On a day trip to St. Martin's we were looking for a place to have lunch and stumbled upon The Island Bakery. We were very happy we did. Everyone is very friendly and the food is outstanding. All the baked goods are first rate. I had never eaten a "frazzle" before, but thoroughly enjoyed it. I highly recommend it.

Great place to stock up with bread, cakes, savouries and pizza. We visited for a delicious lunch-time snack and ordered a pizza for our meal that evening - cooked to order and collected at the end of the day, perfect.

Lovely bakery items! Perfect for something light and easy and great quality :) had a lovely ham bun which was fresh and tasty and my family enjoyed their pastys thoroughly

Everything we had from here was delicious, so much so we had to go back for seconds. Seating outside was nice. Beware of the cat which wasn’t too friendly! Not as much food at lunchtime, when it’s gone it’s gone. Undeniable 5 out of 5, must visit.

If you want freshly made bread and local produce this is the place for you. In the centre of the island this place gets busy for tourists wanting good quality sandwiches and cakes. Friendly staff who will make a filling to your liking if ones not on display. Worth the little walk up from the quay.

A delightful bakery with good food and cakes. Perfect chocolate crunch, and cornish pasties. The food looked and tasted good.

Everything baked on the premises and a wonderful choice, especially if you have just got off the ferry, walked up the hill and still have two miles to go before getting to Lower Town or the camp site. Lovely cakes and bread and a treat to walk in after following the smell wafting down the lane.

Visited en route to the harbour to purchase picnics for our days out. Superb filled rolls - crab salad was excellent. Teenage son enjoyed a number of Cornish pasties plus a bacon/cheese pastry 'frazzle' and we both tried out the selection of sweet treats - the flapjack and shortbread were lovely. Friendly staff - a pleasure to visit.

Fresh bakes bread rolls every day with delicious fillings. Highly recommend the lobster rolls. Huge rolls packed with filling. Good coffee and a choice of cakes. Must visit.

The Bakery Came across this little bakery, purchased some rolls for lunch to sit and eat in the sunshine, probably the best l have eaten delicious. Freshly made and baked Get there early as they run out quickly !!

Brilliant! One of the best lobster rolls Ive ever eaten, and Ive eaten alot both here and abroad, great fresh roll jammed packed with fresh local lobster , light lemony mayo and rocket, One of the bsest things I ate in the Scillys!

Underwhelming! One of those places with signs everywhere telling you what you shouldn’t do. Pasties were poor and they’d run out by 12.30. No cold drinks. Treacle tart very chewy pastry and not much treacle. Shortbread…. They hadn’t used enough butter. Rolls were a lot of bread and a little light on contents! Huge queue outside as was the only place open. End of season so perhaps they’re fed up with tourists, weren’t terribly friendly service wise either.

Cake tasted of soda. Lovely setting. Unfortunately it wasn’t open when we first visited on Bank holiday Sunday in August. Surprising after a pandemic when season so short. But I guess everyone needs a day off once a week.

Delicious food and very friendly staff. By far the best lunch we had in Scilly. Don't miss this place.

An unexpected hidden gem in beautiful St Martin’s. We had delicious, substantial, home baked filled rolls. My wife had cheese and pickle and I had crab- both our favourites, followed by a flapjack and homemade lemonade. Marvellous and very friendly too.

There was quite a queue here when we arrived (fresh off the boat like everyone else) but the food was worth the wait. On a cold day it was a delight to take the hot pastie to the beach to eat. Highly recommended.

We stopped off at the Island Bakery after seeing it on Julia Bradburys show Walking the Scillies. The lady who served us was lovely, had a nice chat with her whilst she served us a couple of rolls, some freshly made lemonade and some sweet treats. We then sat outside on the benches and it was lovely and tranquil. Highly recommended.

Bought our lunch to takeaway to sit on the beach..... rolls, pasties, cake. Also ordered take away coffee. Great service and food. The bakery was really really busy as the morning boat had just dropped off. Plus it was a Friday and Polreath Tearoom is closed on Fridays. So maybe everyone here instead of some to Polreath.

