decided to treat ourselves to a night out the Ivy Norwich, food and service was excellent.

An amazing breakfast the flavours were astronomical you could actually taste everything it was so fresh and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Staff were magnificent and so polite. We had a voucher for my 70th BD and used it here they threw i a suprise desert for me which was so gracefully accepted although I did struggle to finish it as the breakfast was huge. So we'll done Ivy Norwich we'll be back 10/10 for everything

A friend and I had a wonderful afternoon tea yesterday at The Ivy in Norwich. Beautiful place and atmosphere and the food was wonderful. Definitely recommend

As a vegan (and gluten intolerant) I was catered for efficiently, professionally and with no "drama"! The meal, service and atmosphere, were perfect. Thankyou. I shall highly recommend The Ivy, Norwich, Brasserie, to family and friends, also to work colleagues.

Great food and service, it passes the “could we make it better at home” test. Loses a star because the air con blows cold air down my back.

Didn't arrive until 10pm but the restaurant very kindly accommodated us. The staff were extremely friendly and professional and the food was exceptional. We chose from the 2 course menu which had lots of options and the price was great. Lovely drinks and clean and relaxed atmosphere. Would definitely recommend.

We booked only half an hour before we went so I wasn’t sure they would receive my request for a quiet table in a corner but when we arrived we got exactly what I’d asked for. Our waitress Zoe P was incredibly warm and welcoming (as well as really efficient!) and the service we had from her all evening was perfect. The food was excellent and the atmosphere and staff made it a really special evening. Huge thanks to all, particularly Zoe who really stood out.

We had a lovely meal here the Thursday of the Easter Bank Holiday. There is a good vegetarian selection, the food was lovely, very fresh and well presented as you can see from the pictures. The restaurant was standard Ivy so all very nice and the service was impeccable particularly from Lauren who was warm and friendly and very informative with regards to the menu. The chips were the best chips.

Afternoon Tea for four. We were greeted by the wonderful Jordan! He carefully explain the menu and gave us tips on where to start and his personal recommendations. Jordan made our nans birthday! Although it was busy nothing was too much trouble for him. He is a massive asset to your team. Nanny is already asking when we are going back. 4 very happy afternoon teaer! Thank you

Fantastic breakfast at The Ivy on Mother’s Day. Staff were attentive and helpful but not in your face. Food was delicious and generously portioned. The restaurant is beautiful. Would recommend.

Amazing food atmosphere and decor. Out waiter (not sure of his name) but a young lad who is on a gap year before going to uni was so good at his job. The lvy if u know who he is he is a credit to your business. So attentive and poliet. Thanks for a great evening

It is expensive but the service and quality of the food is excellent. Nice to visit for a birthday or special occasion. We like to go for late breakfast before going on for shopping in Norwich. Nice central location with outdoor seating if you wish.

Delicious food with a gorgeous atmosphere.The 1917 Two-Course Heritage Menu is such a good deal!! Must try the Asian crab salad with fresh crab meat and watermelon 😋😋

Second time I’ve been and the same waiter made the same mistakes as the first time. I requested no additional salt on my food, it came with salt 😩 Replacement mash potatoes were lukewarm. Fish was lukewarm. Ordered sparkling water, still water arrived. Food selection is excellent just an underwhelming experience. I won’t go back.

Visited on a Monday at 5pm and we were the only ones there. More staff than customers but they were really pleasant and helpful. The bread is enough to feed at least 3 people. The tempura squid was some of the nicest squid I have ever tasted. The shepherd/cottage pie was excellent. The crème brûlée was enough for 2 people. We would visit again if we were ever in Norwich.

We had a nice meal here on Saturday night, but the mains took an awfully long time to come out despite the fact we’d had starters. I assumed it meant that they were making the them fresh but when they did arrive they were on the cold side so I’m not sure what happened there. The staff were great and it’s a great setting, just a bit slow.

Birthday lunch husbands treat. Food lovely Dessert has to be Chocolate Bombe favourite. Lovely Town to visit 😊 Shopping great.

Staff were fantastic but Mother’s Day roast dinner absolutely awful. It was tasteless frozen Yorkshire pudding & roast and they were badly bruised. Gravy again tasteless . We sent it back and left very disappointed and hungry.

