The Junction in Highland

PLACE IS SHUT AND LOOKS TO HAVE BEEN FOR QUITE SOME TIME WHICH IS A SHAME AS THERE ISN'T MUCH TO DO AND MANY OPTIONS FOR EATING SNACKING COFFEE ETC

we have had pizza regularly from the Junction when in Applecross and it has always been excellent home made authentic Italian. During the pandemic, the take away option has been a life saver for us and may others. Would certainly recommend it.

For the money, pretty bad. Supermarket oven style pizza, at £10 a go, it’s not cheap, they’re friendly but just too dear. Given how remote it is, if you’re stuck between a rock and a hard place it will do, but if you can plan ahead and bbq or eat elsewhere do so.

Nous nous sommes arrêtés à Applecross pour manger, et nous avons été très bien reçus par le personnel du restaurant. Les gâteaux sont vraiment très bons, endroit très propre, et très bel endroit au bord de la mer. Les animaux sont aussi très bien traités (gamelle d'eau etc.) Je vous conseille de vous y arrêter, The junction en vaut la peine!

Modern and airy and fantastic views from the first floor window seat. Great service from very friendly staff followed by delicious homemade soup. Couldn’t fault it. Well done.

Modern, airy, relaxing ambience enhanced by amazing art from Applecross Photographic Gallery. Food and friendly service both exceeded expectations. Generous portions. Ham toasties highly recommended. Fresh side salad and great range of home baking.

Normaal gaan wij altijd in de Applecross Inn maar daar was het overbevolkt en omdat wij niet zo heel veel tijd hadden gingen wij deze keer in deze zaak. Vlotte bediening en lekker eten, maar het is niet wat je noemt gezellig in de zaak en dat is best spijtig in vergelijking met de Inn want voor de rest kan je op deze zaak niks aanmerken.

One of the newer establishments on the Applecross Peninsula, The Junction was just what I needed on a chilly September Sunday. A pint of cider and a fresh baked pizza while gazing at the sunset. The end of a perfect day. The pint was nicely chilled, the pizza was tasty (and hot) and the staff were great. Thank you.

The staff are so friendly as you walk through the door you instantly feel welcome. Lotte is especially friendly and has a cheeky banter that makes you want to keep returning!! ( we did several times ). The food itself was outstanding,from the basic toastie to the burgers. But for me the star of the show is the steak! I have never had such a mouthwatering plate of food. I cannot praise the chef enough. Many thanks to Davie and Lotte from Andy, Pat ( double Tia Maria) and Mark ( Cappuccino no sprinkles ) We will be back lol

Mooi gebouw op een mooie locatie, we zijn hier gestopt tijdens onze dagtocht over de Wester Ross Coastal Trail. De caramel-banaan-taart is hemels! Helaas was er nog maar 1 stuk beschikbaar dus deze hebben we gedeeld. Je kunt zowel beneden als boven zitten en de gratis WiFi is goed. Erg vriendelijk personeel.

After a walk through the woods near Applecross we headed to The Junction for something to drink and eat. We were looking for cake actually. There was a lot of choice and we choose the chocolate cake and it was very nice. Worth a meal, such a big slice it was. My DH's coffee was good too. We had no food, just coffee and cake. The waitress was doing secretive about the WIFI-code. It says on all windows there is FREE WIFI, yet she insisted on putting in the code herself on our device. No problem, just unusual.

Dopo un paio d'ore di paesaggi esagerati, di sole e di vento, tra corsi d'acqua e loch, arriviamo ad Applecross, poche case di fronte all'Isola di Skye - posto comunque carino-. E' ora di pranzo quindi entriamo in questo locale. Pulito, personale gentile, prendiamo salmone e birra. Intanto il tempo peggiora ma solo per poco.

Just picked up a pizza, friendly staff, quickly ordered, but the order took 30-35 minutes to come. The place wasn’t busy with food orders, just the staff busy cleaning coffee machines and tables. Shame the good service didn’t follow through to food. Cold a greaser when I got it, I was told they were just cutting it up.... 15 minutes ago I think.

Welcoming atmosphere and super friendly staff made this a very enjoyable evening meal. Wide choice of pizzas, burgers, fish, haggis and more. Alcohol served here. Water bowl provided for our dog. Opens early for breakfast and closes 10pm.

Had lovely cakes, coffees and hot chocolates whilst drying off and enjoying the view of Applecross Bay. Snag the upstairs window seat if you can!

