The Ivy Temple Row in Birmingham

Enjoyed a great lunchtime with fab friends.

We walked to The Ivy from the Utilita Arena. We were constantly pestered by beggars en route and especially around Birmingham Cathedral in Broad daylight directly outside the restaurant. They were aggressive and verbally abusive, it really affected our whole evening, we dreaded walking around the area after our meal in the dark. The Ivy is really good, even on a Monday night when sparsely populated. A warm understanding welcome, a lovely seat in the corner of this vast, airy ground floor dining area (formerly Louis Vuitton building). Plenty of choice on both the alá carte and daily menu We both chose off the 2 courses for £22 menu. (Don't be fooled...water, drinks, sides and a dessert soon racked it up to £93 Inc tip) Service was slick, and not overbearing. The atmosphere was dented by a rowdy group of 10 whose shouting and competing to outdo one another was a minor irritation. The toilets are up two flights of stairs, and were immaculate.

Beware!! A thief is about!! Hold onto your belongings! We popped in to the restaurant for coffee and you can only sit at the bar. There was a well dressed woman in her late forties who was sitting a few seats from me at the bar who stole my purse out of my handbag. I didn’t realise straight away. She had been calling across commenting on our private conversation which I thought strange. She then moved seats to sit next to me even though I had my back to her. She made the same comment. I felt very uncomfortable and found her behaviour bizarre and moved my shoulder bag onto my lap but too late. She moved back to her previous seat where a much older man scruffy man with a pony tail joined her briefly He left. Then she left. CCTV confirmed the above but didn’t show my bag. I presume this pair are working the nicer establishments preying on women. The Ivy were most cooperative. Just hope they have shown the CCTV images to their staff so they can recognise this pair and act appropriately to protect their customers. I reported the incident to the police. She stole £100 cash 2 credit cards and a drivers licence. How vile for a woman to target another woman.

We were visiting Birmingham for the day, to see the art gallery and museum. Honestly hadn't a clue where to eat and happened to walk past The Ivy which looked very inviting. Although we hadn't booked, and they were clearly busy, we were offered a table. The decor is just beautiful, the staff are elegantly dressed, and the food and service superb. The whole experience was so good that it made our day in Birmingham very special.

We popped in on a busy bank holiday and we were so grateful they could fit us in. The decor is just beautiful. The food is perfection we both had the steak, the desserts are divine. The fact they do clean juice options is great for non drinkers who don't want water Yes the bill isn't cheap but it's reasonable and worth every penny.

I've eaten in alot of great restaurants, when searching, this came up, the aesthetic is fantastic, looks great. But the food wasn't all that, overrated and overpriced, people these days think they can have nice aesthetic and put prices up, that makes them a high end restaurant..... Not at all.

Met up with some friends I hadn’t seen for ages and went here for lunch. Had the Korean Chicken and it was superb. I wish I hadn’t been driving as my 2 friends Salted Caramel Espresso Martinis were amazing. Staff were helpful and friendly. Thanks

We came to the Ivy tonight for a meal as a family of six. Let me tell you, between all of our dietary requirements, we must’ve been such a pain to accommodate. However, Judah was extremely accommodating and super patient! What a wonderful young guy - truly great with people! The food was brilliant the service was great. We felt a little cold but the management were great they turned the temp up for us abit. Highly recommend!

Despite booking our table wasn't ready for 30 mins. Burger was overcooked, and the service was very slow. We've been to better Ivys

This is not the Ivy. This is a chain, trading on the name and reputation of an established icon. Sure...if you know no different, you may think it worthwhile to overpay for well flounced basics, but you can do better. Staff were helpful, decor was clean, but nothing you could'nt find at a Chelsea car boot. IMHO, this is TGIs for wannabes influencers, and it has its place, but it's not my thing. If you enjoy this vibe, you should also try Rockwater (Branksome)... it'll be right up your street.

Outstanding! The service was warm, and the dishes arrived quickly. The beef tenderloin was cooked medium-rare as requested and practically melted in my mouth.

Me gusta mucho la hiedra, pero voy a dejar de comer bistec aquí, ya que realmente no estaba a la altura de los estándares anteriores. Fue agradable por dentro pero más - carbonizado y duro en lugares en el exterior. No fue tan bueno como debería haber sido. Definitivamente ha sido mucho mejor en visitas anteriores. Voy a volver, simplemente no voy a tener filete de nuevo. El servicio y las bebidas y todo lo demás todavía era muy bueno. El ambiente siempre es genial y es un restaurante encantador para pasar la noche.

