Have visited for lunch twice in the last few weeks I cant praise the food or service highly enough.....I find it difficult to accept that some of the negative reviews are actually the same place.We always reserve the table on line, and the staff are happy to oblige any table requests if at all possible Wide selection of vegetables and a rich gravy, and a desert to follow if you've room. Keep up the good work.

Wanted to visit the Island pool, it looks so inviting from the outside Sadly interior does not match up, dated and clearly in need of refurb dirty windows peeling paint and wallpaper and the furniture, tables especially were sticky. The food looked poor ( carvery) sauce pots on table dirty and slopped everywhere, we decided to have something from menu. wished we had not bothered . Micro waved pie microwaved lasagne dry and poor salad pea that had sat forever before serving and under cooked chips. we left with a really different view of the Island Pool

We visited The Island Pool yesterday but how disappointed were we when we left. We arrived and were given a table by Jamie which was good, looked at the menu and couldn’t believe it was two for one. We ordered the sirloin steak which was £17 for two (Bargain) we thought and asked for it to be cooked well done. When it arrived the plate was huge with mushrooms, chip, onion rings and steak. Looked amazing. We both started to eat and when we were cutting the steak, I looked at my husband and said” this is tough” it was difficult to cut with a steak knife and when we started to chew it was like shoe leather, too difficult to swallow. I went to the bar advised the Jamie who gave us the table and she said “she would go to see her Manager”. She came over and said ‘The Manager’ said “you can have something else” which we did. My husband then ordered the gammon £15 and I had scampi £14. If we had ordered this in the first instance we would have had the cheapest free. When the plates arrived, again they were huge. Jamie said that ‘The Manager’ said “if you have steak well done it will be tough”. We disagree with this comment as only on Thursday last week, we had steak at the Miller and Carter cooked the same way and it was beautiful. At no time did ‘The Manager’ or anyone else come to see if our meals were alright - and at no time did anyone offer the difference between the meals. It’s not that we needed the cash it’s the principal, If the meal was edible then we would have had no need to ask for a replacement. Even when Jamie collected the plates nothing was mentioned only have you finished. This is bad practice. We don’t complain normally, but on this occasion we had too. I won’t be visiting again and will be sceptical about ordering steak!

Once again great food, friendly and efficient service. Shocked to see a low hygiene rating...

Went mid week at 4pm. Very quiet but that is as I like it which is why I gave it a 4. Had the Carvery and was very impressed. Hot and plenty of meat, pork, turkey, gammon, beef. Help yourself to Yorkshire which I prefer to potatoes so very happy. Staff were very friendly and a great choice of desserts £12.99 for carvery and desert which was well worth it. Started to get people in at 5 and tables filled quite quickly from then.

Very rude waitress (Sunday 7th July afternoon). Will go somewhere else that knows how to welcome customers next time. Food was alright but the place could do with a good clean.

Place is really nice and really enjoyed my meals I had there, second time of visiting and both times enjoyed the food and atmosphere

My daughter and I went Monday 18th June 2024 , been going for a couple of years , but today the Carvery was not nice at all , the Roast Potatoes were not nice at all , no taste . And the Gravy lacked Flavour . I do not know why this was , always been enjoyable in the past and the Beef was fatty this time around as well , so I will give it a miss for now .

Delicious food great value for money and staff really friendly

Started feeling ill after first few mouthfuls then noticed the place was full of fly's. The fly's were landing on the food what is not good and this was inside not out side. I left my food feeling sick staff was slow to help and i can see why they take the money first. The amount of fly's must be down to hygiene as never experienced this is other places

Service was slow no interactions, the roast potatoes they were overcooked and burnt some of it was undercooked I wouldn't step my foot in the door again to have food from there, moles everywhere, not so clean, food on the floor, tables were not clean, I will get in contact with food hygiene

Excellent local location, good parking, good carvery attentive staff, comfortable surroundings good selection of beers,,hot drinks and soft drinks.

