sadly closed in Dec 2018 when the previous tenants moved on. After 3 months it is now reopened under new management. The new chef is developing a menu and the team is working to regain their award winning reputation. Deserves a visit and they welcome constructive feedback. Today the Lamb shoulder is delicious and perfectly cooked and the green vegetables perfectly seasoned, however the garlic potato element of the dish needs refining. Recommend it is worth a visit.

Visited the King and Queen for lunch with my family over the Easter weekend. The food was fantastic and the service and atmosphere was also very good. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this pub to friends and will certainly be eating there again.

Four of us visited over Easter weekend, having booked a table to be sure. Despite being busy, service was good. Menu options gave plenty of tempting choices for all. Food was excellent and good value, plus a good choice of ales. We were too full to manage desserts, next time we hope!

Met friends there on Sunday. Excellent service & landlord. Food superb. (& we are foodies!) all had the best roast lamb we have eaten in a long time. Will be back even though it's an hour's drive. Go now before everyone else finds out about it.