Café découvert par hasard en faisant une halte à Applecross pour l'essence. La carte propose beaucoup de possibilités pour petit-déjeuner ou juste faire une pause dans l'après-midi. Bons déserts, personnel très accueillant et endroit très propre. Je conseille surtout la table à l'étage, face à la mer.

Based here for a lovely walk to Sand - 6km each way. Excellent cakes and snacks, teas and coffees. Good service. Friendly, chilled and clean. 👍🏾

We visited last night... with the intention of only stopping off for one drink and then making our way back to our campsite.

I visited this little place a few days ago and I never review places . But I had such a good experience I felt as though I had to .

Called in for a coffee and a bacon roll, really good and nice wee cafe with great service, will call again, nice setting as well.

The Junction what can I say but that the food is beautiful. I had a total of three meals whilst I stayed in Applecross.

The last time we visited I don't think the Junction existed. It's a great addition to the town. You can have lunch and beers, we had coffee and cake. I had a very interesting flapjack, not your usual flavours - this one had apple in it and a yoghurt top and it was good. Worth a food stop and a good place to watch the sun set over the bay from the top floor. The service was speedy and very friendly.

Doing the NC 500 and camped over in apple cross came here for breakfast and the food was delicious was a little on the expensive side £3.80 for a bacon sandwich although it was worth it because it was delicious ended up having 2

Visited today for a coffee stop. Friendly cafe with lovely view of the bay. Didn’t eat but the menu had lots to choose from.

Great wee restaurant and bar with fab pizza. Lovely friendly staff, great views of the bay from the terrace or large restaurant windows. Thoroughly recommend.

If in Applecross can't go wrong for food at The Junction, breakfast lunch or dinner. I had breakfast and dinner when I was in area and food was excellent great pizza and lovely breakfast. Staff very friendly and chilled. Good value as well.

We arrived in Applecross after driving over Bealah na Ba, having had a walk at the top and feeling in dire need of lunch. Excellent service, brilliant apple cake and proper coffee. It really hit the spot!

We decided to try the Junction on a whim for lunch after driving to Applecross. We didn't look at the menu, just the sign advertising fresh food which was a good appeal to us alone! Staff were so friendly and told us to find a seat wherever we liked so we chose the upstairs window table (love a good view!). We had coffees (really good flavours) and chose a pizza and a homemade burger. Both were amazing - we shared them as they were so good; flavours were delicious and you can tell it's freshly made! We weren't rushed but the staff were attentive and welcoming. We will recommend this to anyone we know who is up in the highlands and we are eager to return when we next visit!

Dropped in on the off chance to get some food, not busy at first but soon filled up. The Smoked Haddock and spring onion mashed potato with a Parmesan and Cream Sauce was absolutely delicious. The staff were very friendly, cheerful and attentive to all! Would recommend this as a place to go and eat at in Applecross.

The junction is perfect! Everyone is so welcoming and friendly upon arrival, don’t think We’ve ever walked into a place and was made to feel at home! Lottie, the server wonderful- easy to talk to, very friendly, had a great laugh!

This quirky spot fast become our favourite spot in Applecross on a recent camping trip, every member of staff we encountered was super friendly and efficient, and the food was delicious, served fast and (coming from a similar tourist town that has grossly inflated prices for standard fare) great value for money! Our favourite was the Diablo pizza with homemade chilli sauce!

Popped in here for evening meal, the special that night was smoked haddock on a bed of spring onion mash with creamy parmesan cheese sauce, it was delicious. Served with a side salad which was like a meal in itself drizzled with their own homemade honey and mustard dressing (own homemade dressing made fresh every afternoon) waiter informed us. Service was quick and very friendly, we only ate there once during our short break but others that we spoke to had a similar experience so would have no hesitation in recommending this place.

We had dinner here while on our NC500 trip with our 2 dogs. We sat upstairs and enjoyed the view. I had the fish special and my husband chose the vegetarian curry with added chicken! Both were delicious and we took away some of their great cakes for later. Most of the menu is pizza or pasta, so look out for the specials.

Everything in the Highlands is old and often needs a coat of paint. Not this place, great place for light lunches and fantastic pizzas. The beer is the best according to the locals!'

We had a lovely pizza and great soup. What really made this place were the lovely staff. Both our children were very taken with Charlotte. She even organised and ice cream at the van across the road for them. Thanks for making our trip to Applecross such a memorable experience.

Smart, clean lines in this welcoming cafe. Coffee a bit lukewarm and cakes a bit dry but it was the end of a hot day. Very friendly staff. Would return to try the pizzas which looked great.

