The Ben Lomond Pub in South Tyneside

We have not been for a while but the Ben Lomond was as great yesterday as it has always been. The service was friendly and welcoming and the food was great - hot and fresh and great value for money. And even though it was busy, we didn’t feel rushed or pressured into leaving. All in all, a great meal in great surroundings and atmosphere. Special thanks to Beth and Sandra who served us 😄

I absolutely love coming here it’s a family friendly pub but also great for a day or night out with friends. I visit on a weekly basis, would definitely recommend it , food is lovely and staff are very friendly n welcoming.

What a welcoming venue visited prior to a football match with FC United. The locals were so friendly spent ages chatting to them the food was good and the prices were very reasonable. A great place

Popped in after a walk in the area. The lady behind the bar was first class. The Abbott ale was well kept & tasty. The food was very well priced.

Always get great service, Abbey and Laura (I think that was there names) were amazing. Food was awesome and a good atmosphere

I got a make your own burger it was amazing, and the staff there were lovely I'd definitely go back next time I'm in jarrow.

Visited the Ben Lomond after work to take advantage of their burger deal. Burger with 3 toppings for £5 or double up the burger for £6. I opted to double up. Service was quick and friendly. The pub was full of locals who were also friendly. Burger was massive. Double Patty, Bacon, Hash Brown and Mozzarella Sticks with a side of fries and onion rings. I left feeling like I was about to burst. Definitely worth popping in to take advantage of a cracking deal.

I had an amazing time here came out for food great food from Beth great service from Julie and had fun on games night with Laura. Definitely would recommend.

Bit disappointed on this visit as we came down for a Sunday dinner and they have stopped doing them but the website says they are. Went for another dish and that was also not available. Great atmosphere and service but website needs updating. Also needs an update on the menu.

Food was spot on, shame about the group of lasses at the top near the pool table, spoilt the vibe about talking about getting bags of coke and swearing their heads off.

The new menu offered the Sunday dinner which was simply delicious. I upgraded to the large Yorkshire (be rude not to haha) absolutely tasty and would recommend it. Hats off to the chef lizzie 😊😊

A lovely pub with a great atmosphere. Service was quick and staff friendly. The only minor annoyance was a sticky table! Otherwise great.

Well, I made it, despite your directions" . Bellowed quietly my boss for privacy we will call him Chalmers Ah, Chalmers, welcome. I hope you're prepared for an unforgettable luncheon! I replied It was at that moment I ran to my kitchen only to find my roast is burnt and gasp in horror Oh, egads! My roast is ruined! But what if I were to purchase food from the Ben lomond and disguise it as my own cooking? I chuckled Delightfully devilish, Seymour. I begin to climb through the window, but Chalmers entered the kitchen. Superintendent! I alarmed I was just...uh---just stretching my calves on the windowsill. Isometric exercise! Care to join me? Chalmers: Why is there smoke coming out of your oven, he asked (a problem they never have at the ben lomond) Uh... ooh! That isn't smoke, it's steam! Steam from the steamed clams we're having. Mmmm, steamed clams! I quipped back [Once Chalmers left the kitchen, i breathed a sigh of relief, climbed out the window, and runs across the street hopped on the 27 and popped to the ben, where i bought burgers and french fries and onion rings to replace my burnt roast. Lucky it was a Thursday where they are buy one get one free I enter the dining room with the fast on a silver tray (provided by me not the pub) I hope you're ready for mouthwatering HAMBURGERS. I announce I thought we were having steamed clams. Rebuttled my boss who's fake name I've already forgot Oh no, I said 'steamed hams'. That's what I call hamburgers. I replied You call hamburgers 'steamed hams'? Said boss man Yes! It's a regional dialect. I replied Uh-huh. Eh, what region? He quipped Uh...upstate JARROW Really? Well I'm from the dark side and I've never heard anyone use the phrase 'steamed hams'. He said rudely Oh, not in the dark side no. It's an primrose expression. I retorted I see. He said gravyly He takes a bite out of a burger and chews it a little, while i sips my drink a lovely Fanta orange I picked up at the Ben lomond You know, these hamburgers are quite similar to the ones they have at the best pub on Grange Road the Ben lomond he said with a mouth full of meaty meat Hohoho, no! Patented me Burgers. Old family recipe! I replied lyingly For steamed hams? He alleged Yes. I replied Yes, and you call them steamed hams, despite the fact they are obviously grilled. By Paul the best chef in the world He said getting that description bang on Y- Uh.. you know, the... One thing I should... excuse me for one second. I said caught outedly Of course. He said smugly I enter and leave the kitchen swiftly upon seeing it is now on fire Well, that was wonderful. A good time was had by all. I'm pooped. I said stuffed and unconcerned about fire Yes, I should be--good lord, what is happening in there?! He said unable to quench the satisfactory feeling of that burger knowing life had peaked and would never be the same again Aurora Borealis? I replied quickly and fastly Ah- Aurora Borealis?! At this time of year, at this time of day, in this part of the country, localized entirely within your kitchen?! He sounded surprised but not as surprised as I was at the value of the food Yes. I said sayingly ...May I see it? He quized ...No. I stated We exit the house as the kitchen fire grows larger not to worry we where off to the pub for more ben lomond burgers and fries . The house is on fire! Shouted agnus who is irrelevant to this tale No, it's just the Northern Lights. Obviously Well, you are an odd fellow, but I must say... you steam a good ham. Much like they serve a delightful pint at the Ben lomond

We had some absolutely delicious food and possibly the best pint of Guinness in Jarrow from Laura (along with amazing service!) Deffo worth a visit!

My partner and I eat here almost twice a week, we can never fault the service here, the food is always tasty and hot thanks to the chef Paul, and if there are any requests the servers Laura and Sandra are always happy to help make the experience a good one. We also like to bring our dog here too as the pub is dog friendly, the staff love to give our dog a treat or two which is a lovely touch and a bonus when our walks turn windy and wet.

The Ben Lomond has friendly staff, a welccoming atmosphere, easy service, Laura has a knowledge of the bars stock and can offer recommendations for what you are looking for.

Always feel nervous about eating out with the children as my son has autism and does not settle well in most environments. Turns out there was no need to worry in the slightest. Not only was the food lovely, member of staff called Laura seemed to sense my sons trepidation and was unbelievable at putting him at ease! This meant that not only did he actually eat and stay seated, I was able to enjoy and finish my meal! What an absolute credit to the company she is! I will definitely be taking the family again and all the better if the lady that helped is on shift too.

Had such a fab time, literally can't wait to go back and Kieran was such a babe really looked after me and the girls and helped us out pick something good to eat, Kieran was such a gentleman can't wait to go back for round 2 ♡

Came in with a drink for a friend at about 4pm today for st.patricks day. The bar was full and everyone was fully of joy, even though the staff were rushed off of their feet Abbey and Laura did a great job of serving everyone with a smile.

I would like to express how wonderful Sandra has always been when I visit regularly, no matter how busy not matter how late she always greets me with a welcoming smile! The reason I return on a regular basis is purely because of Sandra, Green king are extremely lucky to have such a wonderful lady workinf for there company! Give this woman a Pay rise or promotion she one in a million Thanks again

Popped in recently for a few drinks and a nice meal, was served by two lovely ladies called Laura and Rachel who couldn’t be anymore helpful. Brilliant atmosphere, great food and a clean pub. Would highly recommend and would go again!

Love this pub, full of character and characters. Has a fine selection of ales and fruit based drinks. Sport on the tv's all day long and great music. Food is excellent , big shout out to Paul , great cook and is always welcoming with a smile and a hello. The rest of the staff are exceptional to.
