My husband and myself came for lunch on a Friday in August whilst on holiday in the local area. Large pub with gardens near a fairly busy road. Much quieter than expected and we had a good choice of seats in the garden in the sunshine. Was served drinks quickly at the bar by a helpful staff member. Given menus and ordered food. Food came out quickly and was very hot. I had a veggie burger & my husband fish & chips. Tasted great! Definitely no complaints from us. Would recommend.

Popped in for lunch with some friends and was greeted with a really charming chap who looked after us throughout our stay. Opting for sandwiches and a couple of pints. We never had to leave our table, didn’t ask for the lads name but claimed to be fairly new to the area and the pub, upon asking him for some local directions but he certainly made our lunch chilled and his knowledge of the pub was perfect offering recommendations off the menu and for drinks. Will come back for a proper meal soon!

Really nice food and a large, gorgeous beer garden, which is perfect on a hot day. Nice decor inside (love all the books!) but the ladies loos need a little attention (a broken door latch, a broken loo roll dispenser). There's hand cream, though (always a nice touch)!

A group of us called in for lunch. Extensive menu plus specials to choose from. Everyone enjoyed their food, reasonable portions served piping hot, and did not have to wait too long. Good selection of cask ales (its a Fullers pub after all), so had a good pint of London Pride. Attentive service by our waiter / server, he did a good job.

The offer of an unprompted coffee whilst we were decorating the hall was very welcome...so thoughtful🙂 A big "thank you" to Eanna and his team ! Well done!

I rarely leave reviews so please bear with me. Asked for a jug of water and was served a very small opened bottle which subsequently cost £3. Waitress didn't hear the 'tap' or 'jug' bit. The mackerel nicoise was a glorified starter. A very small half fillet mackerel warmed and very dried out with crispy black edges. I anchovy, 3 halves of cherry tomatoes, 1 and a half potatoes icy cold and a bucket load of green salad to fill the plate! My friend had the pie which was just ok but the cabbage was a very small portion and looked like it had seen better days! Dessert was passable - waffle served warm with caramel sauce, buffalo vanilla ice cream and asked for salted caramel and 2 almost dehydrated raspberries looking very sorry for themselves on the side. No fear the chocolate brownie will be too much, it wasn't! I had half a peroni and it all cost over £50. Not value for money at all. Used to be such a good pub with good food so as I say, disappointing.

Lovely feeling Pub, great gardens, nice staff, all let down by so so food. Green Thai chicken, burgers, and a steak plus other dishes between 7 of us all of us said just poor to average small portions and all agreed never again, The steak at £27 was not worth half that chewy and fatty with gristle right through it Shame. as the location and everything else is fabulous, even the Guinness was 'Off' and returned Could be so much more, and being near empty in the restuarant on a friday night should have run alarm bells.

Being one of 3 local pubs, decided to give it a wide berth last year as the levels of service and quality of food had gone from very good to merely average. But on a whim, decided to give it another go last night... I should have just driven to the next park when we saw no-one sitting in their beer garden. And I mean no-one. On a Saturday night! So let's get some drinks and enjoy the beer garden to ourselves. My wife asked for a Wine List - and was told there wasn't one! This a Fullers Pub isn't it?! Anyway, drinks duly ordered, we went out into the Beer Garden. It's just a little...unloved. A lovely space, great light but the tables and benches could simply do with a spruce up and perhaps mow the grass. And having multiple table numbers on the tables ( some written in Marker pen!) really didn't give the right impression. Food duly ordered. I went for their Burger which to be fair has been good in the past. But not this time. Toasted Brioche which was certainly not fresh, a limp and lifeless but of Salad, and some rather anaemic looking chips. My Wife's special, the 'crab burger' was literally a lightly battered soft-shell crab in another slightly old Brioche Bun with some form of pea puree that totally overpowered the flavour of the crab. Which was a good job really, because it didn't have any. But what really galled me (apart from the £15 price for a 'burger') was the total lack of presentation: A plate, a burger and some chips. Now I'm not saying I like food served on a plank with chips in a mini basket or something, but this was really a zero effort plate when it came to presentation...and flavour. This place needs a drastic overhaul. Until it does, we won't be coming back.