We were a party of 6 who went on Sunday for my friends Birthday , on first impressions the decor and atmosphere was impressive however we were very disappointed with the food and service . We all decided on Sunday lunch apart from one friend who had a duck curry , all of us that had the Sunday lunch was displeased as it came Luke warm ,plates were cold , beef was stringy and gravy was very watery.The only meal that was nice out of 6 of us was the duck curry which my friend referred to as was hot and tasty . The service was not good as we asked for a pot of mint sauce to go with the lamb dish and it wasn't brought out until nearly finishing the meal after reminding the waiter for a second time. We did complain half way through the meal that it wasn't very warm , but one of the staff came out and said the meat must be rested so that's why it wasn't very warm , but this shouldn't affect the rest of the meal 's temperature surely. The manager did remove £60 from the final bill to rectify their mistakes , but sadly we have decided we will not be returning to the ivy Temple row . I have left a honest review in the hope these issues can be corrected for future customers.

The standard of the food was acceptable, except for one meal, the Shepherds pie, which was tiny in size. It looked forlorn plonked by itself in the middle of a large plate with no vegetables or other accompaniments! When I am paying £19.95, this is very poor value and is something that The Ivy should look at changing! It has put me off the place.

We went to the ivy in Birmingham yesterday for Afternoon Tea. The location is really beautiful but the service was awful! We arrived and had to wait for our table but the bar was complete fully seated so we were standing around. Then finally a space free - we than were waiting to be served for drinks. Strangely a minute after we got our Prosecco our table was ready. We had to carry our drinks to the table were we than waited 50 minutes for our afternoon tea!!!! The afternoon tea arrived and the truffle pralines were missing !!! The food is lovely presented and the savory part was really nice but the scone and little cakes was average. The table wasn’t cleaned for ages after we finished and because the table is so small it was not possible to have a nice conversation with eachother and we had to ask for anything. I even spilt my 15£ champagne because of the waiter. We haven’t payed the servicecharge but still came to a bill around 150£.

Dinner on a very busy Saturday evening. Staff were clearly stretched, but all handled the service well. Meal was lovely and very good value for money. Been a few times and will continue to visit.

As a solo female lunchtime diner, the staff were outstanding. They made me Feel welcome at the check in desk, gave me a corner table so I didn’t feel self conscious & treated me very kindly. My waiter was an extremely solicitous & polite young man; the food was really delicious (fishcake & chips), a nice crisp glass of rosé to compliment it, followed by a latte to finish & although trepidatious of going alone, I felt comfortable at all times. I was really impressed & would go again either solo or with family/friends.

A typical Ivy restaurant, except for the service. Perfect location, excellent decor, great food but the service was terrible. The servers were unhelpful, dismissive, not interested in helping and did not want to offer anything except the top price items. Quite disappointing and very unlike my previous Ivy experiences.

The interior design was perfect, and the food quality was excellent. The ambiance felt unique and comfortable. However, the service was average, and the waiter’s behavior was neither kind nor friendly.

Travelled 30 minutes to the Ivy yesterday to enjoy a Sunday lunch for my birthday treat! The Ivy’s lovely art deco interior promises old world style and service . The staff certainly were warm and friendly . Their welcome gave me confidence that my experience would be enjoyable. However the promise was unfulfilled! We were seated near a young family who allowed their young child to play an iPad at full volume and a group of hooded youths slouched on seats using mobiles. Our Roast dinner arrived with a mass of dry potatoes and Yorkshire puddings but a tiny portion of veg! It was lukewarm warm and our waiter ( who was very charming) was run off his feet serving too many tables so by the time we could ask for additional sauces it was even less warm. All in all a disappointing experience .

Beautiful afternoon spent at the IVY we ate off the brunch menu which was vast and reasonably priced for the quality food we received.

My wife and I absolutely love visiting The Ivy Birmingham for breakfast, and once again, it did not disappoint. I had booked a table for 11am, and despite arriving a little early, we were warmly welcomed and promptly seated. The hospitality here is exceptional—every staff member we encountered was attentive, respectful, and genuinely kind. The restaurant’s interior is simply stunning, exuding a refined yet inviting atmosphere that enhances the entire dining experience. We ordered English Breakfast Tea, Buttermilk Pancakes, and the Vegetarian English Breakfast. The service was efficient, with our food arriving in just 10–15 minutes. Each dish was beautifully presented, and every bite was an absolute delight. The components of my English breakfast were cooked to perfection. The tea, in particular, was so comforting and flavorful that I found myself savoring every sip. For such a high-quality experience, the pricing was very reasonable—our total bill came to £37.29. Given the exceptional food, service, and ambiance, I’d say it was well worth it. The Ivy Birmingham easily ranks among my top three breakfast spots in the city. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, I highly recommend it for an exceptional start to your day.

