The Jug in Newcastle-under-Lyme

Absolutely the worst pub in any st post code There was a open mic a few weeks ago when we attended some great singers where on one sang a England foot ball song 3 lions non offensive non family friendly song o it was at 9.45 and only adults in the pub Then all of a sudden the bar staff went and turned the sound system of and stopped all other singers as they said no English foot ball songs while we're in the soden euros and in the final We're proud to be in English and sing our songs with pride but your staff attitude needs to change !!! If I could give a 0 for stars I would I will never set foot in this place again

Right good fun, so it is, Cheer at people as they go up and down the outside steps and drink them dry of guineas, Immense.

The service is friendly and the bar is accessible to everyone. The atmosphere is calm and friendly.

Fantastic little hybrid pub, with a Jekyll and Hyde character. During the day it is a proper local pub with free pool and a great atmosphere. In the evenings it transforms into a banging live music venue. Great selection of Spirits and Keg beers. Friendly staff. Pop in you won't regret it!

Bands for entertainment, good selection of beers and ciders, something for all tastes

Good prices for a wide variety of drinks and dog friendly Never too loud or crowded.

The Jug is always a great experience, I've only been twice but each time has nice a good visit. It's never too busy and always has plenty of seating in a nice atmosphere both inside and out. Love the craft beer and the style. It would be nice if they had a pool cue for the table though lol

It's a pub, up north, with all the usual northern hospitality you can expect. 10/10 would come again

Very poor experience when we visited, poor service from the bar staff .. pool table where you had to bring your own cues to play. Poor range of real ales, things need to change

Very clicky. They have a pool table but no cues. Toilets were dirty

Visited here on a couple of occasions, always found a decent selection of drinks on offer and staff are attentive. However I try and avoid using the toilets as they are often dirty, liquid all over the floor ( maybe leaking toilet or maybe urine ? ) and the door is hanging off at an angle so you have to lift it up and move it across to lock the door.

The chips are something else and the food is great, the bar staff are helpful really easy to talk to and will piont you at local nutter who talks to pigeons. He's called dave and will tell you a joke if you ask him nicely.

Had burgers from Bullish Boys at the Jug on a number of occasions and they have been superb every time. Eat in or take away. Very very tasty burgers 🍔

Shocking staff , unprofessional , slow service , not understandable , rip off , don't listen to ypur enquiries, take money not give it back

Ok pub with acoustic band on. There was no aptnosphere until our group turned up. Bouncers lovely. Bar staff were easily irritated and miserable. For a town centre venue i would expect different

Beautiful public house.. very clean and barstaff are really friendly and very welcoming. Would be nice if they did bar snacks. Sandwiches exc.. but a lovely place to go.. fully recomend for a relaxing drink.

Dropped in to watch a band play and it was quite simply brilliant. We had a great time and will definitely be going back again

The Jug is a very cool place, however the doorman following you in the toilet when you need a number 2 kind of makes feel guilty when your not, however all things aside I'll be back

It could be better. There is all the space and opportunity to make it better. But the beer choice, for a traditional pub, was poor. Only Pedigree with two other pumps off. The security high perspex the width of the bar isn't welcoming and is unecessary now. Could be better.

Cosy pub but they do play late night club music... Nice on a weekday with a semi-large group

Great for quiet Saturday night when you don't want to get some bs of young drunk tracksuit warriors. Doormen fantastic and all staff. 5 stars. And some great tunes.

Went on a Saturday night, pretty decent. Beavertown gamma ray on tap and live music in my ears. Haven't been for years but nice to see the old place still going strong

I have visited this place regularly for years and I just have to say that The Jug is an absolute amazing place to visit. I cannot recommend this place enough for those wanting a fantastic night out. That staff? Polite, accommodating and friendly. The atmosphere? Nothing short of ethereal! The pub is clean, well maintained and never fails to deliver a masterclass experience. All in all this is an awesome place that should on everyone’s list on places to visit!

Great little alternative pub...Open Mics Wednesday and Karaoke Thursdays if you wanna perform...not matter what your standard....this is the place to do that 🤟 🎵 "Express yourself" 🎤🎧🎼🎷

Can't put in to words how amazing the staff are. The two bouncers are incredibly professional, kind and caring. My friend had abit too much to drink but the bouncer went out there way to find us, get him water, and blue role and let him sit outside until we were able to get him home all while checking he was okay. He even spoke to a family member on his behalf on the phone to put her mind at ease. 99% of places would of thrown him to the street and that would be the end of that. Bar staff are absolutely incredible aswell, the lady always recommends amazing drinks and they've got a huge selection to choose from. Litterally don't have a bad word to say about the place. Truly a special place with a team to be really proud of

Cheap, cheerful, good beer garden and last night it was roaring! Like a bass festival in the beer garden. More nights like that plsss

Cracking pub. One of the few decent places left in castle! Worth a visit if you're in town. Cracking staff and probably the best doormen in town

Rude staff with a cocky attitude, experienced multiple occasions. Everything else including the atmosphere is nice, will not be coming back though.

Cheap beer, cheery atmosphere, free pool, the jug is one of my favourite places to drink in Newcastle. Definitely worth a visit. Friendly for all demographics.

A horrible place with staff who are intolerant of people with disabilities. They claimed that we were not allowed in even though one of our party members was exempt from wearing a mask. The person was then asked bluntly what is your disability and then the manager showed him an asthma inhaler and said that they manage perfectly fine wearing one. I would not recommend this pub to anyone, as they are totally intolerant, uncaring, rude and quite aggressive.

Nice place with a great mood. Music events are very interesting, having live bands of pop, rock and jazz. Kind people all around. Ideal place for having a drink in Newcastle under Lyme.

Can’t believe how much this place has changed! Rebranded as The Jug, there’s nothing old and brown about it now! It’s Clean, tidy, a free house and now has a resident Chef as The Deliciousist, serving incredible street food Wed - Sun with a large selection of vegan and veggie options! Open mic Wednesday, Karaoke Thursday, live music Friday Saturday, jazz every other Sunday and a quiz every Sunday night! Literally has everything!

The food is amazing and the atmosphere is great can't wait to come again

Enjoyed lunch at The Jug on Saturday. We both chose the loaded fries. Lots of ways to customise the end result. Very tasty. Friendly, helpful staff and great beer too.

Hi, yes my husband and I visited the Congress, but we last saw the pub thirty years ago and it was a great day.

Great place to have a private party with great staff and security.

Lovely little pub that's welcome to old and young - especially students! Plenty of drinks to choose from, including coffee and incredibly cheap soft drinks, and a free pool table to play on. It's a great place to hang out with mates for a day or after college or a film.

Never again....bar maid very rude (totally unnecessary) after my complaint about a very poor beer!! Even charged £3 to enter the place .... newcastle is loaded with better venues!!

Came for the Sunday afternoon Jazz and it was brilliant, really enjoyed it! Nice blue decor and plenty of seating. Glass of white wine was ok. Had a ham n cheese bap which was nice. Staff was friendly. £5 entry

Have some fond memories over decades of this pub. Don't get it now.

Very good quality music new owners great beers staff very friendly and been told going to be severing food. Freshly made not frozen I've been talking to the the guy who is going to be doing the food.
