Clough Hall in Newcastle-under-Lyme

Been twice in last month to have a meal, and it wasn't open both times. The website states it is open for meals from 12pm, and another time of 1pm. Have tried both times, no luck, despite advertising outside the pub. It's a shame really.

Went for my son's Christmas meal. The service was awful. The meals were bought out an hour apart (from the first meal to the last meal), meaning some had finished whilst others hadn't even eaten yet. This happened with every course. The food itself was dreadful. I only ate chips off my plate. Would not recommend.

We have just left the Clough Hall pub all I can say is it was one of the nicest Sunday lunches we have had in a long time we took a lady who struggles walking so uses a walking frame there was two little steps but we managed them ok with the help of a portable step ,inside was flat so no problem after getting into the restaurant. The staff were absolutely great asking if she was ok 2 or 3 times the meal was super and hot they apologised for the wait but to be fair it was very busy and well worth the wait will be definitely be going back Thank you to all the staff

Only went there to meet friends for a drink , but the food looked and smelt lovely , so will definitely be going back to sample the food , staff are friendly and efficient.

Spot on, super friendly staff. Food was amazing. Blond waitress was super helpful, in fact they all were. They even let my disabled uncle to take a guineas beer glass home, as he was struggling to down it quickly. Top place, food highly recommended.

DO NOT BOOK A PARTY HERE! Cant cope with a big party! Our food order was given 2 weeks in advance, starters didnt come out until 45mins after we arrived, only 10 people ordered starters and everyone else had to wait 2 HOURS for food! My daughters food came out with the starter meaning she ate a whole hour before the e rest of us! To top it off the steak was cold when it came out! If you havr a larger group of 10dont bother coming here as you will pay £40 for a two hour wait. Cold food and £££ worth of drink whilst ur waiting! They arent daft! If they cant cope with that big of a party they shouldn't book them

We visited here to have a birthday meal with the family and had s really enjoyable experince. The waitress was really friendly and attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed even though she appeared rushed off her feet. The food is very nice here and the meal sizes are really good, the steak is cooked perfectly, which i definitely recommend!

We went to the Clough for lunch today 31/8/22 and it was perfect, the food was delicious and the atmosphere is relaxed.The young lady behind the bar was really helpful, we had a really good time. We will definitely be going back soon.

Really friendly pub, great people only Downside I think the bar staff need some training but they are lovely so won't take that away. A tad slow service but yet again down to training.

We took our granddaughter for lunch to the Clough hall on Saturday. We were met by a smiling young man behind the bar and we took a seat in a lovely welcoming room at the back of the pub to choose from the menu. I had the sticky salmon and it was absolutely delicious,my husband chose fish and chips he said you could tell that they were home-made,my granddaughter chose burger and chips she said the bun on the burger was a little dry having said that she ate every scrap. She said her veg sticks were really nice and looked like a little Jenga on her plate. We moved to Kidsgrove less than two years ago and have been looking for somewhere to go for lunch and we will definitely return possibly to try the Sunday lunch next time.

Beautiful pub with a lovely beer garden out back set near a lake. Children's play equipment very safe and if its a sunny day the beer garden is lovely suntrap. The pub inside is very clean,pool table and their homecooked food is amazing.

A pub that I've used on and off since I was a teenager, so many years! Not been since pre lock down in 2020. The pub has new owners and a refurb. Nicely done. We noticed how clean the bar area was. All staff were friendly and helpful. The menu has a good choice. All the food is freshly prepared and cooked on site, no longer is this a brewery pub food menu pub. We had garlic chicken dishes and steaks. Huge portions, hot and fresh, presentation good. Tasty and delicious, we were all suitably impressed. Deserts had to be tried, creme brulé is excellent. The chef passed out table so we passed our compliments in to him. We will return and I'd urge you to try the new look Clough. Nice to see it back to being a proper local pub, with very good food.

First time been in years had meal was lovely really nice place

Not the best experience , food was average but wait time for our food was not good at all , from the time we arrived and got our food and waited for them to clear the table was an hour and 15 mins, and there was only 4 of us , and there were only 3 other tables, requests deserts but by time someone came to take our order we decided against it as we had waited far to long.

Had a few meals now and always been great value for money and always a great atmosphere - what I would call a proper local. Today took the family for Christmas Dinner - big 👏👏👏to all the staff. Food was excellent, yes we had to wait a little but it was explained that there would be delays as they were 2 staff members down including the head chef. Food was freshly cooked, tasty and portions huge. Even had one of Santa's Elves waiting on.

Thought we’d try it for lunch. Nice refurbishment been done but the food, oh no. Frozen over cooked fish & chips, pie dry & tasteless. Sorry but when you’ve got the Ash Inn not too far away that does cheaper & proper home cooked food we won’t be back.

First time went here for Sunday lunch after a walk with family, nice friendly staff, lovely food that came quick, nice big garden at back with a pond, have cabins to rent, definitely go again.

Been here four times now for tea and each time the food has been really nice, it’s good value and the staff have always been polite especially the guy serving behind the bar who is really friendly, I’ve eaten the tikka which is my favourite, burger also very nice, fish and chips yummy. The portions are average, if you are a big eater go for extra chips or the XL mixed grill. The decor is nice and modern now too. Nice food at a very reasonable price with friendly service, will be returning.

If you want dirty toilets,the exterior covered in fag ends and a manager with a shocking attitude then the clough hall in kidsgrove is the place to be! Oh and you'll have to wait a good 5 minutes while he sits at his table looking at his phone before he eventually gets up to serve you,wouldn't wish this experience on my worst enemy.

Nice pub, food was ok. I had gammon which was very nice. Other half had a mixed grill but wasn't impressed, meat wasn't very good. Tbf I tried his gammon and it wasn't as good as mine and his steak was very tough.

I will begin with the positive things I experienced. The young big built man on the bar was excellent ,polite ,helpful and seemed to actually want to be there . The food once recieved was delicious and excellent value for money . Unfortunately all the positives are let down by poor organisation from the kitchen and abysmal waiting staff . We ordered 10 mains and 5puddings at the same time yet the mains all came out staggered and it was over an hour between the first and last main dish being delivered to the table . We resorted to having puddings brought out when we hadn't even recieved all of the mains because we didn't want to be waiting another hour .Two of the mains after all the wait had come out incorrect( we had requested a burger with no cheese as the recipient has a dairy intolerance and recieved it with cheese another had requested salad with no tomatoes instead of chips and had chips and peas given then salad with tomatoes )When enquiries were addressed to the waitress we were given no explanation as to why we were waiting so long and no apology for the mix ups instead a miserable face and a simple I'll ask the kitchen , The other waiter simply replied with I'm not the chef as though that's an acceptable explanation the waiting staff seem to be very young and unprofessional with no customer care training it was as though we were an inconvenience to them when all we wanted was a nice celebratory meal with friends , if this was resolved we would visit regularly because the food is tasty and value for money

Went on saturday for dinner. We ordered at 14:15 and our meal arrived at 15:50 the waitress had a face like a slapped arse, the bloke behind the bar didn't seem to be bothered that we had been waiting for an hour and half for our meal. 1 member of our party asked for a sandwich and they said they cant do it but they could put everything on a plate and our friend could make it himself. The food was actually not bad when it arrived
