Harbour Lights in South Tyneside

Visited for a family Sunday lunch. The food is plentiful and the meat is all lovely. Fetherblade beef and pork belly both highly recommended. Some lovely classic desserts too - crumble and sticky toffee pudding for us 😋

Had a couple of bar meals, both very nice, reasonably priced.

Sunday Dinner feather blade beef is to die for… The beef melts in your mouth!! Portions are massive. Cruzcampo lager was lovely. Service was great and the atmosphere was so nice.

Reserved a table for 3 people and 2 dogs ordered 2 starters and 3mains all the food was freshly cooked and delicious the cheese burger was delicious according to my daughter and the sea bass was delicious I had the fish and chips and peas I didn't realise they did a small fish until they brought out a (small) portion on the next table (it definitely wasn't small) when mine came I knew it was going to be a struggle even though it was delicious. We had to ask for half to be wrapped up to later be eaten by 2 very eager spaniels. I will definitely be going back in the very near future the whole experience /food /service /price was fantastic thank you Sam and Andy

Came here for lunch with friends. Food was amazing, we all enjoyed it. All the staff were amazing and super friendly. Service was quick even though it was Easter Monday and the place was full.

Great service and food, with fantastic sea views from your table.

We had a lovely meal here. Very nice atmosphere and very friendly staff. The food was delicious. Would certainly recommend having a meal here.

Visited twice this week first time midweek for tea Scampi chips and mushy peas, lovely and home made chips second time today for Sunday lunch, it was delicious, beef was beautiful if I was to have any criticism it would be not enough veg for two people.

Great pub. Tables overlooking the sea and the great importance of Fish and chips.

Had a lovely evening meal, the Korean chicken bites are delicious and the home made chips are to die for. Very friendly staff and a nice warm atmosphere. Would highly recommend to friends and family. Will deffinately eat there again.

Beautiful food and staff are lovely

Can't praise this place enough. Everything about it has changed for the better. Staff welcome you with a smile, the service is great and they are so friendly. The food is first rate and service is great. If you haven't been here you're missing a treat.

I have heard very good reviews so we decided to give it a go three of us had the mixed grill and all three were bitterly disappointed meats were very dry one of our party took one bite a left a full plate it came with chips but we did not get individual portions we got a bowl between us For the price it was very poor value for money won’t be returning anytime soon

Just had the worst fish n chips ever. Chips were limp.n soggy the fish uncooked. Told staff and got no.reply to sending most of the fish back. Was a recky to see what its like to go back with family but that won't be happening literally sat outside feeling sick. Rank

Really enjoyed breakfast here with a friend, quiet when I arrived early on though the atmoshpere soon picked up with dog walkers popping in. Was a while since I last visited, and I liked the feel of the place, nice log fire burning away! The food was fantastic, along with the prompt service to match! Called for bacon butties with friends. Loads of bacon in, service quick and friendly. Log burner on chilly day. Parking outside. Views of river Tyne and piers. Serve breakfast, lunch and evening meals. Book Sunday very busy.

Another beautiful meal at the revamped Harbour Lights. Micheal and the chefs have brought this pub back to life and a big well done to all. A great asset for the Lawe Top. We had homemade fish cakes for starters, Mrs B had the monkfish curry and I had the Gurnard in a cajun sauce. All the fish are sourced from North Shields fish Qua and can differ each day. The service was excellent polite and welcoming. The venue was busy and walk-ins arewelcome. We would recommend booking a table especially on a Sunday when it is very busy. I have added some photos of our roast dinner from a previous visit. We highly recommend this gastro pub. We'll done Michael and staff.

Nice atmosphere very friendly staff especially kirsty who welcomed us and came straight over to clear a table for us , food was really nice served quickly and piping hot we will be visiting again soon

I have eaten at the Harbour Lights a couple of times since it reopened and I have been very pleased with the quality of the food and the great value for money. The staff are very pleasant and Accommodating.

We belong to a local Shih Tzu group who periodically meet up with the pooches for a walk (a small one), it’s mainly an excuse to meet up with friends and have a natter. The Harbour Lights is dogs friendly and they for reserved a few tables for us. BUT, I have to say we had a FANTASTIC roast dinner, we had the belly pork with proper cracking! Very reasonably price, we couldn’t take advantage of the deal for two courses as we were so full! We were made to feel very welcome and everyone was so accommodating. We will definitely be back.

My Husband my Son and I dined here this evening on a recommendation from Sister In Law we were not disappointed my Husband and Son both had the Tomahawk Steak with the best proper chips you could ever have, they both said the Steaks were the best pieces of meat they had eaten huge portions, I had smoked fish with creamy mash, poached egg (cooked perfectly) with a sauce I can only describe as heavenly, will highly recommend The Harbour Lights to everyone. We booked in for Sunday lunch on our way out.Staff super friendly and couldn't do enough for us and the whole experience was a joy. Thank you all for an amazing meal and a very warm welcome.

Lovely place with a very friendly atmosphere. The staff are fantastic and the food is amazing, had mince beef and dumplings it was fantastic. I would recommend the Harbour Lights to everyone.

