The White House Cocktail Bar and Bistro in Highland

We tried the excellent value £10 lunch menu, and the quality of food was great and such good value. Just fantastic service from Sophie who, when she heard it was my mums birthday, surprised her with a glass of fizz! Service was very prompt - complements to the chef!

Great Ambience for a nice dinner. I tried the Duck Breast, Vegetables Soup and finished with a pudding for dessert. Great plating and taste.

Very good food, good cocktails, super staff. We‘ll come back!

Calling in on The Whitehouse after a local recommendation, I had timed it just right to take advantage of the 2 courses for £15 offer at limited times, I was met at the door by a warm and friendly young lady who showed me to table, I was looked after by this same person for the duration of my visit impeccably, the food is second to none both courses were delicious and although full when asked “ could I fit a desert in” by this same warm friendly and smiling “waitress” I said yes I’ll have the sticky toffee pudding please, now that’s service with a smile, although I say waitress she was much more, attending the door and seeing people to a table, taking orders, serving, clearing after each course and taking payments, it wasn’t a one woman show though as each “waitress” was similarly busy and attentive, so all in all from chef, kitchen staff and front of house, you won’t be disappointed with a visit to The Whitehouse

Extremely slow service and unprofessional staff, sitting there with empty plates for 20+ minutes and staff just looking and walking away asked for dessert menu waited over 35 minutes to get someone to come over to take order. Asked for some water twice and never got it. Food tasted really good as always, service used to really good but now it looks like run by teenagers with no experience or training.

We entered and all 3 staff were just petrified, the one closest to the entrance was staring into the abyss, until we finally got greeted by a waitress a bit further towards the bar. We got placed at the bar to order drinks while we waited for our table to be prepared - funnily enough it took the bar staff minutes to take our drinks orders, at which time we were promptly taken to our table. Despite taking minutes to prepare, the table was still sticky - oh well. We ordered the scallops as a starter to share and a main each. After an insignificant wait, we were served our scallops - together- with our mains. I had a pie with chicken, topped with mash, rectangular. My wife had a mushroom pie, round, mash on the side. The waitress said she "thinks that's the chicken" and handed me my wifes main. How can not tell these two totally differently looking pies apart? And why does the starter come as a side? Nobody knows. The pies were actually really nice, a highlight. The scallops were our real problem of the night - must've been 2 poor scallops, chopped into 8 pieces, battered and fried to oblivion. Those unrecognizable and forgettable scallops were 12 pounds, naturally we felt robbed. Last but not least I'd like to comment on the choice of beers on tap. No Scottish ale or lager, the closest you could get to a normal lager was Czech Pravha - which tasted like water. Overall an okay dinner, but too expensive for what it was. Service staff felt very young and untrained, rather helpless.

The food is great and of high quality, the service is super friendly and helpful. It also offers a nice, cozy atmosphere.

White House has everything we like in a restaurant: fantastic food; a friendly, functional and efficient service; A nice atomosphere with excellent decoration. It is an excellent restaurant in Inverness. I don't know all the restaurants in Inverness but I'm pretty sure this one will be in the top 3 in the city. It deserves a visit.

Nice atmosphere and ambience. Staff always very friendly and attentive. Food was good - nice to see a menu that's not just pretty much the same as everywhere else - although ££8.50 for a Caprese salad starter which is half a tomato and a few slices of mozzarella does seem a little steep. What really struck me though is the seat-pads were badly stained and the table sticky. A common issue where the tables are wiped with a cleaning spray but not properly cleaned. Layer after layer goes on until you get that thick sticky residue that's quite unpleasant. A good restaurant overall but some simple changes would really improve things.Nice atmosphere and ambience.

Delicious food. I had a venison burger with halloumi fries and a Passion Fruit Possot for dessert. I expected the potions to be a little smaller, and that's not a complaint. The service was excellent. A member of our group's meal arrived later than the rest of us. The staff immediately apologised and offered them a free drink unprompted, which was very good of them. Inverness has so many great places to eat, I figured you should check out The White House, too, on the list of places to try first.

Another highly recommended restaurant in Inverness. Great ambience and vibes for an intimate night with your significant other. Nice wine list and cozy surroundings. The Asian chicken noodle dish was a great dish!