The Bakery on St Martin's is primarily a shops with some outside seating and no table service. By the time we arrived for our late lunch, supplies were low with many sold out lines. The sausage roll, chocolate cake and a fresh fruit slice were amazing, both super fresh and very tasty. With two coffees the bill came to just over £10.

We had two lunches at the Bakery. Yummy food and great little spot with outdoor tables and lots of lovely birds around too! Delightful. We had crab rolls, pizza, cake and homemade lemonade. All delicious. Make sure you pre-order though!

Excellent cakes, filled rolls and drinks. We purchased some take away rolls for the next days lunch. Sat outside to eat. Would definitely return.

On an island visit we had a coffee and bought pasties to eat later. The coffee was absolutely fine as was the service. The pasty had rather strange tasting pastry and lacked flavour although plenty of content. Maybe needed more swede, onion, pepper?

Friendly, efficient and with a great selection of take away food and drinks. We enjoyed take away pizza cakes and hot drinks.

My husband absolutely loved the crab roll, was a real generous size too, we also had a steak pastie and Lemon Cake. We were able to sit outside with all the sparrows watching us, beware they are not afraid to sit very close

We stopped here every day. Delicious rolls with fresh crab. Tea and coffee. Cakes and chocolate slices. Several tables outside where you can eat in the sunshine and watch the sparrows fight over the crumbs. Excellent food. Would we recommend. Yes. Definitely.

Lovely place, young girl was very helpful ... even though they had virtually sold out! Made us a couple of nice egg mayo rolls. Stunning setting.

Had excellent fresh filled rolls, a slice of cherry and almond cake a cup of tea for lunch. Good seating area outside. Recommended!

Came here nearly everyday for a packed lunch as we were on boats and kayaks most days. The rolls are absolutely filling and full of flavour. My favourite being the crab rolls and cherry & almond cake! Delicious. Love the place xxx

Offering exceptional, freshly baked produce made with locally sourced ingredients. The pleasant walk up from the campsite to earn a delicious breakfast, and return with a take away lunch is a great start to the day.

We called in each day we were on St Martin's - for a coffee, a snack or to buy bread, cakes or pasties. Wonderful to find such an enterprise on the island.

Walking around the island was very nice, it got better when we stopped for a spot of lunch at the bakery. The pasty’s are very large and packed with tasty meat and veg. The local sparrows know there is a good lunch to be had. Well worth a visit.

This little bakery is a delight to visit. The cakes and biscuits are delicious, the traditional Cornish pasties are great and the freshly made bread. We had the guest bread on our last day which was a sun-dried tomato and oregano ciabatta - so yummy!!! Friendly staff too.

Pasty to die for and the home made lemonade is a must. You must visit if you are ever on the island,

St martins is an amazing island and to find a bakery was amazing. Bread was fab we tried the special, good coffee and fab cakes too.

How lovely to be able to buy delicious fresh bread and cakes on such a tiny island in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.

Huge delicious pasties. Beautifully seasoned and with pastry that is somehow both flakier and doughier than others. There were lots of yummy looking cakes and biscuits too, although we were too full to try them!

Lovely little tucked away bakery on St Martins. A must if you're staying or just visting for the day.

We stopped here for lunch on a hot August day. Their sandwiches were fresh & generous & their lemon drizzle cake was very good too.

What a great little place on St Martins. Only had a sandwich and flap jack but they were delicious and fantastic to be able to get freshly made stuff on such a small island.

Not sure why everyone raves about this place. We arrived off one of the first boats to the island. There was a lack of choice and the shelves were sparse, surely they should have been fully stocked at this time in the morning. Disappointing

The food is fresher than oxygen. Super massive baps, pizzas and cornish pasties. A few little tables outside and a gallery near by. You will buy things from here bets ya

A clean food and drink outlet with good homemade food. A limited range of high quality cakes and tray bakes. The seating is outside so good weather is essential. The drinks are served in disposable cups and there are no toilet facilities. Well worth a stop when walking on St Martins

We stopped off here for a cake and cuppa and were not disappointed.