We have been having Sunday lunch here for the last couple of years. Everything about the place is spot on. the staff will always go that extra mile to make sure your happy. Food is just like mother cooked all those years ago. Love it xx

Admittedly we visited on a Saturday and it was very busy and noisy. Tables squashed together, very basic menu, food adequate but not outstanding. Vegetables overcooked. Staff really trying hard. Not a place really to our liking but it was recommended by friends. Good car parking facilities and location.

Been here before just for drinks but really wanted to try the carvery as it looked amazing! Came here on Sunday as a party of 7 (4 adults, 3 children). Table was ready for the time we arrived. We were early, so sat outside in the sunshine and had a drink before going inside for dinner. We all had a carvery and it was honestly amazing! I had a bit of all the meat (beef, turkey, pork and gammon) and all of it was cooked perfectly. Brilliant choice of sides and veg and all was hot and fresh. The whole party really enjoyed their food and all plates were cleared. Service was good, staff were friendly and a nice pint of Madri! We then went and sat outside for a few more drinks and enjoyed sitting under the cover of a huge parasol in a storm! We also had some desserts that were bought to us outside. A lovely afternoon, great location and relaxed atmosphere. We will definitely be recommending and will 100% be returning! Loses a star as the toilets weren't great.

Had a carvery on 2nd May in the evening, as I was meeting up with my son. The pub was really busy, which shows the food is good. The service was great from all members of staff and the choices for meat and veg was great. I timed it right, just as the new dish of cauliflower cheese was brought out. Had a wonderful time and will be going again.

Food mediocre, burgers were cheap like you would get at a roadside van, no quality, one meal sent back as veg was stone cold, two meals came to £35 without drinks but we did have a coffee. Lovely setting but need to improve on the food offering.

Our 1st visit + it will be our last. 6pm Saturday, staff not particularly friendly - especially the guy that was carving the meat! Miserable as sin. 3 of us had carvery - all 3 meats dry. 4th person had steak pie - not worth £14! Not an enjoyable experience at all. 😠

Went for breakfast around 10am, it was very busy and very loud! The food was cooked nicely and it was plentiful - sadly the plates were stone cold, so food quickly started to cool. £21 for the two of us, it included a cuppa, which I think was refillable. Would I go again? Maybe

We met family and friends here for breakfast on Good Friday. It's an open buffet, with a large selection of excellently prepared food. Free refills on coffee & tea. Weather was cold at the time of visit, but there is a large seating area outside to enjoy also when it's warmer. Large car park at the side. We will return.

4 star because the menu online is different than what's in the actual pub, even though their QR goes to their menu online 🫣 the Vegan puds that's on the menu online, are not available. I don't know about the other options though as we only went for the vegan pud because of being lactose intolerant. They did offer an alternative which isn't on the menu, only one option though (not the pud pictured)

What a lovely place the carvery is fantastic wonderful selection of dishes all freshly cooked and piping hot perfection 😁

A little disappointed the parsnips were burnt and the cauliflower was hard it's not usually like that but apart from that it was lovely

Visited Wednesday for lunch not been for a long time didn't book had to wait out side for half an hour for a table .Carvery was very nice enjoyed it... But the staf were so unpleasant never saw a smile from one of them had to wait ages for the table to de cleared made you feel very unwelcome don't think we will be visiting again sad really because the meal was good

Good basic carvery. Slightly over cooked veg and only one small slice of each meat given. It was well cooked though. Delicious gravy!

Got to give this place 5 stars as, whilst it's really just an average pub, the carvery is excellent in terms of choice and also very good value. Large variety of deserts too. Friendly staff, good service, plenty of parking when we visited round it off.

Arrived early and the woman told us to stand at the bar. I'm disabled and can't stand for long. The staff don't know much about customer service a smile or a greeting goes a long way. Been here a few times and it hasn't change much.

