Staff did not know the difference between dogs and assistance dogs was told that the restaurant was full and was advised to sit in the bar turns out the restaurant was not full and we could of had a seat in there it was either my assistance dog or the accent that was the issue this made us feel that we should not have been there staff should not say somewhere is full when its not not professional one bit and a staff member put their hands on customers which is not professional don't think i will be coming back and the staff was at the bar drinking and not didn't see them wash hands once after touching the bin and also some of the food was not what was expected

Food was terrible! Chips were raw with one meal the other meal was mince and dumplings with the smallest amount of mince I’ve ever seen.

Love it here. Great food and good price. Also a brilliant walk for the dog in the woods and fields nearby.

We had stake and ale pie, it was really good. Would recommend. You can also take your dog if you'd rather not leave him at home.

We visited for a birthday meal. Service was prompt and meals arrived quickly. The garlic mushrooms came with a small bread roll & a side salad. I thought it was a very small portion of mushrooms for the price and mushrooms aren't expensive. I'd rather not have a salad and more mushrooms. 2 of our party had a mixed grill and really enjoyed them. I had a Thai curry with half chips and half rice. The rice portion was tiny. The chips were ok but I really enjoyed the Thai curry. The other dishes ordered were gammon with chips and a steak with chips and salad. 2 people had dessert but I can only remember the cheesecake. We found 1 person a little frosty on arrival and when we left. The serving staff were polite and efficient. The pub is very nicely decorated with twinkly lights and a nice ambience. It was busy with other larger parties. This is the 2nd visit for us & we would return.

Such a shame, but the cheese scones were very dry, we couldn't butter it as it crumbled away. But otherwise everything else was lovely, and we will go again.

Had a lovely night and the food was fab my wife had scampi and I went for the full rack of ribs.

Booked a meal here for my birthday as I wanted to try somewhere new but I like to have a play area for our daughter. The whole family was invited and easily accommodated. We initially booked to go on my birthday but I woke up to my birthday with a sick bug so had to change the date of our meal. We were initially accommodated without issue and the date was changed without any hassle at all. The place is easy to find and when we arrived, there was ample parking. Quite homely decorated, inside was welcoming, as were the staff. Prices are reasonable and service is quick. The staff made our visit even better as they were all really lovely and the Landlady was such a lovely person. The food was nice and the menu choices were spot on - the kids menu isn't just chips. There's an area full of kids toys to keep little ones entertained and it was great for our daughter. I would absolutely recommend this place and we'll definitely be going back.

Ordered an afternoon tea as a birthday treat for my 80yrs old auntie. What a disappointment! 2 small buns, egg mayonnaise was full of filling, ham was only 1/2 buttered and had 2 slivers of ham inside. Ordered a cheese scone and was given a sweet scone, 1/2 a sausage roll, 3 tiny cakes and a bit of lettuce and tomato in the corner of the box. Pleased I looked at it before I gave it to her. Quick dash to Running Fox for replacement.

Great place to go with or without kids. indoor soft play, a few arcade machines and an outdoor play area. Good selection of food.

Sunday lunch was delicious, staff friendly and lovely warm welcome. Only downside was they forgot to put the roast potatoes on our plates! Only realised at the end of the meal.

Edit - Not a place we'll be going to again or recommend. My mam took my boys after school for some food, she wasn't sure where to go and I mentioned this pub. I told her we didn't enjoy the Sunday dinner but we'd have went again to try the normal menu as loved everything else and it wasn't awful, just wasnt to our taste. So she said she'd try as thought she had been before anyway. She sent me a photo, which I've added to this review, of the ham that turned up for the create your own pizza for the kids. She won't be going back and I won't be going back. No apology, no offer to refund, she for some reason simply just showed them and asked for a new one and didn't ask for money back. The kids didn't eat the pizza, her pie was cold and on her way out she gave her feedback. I can't for the life of me understand why she didn't ask for her money back or even why the staff didn't apologise or offer to return the money for this. --- We came for the first time and although the Sunday dinner we had wasn't to our taste, I really enjoyed being here and I'd like to go again, not on a Sunday, to try something from their menu. The pub is lovely, the staff are amazing and I cannot fault what they offer or the service. We sat in the bar section next to the kids corner for our boys to play and I was so impressed with this area. The weather wasn't right to go outside but I did see a good sized beer garden with another great looking play area for the kids.

Asked about soup of the day was told potatoes and leek then brought out tomatoes and said she had made a mistake my son got roast dinner only 1 slice of meat and the gravy was served with skin in it also icecream was disappointing as was next to no sauce on that my mam could not taste it also was brought out the wrong bill thus was a family meal and was quite a disappointment

What a lovely homely place. The food was beautiful, loads of gluten-free options including a gluten-free roast dinner with Yorkshire puddings!! The food (both guten free and non guten free) was beautiful, and the staff were so welcoming and friendly. I can not recommend this place highly enough.

Horrible I got cajan chicken wrap with half cooked frozen chips dry tastless wrap with dry chicken and some sort of very sad salad on the side Husband had steak pie which he enjoyed with frozen chips not be back

Fabulous place, so welcoming and friendly. Food is great with generous portions we had mixed grill and mince and dumplings. Staff are lovely and you feel you are well looked after. Sharon is just brilliant! Beautifully decorated for Christmas with so many community events.

