The Keelman's Lodge in Newcastle upon Tyne

Told we could not order food if we hadn’t booked, even though there was only one couple seated. the chef was sat at the bar having a pint, not a good look to be fair, but 20 minutes later someone wondered to the bar and ordered food. We then witnessed another couple try to order at the bar for them to be told they’d ran out of food so the kitchen was closed. Nice one!

I used to frequent here quite often for a small bit to eat and a drink in the beer garden! I popped in on Friday 28th June. For a quick drink and a bowl of chips and the service was absolutely horrendous! I arrived at approx 6pm, ordered my drinks, pint of larger and a large glass of wine. There was no wine glasses so I opted for a glass of procecco instead! The bar man went out the back for a glass and was about to pour my drink and I had to tell him to stop, the glass looked like it had been used and sat there for ages not washed it was filthy Anyways when I finally got my drinks, I asked for a menu I was abruptly told they stopped serving food outside, ok, so can we order indoors. Yes! I went outside and got my son, then went back to the side of the bar to order some food and was told again by a middle aged lady with short blonde hair who was extremely rude, they weren’t serving food outside, I told her I was aware of that and I would be eating indoors, we’ll have you got a table booked she said abruptly! My son only wanted gravy and bloody chips! You’d think they didn’t want any business! Anyways we sat in bar, which was absolutely filthy and smelt really dirty had our chips and went to the beer garden , which once used I be the place to go, beautiful tables and chairs but everything looked tired and messy! We left our drinks and went elsewhere and WILL NOT BE RETURNING!

Been ages since we’ve been, it used to be our go to place on a hot day. We Ordered drinks and meals for the kids, their dinners were excellent! Would deffo go back. But the outside area deffo needs TLC

Was very disappointed with accommodation and pub, it's in desperate need of some money spent. Staff were very stressed and breakfast was 1 lady looking after 18 people, she did apologise for delays. Evening meal was ok. But breakfast was a joke, eggs benedict, which was meant to be on toasted muffin and it was actually served on a warm breadbun. Has the potential to be so much better, had meals here in the past and they were lovely Plus side the beers are nice

Lovely pub beside the river with great food, great service and very friendly staff. Visit on a regular basis and never disappointed

Vinimos aquí para tomar una pinta después de un agradable paseo por el río. Eran las 8. 60 por 2 pintas de cerveza italiana. El bar en sí es agradable, limpio y ordenado por dentro y creo que los perros son bienvenidos ya que había algunos allí cuando estábamos. Nos sentamos afuera, la sala de estar estaba bien. Pub normal realmente. Volvería si estuviéramos aquí de nuevo.

Warm evening so decided to sit in the lovely looking garden area which had plenty of seating. Ordered food for the family which arrived hot. However, the staff did not bring the cutlery and told us we had to go and get this ourselves - partial self service along with getting your own condiments - sauces; salt etc. By the time we found cutlery etc our food became look warm. This was not a good customer journey and prices don't reflect partial self service.
