A lunchtime visit on a bright, icy winters day in late November. A gorgous Victorian pub which is comforting, friendly and boosting a wood burner and local cat called Andy. Six cask ales, all in top condition. A short but delicious menu with dishes that are packed in flavour and beautifully crafted. I wish it was my local.

The starters were amazing and the portion size was very generous! However the vegetarian option for main, gnocchi, was incredible dry and had no sauce or oil to help it. We were also sat by the door which was very cold and I kept getting people bump into my chair throughout the evening.

Unfortunately I believe that food standards have slipped here. With hindsight, perhaps the fact we got a walk-in on a Saturday evening was an indication that the kitchen is losing its grip. We ordered: Burger - impressive in appearance, but in reality dry. This is because whoever made it made the rookie error of using lean beef. Ribs - salty as a fisherman's armpit. If it had been tasted, even by someone with a 40-a-day habit, this would have been picked up. Because we were hungry we made no comment and ate anyway but it was honestly an uphill struggle/wondered if it were a practical joke. In times gone by, the menu used to have more interesting plates that suggested whoever cooking was enjoying themselves with some experimentation on the side. However, on our last visit at least, the offering was reduced to a bog-standard pub menu.

A lovely pub, though only knew when I saw food being bought out, they actually did food, no menus out or anything on any boards, However, despite that, omg, what a fantastic meal. I went for the burger, the favours were absolutely amazing, the service was excellent. I originally went to go to another pub on the Wensum, but was that closed, so stumbled upon The Roseberry, I'm so glad I was diverted! You won't be disappointed with the service or the food.

Unfortunately not up to standards Waited 20 mins to order and had to call someone over to take our order, we proceeded to wait 30 mins and noticed tables who ordered 10 / 15 mins after us get there food, we then asked how much longer our food would be to be told the order hadn't gone through to the kitchen and that our order would be next, we then waiting a further 15 mins while 3 other tables came out before our and unfortunately it definitely wasn't worth the 50 minute wait as carrots where very hard and Yorkshires where brought in. To still walk out and pay £50 we where still not happy and very little apology. A lot of staff standing around seems we where forgotten about the moment we sat down

Visited on a warm Saturday evening and there was a really good buzz about the place. I got served quickly and there was a good variety of drinks on. I enjoyed my drink in a really nice outside area and the food looked good (although I didn't try any). The staff all looked busy and we're just getting on with it. The only negative was the slightly confusing (and public) toilets....although that could just be me!

We’ve been going to The Lord Rosebery for a couple of years now and have always enjoyed the atmosphere. It has a real buzz and great community feel, with excellent food served by the Blues Kitchen being an added bonus. However, we visited early on Friday evening with friends for a drink and bite to eat, and unfortunately it was more like an oversubscribed and incredibly noisy parent & toddler club. We decided to cut our losses and move on to one of the other excellent pubs in the NR3 vicinity but to do this we had to first negotiate the associated hazards of pushchairs, pink scooters, mini dinosaur rucksacks and even the odd random dog taking itself for a walk between tables. Such a shame - we believe that quality time with family and friends is important - but we will be avoiding this particular pub around 6-7pm on Fridays in future.

MORE AT TripAdvisor

We had a gorgeous Sunday roast trying the pork and chicken - excellent food, amazing service, very, very loud. Food - The food was excellent, I've had a great many roasts in my time and this was one of the best, as you can see in the video the pork pulled apart with a fork and it was so juicy, the chicken came as a supreme and was very generous, the only thing worth mentioning as a negative is there was such a variety of veg that the portions of each felt mean (that's subjective and barely worth mentioning) Service - Fantastic all the way, ordering is split between food and drinks, food is ordered at the table and drinks are ordered at the bar. The server took our order really quick and the food came out very fast. They were attentive but not intrusive, A+. Drink service was swift and professional, we had soft drinks and after I had ordered they were brought straight to the table, again, this was swift. A service charge is added to the bill. Atmosphere - The bar itself is aesthetically pleasing with a reclaimed, hipsterish vibe. It's a massive open space with the bar in the centre and this is where the issues begin. It's loud, aggressively loud, I couldn't hear my partner or the staff at all and given the complete lack of soft furnishings every sound echoes around and around. As someone with sensory issues I struggled. The seating and tables are mismatched which is cute but I barely managed to get my legs under the table as the seats were too tall, the tables are also packed in close and I spent half my meal with my back touching the person behind me. There is a soft seating area at the back of the bar which I didn't see until I had already eaten, it's a much quieter and more comfortable area and I really wish I had seen it earlier. To be clear it's pretty and if you're into the whole community eating, cacophony thing, it's a good atmosphere. Accessibility - Poor, it's very tight, you won't get a wheelchair through it, it's loud so bad for people with sensory issues, there's no parking lot so you take your chances on the very tight streets outside and you'll struggle to order drinks as there are tables surrounding the bar.