The place was filthy, black mold all up the wall and windows. Wall paper was soaking wet, Great big black cob webbs everywhere!. Such as shame I have heard so many lovely things about this place so I was really looking forward to it!. We sat rite next to the buffet, We had the breakfast which was nice slightly over cooked but overall good. Unfortunately because the place was so dirty it put us of our food so we will not be returning!

Came here today after being out all morning shopping, my mother’s food came but mine didn’t the gentleman behind the bar can over and apologised as there was a mix up in the kitchen. He came over 5 minutes later with a full refund for my meal which I didn’t expect as I was more then happy to wait as I know mistakes happen sometimes but my food came out and it was outstanding. Would highly recommend to anyone and the staff are lovely

We booked a table for 4pm. We ended up getting there earlier than expected. It was so busy as usual so didn't think we get a table but the lady was more than accommodating, she got us a table straight away. The food was amazing and fresh and great value for money. Definitely recommend.

Wow, this place is fabulous. I stayed overnight in my campervan in the spacious car park and had a drink and carvery. The food was excellent, piping hot, tasty and reasonably priced. The staff were all lovely. I was travelling alone with my Dog Dixie who was spoilt by every member of staff. We definitely go back again and recommend anyone to visit there. Thank you all very much.

Superb array of breakfast items all hot and freshly cooked. I'd advise booking in advance for a Saturday if you want to ensure you have a table.

Most of the food was great and piping hot.. The stuffing though was just the powder mix.. Staff need some training on hospitality and most are miserable.. Cleanliness of tables, cutlery and glasses leave a lot to be desired..

Seated quickly. Carvery was quiet, although the pub itself was heaving. The carver is very unwelcoming, professional, efficient, but friendly and welcoming he ain’t! Vegetables were plentiful but not particularly hot. Brussels were hard, almost raw. Choice of veg and sides was exemplary Not as good as the first time we visited but perfectly adequate. I think because of how busy it was. The food waste is a bone of contention - great full trays of perfectly good vegetables we have seen binned on a regular basis. Surely some charity could benefit? We will definitely go back

We were seated under a freezing cold extractor fan on a really cold night. All of our cutlery was quite grubby and my glass arrived with lipstick on it which was quite off putting. The staff on the floor were really quite miserable and at 10 past 9 we were asked to leave as they were closing. The carvery was nice apart from the stuffing which was lacking moisture and was dry crumbs. I personally wouldn’t recommend or return.

Visited the Island Pool this afternoon for a meal, have been here several times in the last 12 months and always enjoy the food. But today even though a little quieter than usual I have to say thank you to the staff, for a friendly welcome, and the carvery was literally the best I've ever had. The beef and turkey melted in the mouth and the wide selection of vegetables and sides were mouth watering. I am always happy to leave a review when happy with my visit, thank you again to the Island Pools staff, we will return again. Keep up the good work x

We arrived at 6.18pm for a table booked at 6.30pm. We were told our table wasn't ready and asked to wait at the bar. I asked if there were any seats, as my wife is disabled and we wers told No! Although shortly afterwards someone bought a seat for her. I went to the bar and ordered a drink and asked for the drinks to be put on our tab. The barman asked me for our table number. When I told him we hadn't been allocated a table yet he said we should pay for them separately. I called over the person checking people in and she told the barman to put the cost of the drinks against my name. Another couple arrived, also booked for 6.30pm and were told to wait as well. Then a third couple arrived, also booked at 6.30pm and were taken straight to their table. A large party of 12-14 started to leave and we were told our table was being prepared. After, about 5 minutes were taken to a tablewhich had been empty since we arrived. There was food troden into the carpet under our table. We sat there and nothing happened. My wife asked one of the passing staff what was the procedure for ordering. We were told we had to order at the bar. The same bar where we had been seating for over 15 minutes. We were asked if you wanted a menu, which we did. Why couldn't we have been given a menu whilst we were waiting? We went to the bar, ordered two carveries +2 deserts for £11.99 each, which is very cheap. We were given tickets to take to the carvery and there was no one there to serve. After about 3-4 minutes the chef arrived. The food was reasonable, especially for the price, but not very tasty.