First class bakery. Nice people, lovely products, excellent coffee. We stopped for refreshments midway through a walk. Nothing on offer for coeliacs at this visit sadly. However we enjoyed out visit and will return

Some could say it's hard to find but there's only one road so just keep looking. Great food though it's a first come first service operations therefore choice could become limited.

We took the boat to St Marys and came across The Bakery in the middle of the island on a most beautiful day. The cakes and biscuits are delightful as is the setting and staff.

No trip to St Martins would be complete without a trip to the bakery to sample some of their wares. Whether it's a freshly made sandwich or cake, or some of their freshly-made real lemonade, you never leave disappointed.

What an amazing little bakery on St. Martin's! A great selection of rolls, pizza, bread, cakes and pastries. I had a bacon and cheese twist which was simply delicious, as well as home-made lemonade. Outside seating area with a gallery nearby. Polite staff.

This is definitely a good place to stop for coffee and pick up your picnic for the day's walking. If yiu are staying on St Martin's I imagine it's the 'go to' place for your daily bread. Lots of delicious homemade snacks on offer, as well as stunning shortbread and other sweet treats.

Fresh and lovely to eat. Opens at 9 before everything on the island so good stop to pop to 1st have a nice pastry and hot drink to start the day.

Good location with a nice range of baking and sandwiches and hot drinks. Pleasant staff and some welcome picnic tables outside. Very busy, helpful staff.

Brought a couple of plain rolls to put my own filling in for a beach picnic, cannot fault them at all very tasty with cheese filling, have not tried any of their filled rolls so cannot comment, did have a bit of the Cornish heavy cake, again very good cannot fault, staff were friendly as well.

Mouth watering food to eat in or takeaway. Best pasty's and cakes' at resonable prices. Easy to find in the centre of St Mary's town centre.

A beautiful setting to perfectly suit the tasty produce of this bakery. One of the nicest pasties I’ve ever tried, with its lovely buttery pastry. The selection of breads, sandwiches and other foods was very good. The cake/treat options were tasty also, we shared a chocolate crunch and a cranberry, white chocolate cookie. Highly recommend grabbing a bite to eat from this place if your visiting St Martins.

St Martin’s is by far the best of the Scilly islands. And the Bakery is as good as the island!

Fab bakery selling bread, pastys and other yummy products. They make rolls for lunchtime and the bread is hot and stunning first thing in the morning. Deffo recommend it 100%. Thanks for the stunning fresh produce.

Enjoyed Daisy's recent review - what fun she must be to have on holiday. This is a bakery which does takeaway food for picnics, there are picnic benches you can sit on outside to eat, ot take it away to eat on a headland somewhere. Its not a china cup sort of place - bring your own travel mug if the disposable cup is a concern, and I think the environmental point is the only sensible thought she had. The charm of the island is that it is not developed - there are toilets at the nearby higher town quay and there is a cafe with indoor seating about 40 yards away. Personally, the planters on the picnic tables were a nice added touch this year. As ever thoroughly recommend the crab rolls, pasties - missed out on provencal tart this year, but the pizza was good for the teenagers. I suspect that was Daisy's 1st and last visit to a charming island with excellent picnic fare - we never pack a picnic for our forays to St Martins, and its a routemarch from Lower Town Quay to make sure the pasties are not sold out -

The pasties were bland, and seemed to be predominantly potato. Service friendly. Well placed if you are walking the island's roads; but not worth a special visit.

Lovely bread. We bought the bread special which was focaccia and brown and white rolls. All delicious. We also enjoyed the Provence pie. The children were disappointed by the margarita pizza.

The Island Bakery is located just off of the only road that runs from one side of the island to the other. Very friendly staff. We had the freshly made crab rolls, the Cornish pasties, and the cakes, all excellent. Good tea and coffee, and a lovely traditional lemonade. Only a few stools inside, but several picnic tables outside. They also do pizza's, which can be ordered and collected later in the day.