We arrived for a 12pm booking 5 minutes early for Sunday lunch. (We were only given a 1hr 30 minute time slot so made sure we arrived in time). We entered the pub only to be shouted at from behind the bar that we have to go and stand back outside (it was 2 degrees) and wait 5 minutes. We wouldn’t have minded soo much but there was already a table of 5 sat inside with menus. At 12pm we were told we were allowed back in and we said we had a booking for four at 12pm. The women just retorted back ‘ everyone eating today here has booking’. There were four of us. We were seated on a table for 3 by the main entrance. A fourth chair was squeezed into a trolley with the smallest of us squeezing in it. It was freezing as the door then was constantly opened as the first sitting all came in. We wouldn’t have minded soo much but there were still lots of tables that fitted four people away from the door still empty at 1pm. Drinks were swiftly ordered and food was served by 12.15pm. The food itself was ok but only warm but the not so roasted potatoes were nuclear hot. The waiting staff were really good. We’d finished our meals by 1pm. We were then told by a lovely guy who had clearly been sent over to tell us we only had 30 minutes before we had to leave. The bill was then bought to us without us asking for it. We couldn’t leave until 1.30pm as we had a taxi booked but couldn’t wait to get in it to get warm. So if anyone is thinking of coming here for a relaxing, welcoming Sunday lunch experience I’d suggest you book for the last sitting and ask to be away from the door.

Loaded chips were unedible due to having far to much salt. Told they were new on the menu so they really should of been checked before being sent out. Cost of dish was removed from bill. A previous visit the cheese on the normally fantastic chicken burger wasn't melted. The last roast I had wasn't great either, poor Yorkshires and overcooked beef. I'm pretty sure the head chef that started blues NR3 venture wouldn't of sent these dishes out. Not the usual high standard the blues team is renowned for. Possibly spread themselves a bit to thin trying to keep up with increased demand and the expansion to crown point.

We stayed here for two nights in October with friends. We thought the pub was lovely; great decor and atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff. The hotel experience could be better than it is if there was a bit more attention to detail, as the rooms are decorated lovely and the facilities are good. However: On arrival the car park is a mess, which doesn’t create a good first impression when you pull up (stuff dumped in it). The door that goes up to the rooms is dirty and sticky, which I think is because the kitchen staff use it, so again, not a great first impression. The radiator in Room 4 is rusty and needs treating and painting. The shower needs descaling and re-sealing. The boiler makes a noise all night long and keeps you awake. The kitchen staff come in early on a morning below the room, put their music on, open/close doors loudly; this wakes you up. The continental breakfast has no best before dates on items and unfortunately our milk was off; we tipped it out and it was topped back up the next day, but into the jugs the off milk had been in. Also, the fire plan on the back of our door was labelled up wrong (says room 4 is room 5); just a H&S point that should be corrected. With these things corrected it would be lovely; it’s almost there, but these few things let it down unfortunately. We couldn’t fault the staff, atmosphere or decor.

Went in for a quick lunch today and was very surprised by how good the food was. My double cheeseburger was delicious and came in a grand size.

Lovely pub with a very good selection of beers and a varied menu. Food was excellent as was the service. It's tucked out of the way, like a lot of Norwich pubs, but well worth seeking out if you've not been before.

Come here every Tuesday for the pub quiz! I can't say a bad thing about it, the guys behind the bar are amazing and the quiz is brilliant!

Very weird experience. Booked a birthday meal, only to be turned away at the door because we “didn’t meet the dress code”. This states - “smart casual and no sports wear”. We would’ve understood if we were in full tracksuits or gymwear but we were dressed smart-casual with presence of small sports brand logos so be aware - if you are going to have a dress code this needs to be made completely transparent to include absolutely NO sports branding whatsoever as lots of men’s fashion is now centred around sports/leisurewear and is designed to look smart! Not sure what sort of clientele they’re aiming to attract with this dress code as the restaurant was near enough empty? We’ve had exceptionally good experiences in the past and never been questioned on attire but this was wholly disappointing and honestly we wouldn’t bother to return or continue to recommend to friends or family as it felt so unwelcoming. Such a shame for what was once such a great organic business, which has got a bit too big for its (non sport branded) boots.

Rubbish service. Nice interior. Staff spend too much time folding napkins instead of pulling pints.

Taster menu and wine flight. Food well presented, service average. Food generally tasteless. Parsnip soup not particularly spicy and bland, gravlax like 1970s smoked salmon, venison very bland. Not usually a chocolate eater for pudding the take on Terrys chocolate orange I concede was delicious as was the pudding wine. With the exception of 2 of the white wines, you’d get a better wine flight from Lidl … decent but not really worth 55 of the King’s pound.

Second time for breakfast and I feel it better value than lunch. Large portions, nice selections and kept us full all day. Lovely ambience and attentive staff. The only let down was the disappointing coffee, they need to up their game, especially for the cost. It is tiny and not very good. I am sure last time there was top ups.
