Gorgeous bar area and decorated restaurant. Food was poor. Eggs and avocado sent back due to eggs being runny but stone cold. Second time very similar but wasn’t willing to send back again as wife has already eaten her brunch. Muffins were thick and gooey and barely toasted. Really disappointing. Staff super attentive but chef let you down yesterday.

Had brunch today, using a voucher we had for our birthdays. Delicious eggs royale (perfect poached eggs which oozed deep orange when cut), chips with Parmesan and truffle (we upgraded them) and a glass of champagne each. The lovely Ucha, our waiter was very friendly, attentive and when he found what the voucher was for, brought out a birthday treat, a chocolate choux bun, thank you!! Really lovely visit, we will return - very soon!!

Booked The Ivy for a post theatre meal. Greeted at the door, lovely ambience and decorated for Christmas. We both ordered the blackened cod with fennel/yuzu, which was very tasty. Decided to share the 'ivy snowman' pud which was a shame to eat! Waiting staff, funny and attentive, even photo bombed my photo. My first time in an Ivy restaurant and very enjoyable.

We tried the 3 Course Festive Menu and thoroughly enjoyed everything, the dishes were delicious and perfect for the Christmas season. We especially loved the cocktails and the Ivy Snowman dessert! Super recommend! The service was a 10/10 from all the servers however the star of our night was our waiter Ucha! He catered to all of our requests to halve our dishes and answered all our questions! He even brought the Ivy Snowman statue to our table for us to take photos of with the dessert! He made us both laugh and I’m really looking forward to go back again soon! Thank you Ucha!

A lovely place and a nice team, but this was an off day. We visited for a meal before heading to a show. It was evident that the staff were under pressure quite quickly. We had long waits as the team in were buzzing around, but despite their best efforts, the level of demand was just too much for the number of people present. This is poor management and put their team under undue pressure. The food was good, but such was the delay. We didn't go much further than the mains. On another night, I imagine everything is a little better.

Have visited several times in past and left positive reviews however on this occasion the standards were so poor I felt I must comment. Met some friends here prior to a show in city centre so wanted to pick somewhere nice. On this occasion starters were sent out stone cold and replaced with ones tepid at best. Steaks were completely tasteless. When we sent the starter back our waitress was completely emotionless and communicated in grunts as opposed to discussing issues with us we decided when the tasteless steaks arrived it wasn't worth the hassle. Table was not kept on top of to the extent where we were putting empty cups on the floor under our table. All in all a very very disappointing experience and despite it being very good in past I don't intend to recommend or return. At £300 you expect something a cut above the rest, The Ivy have sorely missed the mark.

Have visited on two occasions on the past month and can say that although the atmosphere and service are quite good, the food is really lacking especially for the prices they charge. The last visit was for the mother in law. When we arrived the road was closed due to remembrance day parade so there was no direct access by car, although this wasn't the restaurants fault, maybe a notification would have been helpful as we were taking an 84 year old woman who had had double knee replacements and difficulty walking. When we entered, two hosteses greeted us and we were told our table wasn't ready and to wait at the bar, I explained that my mother in law would need a chair, the hostess stared blankly at me, I explained the situation again and that she wouldn't be able to use a bar stool or stand, finally the other hostess said there way seating by the window but there were people sitting there. The other guests didn't mind sharing when we asked but a little more understanding and aid from the 'welcoming ' staff would have helped. We were seated at our table on time, given our menus and asked if we wanted water by a waiter that didn't return again. Another waiter took our orders. One of the starters arrived, the other didn't until we finally caught the waiters attention and asked him. From the take being ''half' cleared, there was a wait of about 40mims until the main course arrived but it was quite busy so understandable. The food, very overated and expensive for the poor standard. The zucchini strops, although a novelty are deep fried and leave the mouth with a greasy film coating. The olives when they did appear, were 5 olives tiny bowl and grated lemon. The ivy famous shepherd's pie was ok so the mother in law said. The Sunday roast dinners, well, any carvery would serve better. Although the slices of meat (chicken and beef) were cooked well and were tasty, the rest of it was sadly lacking. I was absolutely shocked to find frozen bag roast potatoes on our plates as well as frozen Yorkshire puddings. The veg was late coming and wasn't hot and we suspected was also from a frozen bag, and the gave, watery with quite a lot of grease. The desert was ice cream so you can't really go wrong with that. We finally got water with our main, after asking for it again but the whole experience was less than average. I'm quite disappointed that a restaurant of this so called calibre serves pre cooked frozen food and charges what a high end restaurant would for freshly prepared and cooked food. I mean you can buy pre peeled potatoes in, it's not that difficult. But to charge for a freshly cooked Sunday roast dinner and served frozen food is really not acceptable. Tutti Tutti Ivy, you've really let your standars drop, we won't be returning and had it not been a request to go there after my first visit I would not have returned a second time. Lesson learned.