Went for Mother's day, treated like a princess by staff and my son. Everything great, place good, atmosphere quiet, not bothered by staff, staff explain what tea was. Cakes so good so take time and enjoy

Genuinely blown away in every possible department. Visited for the first time last night and everything was above and beyond, I had salt and pepper tempura squid, sirloin steak followed by frozen berries, my partner has scallops, lobster linguine and then chocolate bombe, and it was almost certainly the best food we have ever eaten, simply superb, my partner also enjoyed the cocktails, the wine list is also extremely extensive. Our server Connor was absolutely fantastic as well.

A great bar, with a great selection of drink, particularly single malt! The barman made our visit by simply chatting about all their drink selection.

Sunday roast more akin to school dinners. Really disappointing food. Staff and service were nice. Very overpriced for the quality. Go up the road to Brix and Bines for a proper meal.

We recently visited The Ivy in Norwich for afternoon tea, hoping for a special experience to celebrate the impending arrival of our baby. Unfortunately, while there were some lovely aspects to the visit, several factors left us feeling disappointed, especially given the establishment's well-regarded reputation. On a positive note, the atmosphere at The Ivy was vibrant and lively, offering a pleasant buzz that made for a lovely setting. It was clear that attention had been given to our dietary requirements, with our request to avoid smoked salmon due to pregnancy being noted in advance. The substitutions were thoughtfully discussed, and the sandwich selection was, on the whole, delightful. The chicken sandwich in particular was excellent and a perfect choice in place of the smoked salmon. The scones were also absolutely delicious – warm, fluffy, and a definite highlight. However, there were a few elements that detracted from what should have been a truly memorable experience. While the service started well with a friendly host who seated us and took our tea order, it soon became apparent that there were lapses in attention. The host was unable to provide information about the available teas, and, disappointingly, the Jasmine tea I had hoped for was unavailable. Throughout the tea, we were not offered any refills, and it was only after having to wave down a waiter that we managed to get a top-up. The sandwich portion was another letdown. Given the price of the experience, we found the offering of just three small finger sandwiches to be rather insufficient. While the sandwiches we were served were tasty, we couldn’t understand why the quantity was so minimal when the dessert selection was abundant. Speaking of the desserts, they were underwhelming. Especially when compared to the superb tasting sandwiches. The lemon and poppyseed dessert had an overly heavy icing and lacked any vibrant flavour (or any flavour at all) it promised. The crème brûlée, a classic and beloved dessert, was particularly disappointing – there was no satisfying crack on the top, and the custard was thick and coagulated resulting in an unpleasant texture. The mini chocolate bomb, while somewhat fun with the addition of popping candy, was average at best. In the end, while there were certainly some positive aspects, the overall experience did not live up to expectations. What should have been a celebratory and enjoyable afternoon tea fell short due to a series of service lapses and underwhelming offerings. After this visit, we’ve decided to look elsewhere to celebrate my first Mother’s Day, which we were hoping to spend here.

Overall a fantastic food and drinks experience

Following a picturesque walk around Norwich Cathedral and the City Centre it was time for some fine dining and the experience was just WOW. The food, drinks, venue, atmosphere was just a perfect combination to have whilst catching up with some dear friends I have not seen for 3 years.

We went as a couple last night and everything was good until the end. I paid with my card and there was no option on card machine to leave a tip and I was t asked so assumed that there was a service charge included in the bill.(I never leave a restaurant without tipping) However when I got outside my partner said did you hear what that guy said in green jacket as we walked out ? I didn’t but he said nice of you to leave the table without tipping ! I may add this guy hadn’t came to our table once. I would have gone back in and had a word but with an attitude like that he lost the tip! Awful comment ‘ Ivy please make tipping policy clear .

A pleasant place to go for brunch. Full English and a cappuccino, lovely!

The food was very good. However the service was disappointing, as the food took far longer than expected to arrive, and the staff didn’t seem particularly interested in hastening it after being politely asked. Apart from the maitre de, the waiting staff weren’t that friendly either.

