They stamped my card as another’s then took it back and gave my card with an existing stamp to another customer .. I asked why they wouldn’t just give me my card with the extra stamp they mistakenly did and she was rude beyond making an embarrassing situation & evidently can’t count to three because she gave them my card with and extra stamp .. then I get my latte and it taste nothing like is does every time Ivr ordered before .. won’t be back as there is also a much nicer inde cafe now in Newcastle that actually cost less

Although a chain, I love this place. Nice atmosphere, chilled music, staff polite and friendly. Dogs welcome. Food is panini type things which can be warmed up and there are always tasty cakes. I take my elderly mum here and she likes it. It’s a good meeting place for friends and you can watch the world go by from the windows.

The coffee is a lot better than Costa. Not as bitter! I had the Colombian roast today

Staff not very helpful, tables not dried off after wipe over. Most of the seating is poor,most is ready for the skip I'm afraid,I am not happy with dogs being allowed into store, with the exception of a guide dog. The Standard of Cafe Nero generally leaves something to be desired. Good points are: Excellent coffee and cakes, outside logo boards still look cool, shame the whole experience is let down by my previous comments. Regards, Good Cafe reviews.

I nipped in for a coffee whilst my car was being fixed. Good atmosphere inside and the coffee was good.

The only cafe Nero experience out of 200 visits nationwide that doesn't award stamps for own cup or when using the Meerkat app. Staff's ability to be courteous and belligerent to customer at the same time was interesting. It will be a one-off...

Regularly visit Cafe Nero Newcastle whenever we go Newcastle for Pokemon GO. Great spot to relax, drink coffee and grab some mons.

Nice cosy place, good variety of food, but the advantage for us is that it is one of the few places we can take our dog in. When the weather is good, it is pleasant to sit outside

Definitely the most comfortable coffee shop in the UK and I should know as I drive all over the country for work. My local Costa in Morpeth has just been refurbished and it is now so unwelcoming… this is lovely, and my latte was nice too.

A reliable cafe Nero, comfy seating and tasty drinks and cakes. Unfortunately they are experiencing a mold issue above one of the windows, rather dulls the enjoyment.

I used to drink, eat & work here lots. The staff were chatty, friendly, organised and kept the place very clean. Today in 2023 it seems no one is managing the place, tables are left messy, crumbs inside and outside chairs. The toilets are vile and don’t look and feel clean. Staff now smoke just outside the actual doorway (really!) - but she did wash her hands. I remember the previous manager (tall blonde) who had things under control and ran a tight ship. Think she went to Costa nr who really do run a tight ship! The chap that works here now is very friendly and didn’t leave me waiting. Not all bad but so much worse than it was just over a year ago. Come on Nero! Care!

It's worth having a loyalty card if you are planning on going a few times. Some comfortable sofas scattered about. They serve a decent hot beverage.

Nero in Newcastle under Lyme is ok. There's nothing to complain about, coffee is good, food looks reasonably fresh (I didn't eat, but my friend did) the only criticisms I have is that the tables available are usually laden with used trays and cups and with the place only being small in size it looks untidy. The staff work hard but if it's a busy period this will be the reason. The venue itself is a little tired and could do with updating. On the whole it's ok.

Had a really nice frappe and I bought some slices of cake to take away. Upon opening the boxes at home couldn't help but laugh at the size of the portions I was given. Just aswell my cake was tiny, it was awful, tge most disappointed I've ever been at a cheesecake, ot was bland, boring, and the texture was confusing, a biscuit base, cream cheese top, mixed with fruit and muffin pieces, all tge texture, explain that? 🤔😂 The frappe worth every penny, but the cakes I should have been paid for!

Update: slight improvement but still more tables required pls. I like Nero but there is never a place to sit. Always packed with people who seem to stay there for hours. Get more tables and open up the upstairs too.

I prefer old school greasy spoon cafes and don’t usually go to places like this but went for a meeting. It was fine, staff were friendly, but I still can’t get over paying over two quid for a cup of tea that is basically a teabag that cost pennies, a cup of boiling water and a splash of milk.

Called in for coffee..an Asian lady served..coffee was great..service was great.. there was 2 servers today around 11.30am..the other one was a gothic looking girl. She served someone behind me. An older gentleman who struggled with mobility. It was plain too see. He asked the batista if she could put the drinks on the table for him. She rolled her eyes and carried on serving the next person. I asked I cud assist him..he couldn't thank me enough. Said he was gonna complain. She was so ignorant..definitely shouldn't be working in hospitality.

Nero's coffee tops them all in my eyes. This place has decent seating outside and a nice atmosphere inside. Great selection of cakes. It's also dog friendly :)

Friendly and helpful. Coffee was really good. Had oat milk with it.

Editing my review to reflect current experience as I am very pleased to say I had a lovely experience, the pistachio latte I had was lovely and so were the other customers, I actually came in with my son who wasn't always quiet and I didn't feel unwelcome at all. I need to mention that the barista that made the babycchino crafted it with such care and attention to detail that I wanted to drink it myself! I sadly didn't get his name but his shirt said finalist in the barista championship (I certainly see why!) so I hope he knows who he is. Will definitely come and visit again.

Tables dirty, and the staff are still leaving the spoons the wrong way up in a glass by the till so they actually put their dirty fingers all over the bowl end of the spoon. Vile

Friendly staff and good coffee and muffin. Nice and relaxed atmosphere. Popular on a Saturday morning.