First time I have been disappointed, probably my fault for thinking I would get potato with my order of vegetables and gravy. I asked for potatoes when my bowl of peas, carrots and cauliflower arrived. obviously charged extra for them which is fine but I ended up with them in a small bowl too. Equating to two small bowls, one potato bowl and one veg bowl. Very suitable for a child though. Pudding was nice but unable to finish it due to limited custard, but what I had was nice. Don’t let the popularity give a false sense of success. On a lighter note my partner had a lovely meal

Dissapointed with the food on this visit, not very warm and other people sent theirs back,wasn't busy.Foot was a bit off the supermarket shelf stuff.

Visited today with a group of 23, mumix of adults and kids! The service was excellent, nothing was too much bother and each member of staff were more than happy to help, ordering was made so easy and everyone got their food quickly. The food itself was once again amazing, so to please 23 people is definitely an achievement! The beef was cooked to perfection and the gravy was delicious- and servings were plentiful! The pub itself us one of the most welcoming pubs I've visited, always ready to greet you with a smile and make you feel like an old friend!

Great value and friendly service

Dined here a few times recently and the food is quite decent. Good value for money, everything fresh, the sizzling steak is nice, as are the mixed grills, staff are friendly and it’s a very relaxed family atmosphere, children welcome. Could do with a greater selection of beers, but this is not a put down just an observation. Would definitely recommend a visit if you haven’t been before.

Wow! Where else could you buy traditional meat and two veg main courses? Most places serve the same old generic rubbish heated up in the microwave. Not the Keel Row. I had delicious liver, bacon and onions, served with two vegetable choices and boiled potatoes. Superb! Proper cooking of traditional fayre.

We popped in for a late lunch.very attentive staff,very clean.The food was just awful.My partner had the burger,not nice tasting at all.He ordered a side of onion rings,swimming in oil.I had the Chinese chicken curry.Watery,the rice was barely warm.I hardly ate any of it,which I had told the lady who had come to collect our plates.We might pop in again for a drink if in the area,but would not have food,sorry.

Came for a meal with friends. We all had different things from the menu. I am sensitive to soya and the chef came out to talk to me to make sure he understood my needs then made me a meal ensuring there was no soya present. Excellent service, lovely food

We called in Tuesday without booking and we’re given a table with no problem. The meal was first class and the staff really nice. It was also reasonable . We will be back. True value for money , tasty and very nice puddings I had a crumble and hubby jam sponge , plenty of custard .

Great experience..if you want a friendly welcome good food and good service this is the place to go. I personally would prefer more of a real ale selection but there's always Brown Ale in bottle! We were advised about a waiting time in.view of the number of diners and this wasn't far out with an apology for a slight delay.Food is of consistently good quality and quantity. Toilet Facilities are clean and well.looked after. Service with smile round

Old fashioned country pub/eatery

Been here ~20 years ago and described it as a 'transport café'. Under new management for a while it still has an old-fashioned country pub atmosphere; large rooms, low ceilings, a 'conservatory' with lots of tables. The menu is large and there is a choice for most tastes. My wife had mince and dumplings which is her test of an eatery. It was cheap and it showed: the mince was more gravy than mince and the dumpling, although light and fluffy, had no crispiness about it, veg was adequate. I had the Sizzling Shanghai, which was twice the price and twice the quantity. It is probably enough for two people if you are to go on to deserts. We had no room for a deserts, so did not ask for a menu and was not offered one. A 14 mile round trip is too far to be disappointed, but we did give it a second chance.

Good food at really competitive prices, we had chicken and bacon salad which came with jacket potato and bread bun, which we really enjoyed. Staff are very pleasant and helpful. Service very good even at busy times. Nice play area for the young ones, plenty of parking. We will be. Back.

Fabulous food helpfully friendly staff, great family atmosphere

Starting with the welcome, this was one of the highlights of our visit to the North East. Both the adults and children's menu are what you would expect from a pub menu. Very good service, friendly and timely. The food was very good, Steak Pie, Scampi, (large) Fish and chips. And the price must put a lot of people off. It is about £3-5 less than you now expect to pay. Deserts, Sticky Toffee Pudding etc at £4.50. Drinks follow suit and Worthington's at £3.8 / pint has to be the cheapest around. Well done Keel Row, a few locals that had told us of their reservations, have been put right. Do not expect 'fine dining' but it is definitely worth the visit. We will be back.

Rushed off their feet due to staff shortage apologies given as soon as we arrived but still in and out in an hour and food and service very good.

Had Hunters chicken and house pie and chips. Sticky toffee pudding absolute value for money. Will go there again

Visited yesterday for my grandma's birthday & I had the most amazing home made corned beef pie, served with chips & veg it was huge but managed to eat most of it, my son & daughter had the chicken nuggets and they also looked really nice, definitely be back again soon with my husband 😀 it had a lovely atmosphere & staff were super friendly, couldn't fault a thing 😊

4 of us dined here for Sunday Lunch , we had 1 Roast Beef , 1 Roast Pork , I Scampi, 1 Fish and Chips and ice cream to follow , both Roasts were lovely, the Chips that came with the Scampi were a bit cold and undercooked but otherwise everything else was superb , we will definitely return for more

I visited on Sunday and ordered a chicken roast dinner and I could not eat this as chicken was slimy and had black bits, spoke to staff member who offered me beef however cause had to be somewhere just got told sorry il speak to chief no refunded offered even tho I could not eat the food

Came last Friday for afternoon tea and it wasn’t very nice chocolate eclair tasted sour , ham and cheese sandwich was really nice , walked in took a seat to be greated with a dirty cat litter smell a restaurant should really smell like cooked food so it was quite off putting I have been previous last year and it was amazing however this time was appaling no one asked if we wanted tea or coffee with our afternoon tea so I didn’t get it also the young male server was quite abruptly slamming the stuff on the table won’t be back as this time was disappointing
