Miller & Carter in Newcastle-under-Lyme

As always, a wonderful meal. Great service, comfortable and warm. The best creme brulee I've ever eaten. Always attentive to requests. Our go to from now on.

We went for Christmas lunch and were busy as always. The staff are always friendly but service was a bit slow. The starters are pretty average as a rule with overcooked chicken and ok prawns. The steak is always nice and I love the onion things you get. The menu on how to order is a bit confusing for people and heard this a lot. We all thought for the money it didn’t blow us away. They also tried to charge us £40 service charge for poor service which isn’t good (we didn’t pay that). With some tweaks this could be amazing but falls short and been twice now and both times the same.

My partner and I visited Miller and Carter Talke for lunch on Christmas Day and enjoyed our experience. We were warmly welcomed by the General Manager Rachael and introduced to our waitress Emmie who looked after us well! We both opted for the king prawns as our starters and the turkey as our main. Both were delicious. For desserts we opted for the traditional Christmas pudding and the apple tart which rounded off the meal well. With a good selection of wines and a lovely ambiance I would highly recommend.

We visited M&C Talke on Saturday 28th December. When we arrived it was very busy but the ladies on the host station were very friendly and inviting. Our table wasn't quite ready and were asked to visit the bar to get drinks and wait for our table. We both chose a cocktail from the festive drinks section and these were made fresh by the bar team. We were approached by the host to advise our table was ready, we were sat in the older part of the building which was absolutely stunning. We placed our orders and waited for our food, we asked our waitress for another round of drinks, these were delivered with 5 minutes, our food was delivered, about 15 minutes later, it was piping hot and so tasty. All in all a very lovely evening, with knowledgeable staff who clearly enjoy what they do. Thank you to Rachael and her team for making our evening so enjoyable

Very disappointed with this Miller and Carter, Had some superb experiences at M&C around the country but this one was disappointing, The welcome was a bit frosty by the young man at the reception area,he showed us to our table and said we would have a waitress, Can’t remember the waitresses name but she wasn’t the friendliest we have had and as she was described as a steak expert she did not once explain the steaks or menu, Our starters were nice,the Chipotle chicken and garlic breads were good hence why a 2 rating instead of 1, The steaks were terrible,my wife’s was unchewable,mine was well overcooked, The chips with them were again overcooked and should have been thrown in the bin and fresh ones cooked, All in all a very poor experience,we will not be returning to this Miller and Carter.

Been miller and carter a fair few times never ever had a problem with the food. I went today with my partner, asked for medium rare & the steak came out really rare, then came out well done. Then to top it off the third time round the 2nd steak as it was a platter was really rare again.. at this point we gave up. Not one to leave these kind of reviews but when you pay £100+ for a meal then you expect it to be done how you asked the first time not 3 times to still be wrong.

Well, what can I say! Simply excellent! We came as a family of 8 for our Christmas ‘meet up’. We had such a lovely time, and were taken care of by a young g lady by the name of Autumn! Well she was faultless, lovely! Friendly! Quick! Funny! And very smiley and welcoming! She is an asset to this restaurant. So thank you ‘Milker & Carter’ for the lovely time we had. ♥️♥️

I booked Miller and Carter for our works Christmas meal provided a pre order which was double checked upon our arrival. Food was amazing, atmosphere was brilliant. The staff were spot on, very attentive without being to pushy or rushing us through the meal. Simon and Emmie were great with us. Scott, Autumn and Liam were also amazing. They knew whose each meals were and were always happy to make sure that everything was ok and the meals were correct. Can't thank them enough for a brilliant evening.

