Lovely place to eat and catch up with friends. Great food and service from friendly staff especially Mia and Rebecca. Would highly recommend.

Drive by call in on way home. Ordered the fish, cooked perfectly. Delightful little quite pub. Inside was very clean and welcoming as were the staff. Will be bringing the family on next visit.

We had a two night stay at the safari park in one of the lodges and there are two Chef and Brewers close. We had a Gourmet card so we tried both of them. The pub looks like its been refurbished recently and has a lovely outdoor space to sit on the summer. The staff were warm and friendly. We will definitely be back

Lovely clean pub, staff attentive and polite. We had Sunday lunch and was a little disappointed, cold hard vegetables, meat was thily sliced and the Turkey tasted watery and processed, however the roast potatoes were gorgeous. Plenty of gravy but tasted like granulated bisto style. Portion was small but sufficient. The overall cost was over priced. But the biggest surprise was the cost of the drinks, both alcohol and soft drinks were extremely high and over priced. Not recommended.

Went for a family meal on Sunday 18th and the staff was brilliant really welcoming and friendly, service was quick even know it was very busy. Food was exceptional and well worth. Definitely will be visiting again soon

My husband and I decided to go to the Mare and Colt for Sunday lunch today. Well all I can say is the food was appalling. I asked for the Sunday lunch without the meat and that I would like just the vegetables. What I got was one piece of carrot, one small piece of brocoli, two bits of shredded cabbage and 5 tiny pieces of potato. My husband had ordered me a cauliflower cheese to have with the vegetables. It was all stone cold and to be honest the carrot, brocoli, bits of cabbage and potatoes were disgusting. I took my late back and told the member of staff that it was cold. She said she would get me another. When my food came again it was cold and I couldn't eat it. We went up to the var to pay and I told her that my food was cold and that couldn't eat it. They took my meal off the bill. We weren't even apologised to. I will not be recommending the Mare and Colt to anyone and we will definitely not be returning. I won't even be giving it 1 star.

First visit to this pub. Food was excellent. Service first class. The only reason I marked atmosphere was we visited early so the pub was quiet. Really enjoyed the visit.

We visited today as a large family. The staff were amazing. So friendly and helpful. The food was delicious. Even our fussy eater tried new things and cleared his plate. We don't live nearby but we will be going back. Highly recommended

First visit had lunch with friends It was a lovely experience. The service and food was just excellent . And so lovely due to the weather to be able to have a drink after our meal outside thank you.

It's a nice pub, good atmosphere and better than average service. I found the food adequate, though I thought the prices are a little high, at least 20 - 30% higher than I'd expect. 4 of us came to £120 and looking at what we ordered it was all very standard 'pub grub' Nice enough but expensive for what you get.

The staff are very attentive. Our meal came fairly quickly and was delicious. The decor is modern and very clean. We will definitely visit again soon.

Food was OK - typical Harvester fare. The pub was a convenient place to stop on a long journey but a couple of locals were given priority at the bar when ordering which felt unwelcoming. The bar and restaurant area has a nice vibe and the outside area is very nice.

Very lovely service. Sat straight away and high chair brought over to accommodate our needs for the child at the table. Quick service and extremely yummy food. Desserts were excellent. Great environment. Jemima was our waitress and she was lovely.

We stopped off here for Sunday lunch and were so glad we did. The food was amazing! I had the Beef Short Rib and my wife had Turkey. The food was cooked to perfection, the staff were great and the venue was lovely. To top it off the sun was out and ate outside under their lovely pergola. We came to the restaurant for a 50th birthday celebration. Rebecca and her team were absolutely fantastic and we throughly enjoyed the food. We really do want to say a massive thank you as they did such a great job of looking after us and what made us smile is the staff all came out with the birthday cake singing 'happy birthday'. We will definitely be back.

My friends always ask to lunch at the Mare & Colt when they're visiting me. As always, good food, wide choice, reasonably priced and plenty of space to enjoy a catch up. Venue is clean & comfortable. Special thanks to our waiter & waitress today, very polite, helpful & friendly. Will return & can recommend.

Visited for lunch a few weeks ago. Lee was very accomodating, he let us use the car park while we were house hunting. We returned for lunch and we were'nt disappointed. The food and service was excellent. Will definitly become our local..