Surprisingly reasonable prices and great quality food/ service, couldn't be faulted! Didn't use the toilets so couldn't comment on them.

Excellent food, huge portions, healthy and nutritious (which we really needed after a couple of nights of pub grub) would highly recommend. Extremely good value for money and charming service.

Dropped in for a cup of tea but desided to stop for lunch Charlotte and Dave are very friendly and welcoming. hubby had the smoked haddock while I had the smoked salmon salad both dishes were excellent best salmon I've had in year's. It was well worth the visit.

Stopped in for a tea and rest stop on the first leg of the journey, really good, in fact so well came back for lunch. Mrs H had the smoked salmon and a salad. I had the smoked haddock and mash both very nice.

New addition to Applecross since my last visit, very attractive building from the outside and inside! Staff were amongst the friendliest I've experienced, we ordered french toast with cappuccinos, of which the french toast was amazing... the best I've ever tasted! The coffees were a little late, arriving after the food but we weren't charged for them as a result.. They certainly know how to look after their customers at The Junction and is a must visit if you're in the area and want a good feed!

I have been visiting Applecross for some 15 yr now and was looking forward to sampling this rather unusual looking 'new-kid-on-the-block'. Immediately on entering we were warmly greeted by staff who actually looked really pleased to see us (unlike some establishments I could name!). The outer appearance and interior decor are a little strange, a sort of neo-gothic-industrial-modernist fusion but it actually works! The staff couldn't be nicer and more helpful (they even came to find us so we could see one of the gorgeous sunsets before it faded!). The food was kind of pizza-centred with a 'specials' board. For a pleasant change, vegetarians are well catered for, the food was delicious (and very reasonably priced), swiftly cooked with a visit by the chef to make sure everything was OK.

freshly made snacks, crepes and pizzas. good coffee and tea. they also do beers and spirits. great views from the large front window. opens 12noon until 10pm.

Lovely place in Applecross with great views! We stopped in for a wine, which was lovely, then we were tempted by the hot chocolate fudge cake with cream-divine! Well worth a visit and the table at the top with the stunning water view is recommended! Lovely friendly staff too!

Stumbled across The Junction whilst touring the area. We’re obviously out of season now and so many places in the area decide it’s not worth their while opening. So, we were delighted to see the “Open” sign outside this modern cafe cum bistro. We just wanted a simple lunch, so the Smoked Salmon Salad was perfect. Various toasties and sandwiches were also on offer as well as a lovely selection of homemade cakes and pastries.

Clean modern bistro type place. Playing blues. Just called for a hot chocolate as it was stormy outside. It was ok but not any cream, only marshmallows. Bit odd as it was that hot chocolate type of day.

This is what Applecross needs - a modern, clean restaurant/pub. The only problem is the signage. We drove right past thinking it was an art gallery or similar. Also, it’s confusing when a sign says bistro/cafe/pub. Most people visiting Applecross are on holiday and in the evening, or certainly from lunchtime onwards, I reckon a lot of people fancy a beer, glass of wine etc. If there was a bigger sign advertising that it was a pub (in very large letters and visible on the road) and restaurant, It would certainly attract a lot more people. The menu is great, as it doesn’t confuse you with too much on offer. The red wine is first class. There is also a lot of space for families, as nowadays I think families need to be welcome in most restaurants etc. I also think that advertising as a bistro could actually put some people off.

Popped by the Junction a couple of times last week while on holiday, menu had plenty to chose from. We opted for sandwiches and cake- always a good combo! Coffee was excellent. Open in the evenings as well, heard lots of good things about the food on offer- we never make it past the inn (sorry guys).

We had just been looking for a coffee. What we found was a bakery, coffee shop, restaurant and bar all rolled into one and staffed by great people.

Visited this cafe several times on our recent trip to Applecross. Lovely staff and the food was very good value and tasty. They make a mean Chai Latte.

Very nice cafe/restaurant great toasted sandwiches. The blt was exceptional and a triple decker! Humus on toast came with a large number of extras. Both dishes were good value for money.

Visited here for breakfast and it's a lovely wee cafe with large windows for a great view. Food is delicious and staff very accommodating. Lovely inside with plenty of sockets to charge your phone!

Popped in for dinner with my wife,daughter and our dog.Sat outside as it was a beautiful evening.They even provided a bowl of water for the dog. Me and my wife had pizza which were both brilliant,lovely thin base and toppings were very tasty indeed.My daughter had vegetarian dish which she said was also very good.The junction would be my first stop at Applecross without a doubt, value for money,friendly staff. Give it a go you will not be dissapointed.