*NEW OWNERSHIP* Came in here of the back of a walk hoping on a long shot it was still open, Happy to see new merry owners, with a clear passion for good food and service. Chicken paramo was 👌🏼 I am sure we will be back. Highly recommended, Top Chef.

Great place the beer was good service a bit slow compared to the last time in there, but other than that it was good.

Aug 2023: Harbour Lights has reopened under new management, the owners of Log Fire Pizza Co van. They are currently open for drinks & have the pizza van outside which you can take in. The pizzas were delicious & under £10 each. They said for now the pizza van is open from 4:30pm until they run out & the inside kitchen should be open soon.

Belter views ,well worth going just for having a pint by the window. Can't smoke really outside as it causes a mess outside the pub.

Poor drink selection bar lager or tap. Always closed . Just been taken over and closed on a Friday night.

Really good place to be, with an amazing view and reasonable prices. Have had few pints and lunch to enjoy. Would recommend it and will be back soon.

We had a lovely meal and enjoyed the view and a drink or two. the staff were so friendly and attentive. We thought Pat was so nice!

My partner and I popped in here on a drive by... Young lady behind the bar was very welcoming... I ordered a double vodka and diet coke, as there was none on draft she opened 2 cans(no more charge) to fill up a large glass..(other venues would most definitely charge extra)... I needed just a small bite to eat to accommodate the vodka 🙄... I opted for a small side of chips, they were delicious... A lovely little oldy world pub with views over the Tyne looking out onto Tynemouth Castle... Seating area outside which will be ideal on a summers day. Let's not forget to mention the most adorable King Charles resident dog 😍.... If the chips are anything to go by, I will definitely be trying the menu when I have more time 😋

Nice inside. Not busy when we went. But £6 for a pint of neckoil compared to normal was a bit extreme. So only one pint for us and move on. Nice views when weather ok.

Had a lovely feel to this pub, and I will be back.... I hope. But unfortunately after 6pm the menu turns to tapas, and those choices were a little too exotic for the 80yr old lady we had with us. Well, armed with that information we shall arrive earlier....... or I shall just enjoy a nice pint in what seems a nice pub.

It was ok. A bit of a long wait and my sausages were a bit overdone. I took them home for my dogs. Such a shame because the food is always top notch.

Sorry but this used to be a great pub. Unfortunately it's had a massive decline. Its cramped,dirty and rather shabby. The men's toilets were flooded,the tables weren't wiped down in the bar area and it was just not a pleasant experience. Sorry but it's a no from me.

Landlord just slobbering at bar while 1 girl runs round doing everythink,he wont be there long.

Stopped in for lunch whilst we were doing a treasure trail in South Shields. Good food good selection of beers and most importantly, helpful and friendly staff. Definitely worth a visit, we would recommend any if the flatbreads or the burger on the menu. Mmmmmmm

Excellent staff. But the last time we as a family went for Sunday dinner it was not that good beef was really tough so much so we all left it..staff service wonderful

Lovely pub in an awesome location, not to mention dog friendly. The staff are so very friendly and welcoming. Do stay for the food, I've had thier Scottish breakfast and lunch (on different days!) and they were faultless! Also they have a sublime selection of Gins for the evenings 😊 Great venue for live music also.

Lovely full English breakfast but it was expensive. I paid around £26 for 2 breakfasts and 2 cokes.

Fantastic pub in South Shields. The food is always brilliant and delicious. Plenty of choice with food and drink, dog friendly and fantastic, friendly staff. Always love coming here.

Only four stars. Sorry about this, but until the name is changed to "The Rosie" it's only four. The beer and staff are brilliant, they are worthy of five stars.

Hadn't been there in years but turned up on spec for lunch last Sunday was taken to a table promptly staff were friendly, service was excellent meals were delicious I was too stuffed to have dessert. Will definitely be back soon.

Actual meals were bountiful well cooked, and quite advertising. The actual place needs some TLC, not good enough for the area it is representing.

Called in today at 12.45,sat for 15 minutes,staff ignored us,walked past us to clear a table, didnt speak to us,so left at 1o,clock

Very warm, welcoming and friendly staff. Although we didn't eat there this time the food looked fantastic. The views over the Tyne estuary, out to the North Sea, looking over South Shields, Fish Quays and Tynemouth, are amazing. Would fully recommend a visit.

Rank, foul mouthed customers no signs of any manager not a pleasant experience won't be back. New star rating 1 star.

had sunday lunch take out a couple of times before and been good, but last sunday the portions we had were really small, for example only had 1/2 carrot and one roastie.very disappointing considering the high price

Very busy at lunchtime, not much choice on the real ale front, lovely food.

Although still a cosy local it's lost a lot of it's previous busy atmosphere. However as a club for locals it's magic and good food too.

Location is the star here and some nice young ladies behind the bar. Great views out over the Tyne mouth. I could settle in the window with a decent pint and watch the sea for a couple of hours easily. I had a good pint of Oakham Citra on my visit. Cheers

My mince and dumplings were lovely, but my husband had scampi and chips and they were terrible and I think you changed far to much for your coke £6 for 2 cokes it's cheaper in Newcastle
