The Berkeley Arms in Chichester

My wife and I had a lovely meal. Well worth the money. Service from the staff was very good even though it got quite busy with the lunchtime rush. We would definitely recommend.

Great food, very pleasant staff and a fab place to sit outside and watch the world go by.

Stopped off for a quick pint and was very impressed. Friendly staff and we even had 2 bar tenders working together to prepare our drinks. Nice seating area at the front.

Such a disappointment. The place looks and feels great, the service was friendly and welcoming. The turkey breast Sunday roast however, was akin to a school lunch (I am a school teacher) The presentation, cooking, quality of ingredients and taste were well below average and leagues apart from what can he had in other country pubs these days. Only the reasonable price salvaged the experience to a certain degree, maybe that was the giveaway. EDIT: I have just read the response from this establishment. I can CATEGORICALLY say that I was never checked upon during my meal or at the end. I work as a mystery shopper in restaurants myself (not on this occasion) so I know EXACTLY what to look for in an establishment, how staff should behave (hence my positive comment about the welcome, friendliness and environment) But I strongly object to lies being told about my experience and an apparent inability of this establishment to accept the criticism of their clients. This can also be seen in other reviews on this thread. I have a Sunday roast almost every week, usually in different pubs, I can 100% attest to the poor presentation, taste and quality of my turkey breast roast. But most of all, I object to being called a liar.

My fish and chips could not have been bettered.

Nice atmosphere, excellent food, good choice, good portions, good beer, friendly efficient staff, reasonable prices, what more could you ask. Thoroughly recommended.

Great pub food and atmosphere and hearty portions too. They are kids friendly too.

Lovely no frills pub in Bosham. Service was excellent.

Thursday evening and all's good. We sought out the Berkeley Arms for dinner and arrived early in anticipation. The friendly staff were soon working their socks off serving a full pub of customers that knew where to come for a great atmosphere and a first class meal. Top tip, Sticky Toffee Pudding with, yes, ice cream, cream and custard.... but only because my Granny would let me have the trio. Don't tell anyone. We'll be back. Thank you.

Great food Nice to have real fire Usual cooking times, possibly slightly slow for Sunday roast, as usually cooked already, but was very busy. Slightly cold corner for our table. Have colouring crayons and sheet for children. Nice little garden at front. On street parking with small car park.

Great pub serving great pub food. Took my children and grandma out for a post Christmas lunch, nephews and nieces joined last minute but staff were helpful and didn't mind late change to booking. Good choice of food for my group aged 10 to 80, including a couple of vegetarians. Service was great and all mains (ten) out at same time and all hot. Not too expensive either. Perfect.

Haven't been here for a while , we had a lovely meal and pudding. You can't fault the food here always good, would give more stars if possible, the staff are very friendly as is the landlady (the lovely Linda) congratulations on winning pub of the year you deserve it, looking forward to coming back for one of your amazing Sunday roast

Nice food! It’s a shame so many specials had run out by 7.30 and the service was not very attentive. Keep an eye on your customers and look out for empty glasses and when they might want the bill. It was quite hard to catch attention. Overall, however a nice experience and definitely enjoyed the food.

Popped in today for a pint and a sandwich both very nice , lovely helpful staff, Would recommend highly. However our parked car was hit by another car. they just left. Sadly no cameras on the car park

Selected from the Blackboard menu. Chicken breast stuffed with silton & apricot wrapped in Pancett, new potatoes and veg mix . Topped off with a silton sauce. Wow wow, amzzzzzzzzzing. For only £16.00. Highly recommended. Lovely atmosphere with a roaring log fire.

Fabulous fishy Friday. Fresh mackerel served on crushed potatoes with horseradish with a complimentary glass of wine. (I was a philistine and had a Merlot) Lovely atmosphere and service, followed by a raucous band. Not that there is a band there every Friday. Made for a a cosy October evening.

We didn't eat but the food and menu looked good. Very clean, friendly staff and obviously very well run excellent range of beers and wines too.

Booked as recommended for Sunday lunch .We were advised it was busy ,so might be a bit of a wait We ordered our roasts and our drinks arrived Over 40 mins later we were advised one of the roasts was now sold out .Our meal arrived an hour and a half after Our booked time and offered a complimentary drink .However the time we waited may have been acceptable if we had turned up without booking ,but WE HAD Booked , so disappointed

Highly recommended!! Tried the pub for the first time on Friday whilst staying nearby, very impressed....lovely food, great service, friendly staff...enjoyed it so much we returned in the Saturday evening for another lovely meal. Will be back again next time we're staying in the area.

The gastro-pub status is getting closer as the Berkley. We are locals and I hadn’t eaten there for a good few months and we went on fishy Friday. Wife had sole and I have to say an excellent piece of fish cooked really well (not over cooked). I had the lamb burger (huge) and my friends had sea bass. Also of note was the beer selection (fullers) which was kept really well and a cracking selection. All in all well be back. Well done team at the Berkley you are giving us a great village pub experience.

Amazing pub and restaurant just 10 to 15 min walk from Bosham Harbour. My wife and I have been several times in last few years and the quality of the food and drink is exceptional. Definitely recommend the sandwiches - Westbourne bakery bread and ample fillings + chips + salad for under £10. Superb

The staff that served me were incredibly helpful but there was a lady who stood out for me and her name was Scarlet who is a very kind . She was amazing the whole time we were there and helped us when we needed it. She was so nice to us and made the whole experience wonderful. The food portions are very healthy and lovely. Highly recommend meals are : Haddock Gratin, Black Forest sundae and Scampi.