Sunday Breakfast ? Oh dear. If you are old enough to remember what a proper greasy spoon café used to be like (plastic table cloths, tarnished cutlery, sticky floor, the smell of old fried fat & fags.....) then be grateful, as they were better in every way than this place ! In essence, the whole place & experience was shoddy. Cheap and cheerful it ain't ; lacking taste, quality, and flavour it certainly was. Instant coffee from a catering box on the bar, in a slightly soiled mug is not an Americano !! Overall, I would not recommend anyone trying this place. Lacking style and any class whatsoever, without mentioning what passes as "breakfast". Very poor.

We were invited by friends for a birthday meal. The staff were very friendly and accommodated all our parties need . Myself and my wife had a mixed grill from their 2for1 menu and were very surprised by the portion sizes and quality of food. Will definitely be going back for seconds.

This place is one of our favourites to meet for a chat, the carvery has always been very reasonable with good quality ingredients, whenever we have had a girls day out we have also gone here for their Buffett breakfast which has always been great. This morning when we arrived I thought it was strange because it’s normally really busy and today I think there were only around 3 tables occupied. So we got our drinks and sat down then went to go and get our breakfast…. Sausages were different.., tasted like really cheap frozen sausages and were a different size just nowhere near as nice as when we have been before. The bacon was ok, eggs looked like they had been there for a time but still tasted ok. Mushrooms were lovely but the baked beans were cold and the toast was rock hard so we asked for some more… the lady rudely said we constantly refresh everything but it’s first come first serve! Quite rude and not true those beans were cold. Have they cut back on the ingredients? Was it just a slow day for replenishing the items ? Of could it be that this is the new norm…. I will give it another try because we have come here for years but we were bitterly disappointed.

We came earlier today for the carvery, the meat was delicious and plenty of choice for vegetables and potatoes. A good quality carvery & good value for money. The desserts were delicious too, will be coming back 👍

Great food, great portions. Not much atmosphere mid week

First time eating here for a family meal, it’s cheap, but not cheerful. Food was absolutely fine for the price, can’t complain. First pint I had was off but swapped and was ok. The tall blonde waitress with a nose ring and tattoos was miserable as sin, draughy soft drinks were off and she said ‘pick a can I can’t be arsed to change the gas’ and practically threw my dessert at me. The other waitress with the horse was much more accommodating.

Fantastic Sunday carvery 12 out of 10. Everything piping hot and meats were delicious. All staff were fabulous and very efficient. Would most definitely recommend The Island Pool. Already booked before leaving and cannot wait to return. A+++. Extremely good value for money!.

A wonderful pub for a gorgeous carvery. There is plenty of choice in the vegetables 😀 lots to enjoy. There were 3 types of meat on offer.We could not manage a pudding as we were rather full but they looked fabulous

We’re from Leamington Spa and decided to take a drive over to Kidderminster for the day. I looked up dog friendly venues and this place popped up, with the added bonus of being a carvery. Phoned up to make a reservation and when we arrived we were welcomed and given a lovely big table in the lounge. Our two fluffy dogs received lots of fuss from the staff, along with water bowl and treats which is always appreciated. The guests in the lounge all fawned over the dogs which made for a really nice atmosphere. We opted for the carvery and were very impressed with all the different options and it all tasted amazing and fresh. Not that we had much room left, but we ordered dessert and it was beautifully displayed and came out really quickly. I’m very impressed with the service, the food and most importantly; the price! Amazing value for money. If we’re ever in the area again we’ll be sure to pop by!

Never before have we had a Christmas Dinner out as a family of 3, but boy oh boy, its going to be an annual visit. The organisation, service, food and atmosphere were second to none. We will definitely be booking for Christmas Day next year!!!

Staff were pleasant.....had carvery... 2 thin slices of meat so asked for extra slice which was provided. Veg overcooked and quite tasteless..... gravy very nice. Food ordered from the menu was very slow coming from the kitchen. Dessert plates were badly chipped. All in all food was cheap and you get what you pay for.

