been closed for months. Its all smashed up

Old pub from my past.....long long time ago. Old pub that some say could do with a revamp, but sometimes I question whether that would make it lose its character.

The best fish and chips I've had, batter on the fish was nice and crispy, home made chips were a good size and the portion was worth the price

Roast potatoes were not cooked properly spoilt my dinner

Great meal very competitive prices

We went to the jolly in fulwell ave we were made so welcome the staff are really nice the music was fab As they didn’t have a kitchen on a weekend they had a food van and we could eat in the pub amazing drinks were reasonable and the pub is clean Worth a visit

Can't wait for the jolly to open again and so pleased to hear Maria is going back always cheerful and always had time for. My mam Who has dementia.

Great service for a large family group meeting up for lunch. Good value for money and excellent choice of menu.

We visited the pub the manager Maria was on her own she was chatty and went out of her way to talk my brother who has special needs.He felt relaxed.... mind I think it was the free ice cream that swayed him. Would recommend the pub Freindly. clean loos and played great music we sat for ages singin along we will be back to visit

Went to the jolly steward and we were made to feel so welcoming by Maria& debbie the place was very busy. Cant wait until food is served,we will be back .

Great night in the Jolly Steward .Marie and Debbie were fabulous company and we were made to feel so welcome. Looking forward to coming back to visit family and another night in the Jolly.

Had our daughters baby shower at this venue. It easily accommodated our 28 guests. Buffet was lovely and well presented. Also curry and rice and spare ribs for hot choice. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend here for a bit of a do!!! 😊

Went today for some lunch and they have an offer on for lunch for £1 When you buy a drink at the bar. Food was really nice and you got ample amounts for the price of it also! Would defintley go back again even to try their normal menu

We often get a Sunday dinner delivered to our home. The food is delicious and piping hot and delivery is prompt friendly and courtieous would highly recommend

New owners are nice. Food gone down hill. Pub needs face lift. Very small pub. Christmas dinner in 2016 was horrible. No stuffing..no.yorkshire pudding. Ran out of christmas crackers..wrong pudding brought out. Ran out of pudding we had picked on our menu. Not orgnised at all. They did try hard. Poir girl was rushed off her feet. She told us she will not be working there much longer..not happy with job. Place has gone right down hill. Christmas dinner was not no way worth £35 per head. Worst Christmas dinner we have ever had in Shields. We have had Christmas dinner out for few years now. We will not be visiting the place again for food. Need a decent cheif

Great hosts a welcome pub with good service and company

Excellent friendly atmosphere beer really good food great and a bonus live bands once a month it has a large function room. The back bar also has a large screen where they show the football and also box office boxing

Not the nicest of atmospheres and unfortunately the locals are your typical sexist males who just leer at you if you show the slightest bit ankle. My dad says the beer/larger prices are really cheap. There's a decent sized function room. They do a Sunday lunch carvery type thing on a Sunday which wasn't to bad. It's Cole under new management over the past few years and they have really done well, a lot more activity days and generally improved the look of the place.

My hubby and I both enjoyed a Sunday lunch from the Jolly Steward. Home delivery was a bonus too. The Yorkshire puddings were fabulous and the meat was very tender. A good amount and variety of vegetables were also served. Highly recommended will definitely be back.

I took my niece and nephew here for Sunday dinner. Me and my nephew both had mince and dumplings. Could not fault this and really tasty. My niece had the turkey, I had a taste of it and it was beautifully cooked and plenty of it. Will definitely return, rest of food all fresh and tasty.

Have had a Sunday carvery here a few times but popped in for a midweek the other day. Three meats, good portions, huge yorkshire puds and plentiful fresh veg for £4.95. Free desserts were on offer too. I polished off a huge dinner and enjoyed apple crumble and custard, hubby was too full. Definitely recommend this place!

At first we weren't sure wether to try the food there but then my auntie recommended it to us and we tried it and it was lovely .. One of the best I have had.. It is quite big and you get a lot .. £1.50 for delivery to your door.. We got the dinners and a bag of Yorkshire puddings and then a carton of gravy.. It was lovely totally recommend

Comencé a visitar el Comisario Jolly volver en 2014 Diciembre muy delicados con mis padres. Yo estaba siempre desanime por la zona. Sin embargo, la comida era excelente y los padres realmente lo disfruté. El Sr. 72 años padre ama la carne asada, mi madre le gusta la sobresaliente y mi hija cambios desde Turquía, Misa del Gallo y albóndigas de sobresaliente y Turquía. Las verduras es encantador y fresca. No al dente pero pasando No Mushing). Los postres son El Yorkshire recién cocinados y no una porquería congelada (mis palabras madres). Cuando los muchachos se trasladaron Jolly nos trasladamos con ellos en 12 de julio (El cumpleaños de hijas así que no han olvidado. Fue aquí donde ella quería ir por su almuerzo) Ahora Carl y Iain están de vuelta en el Steward Jolly es casi como ir a casa. Estamos de vuelta a comida y gran y amable personal. Nada es un problema y me encanta

