If allowed i would have given this place a zero. Worst place I've ever been to. Not family friendly. ..customers sticking their tongues down each other throats in front of young kids and older ppl. Person in charge/manager/owner pretty much laugh in my face when I ask him to speak to them and further told me its a public place and the customers are longterm customers. Not for people of colour as you will be treated as 2 class citizen by owner/manager or whoever is in charge. The food was very bland and cheap quality too.

Finally writing a review after many a happy lunch at The Jubilee. Although we always go for lunch I just can't seem to choose anything other than their breakfasts, which are the best I've ever had. Fried bread is perfect, portion size is decent and the prices are really competitive compared with what else is out there. A family-run business getting it right - good for them!

I wouldn't have chosen this cafe in a million years due to the limited vegetarian dinner options. But I was persuaded to go with family members. I checked in advance to ensure there was at least one meal I could eat. Upon arrival I quickly found out that both vegetarian options were unavailable! To the chefs credit he put together an omelette with the trimmings of a Sunday roast creation, so at least I wasn't left hungry. The ambience was of a manically busy cafe, but the prices were in line with a mid range classy restaurant. I won't be returning, I'll stick to the many local pubs which cater to different dietary requirements.

Family of 5 met up for a late Sunday breakfast. Car park was full so we had to park on the road. Greeted by friendly staff and shown to our table. We had a choice of eating outside or inside. we sat inside. Ordered our breakfasts and were served our coffee and teas. Our food was served piping hot and was delicious. The serving size and quality of food used was very good. Would definitely recommend this place.

This is by far the best value for money I have ever had! The atmosphere is just great and if anyone comes out of here hungry then it must be their own doing. There is an extensive menu and by what I observed it can cater for anyone. The service was quick without being hurried and the staff are courteous and professional, with a little banter if you wish.Food was served piping hot and plenty of it, with if you wish , all the condiments. There is no doubt in my mind that I will be visiting again very soon!

Slow. Sticky. Crap sauce in sachets. Strange menu. No proper decent sized breakfast. It’s like someone has decided you’re not allowed 2 bacon and 2 sausage. And you can’t have it with potatoes. And it’s expensive. And the bacon was tasteless. Avoid. The owners should go eat at the Suffolk Waterpark cafe and see how to do a cooked breakfast. Because everything about this was wrong.

Just got home after planning to meet family here for Sunday lunch .. never been here before but MILs neighbour said it was nice food here so she booked a reservation. When we arrived I thought this doesn’t look like a restaurant but more like a working mans club .. on entering the “restaurant “ there was no one there to greet u or show you where to go so we joined the queue that was about 10 people deep at the coffee / drinks bar ... on standing I saw it was extremely busy , and only saw 1 waitress walking around .. after waiting ten mins it turns out we could have walked around to the side of the bar and told them we had a reservation.. again No one acknowledges you here so we wernt to know.A waitress finally told us where our table was, we were told to sit , and that’s it , no other information given , no menus , nothing .. so again left sitting there pondering why there hasn’t been anyone come over to us, why there’s no menus etc . So yet again up we get ,find the one waitress that works there to be told we don’t have menus you have to read from the board ( seriously) and she told us once decided we queue up (again) to order. Why she didn’t tell us this when we enquired about our table I don’t know shocking service and almost like we was bothering them ha! Upon queuing for another tens mins to finally order our food we overheard it was a 40min plus wait for food . We decided to leave it’s just shocking for a so called restaurant- it’s more like a Cafe and if I had come on here beforehand and read the reviews on what other s say is an amazing CAFE then I would have told my MIL to cancel as it was lunch/ dinner we wanted. A man at the drinks area sarcastically apologised as we walked out the door. Would not go back here on a Sunday if you paid me . Apart from our bad experience it was busy so they must have good food ... they also had a station of colouring books and reading for kids which was a nice touch and a big spacious car park .. so if you want no service , a cafe style meal with hardly no staff and long queues this is the place for you

We visit once a month with friends for breakfast, yes you may have to wait but it is well worth it, proper sausages and bacon, perfectly cooked eggs and amazing fried potatoes. The place is always clean and service friendly, people who complain it is expensive are probably more used to the offal and sawdust that makes up a '9 items for £4' offering you get in the supermarkets. We've never had a bad meal from here and have been visiting for years.