The service and ambience were so so good. The food was served accommodating my allergies and was delish, wouldn’t mind paying the price. Very impressive!

A real let down. I have very fond memories of the London Ivy. The service was awful. Our waitress who took our drinks order was uninterested, verging on rude. We waited 15 mins for her to come and take our order and almost 30 minutes before our food order was taken. This was at 11 am and the place wasn't busy. Incredibly disappointing

First...it ain't cheap its The Ivy ....but you'll have known that when you booked ...That aside...it was a wonderful experience...I'm just a humble postie so these treats are few and far between so they have to be enjoyable...and this experience was. I had steak tartare to start...it was exquisite..my wife had scallops which she liked...though in fairness was not blown away...Then the mains My chicken milanese was the best I've ever eaten with a side of buttered peas and asparagus...I absolutely loved it...My wife absolutely loved her ossobuco the meat seemed to melt from the bone...Service was wonderful...Tables were very close to each other ...which bothered me not the slightest as everybody seemed to be having a good time....Il be saving up the pennies to make sure we eat there again soon...loved it...

Bad service tough steak over priced. Ordered wine placed in ice bucket away from table noticed waitress pored our wine at another table. When challenged she stated she would have to ask the manager if they could rellac3 it ??? It was our wine but gave some of it to another table. My son ordered steak it went back twice was a cheap steak and not cooked tough as anything. We told them to just take it away. Very disappointing evening.

From the moment we arrived we were looked after. We all had 3 courses which all tasted lovely. Ucha our waiter was particularly helpful as well as the other staff. The atmosphere was lovely and in gorgeous surroundings. We had a lovely time and hope to be back. Definitely recommend for that extra special day.

What an experience. Walked in off the street to be welcomed by Mike the bar tender. Having just had lunch at Pasture it was a hard act to follow but I can honestly say Mike you made our entire day. Great service, attention to detail & you most certainly went that extra mile. I tried to leave you a tip & your reply was the lord will reply you. I hope the lord watches how hard you word & how much you deserve your reward. I love leaving a place remembering great times, this was definitely one.

Ordered: Starter - French onion soup Main - Fishcakes and Fillet Steak Sides - creamed spinach, asparagus and truffle and Parmesan chips.

Outstanding service and food without insane prices

Absolutely loved it, I surprised my friend to celebrate her up coming 60th birthday. Food was amazing and she loved the surprise free birthday dessert complete with candle. The staff were amazing, couldn't be more helpful We moved to the seating area for a pot of tea to soak in the atmosphere....look forward to our next visit and many more to come...highly recommend.

This was one of my most impressive breakfasts ever- lovely inside and out, this is the place to be for your meals. The staff took us to the window seat as a group of four. The staff were friendly and smartly dressed. I had pancakes with fruit and strawberry sauce, my partner had avocados on toast and the others had full English. No complaints at all. The coffee was tasty and even the toast was tasty. The price is fair and the portions are good. I look forward to returning and hopefully the lady who served us, called Bev, serves us again- very nice lady with a warm approach.

For treating yourself and your loved one, The Ivy is the best choice. The food is nice, the beverage is good, the vibe is the best. I always come to dine there as my selftreat.

The restaurant is nice however the food didn’t quite meet my expectations, the roast chicken looked and tasted like boiled chicken. There glasses had a weird smell of like eggs. Their service is good though but food no.

Considering this is a 5 star bar and restaurant. I wasn’t impressed, waiting a long time to receive my order. When it arrived it was warm, not hot. Another visitor received theirs long after the row of us received ours. Waited ages for coffee, when it eventually arrived there were coffee stains down the cup. Had to ask for a knife to butter the toast which we had alongside our breakfast. It was cold in the restaurant and the cloak room was freezing where our coats were held, our coats were freezing when we put them on to leave. The temperature was actually colder than outside. I do have to say the decor is beautiful and the floor managers did assist us with our issues with the waiting staff who served our table. We were offered complementary pastries and coffee and the drinks were taken off the bill with a further discount.

I just had an amazing experience at The Ivy. Our waiter, Ucha, was fantastic. He was super friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal.

Was made to feel very welcome as a solo diner. Had halloumi with red pepper salsa to start (salsa obviously straight from the fridge and a bit too cold), followed by sea bass fillet which was good and tasty. Excellent waiting staff. Live music was on and good.

All good - service could be quicker. If you’re just stopping by for a casual meal on the go, it might feel like a long wait before you’re out. Also a bit dark - could use more lighting. Lots of older folks shining a light over the menu, which is quite funny! Kids friendly environment (2 yrs old)

Rather expensive but the food is good quality, large variety of meals on the menu especially drinks, the interior is stunning with lovely decorations for Christmas. Service was quick and the waiters gave my grandma a special dessert for her 80th.