Restaurant tastefully decorated and very cozy. Definitely the best cocktail I've had in my life! On the other hand, the soup was very spicy and this was not specified at all and the waitresses were not very pleasant, we had the impression of disturbing them.

Good restaurant tastefully decorated. The waitresses/waiters are very welcoming and take orders quite quickly. The meals are healthy and good. Small downside when paying, where we waited 10-15 minutes before being able to leave. We recommend this restaurant!

Came for the first time after having an amazing meal the night before in Inverness. This was one of top 4 places recommended so after last night, was looking forward to the meal. So very disappointed. The pheasant appetizer was SO DRY, as was the pork tenderloin. I mentioned it to the waitress and she didn’t seem concerned nor offered any apologies or solutions. The service was also extremely slow. Ambience was good as were the cocktails. Overall a disappointing experience

We arrived into the beautiful city of Inverness, and after traveling by train for half the day we were quite hungry. The White House restaurant did not disappoint! The staff were so friendly and accommodating. We shared the king prawns and the fish and chips(deep fried haddock I believe). Out of all the restaurants we have frequented in Scotland thus far, this fish was the best! Give this place a try, you won’t be disappointed!

Myself and family came for breakfast. The service from Chloe and Adam was second to none . Very warm welcome and friendly atmosphere. Highly recommend this restaurant and staff to anyone looking for great food and a relaxed environment .

Great vibes but the food was a let down. I share the perspective of the venison burger with the other guy down below- just not good at all I also never had someone offer me water at any point.

On August 25, we had the Sunday pork roast. It was very dry and not very good. We strongly recommend you do not get the Sunday roast at this restaurant.

My gluten free wife and I dined here for dinner. I had the tangine, it was great. She had the steak salad and was very happy. Service was good, we rarely saw the same person twice, but we were taken care of.

Had an dinner here, and was underwhelmed. The service was slow, and even though we asked for water when we sat down, it wasn't brought to us until after we finished our appetizer. We kept asking for it, and they'd say it was on the way. This is not a fancy place, don't let the nice photos fool you. If you're looking for a nicer dinner out, look elsewhere.

Ordered sea bass - it was nice but consisted of one small single fillet of fish, 4 sliced potatoes pieces and veg…expensive for one bit of fish, not to mention odd, who got the other fillet? Then the new waiter remained at the table as we tried to scramble together the tip money from various pockets and bags, rather than just leave and collect it from the table once we left…awkward and hopefully someone will train him soon. This was the 5th restaurant we tried to get that night, all the others were full; unlikely to return.

We had a nice breakfast. I need gluten free and the menu is marked well. Quiet area.

Food was excellent. Really pretty place. Anyone ordering water should specify tap water though. Our server brought us a large bottle of Loch Ness water that cost 5 pounds. It's an adorable keepsake bottle though, so it's ok.

This restaurant has the best flavour profile around. From the appetizers to the drinks and even the desserts are all balanced perfectly.

It was okay. Not great. Larger group, so maybe that was the issue.

Only two blocks from River Ness/Radisson hotel, our tour group enjoyed a meal at the quaint restaurant that features American [yuck!] and European cuisine [yum!]. It’s also a bar where locals gather. We were offered limited selections chosen the day before. For this weary traveler from Central Florida—where “fresh fish” is fresh from the freezer—I chose salmon accompanied by a chilled Sauvignon Blanc. What a treat! Anyone in Scotland want to adopt a 72-year-old?☺ The meal was topped off with vanilla ice cream and berries over a brownie. Double yum! Get presidential treatment at the Whitehouse. You’ll be glad you chose this restaurant.

We were so pleasantly surprised at how wonderful our experience was at the Whitehouse in Inverness. The staff were helpful and so pleasant. Our food was outstanding. The location was great and we loved the decor. I had the sea bass and it was done perfectly. We ordered the Passionfruit Posset and it was the best thing we had tasted. We highly recommend.

Lovely meal but would benefit from more vegetarian options which are currently gnocchi and salad as a main meal.

We went for the boozy brunch which was good value for money, good food options and cocktail options. Only downside was that service was a bit slow but staff were very friendly

The food was delicious, but the service left something to be desired. The staff seemed disinterested and appeared bothered when asked questions regarding the menu which stated to “ask your server”.

