Spent the weekend in the Newcastle area, following a Friday night loss to Newcastle Falcons at Kingston Park. Our visit to the North East was epitomised by the welcome in this pub. The Landlady, Leyla, gave us great hospitality experience, sorted out rugby watching on tv, and we enjoyed friendly banter with many of the locals. We were so impressed that we returned the next day and enjoyed a similar experience.

Food ok had a problem with starter manager very good at sorting it out. The main was ordered with no chips or onion rings and came out complete with both, so it had to be sent back to correct. Waiters were lacking in manners and waiter skills.

Real suntrap outside, not so much a garden but loads of benches to choose from. We enjoyed some live acoustic music on a Saturday evening. Can’t speak for the food but plenty of the usual beers and ciders on tap. Cocktails looked good.

The food is not good quality or worth the prices that are charged. Today £15.00 for a fish pie that was mostly just mashed potato hardly any fish or sauce in it at all and flavourless. Half a bowl of bland soup with micro sliced bread, forgotten garlic bread, when that arrived it was micro sliced bread brushed with garlic butter. The drinks order was wrong on two occasions. I work in the food & beverage industry hopefully with the honest feedback improvements will come.

Been a local at this pub for years but I don’t think I will return anytime soon. The Sunday dinner is really bad and one of the worst we have ever had. Overcooked potatoes and rock hard Yorkshire puddings, and watery gravy. Honestly it is not worth the money. The female toilets were in a terrible state recently with dirty toilet roll all over the cubicle and a used tampon and toilet roll with blood on. The toilet was in this state for a few hours and not one member of staff checked the toilets in that time. If you are going to charge an extortionate amount for drinks please clean your toilets. I’ve seen cleaner toilets in the pubs in the centre of North Shields. Unfortunately I won’t be spending anymore money in the pub purely based on the state of the toilets. Having a clean toilet should be the basics of a pub.

Just been here with my wife and in laws for Sunday lunch We have been here on numerous occasions and always had a great lunch, however today it was absolutely disgusting. The pub has been taken over and I can honestly say it's one of the worst lunches I've ever had. The lamb was very stringy and seemed to be undercooked, the so-called roast potatoes had just been pre boiled and heated up, the Yorkshire puddings were like stodge balls, the carrots were literally raw and totally unedible, and the stuffing was crispy and burnt., luke warm gravy finished this disaster off. Won't be returning..

Took our son and daughter in law out for lunch today .they have always wanted to try this pub.Well what can I say waitress took our order we ordered 3 roast dinners .1 scampi and potato skins we said for all to come out together.40 minutes later nothing I said to my husband the table next to us turned up 30 minutes after us and they got served.i then complained and the waitress apologised and said it was her fault.Eventually our food came out omg its the worst roast dinner I have eaten in my life .lamb not cooked.vegtables not cooked .Yorkshire pudding absolutely disgusting like eating a bag of soggy flour. .It had no taste at all they are changing top money for a terrible disgusting roast.I went again complained and said I will pay for drink other meal bit not paying for the 3 roast dinners I would not recommend this place for a roast dinner.Such a shame as lovely building Staff had no idea of what was what not good enoabugh

The worst Sunday dinner I have ever had!! We tried here with our in laws on a sunny Sunday afternoon just because all the chip shops were heaving, me and my husband always wanted to try here but what a disappointment! Maybe they were having a bad day but the place wasn’t exactly busy and we ordered potato skins as a starter which came out burnt and then we ordered 2 lamb dinners, 1 chicken dinner and 1 scampi with chips. There was a table of 6 that came in after our table of 4 and yet they got their food way before us. We waited an hour for the mains to come out after the starter, when they finally came out they were lukewarm, the lamb had to be sent back as it was undercooked and the roast dinners themselves were honestly just terrible. The only thing with flavour on the plate was the gravy! The stuffing was dry and overcooked, the only decent things on the plate were the chicken and the mash but the mash was lukewarm, the veggies weren’t cooked properly so they were crunchy but the worst part was the Yorkshire puddings which were as if they’d been made with a dumpling mix, they were heavy and disgusting and quite frankly inedible. Honestly this was the worst roast dinner I’ve ever had and I’ve had a lot. We’d always wanted to try this place but based on this experience we won’t be back! It’s a shame because it’s a lovely building in a nice place but the food is actually disgusting! If you drive past this place then just keep going! We refused to pay in the end, that’s how bad it was.

This is a nice place, the service is good. The old Queen's head was special because of the range of gluten free meals and an awareness of food intolerances. Now, under new ownership, this is not the case. The current menu seems to be preliminary, however.

Decent pub, decent pint, great location. However, ordered 2 x chilli beef loaded nachos and they were poor. Sadly, didnt taste as good as they looked. Advertised on the menu as being topped with melted mozzarella but arrived covered in bright orange, low quality cheddar and not fully melted. The beef chilli was bland and with no heat. Expected better at over 8 quid a pop. Loaded fries were substantial and lovely but potatoe skins were cold when placed on the table. I don't take pleasure in writing less than favourable reviews for any local business but if you ordered a pizza for delivery and it arrived covered in cheddar cheese or red Leicester, it wouldn't taste as expected or as advertised so its same case here. All constructive and in my honest opinion. Didn't have the heart to complain as the staff were fine and it was busy so just left. Would go back but just for a pint.

The Queens Head, Cullercoats is a lovely, comfy old pub right on the foreshore of Cullercoats Bay. We walked in on a quiet Monday night, just 3 minutes before the dinner service was to end. In some establishments we would have been turned away, but we were greeted warmly and served an excellent meal of fresh local fish and chips, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Both our meal and our drinks were very fairly priced, which these days is rare. Very happy to recommend the Queens Head to anyone visiting Cullercoats and surrounds.