Good quality coffee. Staff are helpful but busy periods could see them a bit flustered and making small errors for orders. Setting is great and radiates comfort and ease with all the leather chairs, but the lack of a counter or station to put your used mugs/plates/cutlery means some tables are left to be cleaned - adding strain to staff workload.

Great place to grab a coffee to take on a wander round town, nice place to sit and people watch or catch up with a treasured person, even outside seating, solid Nero standard coffee, good selection of baked goods and snacky sort of food. Dog-friendly, both inside and outside, although can't say for sure if they have anything to occupy your furry friend like a puppercino or so. Staff are universally friendly and helpful, and the seating areas are usually well presented and tidy.

Had a long wait to get served.Prob due to the amount of iced drinks being made due to hot weather.Would of thought there would be some sort of contingency plan to improve the flow?

Coffee wonderful as always.. the decor and furniture needs a complete overhaul. Absolutely disgusting.. a staff member removed the dirty dished wen we sat down but didn't clean the table that had numerous stains on it. The big red refuse bins were parked at the windows along the side of neros...not a good site too sit n look at.. cant believe such a beautiful old building that looks good from the outside is so horrible on the inside. Neros you should be ashamed of yourselves

Great place to sit and relax, clean and tidy. The staff are friendly and have great banter with the customers. My coffee and chouxnut was delicious.

It never fails. Our favourite Cafe Nero. Great service, choice of food and drinks, atmosphere and friendliness. Reccommend a visit to all and will definitely return. The staff are so friendly.

Compared to the Costa Cafes that I’ve recently used locally this Cafe Nero is no where near their safety standards. We watched people leaving and others arriving without tables being cleaned as the staff were busy serving.The tables seem as close to each other as they always were . Also people drifting in to use the toilet although a sign says this is not allowed but there is no one around to enforce the rules. Concerning!

Went into cafe Nero this morning,never been in before, I was very disappointed with the general cleanliness, the floor was filthy,the tables were sticky,there was crumbs on the chairs,,I never saw anyone wipe the tables,this is not acceptable especially at present,I will not be returning,

Visited for coffee and snacks since it was closed for lockdown. As ever not to be disappointed. Great safe environment with all the government guidelines taken into account now carried out. Limited menu, but great friendly service from the team. Lovely food and beverages served to us. Felt extremely safe and would return here again and reccommend a visit to all whilst visiting Newcastle-under-Lyme town centre.

I rate Nero as the best of the three high street chains. Good coffee. I also like the interior of this one. Good layout. Sadly, the service lets it down. A tad more urgency and better service would make a huge difference!

Tend to visit Caffe Nero on a Tuesday or Wednesday after work to unwind after a hard days work. Love there hot chocolate and cappacinos. Staff are really friendly and it is always a pleasure to relax and soak up the calm atmosphere. Would recommend.

Great atmosphere on an unusually sunny February, with as many people sat outside as in. Friendly waiting staff. Good for a coffee fix and grilled panini, nothing amazing but equally nothing to dislike as it is part of a chain after all.

Drinks were OK, but we have to say that the place is in serious need of an update, clean up and redecoration and some items of furniture replacing......its is grubby, worn out and dirty/greasy, sounds funny but my husband was wearing a new coat and he actually didn't want to rest his arms on the chair. If there were visitors here from out of the area, it would give a really bad impression of Newcastle's facilities.

Called in fir a brew whilst out shopping with the missus. Nothing really to write home about, it's a coffee shop like most other coffee shops. Tasted good though, I'd go back.

My fiancé and I visited 8th September at 9:30 in the morning and ordered two coffees...There were only 2 trainee baristas on and although they were pleasant in manner the cleanliness of the place at the time we visited was really very poor.The spoons and other cutlery on the counter to use was not clean and it took 4 attempts for the staff to actually get a clean spoon to for us to use and before that the previous client picked up a knife for there panini and was also very dirty with dried food on it... furthermore the cloth used to wipe the pipes on the main coffee machine looked dirty ... this same cloth was used to wipe previous clients mug as had been overfilled and ran down the sides!!The tables were sticky as if not wiped correctly and food on on the couch I sat on.Finally the toilets were really in a terrible state Needless to say we won’t be visiting again in the near future.

Visit here weekly, reading other people’s reviews has upset me when talking about staff as every time I go the staff are amazing and always polite and welcoming. Them manageress and her staff work hard and always present their shop to an excellent standard, clean, tidy and welcoming. Recommend skinny latte with sugar free caramel flavour shot and although I shouldn’t the walnut twists are amazing! Loads of space to socialise and very accessible.

A quick pre work coffee from the best high street chain for good coffee. Nice decor. Very inconsistent service. Almost bipolar ! Part ignored me....part friendly...part talking to her friend. Could have been great service but ends up only being ok!

I prefer Cafe Nero to Costa, but it's a shame there aren't one closer to me. The decor is comfortable and relaxed, a lot of dark woods and leather chairs. The background music is usually.light jazz, just loud enough to hear if wanted, but easily enough to block out. My Chai latte was good, a little on the sweet side, but very drinkable. Service was fast and polite. Great place to meet up for coffee and definitely the better of the chains.

The location is ideal for people to meet up as it's in the heart of the town centre and is easy to find. There are seats outside so people with dogs can have a drink, and inside there are comfy brown armchairs.