Ordered the Fish and chips this time, it was fantastic, probably the best fish and chips I've had for a very long time. Loved the atmosphere and the service was really good.

The most drab, tasteless, soggy, disappointing breakfast I've ever had. I went to the Ivy to have a special breakfast with my husband. It took almost 30 mins before someone came to take our order, then we waited for ages for the food and when it came it looked like something you'd get on plane. My husband (trying to be healthy) ordered the vegan cooked breakfast with pastries and a smoothie. The egg looked like rubber and the tomato was a cheap lonely plumb tomato. there was a tiny portion of what was clearly Heinz baked beans in a min saucepan (pointless) to try and make it look better - this didn't work. I ordered smashed avocado on toast with tomato, it was supposed to come with pomegranate, seeds and coriander. There was nothing on it only two grotty looking plum tomatoes. We waited so long for the food to come, and were so disappointed with it. We didn't want to ruin or special breakfast by having to wait any longer to eat so we just ate it and didn't ask the waiter to take it away. At the end of the meal the waiter asked my husband if the meal was good and he said - no it was really disappointing. The waiter shrugged and said "are you still going to pay the bill" .... I will never go to the Ivy again it was a terrible experience.

Lovely afternoon celebrating our daughters 30th, nice comfortable surroundings, atmosphere was buzzing. Food was great. Superb service from our waiter Judah. Will be going back for the cod, duck was excellent and plenty of it.

Booked afternoon tea for two. The sandwiches were disappointing and flavourless. The scones were okay but the amount of cream and jam was minuscule and nowhere near enough for 4 scones. The other cakes were no particularly enjoyable, battenburg looked awful & after one mouthful it tasted like it looked. Eclair had an terrible pink icing (who thought that looked okay?). Disappointing doesn’t cover it

Like the previous review, the music was not what we expected to be greeted with at the Ivy. Very loud, could not have a proper conversation. Glad to hear it is a one off. Felt like we were in a nightclub. That said, the food was lovely as always. The noise is why I only gave 3 stars.

I've been visiting The Ivy for years, but my last visit left me deeply disappointed. On Sunday, 2nd February 2024, we went for a late lunch/early dinner, only to be met with an inexplicable decision—a DJ playing loud music. Firstly, the noise meant our waiter couldn't hear my order, so I never received my starter. Secondly, it was so loud that our party of six struggled to hold a conversation. The atmosphere was unbearable, and we ended up cutting our meal short and leaving. As a loyal customer of The Ivy across the country, I’m disheartened to see it heading in this direction. It has lost its special charm and no longer feels like a place to treat yourself. Very disappointing.

Went to The Ivy Temple Row and had the set menu, which was great value for the quality of food. The steak was cooked perfectly and really tender, definitely a solid choice if you’re unsure what to go for. But the real highlight? The sticky toffee pudding. Easily one of the best I’ve had—rich, sticky, and just the right amount of sweetness. Highly recommend saving room for dessert because it’s absolutely worth it. Service was great, the atmosphere was classy but still relaxed, and the whole experience felt like a treat without being too over the top. Would definitely go back!

An Outstanding Experience with Brilliant Service! We had the pleasure of dining at The Ivy recently, and I can’t speak highly enough of the experience. From the moment we arrived, the service from Raluca was absolutely brilliant. She went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and well taken care of throughout the meal—friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. She made my birthday feel really special - thank you. So, when we visited again recently, we were delighted to be served by her again. As for the food, it was nothing short of delightful. Every dish was bursting with flavour, and you could tell that a lot of care and attention went into preparing each one. The salt and pepper squid tempura and steaks were a highlight—packed with rich, fresh ingredients and beautifully presented. The combination of fantastic food and exceptional service made this a dining experience to remember. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a top-notch meal with a personal touch!

Afternoon tea for my husband’s birthday. Lovely welcome but restaurant extremely noisy and tables very close together. Sandwiches were a little stale and tasted as though they had been in a fridge for a while. Absolutely no almond or cherry flavour in the Battenberg cake. Scones were nice but a very small serving of jam. We were charged extra for hot chocolates despite them being on the afternoon tea menu so had to challenge the bill and they were removed. Nice touch to offer my husband a complementary birthday profiterole with a candle. Be warned that it is a bit of a trek up many stairs to the toilets, passing busy staff taking food to and from the kitchen. Overall, with a few alterations this could be a really good afternoon tea.

Really good service and the food and wine are pretty good also. Not particularly fancy or special food, but it is well prepared and tasty