Summary: This restaurant has great potential, but a few areas could use improvement. Pros: Pleasant atmosphere with attractive decor. Staff are smartly dressed. Extensive menu with a wide range of dishes, all reasonably priced. A few deals offer excellent value for money. The food was tasty and well presented. A nice gesture with a birthday dessert added as a special touch Cons: We booked a table for five but were squeezed onto two small square tables, with one of us awkwardly seated at the side. When I asked the manager if they were fully booked, he said no. Fortunately, he added another table, but insisted the original table was meant for five. In future, I’d ensure to visit with an even-numbered group to avoid being cramped. Ingredient shortages: We ordered three steaks and two seabass dishes, but the waiter informed us that they only had one seabass left, even though it was only 7:30 pm and it wasn’t a busy night. Limited dessert options: Out of the three available desserts, one was already out of stock by the time we ordered. We opted for a set menu that included a glass of sparkling wine, and mentioned we’d order a separate bottle later. However, the waiter insisted we order the bottle immediately, even before we’d looked at the wine menu. This felt uncomfortable, and we ended up with a glass of sparkling wine, a glass of wine, and water each on the table. Not sure why we were rushed to order the wine and served immediately. Service charge: A 12.5% service charge felt excessive—especially for the Midlands. The service didn’t stand out enough to justify such a high fee. While we made the most of our evening, the overall experience was not special enough to encourage an immediate return. However, if you manage to avoid the issues we encountered, you should have a pleasant dining experience.

Unfortunately, the worst The Ivy experience I've had... and I've had a few! The service, the food, the whole experience has always been top tier at the Covent Garden, Tower Hill, Canary Wharf and Blackheath branches (as well as The Ivy Asia St Pauls and Guildford) so I went to this branch, in Birmingham, with very high expectations. What’s even more of a shame is it was one of my friends first time ever eating at The Ivy and her first experience was not a true reflection of what dining at The Ivy should be. The decor, vibe and food were all still really good, but what let this branch down was the very slow and very nonchalant service we received. - Our drinks arrived within good time but we waited ages for our starters. - The gap between our starters and our mains was so long that we had to ask our waitress where our dinner was AND it finally arrived over 1.5 hrs since our reservation start time! - An apology was only made after we’d asked where the food was. Even then, not once during our dinner were we asked whether we wanted another drink. We had the same drinks all evening. - We'd asked to see the dessert menu early on, while making our dinner choices and it wasn't brought to us. Deflated, we didn’t bother to remind her but decided to leave it and figured we’d get dessert elsewhere instead. In the end they removed our drinks from the bill, as a goodwill gesture, but the damage had already been done. Unfortunately, not a good experience.

Now the food OMG words cannot describe how good the food looks , beautifully presented ( Chicken starters on skewers & Sashed burgers with cheese and chips, apologies if it’s not the correct name) like a dish from Master Chef. The blend of flavors and choice of dishes can make this outing the main event for the evening. Felt very rushed to get us in and out of the restaurant, had two people waiting on our table which just lead to miscommunications. When ordering they forgot to add an item to the order and had to come back again to ask, again constantly interrupting our experience, when watching other tables they weren’t interrupted nearly as much. Especially as a lone couple celebrating a birthday that day the amount of attention was too much. When ordering drinks we enquired about non-alcoholic drinks, they only offered alcoholic options so I had to find non-alcoholic options myself and quickly decide while they stood there waiting. Then when the food arrived my partners burger was undercooked, I’ve never been to a restaurant where a burger was well undercooked. As for my steak I asked for medium and it arrived rare, when ordering medium you expect medium, I didn’t ask for it to be redone as by this point I was not enjoying the experience, especially as my first time going to any of The Ivy restaurants. Neither of us finished our meals, paid way too much, and a very disappointing birthday lunch. Wouldn’t recommend especially if you’re not local or a regular to the restaurant. Go somewhere else as it’s not worth the money.