Found this early evening...best seat in the house to watch a stunning sunset is upstairs centre of the window. Good selection of gins - was given a sniff of them so I could decide. Simple good food. Fish was very fresh. A great relaxing evening. Nice staff and reasonably priced food.

Dit is waarschijnlijk de slechtste pizza die ik ooit at. Gewoon niet te eten. Veel te straf en dan nog eens een azijnsmaakje erbij. Spijtig. Want de brownie en de koffie die we aten tijdens de middag was top. Het personeel heel vriendelijk en het moderne decor wel leuk.

We called in on 29th august for a bite to eat and coffees. The toasted sandwiches and salad we had was delicious. Coffees were both that good we had another. Service was very quick and the staff friendly and attentive. Highly recommended.

After a long drive from Kyle to Applecross, we decided to stop for a bite to eat at this lovely cafe. Greeted by friendly staff, and were quickly served our food. The lunchtime menu was delicious, Bacon, Brie and cranberry bagel was a favorite! Salads were also lovely, with toppings such as cheese or salmon. Also, enjoyed some lovely cakes after our meal. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the local area, such as ourselves. Top marks!

This place came to our rescue after an awful experience at a nearby establishment the previous night. We were so pleased to find attentive service, great food and drink all in a very relaxed atmosphere. We plumped for pizzas from the varied menu and they were excellent. Everything was so reasonably priced too. The puddings looked wonderful but we were too full sadly to try them. Thank you for a lovely night. Highly recommended.

Reasonably priced. Really good food, so good that we are going back for breakfast tomorrow too! The decor was lovely, toilets were clean, staff were friendly and very attentive and once again, food was delicious!

We had a flat tire in this remote area of Scotland and we were rescued by a lovely lady who interrupted her work to help us in an extremely efficient and friendly way.

You deserve a reward for making the journey to Applecross from the south, and the locals deserve support for their efforts to keep a thriving community going there. The café overlooks the sea, and did nice coffee, hot chocolate and brownies. Prices were reasonable, and it was a popular stopping point, especially for motorcyclists.

Stopped here today with the family for tea coffee & cakes. Staff very friendly & helpful and welcomed the dog....even giving him his own bowl of water! Cakes were delicious too. Lovely bright interior, perfect location.

Out on a drive and decided to visit Applecross. Stopped in this lovely cafe and had the most fantastic bacon sandwich. The staff are so friendly and helpful😊

The location and building are beautiful. While staff are nice, there seems to be a lot of insecurity. We didn't get what we ordered (despite double checking) and what we got was, to be fair, not very nice. The upstairs area and bathroom doesn't seem to be very clean. There is a lot of potential, nice staff, but maybe guidance is lacking?

It is a must to visit the stunning Applecross, hidden along the west coast highlands of Scotland. If you are lucky enough to visit, The Junction is a fabulous cafe/bar/restaurant not to miss. Outside dining for breakfast looking out over the water to the mountains beyond is a real treat. Food is very high quality with a lovely menu offering vegan and vegetarian options. Pizzas are to die for! The lovely Charlotte is very attentive and helpful, making everyone feel very welcome. We visited with a large group including young families. Service and food were faultless, so we visited 3 times in 3 days!

I can't recommend it any more highly. Wonderful setting, fantastic cafe with superb food and absolutely nothing too much trouble at all...really friendly staff. A must if you are in beautiful Applecross.

The Junction ist ein neues, modernes Café in einer Art renovierter Scheune. Dem Namen entsprechend liegt es direkt an der Abzweigung zum Bealach na Ba. Das Angebot reicht von gutem Kaffee über leckere Kuchen und Süssgebäcke bis hin zu ganzen Mahlzeiten. Der Service ist schnell und unkompliziert.

The gentleman who took our order certainly did not have English as his first language; suspect this is why our toasted sandwiches arrived at the table untoasted. Building does not lend itself to lunchtime trade (very few tables have decent views), may work better as an evening bar. Underwhelming in my opinion.

Amazing café - great vegetarian breakfast, lovely modern and clean - staff very friendly and helpful - lots of choice - good value too. We sat outside, lovely deck area with seating next to a stream. Great place to stop

My second visit to Applecross and a welcome change to find a new Bistro style restaurant. Modern and fresh decor and food that was fresh and homemade and also good for vegetarians. It was the only place in town we found with a TV for the world cup football. Great atmosphere.