The Jubilee is a family-run restaurant and this really shines through; they provide a cheery welcome and delicious food like mother used to make (if your mum was an amazing cook).I just don't know why I haven't submitted a review before now - because I eat here as often as possible ( they don't need to ask which wine we'll have). My poor Jubilee Restaurant - I have been taking your superb cuisine for granted - and now I will make amends!Anyhow, last week we celebrated my husband's birthday with one of the Jubilee's wonderful roasts. There really aren't many places you can get a roast from Wednesday to Sunday; but whether you choose Chicken; Lamb; Pork or Beef - it is guaranteed to be sublime. In addition to our roast; we always request a jug of gravy (it comes with a generous amount - but I have nightmares about never having enough of the stuff). We also share a small plate of sliced sauté potatoes - which are inevitably fought over. You have never eaten fried spuds if you haven’t tried these little beauties. The meal is served with superb Yorkshire Pud and a wide variety of fresh vegetables; including a brace of generously-sized sauté potatoes (superbly crisp on the outside, fluffy inside) and to crown it all - a choice of new potatoes or mash.If you are not a roast-addict, there are plenty of wonderful traditional breakfasts and lunches to choose from and this includes beautifully-cooked steak.I cannot praise either the food or the staff highly enough - but they sometimes have to deal with absurdly snotty people (probably the negative reviewers) who just do not understand that good food takes time. If they want a fast-food hit - they need to go elsewhere. Otherwise please don't whine - just get another glass of wine. When you enter the Jubilee, you need to go to the bar (just inside the door at the top of the staircase) where you can see the chalkboard. You can then tell the staff what you would like. You can either pay on the spot but- if you think that you might want to order more drinks (or one of their delicious home-made desserts) you can start a tab. So - please don't go straight to a table and act like the Queen of Sheba when nobody comes to take your order! However, if you are on your own and have mobility difficulties - then the staff will be only too happy to help. I have heard graceless folks moaning and backbiting - even after any perceived 'mistake' has been profusely apologised for - and put to rights. I rather suspect that such folks are 'trying it on' with a view to a reduced or waived bill. Once, when my husband accidentally knocked my full glass of wine over; the lovely young lady came along and wiped up all the wine and swept the broken glass away. I was then given a fresh glass completely free of charge. It is this kind of cheerful assistance and grace that puts the Jubilee up there as an establishment that goes way above and beyond the call of duty to make customers happy. Sturdy high-chairs are available for your little ones - and while there are tables for two - extended family gatherings can easily be seated together. If your children tend to run about - be prepared to keep them occupied - or take them to 'McPizza' instead.A wheelchair ramp is provided at the front of the building - and the loos are spotless and always decorated with fresh flowers. What more could anyone want from this little paradise?

Can't believe some of the negative comments about this café. I have been here quite a few times now and each time the staff always perform to the highest standards. The menu provides excellent choice, the food is great and the service is always spot-on.This is not a fast food restaurant so don't expect your food to arrive 3 minutes after placing your order. All meals are prepared fresh to order so you will have to wait a little while, but the wait is well worth it. Good quality food and ample portions. Our food arrived at 11.25 with a half hearted apology for the lateness of it. The food was ok but nothing you could not have got anywhere else for half the price and a third of the waiting time. I have been here around five times now for breakfast and will continue to return. The kitchen door is always wide open which is a huge plus in my view as you get to see how clean everything is. This is a traditional "greasy spoon" cafe with just one very important difference - there is not a hint of grease in sight!! The potatoes are crisp and light, the eggs perfectly cooked, the baked beans good and hot - there's even a vegetarian sausage if you want one! The bacon and sausages got a thumbs up from my other half too.The only reason I don't give the Jubiliee full marks is the toast. I like my toast hot so that the butter melts on it. I'll settle for warm toast with spreadable butter. But here the toast is consistently cold and so hard that not even putting a mound of baked beans on it makes much difference. My guess is that because this is a hugely efficient operation they make the toast in bulk and in advance so that cold toast is the norm here. I did ask for the toast to be hot on the second visit but it still came out stone cold and hard so…..rather than not return to this gem of a place I now just order bread and butter on the side instead. It's a cracking find. I can't believe I hadn't heard about it before. Highly recommended despite the cold toast!!