Move over Toby, you ain't got a chance in hell mate. Wetherspoons, Ha. You couldn't even get close to a carvery this good Brewerys fare, more like boo Ok so you get it, this place is good. No, correct that. This place is amazing. The others should take note of how to DO IT RIGHT and that's what this place does. Firstly, you know it's good because you have to book. I used to be able to rock up on most days and get a seat, unfortunately, someone let the cat out of the bag, people found out about this little gem, and now I have to book a table because for me it's a decent drive. Now you are probably thinking, what makes this place so special? it's just a carvery, right? NO ITS NOT JUST A CARVERY, they know what you want. You go to Toby Carvery and get your meat that has been standing around for ages and skin drier than a sun lounger in Benidorm who spent a fortnight on the lounger. NO!!!!!! The island pool uses heat plates with a steamer underneath, when you get your meat it is moist and not just that, decent portions too. You got your meat and you ready for your sides, they blew me away with how many sides they have, seriously, they had stuffing and cheese. I never tried that before but OH MY GOD it's a game changer. My hat goes off to the chef who came up with that doozy and before you think, just try it. The price for all of this carvery was just £8.99 at the time I visited and heck it was totally worth it. Plus, don't let too many people know but you can add a little extra and get dessert as well, put it like this, died and gone to heaven. I would tell you more but I would have to book weeks in advance just to get a booking if everyone knew what it was like

Was so looking forward to eating here today. Turned up, 3 of us, and was taken to our table. I asked if there were going to be any specials on for January, as there was last year, the reply was " I just want to get through December first " not a customer focused answer as far as I am concerned. We decided to all have the cavery. We decided not to pile on the food as we were under the impression that we could return for more veg later. We found out that there is an EXTRA CHARGE if you re visit the carvery station!! Deserts... my wife asked a question concerning one desert and got conflicting answers from the server and the lady taking the orders! All in all, the customer service today was near to non existent, very unhappy with my choice of dining establishment today. Offering specials and then penny pinching when someone goes up for an extra roast potatoe, yorkshire pud and gravy is attrocious! Common decency when replying to customers questions isn't a lot to ask! Won't be going back any time soon!

The only carvery I have been to where it's a one plate rule!! I have been to so many carvery's and always been allowed to re visit the carvery for more veg! It's not that I am greedy, I don't like to over fill my plate!

Lovely pub, visited a few times know, the food is absolutely fantastic, and affordable, would definitely recommend, staff are friendly, however 1 of the bar staff came across rude, after being questioned about the menu, which has put us off dining there again, but each to there own experience 😀

Exelant price, but was spoilt as the turkey was very dry and beans/ broccoli were over cooked and mushy. Also not very cheerful staff to say its almost xmas. It was very busy and obviously has a following, just a little disappointing for us.

You need to book a table and book at least two 2 days before. This is a very, very popular place and is packed most Lunch times even Mondays! The food is awesome. The staff are fantastic, The Cavery is very popular.

Popped in this place Saturday tea time three of us settled down and decided to have the carvery None of us could fault this meal it was absolutely beautiful three meats fresh vegetables The staff where good Didn't book in advance but there wasn't any fuss We'll be returning very soon

Food was excellent and very good value for money BUT it was absolutely freezing in there and the carpark was like an ice rink so if the heating was on and the carpark gritted it would have been a perfect evening

Randomly called here in need of food mid morning, the buffet breakfast was still on, it definitely hit the spot, from midday they do a carvery style meals, the staff were friendly and welcoming and the setting spacious and tranquil, I would certainly go again, a bit of a find I thought 🙂

Went there for a carvery on 19/11/23 booked a table for 4 of us at 4pm, arrived 10 mins early, very busy indeed, would definitely recommend

Could not fault anything here very quick service and food was delicious. Even of full booked they will find a table for you for a short period in nice weather there is outside dining
