The Ivy Chichester Brasserie in Chichester

We were visiting Chichester on the 1st of March and wanted some lunch. The Ivy looked nice so we decided to have lunch here. We were seated quickly and we were offered drinks. £9 for a glass of Prosecco (could have bought a bottle for that) We hadn’t even had time to look at the menu properly. I ordered the Linguine and the waitress advised us to share it as it was a large dish for lunch. We also ordered some bread. The Linguine was very salty indeed, I could not eat it, there was so much salt. Even the bread had salt on it. About 1pm we ordered crêpes, Suzette only to be informed they had run out…Seriously, at 1pm?? So had to order something else. Then the waitress came and removed an empty glass from the table, we weren’t asked if we wanted anymore drinks or if we wanted anything else. It felt like the staff wanted us to leave so they could get another customer seated. Naturally we complained about the inedible Linguine and it was taken off the bill, but the waitress said it does state it is salty on the menu. I since looked online at the menu and it does NOT say anything of the sort. Overall a terrible experience, and one we will not be repeating in this restaurant. Service and food should be much better for the prices charged here and they had the cheek to include a service charge for which we were not given the choice of whether we wanted to pay.

Lovely meal, great service, great atmosphere! I’d like to shout out amber especially as our waiter for the evening, warm, friendly, and great recommendations! Everyone needs an amber at chi IVY thanks again!

My husband and myself came for lunch, i am sorry to say it was not up to its usual standard my husband had prawn cocktail which was always amazing but it was just prawns in alot of sauce and meant to have avocado as well but just one tiny bit also no lettuce, he had a burger which was very nice and I had fish and chips which was awful soggy batter and very greasy all I could taste was oil, I left half of it, nobody came to the table to check if everything was ok the service was not up to its usual standard. We have been going to the ivy since the day it opened on a regular basis we are probably one of there best customers, however it wouldn’t put us off returning we love the place always welcoming but in this occasion bee were let down.

Had a lovely meal. Beth was brilliant. Attentive, professional but also smiley, friendly and chatty. She is an asset to your company. Thanks.

My friend and i didnt know what to exspect as hadnt been before but we were not disapointed.we were taken to our table.lovely lady called amber was our waitress such a friendly lady.we had wounderfull cocktails.fillet steak to start.yum.yum.followed buy choc.bom wow all so scrummy.after our meal manager found us a seat at the bar so we could finish our cocktails.🍸🍸would we go again.a BiG YES. We were greeted in reception and had our coats put in the cloakroom, then taken to our table. As a non-drinker the manager was very happy for me to bring an alcohol-free wine and put it on ice for me. The Ivy will be getting 2 AF wines on their menu very soon. They have a good array of mocktails and 0% beers but that’s not what you want to drink with a meal. Well done The Ivy for bucking the trend of the majority of restaurants that treat non-drinkers like children! The food was excellent (a good range on the menu), as was the service, on a busy Saturday there were plenty of staff, all smiling and friendly. The whole experience was wonderful and I will visit again very soon and recommend to everyone. Thank you.

Popped in for the set lunch, decently priced and top quality although not for the “big eater” although there is an excellent a la carte menu also available. Great decor and atmosphere.

Excellent went for a belated voucher promotion £100 voucher purchased before Xmas with free bottle of Ivy Champagne (£74) to be used before end of March 2024 on entrance was shown to a lovely table with plenty of room all staff waitress/bar staff very friendly helpful highly recommend was very busy on arrival but yet we was made to feel important waited on immediately and yet was £12 in credit on leaving so bargain. !! Well worth getting the voucher when available

We were seated at a very nice and spacious table. All of the staff were friendly and efficient. Although there was a mix up with one of our breakfasts they were very apologetic and quickly put things right. We all enjoyed our well presented and tasty food. All in all thoroughly enjoyable.

Lovely brunch in a vibrant setting, enjoyed buttermilk pancakes and Eggs Royale. We enjoyed attentive customer service and elevated the occasion with celebratory bubbles!

Having had a lovely birthday meal with my partner and child at this location on the same day (obviously) in 2023, I decided it would be lovely to have lunch with my whole immediate family this time. I booked a table for 10 to dine at 13:45 on the 14th February. One of the usual busiest days of the dining out calendar. Sadly, on the day, due to illness we were 3 down and our table reduced in size accordingly. We perused the menus, 1 child, 2 vegan and a choice of the 1917 menu or the standard, which covered seasonal as well. We ordered our starters, main and drinks. Our drinks arrived and we waited. The starters arrived eventually, minus 1. By the time this arrived all others had finished. The child hadn't had one, starters were not offered on the child menu, however a second smoothie was requested. We then proceeded to wait over an hour for our mains. We prompted staff three times and I expressed my concern that my child should eat soon, even if everyone else had to wait. We had been having angry on arrival, having not eaten since breakfast (again, fairly obviously). Patrons came after us and left before us. We waited. Drinks were ordered, they didn't arrive. On prompting them to make haste again, dismissive comments were made, 'we're very busy, it'll be about half an hour' more than once. We pointed out we'd been told that half an hour ago. Our server asked if more drinks could be ordered, so I pointed out that we hadn't had the last lot yet. One member of staff was so clipped and short in his dismissive response, I considered that we should leave right then, without paying for the starters. Eventually, food arrived. Every adult served before the child, who had ordered spaghetti with tomatoes! There was no apology, no recompense, the food was bland and they had the audacity to add service charge to the bill. The time the order was originally fed into the till was 13:52 (09 seconds), however the time the bill was printed states 16:31 (53 seconds). We had originally intended a full three course meal, however decided against ordering desert by this time, since lives had to be gotten back to! Car parking tickets were running out. I am deeply disappointed and shall not be celebrating another birthday there. I say to The Ivy, 'we may only be a drop in the ocean to you, but many drops make the ocean and eventually it will drown you'.

The staff were very friendly and attentive, however we were led through the main area which appeared to have a good atmosphere into a quiet side room that was a lot colder and appeared to only be managed by one hard working waitress. Small details such as sauce on the salt and pepper pots did let the experience down slightly especially as the price is quite expensive. Thank you again to our friendly waitress

Note to management: get more staff in to cover busy shifts. The food was fine - burger is very meaty but no alternative to horseradish sauce offered which is a bit shortsighted. The poor server was out of their depth and things got missed for us and other tables. This was not their fault but that of management for leaving them to handle about six covers on their own. We left without ordering dessert, although we would have liked one. The Ivy in Chichester is huge and noisy. Ask to be seated in the separate dining area if you dislike a crowded atmosphere. Not what we expected, but the food was good. The ladies toilets are a cacophony of pink, mirrors and flamingos. No signs to say if engaged or vacant so push/pull gently to check.