It was my birthday Thurs so me my daughter and granddaughter came for a meal at 6pm Friday 6th dec a lovely member of staff name Emma was really professional and very polite and was very welcoming nothing was any trouble to her top marks

I often come to miller and Carter and absolutely love it, the cuts of steak are always amazing, best steak around by far and always cooked to perfection. Service is always great and it's a lovely restaurant. However, the past 3 times I have been now in a matter of 4 weeks the food has been cold? I've come to the conclusion maybe it's not being brought to the table as soon as the chef has placed it under the heat lamps?? because the butter on the steak has melted before it has come to the table and I have seen my meal two times prior to today sitting under the lamps for quite some time. I'm not one to complain ever but it's not like it's a cheap dinner out and it's important for some people (not myself so much) but others to have "hot" food. Sorry for complaining but please can you address this. Staff are always great and can't fault them working hard and doing their job. Thanks

Came in here as I had been stuck in traffic and couldnt be bothered to cook and to say I’m pleased I did is an understatement! The food was outstanding and our waitress Ellie was brilliant.

Usually love the steak from here but tbh the steak was fatty, the sauces have also changed and are thinner than they used to be. Didn’t like the bernaise (bone marrow) nothing like the old bernaise sauce and only sauce that looked decent was the peppercorn sauce. Family had the dripping sauce and this was also watery… like the others. The lettuce wedge was nice but barely any Stilton on as it used to be. It’s the first time I’d say I’ve had a poor meal here and there were lots of us. Parents felt the onion thing was under cooked and my steak was not well done which is what I asked for. I don’t like blood. Never had a problem here before but seems as though we were a big group of 9 and the bill was £400 I would have expected better. However, our waitress was lovely and attentive.

It was our 1st visit. The welcome was 1st class along with the food and waitress. The only disappointment was how long we had to wait for the bill. Also, there was a dead bluebottle in the window.

This was my first time visiting with my partner and we were very happy, arrived and checked in quickly and efficiently by the manager that night Simon who was friendly and knowledgeable, we were seated and a drinks order taken and delivered quickly and although it was busy the food came out fast and was delicious. We came for an early dinner and Silvestru was a fantastic waiter who accommodated all our needs, he did often check-backs while still making sure everyone else was okay. He made the whole experience lovely.

Long wait for food, table not cleared after starters. Mains arrived only after requested. Food looked like it had been under heat lamps for a long time. The ribs were just about warm and the cod dish was rubbery, dry and looked completely inedible. Sent cod back and requested fries as a replacement. These arrived and were tepid at best. Lewis was great with dealing with orders and chasing food delivery. Management apologised and authorised a refund for the cod dish without dispute. The conclusion that we've come to is that the table that we chose to sit at didn't have a designated server, so nobody, on the floor, was responsible. However, the people in the kitchen must have seen the food sitting there for an extended amount of time. Maybe they should have been more proactive about making sure that the dishes were served in a timely manner. What a disappointment.

We decided on the special price menu as we went for lunch. There are only 4 starters to choose from and we had the salt and pepper Calamari (just ok deep fried from frozen). We then had the steak option which my friend enjoyed. I had the fish and chips which were poor quality and presentation. The smallest portion of 'peas' I have ever seen in the same size pot as the tartar sauce. The puddings did not tempt us. The place was very busy and clearly most people enjoy it here. For me the food was only OK. Service good though. Nice surroundings for ladies who lunch but food offerings are getting worse quality as time goes on.

For a week night service was slow and didn’t appear overly busy. We asked for our steaks medium but I would say they were closer to rare. We ordered water for the table twice and it never came. Staff were pleasant.

This was my first time coming to Miller and Carter and we were coming for my anniversary with my partner. We are more than happy with our visit! It was such a wonderful experience and all the staff were so lovely, especially Ellie who served us during our time there. The food was delicious and was so worth how much you have to pay. We defiently will be going back again. We had 2 starters, 2 main and 1 dessert as well as 2 sides and 3 drinks which equalled to £108 (personally i don't think that is bad for money for a steak house.) The only thing i would recommend as a whole for improvement for the place is that they add extra lighting on the car park.

Always do a banging steak, in my opinion, but you get what you pay for as it's not a cheap do. Had a sharing steak dish with a bottle of wine, everything was delicious!

I’ve never been to miller &carter before. In all honesty I was expecting it to be more expensive than it was. We had a set meal for £17. This was a starter and main. The food was beautiful. Very pleasantly surprised how much we enjoyed it. Staff very professional and very clean. I will definitely go back
