Wow! Amazing looking venue with a very laid back peaceful atmosphere. Place was clean and smart. Staff were friendly and helpful. Service was quick and accurate. The building is a large old theatre, complete with ticket office, boxes, and a full upper circle complete with mannequins as audience members. Food was great.

I very rarely eat here but I wanted a quick bite. I thought you cant go wrong with mac and cheesechips but they did. The Mac was stuck together and was lukewarm as were the chips. My son had the Caledonian burger which was also well below par. What is the point of complaining if your staff think that congealed food is acceptable to serve.

Unwelcoming place. Manager said the table was being aggressive when there was 4 of us laughing and carrying on at the table. Person that ordered drinks wasn’t allowed served had order through app and was told the drinks had been refunded when ask where our order was or we wouldn’t have known if we didn’t ask. The Manager wouldn’t speak to myself and let a staff member speak to me whilst he continued to give out drinks. I was asking why I was rejected my order when I wasn’t being aggressive. There was no answer. I was also told my refund wouldn’t go back into my bank for 3 to 5 working days. I won’t be back.

I’m not 100% on this but I think the last I time I visited this place was when I was a kid, and my mum took me to see either Pinocchio (on rerelease) or Thunderball around 1964/5. So, when I visited this place again last month I was really taken aback (and a tad emotional – no I hadn’t had a drink ) it’s a genuinely stunning looking pub that has preserved the features of the old cinema wonderfully. I only had a pint as was meeting friends in Town and popped into Cambuslang on my way to meet them - it was just what you expect from Wetherspoons a good solid drink at a reasonable price but is lovely surroundings. Love the place.

This doesn't look like a massive issue and it wasn't, but I received a breakfast, all was luke warm on arrival but the mushroom was raw, dirty and slimy. I reckon it was boiled for a minute and thrown out. The waitress (who was brilliant) brought out more for free, but unfortunately they were the exact same. On the outside, this doesn't seem like an issue, but looking closer, you could cause an illness with this lack of duty of care to a customer. These were unfit to be served and an inspector could have a kitchen closed over this poor show. There needs to be some basic culinary training given, and even worse, finger marks were embedded into one of the mushrooms to check if they were cooked "enough". It is pure negligence and unsanitary to be giving a product of such a poor quality. I could tell by the waitress she wasn't impressed either but still served it. But it wasn't her fault. The chefs should be ashamed of themselves over such a simple basic food.

After leaving very positive reviews over the years, I'm disappointed to leave a poor one, but fair is fair. After several weeks going for Sunday breakfast, about 5 or 6 in a row where we've not received what we ordered. Yesterday, yet again, the extras (extra bacon, hash browns) got sausages, soggy potato scone and no eggs. My brother had completely finished his breakfast before the rest of us got what we ordered. All three were wrong. Yes, nobody died, but the service levels have dropped over the last couple of years (on Sundays) Such a shame. Food is still decent!

Having something to eat here for 2nd Friday in a row. 2nd time that staff have got order wrong... First time asked for jacket potato with 5 bean chilli, got 5 bean chilli with rice and tortilla chips. OK it was a fair substitute. Second time (today, 10/02/23), ordered 8 inch vegan vegetable pizza, sweet chilli dip, Side Salad and accompanying glass of white. Paid and took wine to the table and awaited meal. Got to admit that their service is super quick, got meal within 5 minutes of ordering, NO side salad... When I enquired the waitress admitted that she didn't hear me ask for it... Is it too noisy in premises or behind bar??? Service is OK, prices OK, premises clean enough (tables needed clearing) and the food was also OK but please listen to people ordering or ask them to REPEAT order to get it right next time....

With Wetherspoons being a chain, most folk would think that there'd be a similar layout in all of their bars but with The John Fairweather it's a converted cinema. During the '50s, cinemas were a big deal in Glasgow with the city at one point having the most cinemas nationwide. Even the Glasgow gangland saying "Tongs Ya Bass" was allegedly inspired after a trip to a city centre cinema. One thing I'd recommend to any new visitor is to check out the upper level and turn around. You'll find a dummy audience gawping at you as if you were on the big screen yourself as some of the original cinema's upper balcony seating's still in place. The food was also good as I enjoyed a Boneless Basket and a pint of Pepsi Max.

A group of us (8) out doing a sponsored walk which finished in Cambuslang. Decided to go in here for some food and a drink. It an old converted Cinema and when you walk in tis a bit dull and the high ceiling seems to draw the light out of the air. It was around 2.00pm on a Sunday and the place was quite busy. We decide to sit out in the open area to the rear, it's a small area but is south facing so catches the sun and is quite sheltered. Its right beside the railway so noisy at times (trains were no strike when we were there so not too bad). We ordered using the app, our drinks came very quickly and the food was not too long after. The food was hot and tasty, good pub fare and very reasonable priced (10oz gammon steak, chips and veg and a soft drink £9.50). great value for money. The staff were pleasant and helpful, and we stayed for a few more drinks. You know what you are getting at Weatherspoons, simple good fare at reasonable prices. The place could do with a bit of a tidy and brighten up, it did look quite dingy when we walked back through the main area from the external dining area.