Worst Sunday Roast ever had,we did arrive after 3pm but that Beef, roast potatoes or Yorkshire pud,should have been served to us,unfortunately we paid for it,Happy to get away,

Popped in on a whim on Sunday of bank holiday weekend as up road from go outdoors. Ordered 2 beef dinners which was about £17 each. Food arrived and was very disappointed. one tiny peice of broccoli and very very small bit of cabbage all of which might just about fill a spoon. 3 potatoes 2 of which I wouldn't even count as so small. A carrot and what looked like an amazing Yorkshire pudding. Unfortunately looks can be deceiving as it must have been left in oven to keep warm and had gone so hard and brittle the whole thing literally disintegrated when you tried to cut into it. It was literally unedable. There was 2 good peices of beef and the gentleman who served us was very friendly so I gave 2 stars. I do not think this was anywhere near quality food or good value.I left out of pocket and hungry. We didn't get asked if anything was OK with meal to raise this issue and it was busy at bar so I wasn't confident to complain as it would have effected my anxiety.

Popped in for lunch and was surprised how much this place has changed as I had not been in for a long while. All for the better and looks lovely with lots of cosy areas. The range of lunch food was good and suited the three of us visiting who all like different things.

Hadn't been here in a long time as didn't have a good couple of experiences but as time goes on new people take over and we decided to give it a try. So much better than previous, friendly welcome, lovely atmosphere and our service by Dulcie was fantastic. So glad we tried it again.

I booked here for a birthday lunch today. On the online booking form I requested a quiet table as my 99 year old mother has dementia and a noisy environment bothers her. On arrival I confirmed that this would be possible. We were taken to an area that filled up very quickly and naturally became a little noisy. There were so many tables dotted around the restaurant that were so quiet and I couldn't understand why my request was basically ignored. The food I have to say was very cold and I observed that the next table to us made the same remarks. Not sure I would visit again.

Nice food, good selection, pleasant surroundings, efficient staff. Maisy our waitress was attentive and good natured while under pressure.

We had a vegan Wellington (shown in picture) and a steak. Food was great, staff very lovely and the place has a great homey atmosphere.

Sat in the bar for a few hours. Nice atmosphere and had a a bottle of champagne to celebrate some good news. Decided then to have something to eat in the restaurant. We had the cheese sharing board to start and then a hunters chicken type meal for mains. All very well presented and nicely washed down with some lovely g&t’s. Services was good and friendly. Restaurant was quite busy and the bar, so nice atmosphere. A pleasant way to spend 5 hours! Clean and nicely refurbished. Will return!

Faultless ! We are regulars at the Mare & Colt whether for a cheeky meal for 2 or a family celebration. We had a meal this evening was absolutely faultless from start to finish. The lovely Amelia looked after us and ensured everything was perfect for us. Great service

Had burnt bread on cheese sandwich.Service bad..They were expecting party of 18 and only 4 of us sat another table.We sat there about 15 mins before they took our order....no excuse as it wasn't busy.

We arrived around 16:40 and our drinks and meal orders were taken. Many items weren't available and the server said that we "had come at the worst time". Not too much of a problem and we ordered other items from the menu. 45 Minutes later the server came to apologise and let us know that there was a problem with the ordering system and our order hadn't gone through. By this time one of the items ordered was no longer available. The food then arrived 1hr10 after ordering. We received possibly the worst food I've ever been served in a restaurant. Of the 9 meals there was only one that was remotely edible. The majority had clearly been sat under a heat lamp for an extended period of time as most of it was now cold and hard. The Turkey on the Sunday dinner was dry and crunchy. Sent this back and received the same plate that had evidently just been microwaved. The others we received were equally dry, cold or overcooked. The roast sirloin was like chewing gum and so dry that no amount of gravy was going to save it. The Lamb Shank shepherds pie was so overcooked that the lamb shank was a dry, congealed lump on top, the minced lamb in the bottom had formed into a burnt sticky clump which came out the same shape as the dish with the mash so dry on top that it had formed a complete skin over it of dry potato. The kids meals were either overcooked or cold. The kids pizza was the only think that wasn't dry, that was a barely cooked, clearly microwaved pizza with cold broccoli. All of the Yorkshire puddings were so dry that they crumbled to dust. The carrots were well cooked though. The only meal that was remotely edible was the duo of chicken. This crispy chicken was nice (as was anything deep fried like the chips) but the chicken breast was also overcooked and dry. Based on the food, there was no way that the food hadn't been sat around for ages and I suspect that it was just forgotten on the pass. As soon as you looked at the plates of food, it was clear that there were major issues with it yet it was still sent out. The chefs should be utterly ashamed that that "food" left their kitchen. We had our drinks order taken when we sat then didn't see another member of staff other than when the initial error was brought to our attention after 45 mins and when the food finally arrived. There was no proactive resolution of the problems to our meals other than the offer of free desserts which was declined. After complaining to the manager she removed the majority of the food from the bill which was appreciated. This was possibly the worst experience I have ever had in any restaurant from fine dining to Wetherspoons. In the end we were all so hungry that we resorted to a take away when we got home, having wasted 2 hours for one drink each. On reading the menu we arrived in high hopes for a lovely meal and left, vowing never to return

Always friendly and still feels like a country pub.

