Visited today after trip to Kew Gardens excellent food at a very reasonable price. Ploughman's Lunch for me really superb best Ginger Beer I've tasted in a long time. Very busy but service quick and friendly. My apologies to the staff I only had card so could not pay cash. Thank you

Went to Kew Gardens for a few hours on Good Friday and decided to get a drink and some food here on the way back to the tube, never again. I ordered the Chicken & Leek Pie for myself and the Courgette Flan for my wife, both came with 2/3 tiny hard potatoes, a small piece of tomato and a few lettuce leaves with no dressing. I was hungry within 90mins. This along with 2 small coffees came to just shy of £35. When a cafeteria charges these prices you expect to be well fed, not here, be portion sizes and prices are a disgrace. At least the cakes looked decent though.

If you visit Kew Gardens I definitely recommend a visit in the Kew Greenhouse as this small restaurant is located just next to the Tube station. They have a good choice of food and drinks for a reasonable price (given the fact that it's located in the city of London). I love the fact that they prefer cash payment as for security reasons I don't like carrying around my credit card in public areas (and those who don't have enough cash there is a cash machine just a few steps away, in front of the Tube station).

Lovely little place, large portions at very reasonable prices. Just acriss the road fron Kew Gardens Victoria gate, the food is far superior to anything on offer at Kew. Lovely atmosphere, pleasant staff. This is our second visit with several years in between, we don't live locally, and nothing has changed.

Lunch was very disappointing. I have eaten here several times in the past when visiting Kew Gardens and enjoyed the food. Today the quality was poor. The pastry for the quiche was the texture of cardboard and hard to cut. The courgette and mushroom filling was a rather sloppy mix of overcooked vegetables. I thought I would console myself with a piece of carrot cake but that was very dry with a stiff icing. The coffee was fine. The cafe is a pleasant environment and staff are friendly but the cooking certainly needs to improve.

Such a tired, unloved establishment. Lovely plants but that is it. Decor is dated, plastic chairs are old/dirty, tiles are falling off the walls in the WC. NO CASH lol in 2023... staff indifferent/unfriendly. I had high hopes for the food, given the rest... it was barely edible, loads of rotten iceberg lettuce, tasteless potatoes, tiny portion of browning cheese.... I could go on. This place should be fantastic, given the great location. However, I would NOT recommend on any level.

Visited Kew Gardens for my Mothers 60th and stumbled across this lovely cafe on the way out of the train station. The food was lovely and we found a friendly cat sat near to our table who was really cute. The food in the glass cabinet as you walked through looked homemade and really nice. We really were spoilt for choice. The parents has stepped in due to staff sickness and we’re very friendly and had high attention to detail.

Ignorant of hygiene regulations. Aggressive older man abused me when I explained the quiche - which looked very good on the display - burnt my tongue and was rubbery and overcooked. Incorrectly quoted hygiene regulations as the reason for the overcooked quiche. No chance of reassessing how to reheat quiche - or ask customer their preferences? Lovely salad and potatoes - hope the staff are treated well. Wonderful location.

It’s a shame this cafe ‘only accepts cash’ and no debit or credit cards. Luckily we had just enough cash between the two of us to have breakfast. The location is great and the atmosphere inside is lovely. We ordered two English breakfast and English breakfast tea which is separate (not included as part of the English breakfast) unfortunately the breakfast only comes with scrambled eggs as default and not offered fried or poached eggs and also does not include any sausages or baked beans. The food was nice, however I won’t be returning as it’s a ‘cash only cafe’.

Would certainly never go back here ... queued for a while at the counter (you have to order there) and noticed it all seemed a bit chaotic, but then when we reached the point where you could order (it was around 1.30pm) we were informed that "because there's no chef" you couldn't order meals, only cakes etc. I complained that as a courtesy there ought to be a note at the entrance to inform people of this - at which point an elderly man emerged from the kitchen and had a go at me in a most aggressive manner. I pointed out it would only take a minute to put a note for customers and he said they were too buy and told me to leave, which I was doing anyway. A dreadful place.