Had a lovely meal when staying in Norwich. Food was excellent varied enough for 4 people with very different tastes. Particularly loved the duck rendang and the chicken skewers. The service was also 1st class - attentive but not over bearing. Would definitely recommend.

Quiet? Ha! Forget it—it’s so loud you’d think they hired a foghorn as the house DJ, blasting away while dishes clang and voices compete for the world shouting title… think a marching band rehearsing in a blender, with extra yelling for flair. Hungry? Better pack a granola bar, because the food takes so long like a sloth on a coffee break. Oh, and that reservation you made? It’s more of a suggestion—they’ll still leave you loitering like you crashed the party. The decor’s a looker, no lie, but it’s been neglected since dinosaurs roamed—dust bunnies are basically on the payroll now. The staff? They’re running around like they’re auditioning for a slapstick comedy, tripping over each other in a hilarious blur. Just when you’re about to trade your fork for a megaphone, the steak rolls up—tender, tasty, the superhero of the meal, swooping in to save your sanity. Worth it? Only if you’ve got earplugs and keen to pay overpriced for basic food !

We have always enjoyed coming to The Ivy , Norwich. We always remark on the impeccable service and food. Last night we took two friends as a thank you. We were sat down and greeted by our waiter. We ordered our food and drinks and settled down to enjoy the evening. Our snacks and then starters arrived, both excellent. These were cleared and then we waited and waited. A table of about 20 had turned up and we seemed to have been forgotten. We eventually caught the eye of a waitress and asked where our main courses were, she said they would be about 5 minutes, hopefully before the big table we’re served. After about another 10 minutes 3 turned up and after another wait the 4th ( mine) arrived. We had waited about 40 minutes. The food was very good and although we were offered free tea and coffee that was it. The bill arrived with a £20 service charge on which I asked for it to be removed. It was then the waitress said the big table were 90 minutes late which impacted on the kitchen but it should not have impacted on us!

It's ok the staff are nice with a lil bit of snobbery but that's one of the reasons you go there we only went for nibbles and drinks and it was as expected the rooms are beautiful it does a good job to not come across as a chain

We had a delightful lunchtime experience; I ordered the curry (vegetarian option), which was excellent, along with a melon and crab starter that was equally enjoyable. The staff were attentive and professional. My only complaint is the chairs, which are quite low, making for an uncomfortable sitting position. Aside from that, everything was wonderful, and I look forward to returning for more.

Absolutely stunning afternoon tea! ☕️ Although I was told not to go here because there are a few better places for afternoon tea in town, I honestly couldn’t resist the vibe of the atmosphere, especially after my previous experience for my sister’s birthday. We thought that Ivy is not up to date with modern dietary trends. I am vegan and now GF, but they basically has only 1 or 2 things on the menu, which I already had. How easy it is to replace pasta for GF or have GF bun for a burger? We think very easy. 😟

Ate here at the weekend and after reading some reviews I feel I need to add my views. We had a wonderful meal and experience. The staff are very attentive and speedy but manage this without making us feel rushed. The food was wonderful. The souffle was perfect, and delicious. Now the price. Its very well priced. Last month we ate at TGI's (never again) and I was charged £28 for a burger. Here, there are very few dishes above that price. The quality of the food is exceptional for the price. The burger is £10 less than the awful thing served at TGI's It was packed and I'm not surprised

Wonderful staff, food and booze. Cosy and kinda fancy

We booked a table for my daughter's birthday last week.We where really looking forward to it. I mentioned in my booking it was actually my daughter's birthday that day as well hoping they'd offer her a free glass of bubbly or something, but she got absolutely nothing and it wasn't even commented on which was a shame. I'm afraid l was actually really disappointed in the food. I had luke warm soup at £10 a bowl and l didn't even get a bread roll to go with it. I then had what l would call a chicken escalope at £20 it came with absolutely nothing else just abit of greenery. All vegetables are very expensive extras. I didn't order a sweet as l saw the tiny portions other people where getting served and l wasn't prepared to pay the extortionate prices they were asking. I know it has a reputation for being a bit upmarket but the only upmarket part l found was the atmosphere surroundings and the service. The food was definitely not anything special at all and was luke warm and well overpriced, I've had better in a pub. Sorry but we won't be returning.