Have driven past Jolly Farmer several times since moving to the area, spur of the moment we decided to book for lunch on Saturday; fan of several good pubs in the area (Fur & Feather, The Shoe, Hen & Chicken, Anchor, The Star to name a few); loved the allergen information on the web site, very cool - mentioned a Gluten Intolerant diner when making online reservation: never acknowledged when being received, no allergen information on the menu..Service at the table was slow - drinks orders took time to deliver and had to be checked fro accuracy by separate staff, before being served individually to the table by a 3rd member of staff (query lime in Hendricks gin though?); food took time to arrive however in fairness with the statement "This is what great pub food should be about fresh, local ingredients and a menu that caters for all tastes. Our seasonal dishes are all freshly prepared and home-cooked food, using Hampshire produce as much as possible. And because all our food is cooked from scratch, we are happy to accommodate any dietary requirements you might have!" on the web site the expectation is already set and the wait didn't matter.4 mains, the signature steak mushroom and Fullers was average tbh, not much filling, stodgy/undercooked pastry, luke warm gravy and we'll address the chips later. Peri Peri Chicken - all good (chips to follow); Chalcroft Farm beefburger (we are Owtons customers fyi) dry/overcooked: using either fresh mince of their ready prepared product I have served better burger at home - and the chips.. Gammon & Eggs, returned mostly un-eaten. Gammon dry & tasteless, eggs undercooked/runny on top. And the chips. When our table was finally cleared there was no query relating to the food left on 2 plates (2 were finished) - I gave friendly feedback on the chips that were soggy, floppy, oily and barely cooked. I explained that triple cooked chips are just that - and they shold be crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle. Our waitress passed the message to the kitchen and then returned to collect last item and admitted she was "Sorry, it was my fault" - when queried she confirmed that she didn't cook them, at this point it didn't seem fair to press her further, though it did appear to be a message from the kitchen. It took a few attempts to convert the 'No sweet menu thanks' to a bill, then a prompt to receive the (paperless) POS machine - no excuse for not replacing the roll when empty and every customer should receive a receipt on payment. We left 65 minutes after arriving - missing the usual coffees and deserts as we'd had sufficient of the experience. To position why I didn't make any more comment than the chips on the day: one of our party suffers from anxiety - which includes food anxiety: she specifically asked if we could go to lunch which makes it a big step for her and a big one for us, making a fuss at the table is not a luxury we can afford, typically drags out the process and can result in panic attacks which makes the next outing harder to plan.To be honest the fayre we'd ordered should be delivered to a consistent standard and any 'chef' that can plate up and send out visibly half fried eggs and soggy oily once cooked chips needs over-seeing: pie heat and overcooked burger I'd not consider a culinary challenge either but accept that a cursory check might miss it: the pub was not busy.Due to the feeling we had at the table that our expectation of the chips vs the menus presentation of the chips might differ, I copy/paste Leah/Manager's comments below from another comment a week ago when the chips were burnt to a crisp and oily - maybe they're triple cooked on average?“Our chips are 'triple cooked chips' which make them crispy on the outside and soft in the middle, once cooked they are then rested on a tray which absorbs all of excess oil.”

Visited whilst in the area with friends on 27th, waited for food service to open for over an hour, placed order. We had a burger, fish & chips and a child’s sausage and potato. The quantity / quality of the food for the price of these 3 meals - over £30, was disgraceful. None of them worthy of their price tags, but most especially the kids meal for a £5 - 4 tiny, skinny chipolata type sausages and two small lumps of smash potato, a tiny ramekin of peas, the bairn wouldn’t touch it - so gave it the dogs eventually. Also, asked for an ice cream for bairn, had to pay another £2.50 for a scoop of vanilla with some sprinkles stuff. I didn’t say anything as I didn’t want to embarrass our friends who had chosen the place.

Recently had an evening meal from there Christmas menu for a party of eight. Booked in October with some specific requests due the people in the party. The food was served wonderfully and all was correct as ordered. No fault with any of the food, even the brussel sprouts were prepared well as we're all the vegetables.

The restaurant was full and the food was delicious. Service was good, although there was no salad available and yet it was only lunchtime! Oh dear! But good on the whole.

Visiting from Scotland, Came for a meal with my husband, daughter and dog. Our food was excellent, and the staff were very approachable and friendly. Prices were good as well. Lovely big car park and outdoor area for summer months. We were in the area for two weeks so we went back again for another meal before we left. The decor inside was lovely and warming. Definitely go back if in this area again xx

This pub is very friendly and has good service. The food is not fine dining but well cooked with generous portions and good value. We love the Sunday roasts on offer, partly because the vegetables are really good with generous portions and very well cooked. I love the cauliflower cheese. You don’t need to order extra and if you are super hungry they will give you more at no charge.

Roasts quite pricey. Poor non-roast options. Dish and chips, burger, or our sums it up. Specials added two more burgers to the selection. Lazy menu choices. Meat on roast ok. Parsnips not honey roasted, greens not buttered as stated on menu. Cauliflower cheese lacked any form of cheese . Very little gravy, had to ask for more. Chicken "cooked two ways" just means two pieces of chicken cooked separate to each other. Typical Fuller's trying to be fancy, but missing the basics.

I always like the friendly and relaxed atmosphere at the JF. It`s a good place to meet colleagues for parish footpath meetings, usually just for drinks but sometimes for food, which is always good

I have been a few time now to the Jolly Farmer, Blacknest. Sundays are my favourite time to go. Although the food there is outstanding the whole time. The sunday lunches are just how mum used to make. The prices are good, the food is fresh and the chocolate brownie is probably the best brownie I have had.

I recently used Number One The Square for resort suite decoration services to surprise my wife on her birthday, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. Nikki was incredibly flexible and transparent throughout the entire process. She went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect, even making the best of the situation when the resort unexpectedly upgraded our room. Her attention to detail and dedication truly made the celebration special. I highly recommend Nikki and Number One The Square for any special occasion decorations!

I booked a table in the restaurant for a special occasion. On arrival we were told that there was a half hour wait for food. We were fine with this as we understand it was a busy time with it being the fireworks night locally. What we were not prepared for was the unfortunate attitude of the supervisor when we complained to her about it being an excessive wait of one and a half hours for the food. She did not care at all. She was smirking . The food was very nice. But the supervisor did not care that the lateness of the food caused us to miss the fireworks night locally. We thought 2 hours prior to it was adequate enough. Had we been told there was over an hour to wait for food we would have cancelled our booking. I am sure supervisor will not care but we will not be returning. We can overlook food being late but will not overlook the poor attitude of this supervisor that clearly did not give a hoot and actually smirked when we told her we had missed the fireworks.
