An intimate 'boutique' cinema in Norwich, more a cinema club feel. Three screens, small and intimate with a cosy feel. Has a cafe/bar. Very civilised.

Had a great evening here. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant had good choice of food and drinks, the food was very tasty, well cooked and reasonably priced. They have made an excellent job of making this very old building accessible without losing its charm and character. Great that it's not just a film venue, we went to a comedy evening which very enjoyable.

A daytime ticket often gives you a fairly empty cinema. There were only two other people watching The Three Musketeers, as far as I could see, which was very relaxing. The downside was 20 minutes of adverts - too many in my opinion On second thoughts, it's fewer adverts than the Vue. However, it is more expensive.

Small cinema in Norwich City centre They tend to show older films or films released a few weeks before There is also a very nice coffee shop, selling food (breakfasts, pizzas, toasted sandwiches etc) plus drinks, coffee You don't have to go to cinema to eat/drink in coffee shop Close to large multi storey car park Plus two pay and display car parks are less than 10 mins walk Cathedral and castle are also both close by, as are City centre shopping

The cinema is a far cry from the likes of Vue and Odeon, offering a smaller auditorium with comfortable seats and, most importantly, a usually better behaving respectable audience. The restaurant offers really great food and the service overall is very good. However, one thing it does share with the big chains is the inflated price of drinks. I paid £4 for a glass of draught cola. I know they have to make a profit, but it does seem way too expensive. I don't mind paying a little extra for the ticket because you get a better experience here, but be wary of the overall cost of your night out.

Going to the cinema is great, and Cinema City is cosy, with friendly staff, good quality in almost every respect but... I'm dropping a star for one reason only: I CAN'T STAND the advert that displays just before the show asking you to "make an exception" to turning your phone off to give to a charity. There are so many things wrong with that advert that I'm not going to list them all here, and just to be clear, the idea of promoting giving to that charity is not one of them. It's just so poorly executed in every respect, and I have to turn away from the screen and try and block out the sound every time it comes on, resisting the temptation not to shout and scream at the screen. Also, their main corporate sponsor's advert is awful too both in execution and because it's promoting an unsustainable travel mode.

Cinema city is a beautiful building retaining original features and quirks. It is almost directly opposite the ramp to st Andrews car park and ready to find. The entrance is beautiful and it's staff are very helpful and kind. Coffee is good and the little cafe area is lovely, featuring 3 eating areas all connected. The screen rooms for cinema viewing are lovely and well kept, not too big and the seats are comfortable. The toilets are also well kept and modern, there is a lift to access upstairs and downstairs as the stairways are narrow and appear to be part of the original design of the building.

This is my favourite cinema on the planet. I've been going here since I was 15 and I'm now in my 60's. Everything about the place is really great except... The FOOD! They used to have a very good restaurant where people would go for dinner without necessarily seeing a movie, now it's shockingly bad, all tastes like it's straight from the freezer, I'm sure it was a money saving exercise but at least find someone who can cook, I know school kids who can do better than this, it's appalling. Other than the the culinary disaster, great job!

This is a gorgeous cinema and there’s always something interesting on (as well as the usual films you’d expect). There’s also great deals for members including special screenings, discounts, and free coffees. My only criticism (and you might see this as a perk) is that alcohol is allowed in the screens. This is great if you want a fancy drink but it also means there’s the chance of drunk people. The last two showings I’ve been to have been disrupted by people making excessive noise or frequently getting up to go to the loo/get more drinks. If this would annoy you too, perhaps go for a daytime screening. Even if you don’t go to the cinema here, stop in for coffee and/or food, it’s great!

We recently hosted a wedding event at Cinema City, and could not have been more impressed and thrilled with the service we received! James and the whole team went the extra mile and made sure we had a very special event. The attention to detail with all the planning was incredible, and nothing was too much to ask. I had lots of decorations and very specific requirements for the event, and the team went above and beyond to make sure everything was taken care of and all my hopes for the day were met. The dining rooms and courtyard were the beautiful setting for our event, and all the guests commented on how delicious the food was. Communication with the events team was always great, making the whole booking and planning process super smooth. Could not recommend Cinema City enough for any type of event you may have!