Lovely traditional country pub, delicious food and friendly efficient staff. The atmosphere is great, nice background music not too loud so can have a conversation over the table. Staff are attentive and don't rush you.

Overpriced and tiny portions. Paid £11 for one fishcake and some lettuce. My friend paid £3.50 for one piece of garlic bread cut in half. Won’t be returning after coming for many years.

Great service - Rebecca was our waitress and she was very patient. We were a family booking of 10 and 4 of the children have learning difficulties so a meal can be quite challenging. Rebecca was very patient and helpful. The food was great and pub is always consistent with its standards.

Lovely pub, portions are on a par with children’s portions though. Was not very happy and mentioned it to the staff but they just said that’s how the portions are. We ordered a side of garlic bread for £3.29 and received ONE very small slice of garlic bread cut into two, when I asked if that was it the waitress said yes. A side of onion rings was £3.49, there were 6 small onion rings. I had mushy peas with my fish, there was literally 1 tablespoon of peas on my plate. I could go on …

Visited as a family on Easter Monday. The staff were helpful and seated us early on request. The others enjoyed their meals but my slow-cooked steak pie was almost inedible, lots of thick pastry and the meat was tough and gristly.

This was a lovely dinner with the family celebrating a birthday. Was comfy inside with lots of space. Service was great, with staff being kind and welcoming. Food was good, although some of it was cold such as the sticky toffee pudding. However, it was so delicious we didn’t even both sending it back cause it tasted too good to wait. Overall, amazing place and food.

I went for a lovely Easter Sunday roast, we all enjoyed the meal and the atmosphere and the pub was really nice, we were served by Rebecca who was very friendly and the service was excellent, thankyou.

8 of us dined here today, the food was standard stuff for a pub like this, ie edible but nothing special. Janna served us and she was very friendly and attentive, we all commented how good she was, thank you Janna for your efforts.

Went today with 2 friends had fish ciabatta sandwich fries my friends had blt one .delicious food .I slightly altered my food no problems at all . Puddings were delightful . staff member very helpful at all times will be returning soon

Over priced menu. Friendly service. Lunchtime visit so nice quiet atmosphere. Poshed up menu without quality and quantity.. I had a stater of creamy garlic mushroom on ciabatta.shocking must have ran out of mushrooms approx 1 sliced mushroom in approx 1table spoon of sauce, not enough to cover one slice of the bread. Very disappointed. Not good value for money at all

Waited hour and ten minutes for food for four. Plates cold, two helpings cold, wrong drinks, staff gave the impression they didn't want to be there. Head waiter was so far up her own backside it was untrue and didn't like criticism at all. Needs a good shakeup.

The first visit back since the refurb and I must admit the pub looks great. The staff were pleasant but not overly switched on with what was/wasn’t available. The food was very average, my husband had scampi…difficult to mess up. I had a veggie flatbread from the lunch menu which was boring, hard going and smothered in various mayo. I find it hard to believe in this day and age, a large company struggle to provide decent, nutritious food for veggies and vegans? No table check done and no deserts offered from the specials menu. More staff training/ supervision required. Can do better!

This is part of the Chef & Brewer chain. There is a good range of meals on the main menu, but also they have daily specials. Food was served quickly, piping hot and was absolutely delicious, staff were as always very friendly and efficient. It can get busy so may be worth reserving a table and I am sure you won't be disappointed as the food is terrific. The car park can get quote full, but there is additional parking, so look for the sign to the right as you pull into the car park. When we get warmer (and dryer weather), there is outside seating available. Looking forward to a return visit soon.

The service was exceptional and the food excellent. Considering ours was a large party we got our food in good time and made what was a lunch for a colleague who was leaving us a memorable one.

Lovely country pub on the outskirts of Kidderminster. Friendly staff and nice relaxed atmosphere. Good choice of dishes on the menu with reasonable prices. Nine of us visited on a late Christmas works do. All the meals came out together and were well presented and hot. Very much enjoyed by all and we will definitely be visiting again.

Brilliant service! Lovely location, friendly staff. We had Chelsea who served us on her second day there, who really made us feel very welcome. She did an amazing job! We hope to visit again very soon. We would highly recommend The Mare & Colt to anyone.

Went just before Christmas for an evening meal. Quite frankly, it was the nicest tastiest pie I have ever ever had! Generous portion size, good value for money and service with a smile. Everyone even wished us a very merry Christmas. Just a really really nice place. Will definitely go back again!

Amazing breakfast with Santa. Kitchen staff did an amazing job of keeping up with the number of people having breakfasts and lovely waiting staff. Best Santa kids have seen.