We then had 3 apple pies with custard and 2 gorgeous bread and butter puddings with custard. 2 large cups of tea each and the total cost was just over £10 each and we could not eat anything else for hours. First went to the Jubilee on 2/2/86 when my son was born , when it was a transport cafe . The food was excellent then and although the Jubilee has seen many changes and new owners the food is still excellent today . It's very clean with friendly staff . The food is all cooked to order so at some busy times expect a wait ,as it's not pre cooked microwave food like most places seem to serve today . Best to arrive before 12 for lunch to beat the rush . I love the sausage Jubilee which has 2 sausages which come from Allan's butchers a top butcher in Colchester not some cheap sausage . Egg , fried potatoes , beans or tomatoes and fresh proper cut bread . The jubilee has a very extensive menu and you can get beer and wine as well as a proper mug of British tea made in a pot not some machine . The amount of people who eat at the jubilee shows the quality of the food and good value . It's a great place for a good value not fancy restaurant serving amazing British food .

I wish to object to this fictitious review.Firstly, our sausages are supplied by Allen& sons, a first class butcher established in 1870 and still in the same family Secondly we are very strict with our staff when it comes to cleanliness, and I can assure you they do not touch their hair. thirdly, we operate a highly effective pest control program and we work very closely with our local environment health offices, we have a 27 year blemish free record. this so called customer making these claims is making it all up and never entered our restaurant or made themselves known to us. but I would be very pleased to meet him and find out his problem with us. Just back from having breakfast at The Jubilee. This is, in my opinion, one of the best places in East Anglia for a traditional English breakfast. My wife had a "Mixed Jubilee" and I had a cheese omelette with sauteed potatoes.Food is freshly cooked and to a high standard. At busy periods this means having to wait a little longer than some other places that offer similar food but it is worthwhile.Staff are courteous although a smile at the counter now and then might help the overall experience!I've used this venue many times since 2007 and have never had a bad meal. The restaurant itself is spacious, good parking on site and the prices are reasonable. We've taken family and friends there in the past and all have been more than satisfied.

The restaurant itself is quite large, and situated just off the busy A12 southbound near Ardleigh. There is a large car parking area, and on the day we visited for lunch it was about half full. The menu is comprehensive and competitively priced, with a broad range to suite most tastes and a large blackboard near the kitchen entrance with further choices. As a family of six (including four children) we ordered a variety of dishes for main course. Unfortunately, the first dishes took 40 minutes to arrive - this wouldn't have been too much of a problem if they'd all arrived at the same time. It was another 15 minutes before the main course arrive for our two youngest, and by that time my wife had nearly finished hers! This resulted in tears for one of the children, and for that reason cannot recommended the restaurant. (We won't be visiting again). Something of a shame, because actually, the food was not at all bad for the price. Whilst we did get a refund for the two child meals, the apology was somewhat lacklustre.

We had some relatives from Devon with their dog visiting the area and needed to find a decent dog friendly place to eat. I contacted The Ship, and they advised me that they were very dog friendly, so we booked a table for lunchtime. Because of the dog, we were given a table in the bar area with a hard floor, which was understandable. The pub/ restaurant was fairly busy, but it didn't really impact on the service, especially as there were just 2 staff members serving. The meals were well presented, plentiful and hot, and served with a smile. Two of us had whitebait main meals, one had grilled cod, and the other had the chicken burger. Everything was nicely cooked and good quality and we all really enjoyed the food. Three of us had really nice desserts, and we all came away pleasantly full. Will we return? Definitely! Especially as we only live less than 10 miles away.

The service was amazing too, lovely friendly staff who couldn’t have done more for us. Highly recommend! Can’t wait to go back.

Fantastic fish and chips - we ordered and paid online (easy and completely hassle-free) and we arrived a few minutes early and our order was made up there and then. The fish is really fresh and it has been cooked in fresh, clean oil, which allows you to taste all the flavour of the fish. And the chips are great, too!

A few months back the Three Jays had new management , he has transform the pub utterly, warm, friendly ,most welcoming, but the prize and jewel in the crown, must be the food on offer, truly mind blowing , people go to the big chain restaurants , yet the food on offer is not a patch on the food at the three Jays. You could almost say just like Mum used to make. Veg fresh favourable , roast potato’s so tasty, nice crispy skin, texture , the meat was outstanding so tender , not paper thin again like the big chains offer. Gravy was really tasty made the meal even more extra. Price was another key , not over priced , A restaurant within a truly great public house. So no need to what for further reviews, go on book a meal NOW, I’ve seen their Christmas food list, mind blowing .