This was our first visit to the Ivy, an anniversary gift from friends, and l must say the design and atmosphere created is amazing in our opinion. We did have an issue with the food though unfortunately one of our dishes was not as warm as it should have been, very tasty but not up to the expected Ivy standard. Magda was so apologetic and offered a free dessert. Also our bill became a little confusing as we had a gift voucher for our meal, which wasn't taken off. Magda couldn't apologize enough, and even refused a tip, as she felt her service wasn't up to standard. She is a real credit. Overall we loved it there and would certainly be going again.

An excellent experience, from the moment we were greated at the front door all the way through to leaving at the end of the evening. The cocktails, the wine and the beautiful food could not have been better. The members of the ivy team made sure the evening went well and Vincenzo when the extra mile to help make a belated birthday celebration very memorable. We will definitely be back to sample more of delights from the menu

Short review: Fab staff. Fab decor. Great food. Hot, tasty, wonderful. Longer review: We went today for breakfast and at the time being 10am were 1 of 2 tables. We were welcomed and checked in our coats. This was my first Ivy experience and it did not dissapoint. This is not somewhere we would probably go again as it is a treat for us but if I could I would be a regular. We were seen to quickly by a wonderful chap who was very polite and our drinks came super fast. Food also didn't take very long to come out. Beautiful full English breakfast, I was quite hungry so wanted a significant breakfast otherwise I would have ordered the eggs benedict...or pancakes...or poached eggs and avocado...or pastries...I'm going to have to revisit aren't I. The smoothies are also fab. I liked that my coffee was a temp that was drinkable immediately however it did mean it went cold quickly! Really lovely staff and environment. 10 out of 10.bhighly recommend.

I’ve been to several Ivy restaurants in England, Birmingham is not too bad, but many dishes could be improved. The steak tartar is one of my favourites, but the taste is different from other Ivy restaurants. I even didn’t finish it. The squid is dry. Main courses are good, but rib eye stake is not as juicy as expected. The cod is very nice! Stuff are very kind and friendly. Nice place for occasions.

Sorry but I have dined here several times but this time the food served yesterday has resulted in food poisoning today. I feel awful and I don’t think I’ll ever dine here again. Don’t order the shepherds pie. Expensive food poisoning. Thanks.

We love The Ivy! We have been in Birmingham for as couple weeks and have eaten several meals here and have enjoyed them all. The ambiance is lively and classy, the staff are all super friendly and attentive and the food is spot-on. Some of our faves include the roasted tomato soup, beef tartare, smoked salmon (sooo good!) and for breakfast the eggs royale. Go!

Very classy city centre restaurant, with flamboyant decoration. Many choices on the menu, with very fresh ingredients. Service was attentive, timings were good for a business lunch. Fishcake and baby green salad both excellent. Would always recommend for business lunch if any size. Have also had Afternoon Tea for two, which is a different level again, a special treat or give voucher as a fabulous present.

We were a table of eight having lunch from the 1917 menu. Seems they can't cope with bringing 8 meals out at once. We had several minutes gap between the first and last plate to our table. This meant that first meal out was only Luke warm before we could start eating. Good value though for the two or three courses

Habíamos visitado dos gatos expectativas cuando oímos que estaban abriendo un pop-up en Digbeth (sobre todo porque era 1 minuto de mi puerta de la oficina)

I took my couple to Chapter to celebrate her getting anew job. We often use Chapter as the food is excellent and the service impeccable. Sadly, 14th September we didn't have the best experience. The food and service were as good as ever, but there was a birthday party of some 30 people which were unbelievably loud - raucous even. It was like being a football match. I have no issue with restaurants entertaining such number - or even such groups enjoying themselves, but it would nice to be advised in advance as it almost ruined the evening.

We had a special event here for my partners menu. Hengata was absolutely incredible! They prepared a totally new tasting menu for the occasion which was much better value for money than anywhere else in Harborne. The food was perfect and the chefs and the waiting team couldn’t have looked after us better. Thank you to the Hengata team!