Decidimos probar el Jolly auxiliar después de leer las buenas críticas en TripAdvisor. Estábamos un poco fuera de nuestra zona para estas semanas almuerzo en un pub pero nuestra investigación nos dibujó aquí. Tengo que decir que no nos impresionó demasiado con la posición del pub. Está en el medio de una gran urbanización así que el navegador via satélite fue muy práctica o nunca hubiéramos encontrado. Me pareció que todo estaba un poco descuidado pero que podía mirar más allá de eso si la comida, el servicio, etc. era bueno dentro del pub. Algunas suculentas comidas se anuncia como fuimos en así que todo parecía prometedor. Hasta que llegamos dentro y me dijeron que no sirve comidas debido a un cambio en los administradores! Quizás un poco anuncio fuera de mencionar que, en vez de carteles sepas comidas publicidad sería de ayuda para los viajeros que no vive local. De todos modos, no tuve la oportunidad de probar el fantástico menú anunciado y no será lo que le da al lugar una segunda oportunidad ... sólo en el caso de un viaje desperdiciada. Solamente he escrito esta crítica advertir a la gente de fuera de la zona va especialmente a este pub para una comida con el pub previamente para ahorrar decepción y tratando de encontrar otro lugar para comer. Nos encontramos en otro lugar, tras un poco de conducir sobre al azar, de las cuales he escrito un nuevo examen.

The pub is a nice friendly eating place where drinkers are separated from the restaurant part.The food is cooked freshly when you order. There is a carvery on most days which offers a good range of meats and home cooked dishes to compliment the veg. The prices are very reasonable.

top class meal and very reasonable priced we went for sunday lunch 3 adults and 2 children and with drinks got change from £30.

Great pub brilliant food and very reasonable prices. Very friendly too! A group of us went for lunch and the pub grub was excellent with really good portions-one of the best places we have been to this year!

What can I say apart from amazing food and service ... The potions are massive staff can not do enough for you and the prices are cheap defo get more than you pay for ... The home made chips are to die for x

Visited for first time mid week, there was 2 adults and 4 children, bill came to £25 for us all including drinks, portions sizes are massive too, enjoyed it so much went back for Sunday lunch a few days later, normally when going for a carvery with young children it can be quite stressful but didn't find this at all here, staff all very friendly and will do anything to help, will definitely be back :)

I have lived across the road from this pub for 7 year and no idea why it's tsjen so long to visit! I will definitely go back and even take the children.... I visit with a couple of friends for a catch up and food, we weren't disappointed. We all had chicken burgers but in different versions and we were all impressed... Maybe I should of kept this little find to myself hee hee.

Been loads of times, food I would make at home but done for me. Happy camper generous portions. Good service and smallish menu but something for everyone.

been told about this place from a neighbour I took the family for the carvery waited a little while for a seat as it was packed. I paid for 3 kids 2 adults and drinks came to just under £31 the place is clean and tidy which is nice to see, we went to the carvery the chef was very friendly and chatty I had the choice of beef, pork,turkey or ham, the kids had turkey me and the missus had 3 meats the beef was really tender it melted in the mouth the turkey and ham was tasty the vegetables was fresh (none of this frozen rubbish) and the mash was creamy they even had bubble and squeak on which you don't see these days. overall this has got to be the best carvery I been to in a long time only problem is that they only take bookings for 12 o'clock on Sunday's. must thank the neighbour for telling me about this place I be back next Sunday

Visited many times. Best carvery in area. Five of us ate and drinks. £32. Plenty meat and fresh veg to choose from or a homecooked menu. Highly recommended

We visited this estate pub after hearing some good reports about its Carvery restaurant. This was our first visit to The Jolly Steward for more years than I care to remember.The outside hasn't changed a lot, plent if car parking and easily accessible.Typical pub decor, but warm, clean & comfortable inside with friendly staff. Thecavery ipens at 12 noon we arrived about 12.10 and got the last empty table, obviously very popular with the locals.The Carvery offerd beef, pork and Turkey , pie & mince with dumplings and a good selection of veg. Other options are available from a small menu.The portions are very generous, I tried the bed and Turkey both cooked to perfection, the accompanying help yourself veg was hot , fresh and plentiful.The bill for 4 people including drinks was £26, hard to beat.I would certainly recommend a visit & I will return