This was our first time at The Ivy Norwich, although we have been to sister outlets in Cambridge and Brighton. We went for Sunday lunch. The food was of a high standard we have come to expect from The Ivy and the service was excellent.

Great experience, but breakfast was not that hot, neither was the plate and shame the coffee isn't free refill as you don't get much in a cup (and it wasn't that hot either).

Nice venue. Awful service-ask for something expect to be waiting ages, and food was not great. I had a better fish and chips in Harvester the day before, than the fish and chips in here. Also had popular starters on the menu that are completely out of stock, then also he forgot to even say this before taking our order… Poor from a proclaimed upper class restaurant.

I always love the architecture and overall decor inside. For Starters we had the Buffalo mozzarella and the Roasted Scallops. The mozzarella starter was fantastic, cold mozzarella with grapes, truffle honey and a sweet puree. The salty and sweet flavours work really well. The roasted scallops were so tender and full of flavour. On a bed of creamed spinach and potatoes puffs. The garlic creamy sauce worked really well with the tender scallops. Very filling and perfect amount. I really enjoyed these and definitely would recommend. 9.5/10 for both. For our Mains we had a Truffle Burger and I had The Smoked haddock/ Salmon fishcake. I honestly was blown away. The poached egg on top with the bed of peas went perfect with the fishcake. So many nice flavours and incredibly filling. It’s a simple dish but works really well. 10/10! Lastly for dessert we shared the iconic chocolate bombe. A melting dome with vanilla ice cream honeycomb and hot Caramel sauce. It is a great dessert to share, I love how the dome melts away from the hot sauce. A sweetness overloaded but is perfect after the salty starters and mains. I had such a wonderful experience today. I couldn’t recommend The Ivy enough. Really worth the price, compared to today and 2 years ago I feel like The Ivy have gotten even better.

I went for my annual lunch today with mum and the experience was wonderful (as always). The staff certainly know customer experience, as well as a special mention to who I imagine was the manageress (brunette hair, black blazer), who was exceptional across the room in the doing her job. Thank you.

First time visiting, had a meal in the evening, menu wasn't very big, but enough to choose something for everyone. We had fishcake and chicken and also very impressive desserts (most expensive ones we ever had too). Main courses doesn't have sides, but we had plenty and was enough space left for dessert. Also lots of cocktail options, many never heard of. Very good service from staff, only thing I wish I had a chance to pour hot caramel sauce on my dessert (chocolate bombe) as I didn't get time to take a picture or video and staff poured the sauce and it soon looked a mess (all chocolate dome melted). Either let customer do the pouring (which I would have loved to) or give them a chance to take a picture. All happened within seconds of putting plate down. My boyfriend had a very cute snowman dessert that came covered in glass dome, which was also removed by staff and taken away before picture. Also chair seemed very low and felt awkward sitting with my knees raised high under the table. Overall it was a nice experience, lovely decor.

I've visited the ivy on multiple occasions, it's never failed to be of a good standard. This occasion we were a walk in of 2 for breakfast, usual seating, coats taken and handed over to our waiter who was managing 6-8 tables with the aid of 2 runners and 2 bar staff. The food was good, I had the set menu which I'd give a 4/5, was a little greasyer than expected but still full of flavour and the cranberry ketchup was a big win. Only note was the waiter forgot to put our drinks order through when it was taken, so there was a delay on recieving anything and there was no check back on the food. Otherwise it was lovely as always, hopefully next time it will be back up to standard.

Decent schnitzel, awesome staff.