During a three-day camping visit we had lunch in The Junction twice and breakfast once. The food is put on your plate with love- they care about what you get. We had the home-made hummus and ham & cheese toastie, and I've never tasted hummus like it. The ham was hand-carved, presentation was with care; pots of pickle, veg crisps, fresh salad dressed in balsamic vinaigrette- little things matter and they give you plenty of them. By way of a contrast, we had lunch (with everyone else) at the Applecross Inn. They give you 2 scallops for a £9 starter; they throw the coral in to make up for it I guess, but no-one has that, do they? Twenty years a chef and I've never seen that. I had a sea-trout special which came to me with chopped chive, boiled new potatoes and asparagus. it looked uninspired; potatoes and asparagus soft and well cooked, and the asparagus didn't even have the wood trimmed from it. Whoever put that on a plate couldn't care less, and the cost of one dinner at the Applecross Inn was more than we spent in three visits to the Junction. If you're going to Applecross, break from the tradition. You don't HAVE to go to the Applecross Inn. Having an establishment with food as good as you'll find at the Junction can hopefully have some effect on the quality they are dishing up at the Inn. You can be sure they need it.

Good looking new business facing the sea. Service and atmosphere seemed low when I visited. I hoped to find some seafood but moved on, guess where?

Stopped here on a cycle tour — feeling extremely hungry, and was really impressed! I had the hummus platter for a starter, which was splendid coming with olives, delicious chutney, oat cakes and a generous side salad. Followed by an excellent pizza (dough made by the owner of the campsite), along with a pint of fine beer. Meanwhile outside ....the view!! Loch, Hills and deer wandering about the tiny road. Thoroughly recommend !!

This little gem was a great place for dinner. The place was like new bright and airy with great views from upstairs. Food was freshly cooked and great value. Would have gone in for breakfast but poor young Lotte couldn’t pull her carcass out the bed before 8 o’clock in the morning. Will call again next time. Just banter Lotte you were great really. :)

This is probably the only new building in Applecross and it is smart and stylish with lots of tables on the deck for a good day. We went in for beers. There was a good choice on tap. We saw coffees and breakfasts being served. Open breakfast, lunch and dinner. Nice place and nice people.

My husband and I had an evening meal here, having eaten in the pub a number of times,it was nice to eat some where new. The staff were friendly, welcoming and patient, when we couldn't make our minds up what we wanted.

I don’t really leave reviews but I came in here for breakfast during my stay and I have to say I felt very comfortable and the waitress that served me (Charlotte) was absolutely lovely and I have to say the French toast was amazing! Thankyou for making my stay very enjoyable.

Came in here for breakfast this morning. They have tables outside so we were able to watch the harr lift from the sea as we had a lovely vegetarian hot breakfast. Lovely waitress and the coffee was just perfect.

I called in at this cafe after cycling over the Bealach na Bà - so was in need of some sustainance and I wasn't disappointed! It is clean, comfortable and welcoming and you can sit either indoors or out. I had soup and a coffee and another cyclist I met had a slice of cake, neither of us was disappointed!

We arrived in Applecross late and hungry. Having just pitched a tent we went into the village to find the junction still open till 10pm. We got tea and cake (lovely and huge) and used their great Wi-Fi. We also went back in the morning. Didn't open till 9am but worth the little wait. Got a good breakfast to start the day and Stuart even got his vanilla latte. Couldn't find a better place. A real asset to the village.

Had lunch here, food was delicious. It was very busy but staff were great, and we did not have to wait long at all. The food was worth waiting for, and as it's licensed we could have a drink while we waited.

Had a coffee and a cake before setting off in the morning, the location and surrounding area is beautiful. Staff were very friendly and the cafe itself was lovely.

Lovely welcoming staff on arrival. . They do a fantastic breakfast very filling and we'll cooked. Nice pot of coffee. Called back later had some lunch and a few drinks. Plenty to choose from. Food & alcoholic drinks. Including gluten free lager. Upstairs you get great views of the bay for miles. Very relaxing place with great views and staff. Nice food & drinks. Stopped here near the end of our honeymoon and was blown away with the delicious food and friendly staff. My husband and I both wanted the pork belly but there was only one portion left which he allowed me to have and I'm so glad he did. it was simply melt in the mouth. Im not a big veg fan but what the chef did with the red cabbage and raisins was delicious. We were so happy with our meal, we returned for breakfast and not disappointed. Would definitely return. Staff were extremely friendly.

Stopped for a light lunch, and found a small but varied and interesting menu, with food of a good quality. An interesting building, too.