This was our first return to Cinema City since the reopening. We had been regular diners prior to closure and always enjoyed our meals and the service we received. We were a little unsure having seen the new menu but decided to give it a try. We ordered a bottle of wine which was brought to the table and dumped unopened by the waiter who walked off. We ordered our meals; two Tokyoburger and one Wagu burger. These were served to us and our initial thoughts were that they looked like a very bland school dinner. The fries were anaemic, the burgers were served with no garnish and they were certainly not brioche buns. We were disappointed at this stage but decided to see if the chefs could redeem themselves with the dessert, however we asked for for 2 Rhubarb and ginger crumbles with honeycomb ice cream. We were told by the waitress that there was no rhubarb so we couldn’t have the crumble so we asked if we could have just the honeycomb ice cream but we’re told no, if we wanted ice cream we could purchase it from the foyer but she said it’s very expensive and she wouldn’t bother. We will not be returning to the dining room until either the menu is made more appealing and of the style and standard it used to be.

Aggggh. What has happened to this place?! It used to be so good! We (2) arrived & were seated at a table for 6. Over the evening the tables were pulled away. Kind of like performance art. I won’t hash over it as it was too terrible to relive but the highlights were: Excellent waitress who was worked like a dog (her first shift) & lovely wine. Low points: My meal (Korean buttermilk chicken burger & fries) was essentially a very bad KFC Zinger meal. Very bad. Wrong food came out. Twice. Told on 3 occasions that the manager was too busy to speak to us. Then told the manager ‘hadn’t turned up’ that day. We left without paying the bill after asking 3 times for it. We came back after the film & paid for the wine. The food simply wasn’t worth paying for, it was THAT bad.

I booked to come to cinema city directly after having my wedding ceremony, to have a celebratory meal with a few family members and close friends. I originally booked to be in the main restaurant but we were seated in a separate room. When my husband and I arrived (slightly later than the rest of the party) there was no acknowledgement from any member of staff so I, in full bridal outfit, had to find the table where my guests were seated. Once in the room, service was very slow. Everyone else who had arrived already had drinks, but no one came to take the newlyweds order. A waitress then came to take food orders, so I had to ask then, and after a very long wait the drinks arrived. The food - how very disappointing. My minute steak was so tough, it was inedible. My husband also ordered the same, again, inedible. It was also stone cold. The groom’s mother’s food came out ten minutes after everyone else’s, we had to ask for condiments three time’s and when the pepper arrived, it was empty. No member of staff came to check if we were ok, or enjoying the food and when my husband went to pay, the server still didn’t ask if everything was ok, so we had no opportunity at any point to raise concerns at the restaurant. We booked at Cinema city as we want to support a local business and thought it would be a bit special and different for our special and different wedding day, but it was a really big disappointment and left me feeling pretty upset. As a side note - my best friend organised my hen party meal here also and you did not take the deposit off the bill at the end. You really need to rethink your processes and up your food and customer services.

Very nice afternoon tea. Before seeing the new Downton Abbey film. Nice finger sandwiches and delicious scones but the bite size cakes could have been better. Tea wasn’t hot enough and didn’t like the idea of the tea bag on the table and having to put it into pot of hot water. Should have been a proper teapot of tea made and brought to the table. Service was ok but had to wait about on arrival when table had been pre booked weeks ago. Staff didn’t seem to know they needed a table of 6 pre booked. Setting is very nice but needs better organisation.

My husband and I decided to eat here to celebrate my birthday. We hadn't eaten here for a few years after a disappointing experience with the service, I mentined this to the manager at the time and felt satisfied with their response. I am so disappointed we ate here, firstly the menu was not diverse enough, if you like spice then you are in luck. The starters were ok to be fair and so was the dessert, the main meals let it all down. The plaice dish my husband had was so salty he couldn't eat it, I tried it and completely agreed. My pork dish was terryaki which to me should be flavoursome but was so spicy my mouth was on fire and I couldn't taste anything else. No one came part way through our meal to check everything was ok and no one walked past in order for us to stop them. When our plates were cleared away, we explained we had each left most of our meal for the above reasons and to our surprise the response was 'I'm sorry to hear that'. Well I'm sorry but if you were that sorry you would have done a bit more, maybe mention to the chef or offer a coffee or something more than what felt like empty words. Just overall terrible experience, food and service wise and unfortunately, this isn't the first time so we will not be returning.

The main courses were cheffy piles .My dry chicken was heaped TV competition style on two tiny overcooked sad carrots an two bits of broccoli. The desserts were as bad ,my friends chocolate mousse -three teaspoons full on a big plate. It has to get better -this is what stops us eating out because at over £200 for six it was very poor