Anastasia was a true dream girl and made our experience so fabulous! Her customer service, dedication, paired with her cheery bubbly personality made our experience beyond enjoyable. Stopped by twice for beverages at the bar. First visit was easy and great evening spent talking to the bartender. Second visit seemed like they wanted to interrogate us prior to seating at the bar and by that time seating had shifted and our seats had disappeared. We left.

arrived and seated immediately, no issues with service and on the whole very impressed with food and service. My only complaint and its not really a complaint , just a suggestion - more gravy. Its not the restaurants fault either as I could have asked for more and I am sure they would have obliged as they were very accommodating in every way. Would I recommend Yes and I will be back for sure.

The food was fine, service was mediocre. The staff seemed undertrained and not professional. We observed a lot of standing around seemingly not knowing what to do. Our wine was undrinkable but we still had to pay for it even after it was addressed with the "manager" - loose term. rather disappointing. The focus appeared to be on cocktails. I would not recommend.

This place is average but good compared to what is in the area. We had the sea bass and the portion was quite small but tasty still. We orders the noodles and added chicken and the noodles were too hard, lacked flavour. Would have been better warmed or in a broth. Average experience.

Very delicious meal! We got soup and salad and everything was really fresh. It was perfect after a long travel day! Would recommend!!

I had the Stornoway Black Pudding Brunch but it wasn’t Stornoway Black Pudding. Instead a cheap alternative. If you’re going to claim a specific ingredient, atleast include it in the food - makes a big difference to the dish.

Our waitress Ninie was honestly the loveliest bubbliest girl who really looked after us. And the food was delicious. We really enjoyed our evening and meal. Will be back.

Lovely shared lunch with excellent selection of smaller plates - prawns and mussels were fabulous. A warm welcome again from Alanna makes this our favourite dining venue - great sense of humour and extremely pleasant personality. Looking forward already to our next trip in July.

The day before my reservation, I called to see if they could accommodate two more people. They were able to make this adjustment for us. The service and food were fantastic!

Amazing gluten free options!! And friendly staff as well. We ordered gluten free fish and chips as well as the “wachos”. Incredible creative and delicious cocktails, and even gluten free dessert options. I highly recommend a visit and trying the basil apple smash!

I was sadly disappointed in the White House. The atmosphere is great, we were greeted and seated quickly, and the staff seemed attentive. Unfortunately that was not the case. Despite having my dairy allergy in the reservation (confirmed by the host) there was a lot of confusion over my dietary restriction and a lot of back and forth required to order a meal that wouldn't kill me. Our drinks were ordered and then it took forever to take our food order. After confirming the dish I wanted and what was required to make it dairy free, the dish eventually came out with the dairy component anyway. I had to wait again for a server to come by until I could ask if it indeed had the dairy item and then wait for them to bring me the correct dinner without it. I also had to pay for a substitute item separately instead of having it offered free, which was a big disappointment. Finally had my meal - during which time my wife's meal was getting cold - and it was indeed good. I give credit to the chefs and bartender because the food and drinks were overall pretty great. But then we never saw our server for almost a full HOUR. We sat with our plates empty and napkins on top of them, obviously finished, while our server and several others went by multiple times, even making eye contact multiple times. I finally asked a different server to get our bill and she said she would. After ten more minutes I noticed that all the servers were hanging out at the bar talking - our server was enjoying a snack - and my wife stormed up to ask for our bill. They finally delivered it and we paid immediately and left. It seemed like the restaurant completely lacked management and our server did confirm that one of the other servers had gone home sick so they were short. But that makes their lackadaisical behavior even more confusing. We certainly won't be returning and will not recommend it. A big shame as they have some great things going for them, most importantly the food. Hopefully they can get better because restaurants in this situation typically end up closed permanently in a few weeks or months. Note: I would give the food 4 stars but the confusion over the allergy and bringing out the wrong item which could have poisoned me was a huge red flag.

The best mussels in the world! Excellent cuisine with cool service in a warm atmosphere. One of the excellent memories of our ten days in Scotland!

Lovely ambience & good selection of food choices . Tasty food. Service a bit varied but apologies made for delays . Love the decor but seats could do with reupholstering.

This isn’t my first visit to the White House and it certainly won’t be my last. We celebrated my birthday with a group of friends and the restaurant were very accommodating to last minute changes regarding table numbers. The food was outstanding as ever as was the service. Thank you for a lovely evening.