Excellent roast great staff Lovely location

Used to be quite nice here but food quality has gone downhill - shame because we’ve eaten here often. £18 for hake had apparently no seasoning and tasted like a school dinner overcooked tin of tomatoes on top of overcooked soft broccoli. - disappointing. My son’s fish sandwhich tasted dry and flavourless.

A very friendly pub that serves very good food with a smile. Thanks go out to Meg who served us and was very cheery and amusing. With so many pubs turning into restaurants our visit here gave us that local pub feeling which can't be bad. Here's an idea for you, ask for mint sauce with your mushy peas, you won't be disappointed 😋 Looking forward to our next visit. It was only after we left that I realised that a tip was not included. I'll make up for that next time 😄

Just stopped for a pint on way back to station. Prices very reasonable compared to my home in Brighton . Definetly go back on my next trip to the area.

We were travelling to the airport, but wanted a meal along the way. My partner phone up on the off chance to see if the had a table available. The restaurant was full, but they kindly reserved us a table in the bar area. We had Calamari to start with their Homemade Garlic Mayonnaise which was to die for. For the main meals, I had Bass with Soy Sauce Noodles and Pak Hhoi. I enjoyed mine, but it was a bit too salty. My partner had a Homemade Cheese Burger with Bacon and Chips. The pub is beautiful inside and out with a cute homely village pub atmosphere. They have plenty of garden table and a Free carpark. All the staff were really friendly and couldn't do enough to make you happy and comfortable. Thank you very much 😊

Lovely food, took my Dad for his birthday, we had a table for 4, and everyone cleared their plates. Delicious ! We'd booked the restaurant side, but was quite busy, so they kindly moved us to a lovely table in the bar, which was equally as nice as the restaurant. Plenty of choices on the menus, plus Senior Special board bargains. Will be returning 👍

The Berkeley Arms are situated just outside the lovely village of Bosham. Lovely cosy pub serving an excellent menu choices. Outdoor seating is available. The food and service were second to none. Highly recommended

Stopped here after a very long muddy walk, welcomed even though we were very dirty. Given a table with no problem and felt very comfortable. All the staff were polite, friendly, with lovely smiles. Fish finger sandwich was very tasty, as was the sticky toffee sundae 🍨 😋 We will return, a little less muddy next time. Thank you

Wide choice of meals prepared from ingredients from locally sourced suppliers. Meals were good, as were quantity and service. The room was pleasantly warm from an open fire on a cold evening. We will be back.

This is a charming cosy pub especially at this time of the year with roaring fire. Located in the heart of the village a few minutes walk from the harbour. Lovely garden in the Summer to relax and watch the world go by. Nice modern loos. Car park at rear. Seperate dining room. Nice friendly staff.

What a lovely pub. So pleased we stopped off here. Kid friendly and dog friendly too. The staff were amazing and were super helpful. I thoroughly recommend the caramelised onion, beetroot and goats cheese tart...Omg totally de-lish. I would definitely recommend a visit to this place...you won't be disappointed. The menu has so many marvellous choices too.

Great pub, location and menu. My vegetarian Sunday roast was good but just didn’t live up to expectations. Nut roast was safely seasoned and vegetables were meagre in portion. Great sunny day so nothing spoilt but could do better, definitely coming back though.

Loved having a pint here the other day - the building is just gorgeous and the lady working at the bar was super friendly and knowledgeable. I learned that a Bloody Mary made with Gin is called a Red Snapper and while I am not sure I would order it again, it was prepared really well and I am glad I tried it!

Phenomenal chips!! They were just the perfect crispness! Best chips in all of West Sussex! Burger was great too! Fish from fish and chips was very fresh with crispy batter!

This place is outstanding - I had a wonderful evening - lots of interesting people - one with Welsh connections, 2 Kiwis, two locals and a Dutchman, a family of Dutch…… Great beer, lovely food and , surprisingly, for those parts, reasonably priced. Looking forward to my next visit to the area - I know now we’re I’m going!

Lovely stop off while visiting Bosham on Saturday and two wonderful welcoming ladies that greeted us. We didn't eat but saw a nice menu (booking advised) benches outside with parasols and nice clean ashtrays. Have to say, well done for whoever looks after their garden, the pub looked wonderful at the front, particularly as we haven't had rain for some time and high temperatures... Well done for all that watering!! It didn't go unnoticed. We would visit again 100% and maybe try some food this time. Thank you team Berkeley, you provided a hot afternoon walk with a great oasis.

Only had a drink and used the toilet today. Seems to be nice pub with beer garden on the front and dining area on the left if the main entrance. Staff seem to be good and offer quick service. It’s of the Fuller’s brewery chain pub. The beer selection was not the best. Didn’t enjoy that much the meantime IPA. Pub parking is in the left side the pub. Went in yesterday/ bank holiday and told it was not serving food.

Great friendly service. Burger made fresh and tasty side salad. Sea Bass a little disappointing in presentation and lack of vegetables. Smokers spoil outside seating but guess they have to go somewhere Would return visit as good experience overall.

We had a lovely roast here. The small plate is a perfect option for a late lunch and still a good portion size. The service was quick and friendly, and my mum's latte was promptly replaced when the first was slightly cold. Staff were attentive and friendly. Overall a lovely visit, thank you!
