I have been here before, a couple of times to see movies, but mainly to have a drink or a meal, usually sitting in the small wooden panelled room. This time, it being my birthday, myself and two lady friends decided that we would have a drink. I had an Aspall cider, and the ladies had a Rosé wine each. I like it here, even if some of the items are rather expensive, but you do get what you pay for.

have been here often, you do need to check ahead as sometimes for odd reasons they're not serving food at the usual times which can be disappointing. But when they are it's good food, and the venue is lovely (so long sa they close the doors so it warms up!). Staff are friendly, food is freshly cooked and good portions for fair prices. We like it. Sunday brunch we perfect after a morning movie. We've also been for evening pizza, or lunch. Friendly, and tables spaced enough for friends to have a good catch up chat.

I have been here before and it's really nice, but if you get served by a middle-aged woman with brown hair at the ticket desk, I'd suggest double checking your screen number with another member of staff :( We came to see the premiere of a short film tonight- she confidently told us the screen number, but unfortunately she had sent us into the wrong screen. By the time the film title came up and we realised, and we went back to ask her for the correct screen number, we were only able to catch the last minute of the short film and missed the scene that my partner had a role in. When we asked if the film would be shown again since we had missed the film due to this staff member's mistake, she rudely brushed us off and didn't have the decency to apologise. This made us very sad as my partner missed his chance to see his scene :( Nice cinema but unfortunate experience with this staff member :'(

wonderful building, great for niche films. however, bought tickets to see a National Theatre Live production of Prima Facie only to be seated facing a wall with the screen starting about 15 foot to my left. impossible to view properly. they did give me a full refund but the seats are useless. only reason to put them there is cheat people out of their money.

We came in yesterday with my family for brunch and were very disappointed with the quality of the food. We all had the American Pancake stack which sounded delicious on the menu. A daytime ticket often gives you a fairly empty cinema. There were only two other people watching The Three Musketeers, as far as I could see, which was very relaxing. The downside was 20 minutes of adverts - too many in my opinion On second thoughts, it's fewer adverts than the Vue. However, it is more expensive.

The cinema is a far cry from the likes of Vue and Odeon, offering a smaller auditorium with comfortable seats and, most importantly, a usually better behaving respectable audience. The restaurant offers really great food and the service overall is very good. However, one thing it does share with the big chains is the inflated price of drinks. I paid £4 for a glass of draught cola. I know they have to make a profit, but it does seem way too expensive. I don't mind paying a little extra for the ticket because you get a better experience here, but be wary of the overall cost of your night out.

Going to the cinema is great, and Cinema City is cosy, with friendly staff, good quality in almost every respect but... I'm dropping a star for one reason only: I CAN'T STAND the advert that displays just before the show asking you to "make an exception" to turning your phone off to give to a charity. There are so many things wrong with that advert that I'm not going to list them all here, and just to be clear, the idea of promoting giving to that charity is not one of them. It's just so poorly executed in every respect, and I have to turn away from the screen and try and block out the sound every time it comes on, resisting the temptation not to shout and scream at the screen. Also, their main corporate sponsor's advert is awful too both in execution and because it's promoting an unsustainable travel mode.

Cinema city is a beautiful building retaining original features and quirks. It is almost directly opposite the ramp to st Andrews car park and ready to find. The entrance is beautiful and it's staff are very helpful and kind. Coffee is good and the little cafe area is lovely, featuring 3 eating areas all connected. The screen rooms for cinema viewing are lovely and well kept, not too big and the seats are comfortable. The toilets are also well kept and modern, there is a lift to access upstairs and downstairs as the stairways are narrow and appear to be part of the original design of the building.

They used to have a very good restaurant where people would go for dinner without necessarily seeing a movie, now it's shockingly bad, all tastes like it's straight from the freezer, I'm sure it was a money saving exercise but at least find someone who can cook, I know school kids who can do better than this, it's appalling. This is a gorgeous cinema and there’s always something interesting on (as well as the usual films you’d expect). There’s also great deals for members including special screenings, discounts, and free coffees. My only criticism (and you might see this as a perk) is that alcohol is allowed in the screens. This is great if you want a fancy drink but it also means there’s the chance of drunk people. The last two showings I’ve been to have been disrupted by people making excessive noise or frequently getting up to go to the loo/get more drinks. If this would annoy you too, perhaps go for a daytime screening. Even if you don’t go to the cinema here, stop in for coffee and/or food, it’s great!

Very weird experience. Booked a birthday meal, only to be turned away at the door because we “didn’t meet the dress code”. This states - “smart casual and no sports wear”. We would’ve understood if we were in full tracksuits or gymwear but we were dressed smart-casual with presence of small sports brand logos so be aware - if you are going to have a dress code this needs to be made completely transparent to include absolutely NO sports branding whatsoever as lots of men’s fashion is now centred around sports/leisurewear and is designed to look smart! Not sure what sort of clientele they’re aiming to attract with this dress code as the restaurant was near enough empty? We’ve had exceptionally good experiences in the past and never been questioned on attire but this was wholly disappointing and honestly we wouldn’t bother to return or continue to recommend to friends or family as it felt so unwelcoming. Such a shame for what was once such a great organic business, which has got a bit too big for its (non sport branded) boots.

Was quite looking forward to one of the Pieminster pies but, what a surprise! The chef apparently had a big order just before so were told to come back 20 mins later and we "might" be able to serve food. Who'd have predicted it would be busy at the weekend!? Not to mention terrible service at the bar trying to get a drink, chap next to me got told "you know you won't get served here" referring to a particular spot at the bar, so I left to walk to the other side, only for another bar girl to the serve the original area almost immediately. The total arrogance and apathy of the staff, sack them all.

Second time for breakfast and I feel it better value than lunch. Large portions, nice selections and kept us full all day. Lovely ambience and attentive staff. The only let down was the disappointing coffee, they need to up their game, especially for the cost. It is tiny and not very good. I am sure last time there was top ups.