We were looking for a cup of tea and a light snack after a visit to Kew Gardens. This cafe is ideally located for that. Firstly, we were disappointed to see on the menu "no sandwiches on Saturday". And slightly surprised in this day and age to spot the "cash only" sign. As we weren't sure where else to go (neither the neighbouring Starbucks nor the Gail's" were quite what we wanted) we decided to stay, and asked for two teas and two scones with butter. No scones they said, so we ordered toasted teacakes. The tea was fine. Served in a pot, so there was plenty. The teacakes had barely seen a toaster, so pale did they look. Quite tasty though. Twenty minutes later we saw two other customers being served scones. Which was galling. Was this because they'd ordered the more expensive cream tea? Underwhelming and not particularly good value. Can't help feeling this place trades on its location and doesn't feel it has to try very hard.

The two staff members didn’t greet us as we walked in not a goodbye as we walked out. The cappuccino was tiny and smothered in chocolate powder which overpowered the taste of the coffee beans. The cutlery was stained and the plastic table cloth sticky. I wouldn’t recommend this place at all. The owner just sat there talking to her staff with no effort to ask how our experience was. Appalling service and attitude. Assistant snarled I should sit down while waiting for a coffee, and a man refused to identify himself when I phoned to make a complaint. Didn't thank for one's custom either. Ignorant

The food was very salty and massively over priced. The veg tasted like it was boiled in brine and the staff also had a salty demeanour. They also don’t take card. All in all a bad experience, definitely avoid, there are so many other great places to choose from nearby.

I got the carrot cake and tea, while my husband got a coffee and the chocolate cake. While the carrot cake was very nice, my husband complained that the chocolate cake was the driest he has ever had. This cost us nearly $30NZD which is ridiculous! Not worth the cost and have never paid so much for cake and a drink before. No wonder they don't put prices on any of their food. They also only accept cash.

Worth a visit if going to Kew. Cakes are all homemade and very fresh. A bit weird how they don't accept cards but there is an atm a few shops down.

We just popped in for a coffee which was good. Sitting outside was a joy surrounded by colourful flowers. Watching the world go by. We would love to come back to sample the delicious looking food on offer.

Lovely place to have breakfast. Good quality well cooked and presented tasty food. There were also lots of cakes and pastries to choose from and the scones looked very tasty. Very convenient stop in between the tube station and Kew Gardens.

Service could smile more, but atmosphere is good, commercial cafe on the way to Kew Gardens and back from for a little treat. Nothing too special

I have been going to the Greenhouse Cafe for many years prior to my regular visits to Kew Gardens. On some occasions I have had soup or lunch and have always asked if it is spicy or has black pepper as it makes me cough uncontrollably and burns my throat. So when visited the cafe recently with a friend and ordered a lentil roasted dish ( I 've eaten a similar dish here before) and was told it wasn't spicy I was rather surprised after a small mouthful to find it burnt my mouth and was spicy so I had to tell the staff I couldn't eat it. I was apprehended for not specifying that I couldn't eat spicy food. My friend witnessed me asking twice about whether it was .. I decided to have shepherd's pie instead which I have eaten there several times before but not recently the waitress did tell me there was some pepper in it but I expected it to be eatable as I'd found it before. However one mouthful of the lamb told me there was more pepper in it than in the lentil dish.. so I couldn't eat it. Why would shepherd's pie need so much pepper or was it chilli?

Everything was great apart from the fact that they do not accept Credit Cards which could be off-putting for some.

Have been a few times now and the food is amazing, I have never had anything bad yet. All staff are very friendly and welcoming. They have loads of space to sit and enjoy you food. The little shop they have has a lot of lovely stuff for sale. Will Defo be back and Defo recommend.

Just wow! Have ordered a takeaway on a few occasion from here and it has not disappointed. The pizza is magnificent. Although the tiramisu portion is big it is too creamy and lacks that coffee hit! But the pizza will have me placing my next order soon!!!