I planned to visit the Ivy for a pot of tea and maybe a sweet snack. I went in earlier than planned to ask about it, and was told it would only be available "at the bar". I left and thought, well OK maybe I'll go. After my other things planned, I went in and asked if they can find space for a little one at the bar, and the lady on reception was very welcoming. Took me through to the place on the right near the end of the bar (you see in their photo on this site). It had a little light at the bar too, so felt really special. There were 2-4 people behind the bar, all super welcoming and naturally friendly. Had a chat about tea, and opted for a pot of the Earl Grey. It came out on a tray with very smart silver (heavy) tea pot and silver (also weighty) jug. Plus some posh sugar cubes. It was all very civilased. I asked about cake, but while they didn't have that, they did have warmed mince pies with brandy cream. I asked if it was 'cooked off' as I was driving. I Was told it was. It all came out, very little ones, but clearly from the oven. The cream had what felt like a kick to it... concered me a bit. So I enjoyed the pies and a bit of the cream, with what looked like brandy around the side of it. I doubled checked after and was told it was about 5ml of cooked brandy. I asked if I could take home what was left. He returned, and 'chef' had served me a fresh pot of the cream with the candied peel on top. I mean, amazing. Really very special. If you just want a pot of tea in super nice surroundings, being welcolmed, rather than just a room like in john lewis which is noisey and a bit dull, I highly recommend it. Prices are on the website, but the pot of tea itself (made I think 3-4 cups) was £3.95 at the time. In my view, considering the surroundings, service and just feel of the place: worth it.

Stopped in for a light bite and cocktail, then it was all so lovely there we stayed! Really wonderful staff. The gentleman who worked 02/12 at the bar serving my mother in law and I was so helpful and kind which elevated our experience. Thank you.

We booked to come to the Ivy for an early dinner, pre cinema. For 5pm on a Sunday we were impressed that the restaurant was fairly busy with a good atmosphere. A good start. The only issue with our experience was that we had specifically booked for the Sunday Supper menu, which was Flat Iron steak and chips and a glass of wine included. We were really looking forward to this as we love steak. On the online booking form it requests you select a multiple choice option of which menu you are going to order from, fine for us as we knew exactly what we were ordering, and therefore so did the restaurant. It was therefor very disappointing to be told that they only had one steak left after we had ordered. I would have expected that the restaurant would be aware of what diners had pre-booked the menu, and ensured that the correct number of dishes kept aside to ensure that the reservations were fulfilled, regardless of demand. This then involved several back and forths with having to review the menu again, which did put a slightly disrupted start to the evening. The waiters were very kind however in amending the order slightly so that was we received was closer to what we had originally wanted. Once all ordered, the food and service was excellent. Zucchini fries as a starter to share was a huge portion (maybe too big?) and the dipping sauce delicious. The mains we did receive were also delicious and well cooked and thoroughly enjoyed. Service from the several waiters/waitresses we received was efficient and friendly and at a good pace, not rushed but not left waiting. Overall, despite initial hiccups, the experience was very enjoyable. We particularly enjoyed the mix of festive and non-festive music being played. It was just the right balance for early december!

We had a pre-lunch drink at the bar which was fascinating to watch the bar tenders make their cocktails etc. We were then escorted upstairs to the separate dining room which was beautifully decorated and laid out. Our set menu was amazing. I had the chicken skewers which were very tasty and succulent. I can also highly recommend my main course - the shepherds pie. This was very tasty and rich and accompanied with a lovely tasting gravy. Overall, the restaurant was great and the waiter service by young Jack was an exemplar to customer service and attention to our needs to make our visit one to remember. Well done Jack!

Apparently a well known watering hole in Norwich. Pleasant and overpriced. Somewhat pretentious. Food was good to ok, not a as special as the price. Service was also pleasant and not outstanding. No parking nearby. It is in the center of a lovely pedestrian area of Norwich.

I visited with my wife and ate Sunday lunch. The staff were friendly if a little rushed. The decor is fun but slightly faded, my chair had stains on the velvet for instance. Overall this place is style over substance and you pay a premium for it. The main problem is the food which was abysmal, my half roast chicken was one thigh and a breast and it felt like it was confit not roasted. The thigh was good but the breast was cardboard. The rest was under seasoned, bland and cold. Their idea of high cuisine is sprinkling some flaked almonds over cold runner beans. I had a glass of the ivy cuvee sparkling wine to drink with it and it tasted like fart juice with a yeast infection. Honestly if this place traded on the quality of their food alone it would be closed within a month. I will return only but only if forced to do so by a district judge. £78 for the privilege of writing this review. Avoid!

Nice varied menu to choose from within an art deco styled room. Portions are of a sensible size,presented to tickle the taste buds of which you won't be disappointed. Prices are a bit more than other similar establishments within Norwich, but the friendly, professional service is great.