My visit here was made memorable by the Crab rolls on offer. All white meat with mayonnaise and lettuce in a freshly baked bun - absolutely sublime and for less that 7 pounds!

This is the local Bakery at Higher Town, St Martins. The pasties are delicious & being greedy I had the large! Some outside tables allow you to enjoy the sunshine & mainly the peace & quiet. From here you can follow the road down the hill to the Higher Town Quay.

We had fresh rolls, pasties and cakes. The bread rolls were outstanding - baked fresh that day - and their fillings delicious amazing. Highly recommend the crab sandwich. The flavours were so fresh and not drowned in dressing. Recommend the roll or pasty is followed by the shortbread! Staff very friendly.

A lovely sunny day so ideal for a picnic. So pleased we decided to buy from the bakery and have a picnic rather than visit a cafe. Their crab roll and cheese roll were both filled to overflowing , made on request while we waited and tasted delicious. The cakes were good too and value for money. We really enjoyed the home made lemonade, what a treat.

I was rather disappointed in this place, which is on St Martin's island. Most of the seating is outside although there isn't a great deal and I expect on good days in high season folk sit on the grass opposite. Cannot understand why their hot drinks are served in disposal cups surely china mugs are more environmentally friendly for the island and the service wasn't particularly friendly on the day we visited, also no toilet facilities close by.

I have always found the staff here to be pleasant. There is a good selection of rolls and cakes. More importantly the food is always very tasty. I always visit when on the island.

On a recent holiday on St Martin's we visited the bakery three times, and found the products to be well made and delicious. Would highly recommend the spicy veggie pasties. We also pre-ordered two pizzas one day and picked them up before 5 that evening. The toppings were very well made, and the pizzas well cooked, though were a little too doughy for my liking.

Purchased products from the bakey on several occasions and were never disappointed. Both vegetarian and meat options. Good lunch.

This is a lovely bakery with a good selection of cakes and amazing organic bread. Well worth the higher prices.

Enjoyed the steak pasty and tea. Would have liked to try the pizza slices too. Nice and chilled out.

Planned to call in for bread (which we got) but also for a coffee and cake which was scrummy. We had between us shortbread and chocolate cake plus hot drinks. It was sensibly priced and as we don't do caffeine asked for decaf - again no issues here. We sat outside on the benches before getting the ferry back to St Mary's. It is easy to find, good food, nice drinks and a seat which after walking around the island was very welcome. I look forward to returning on our next visit.

Don’t go to this bakery! There is no toilet, the nearest one (that they rudely direct you to) is quite far away at the village hall - about a 15/20 minute walk away. The service is rude and the “baking” is all very average. I’m not sure where the arrogance comes from, apart from perhaps the beautiful view. There are other just as beautiful places on St Martin’s. Go to one of those places instead.

Everything made here is superb and the staff were incredibly friendly and genuine too - stock up when you visit, no matter which island you're staying on! Don't miss it!

We were wondering where to have lunch on the island of St Martin's, but we needn't have worried. The bakery is basic in some ways but certainly makes very good bread indeed - the crab rolls were excellent and we also bought some plain rolls...

Beautiful food and special Bakery, much more than the name suggests. You must have some food from there when you visit the island.

you just have to go and buy your goodies from here, wonderful, you wont know what to pick, so have a bit of all of it.

We went in for a roll or a sandwich but decided to buy the "Meal Deal" which consisted of a large beef pasty, a choice of cake and a hot drink for £6.50. The pasty was good but we would have liked a bit more seasoning. The coffee was good and hot and the cake excellent.

Day trip to St Martins, and this was a charming stop for tea and a pasty. The tame sparrows outside added to the fun of a very timely and enjoyable stop.

We really appreciated the quality and flavour of The Island Bakery bread, cakes and huge pasties (perhaps next time we'll settle for the smaller version). And the pizza was more than enough for the two of us. Excellent quality and good value

We purchased a Cornish pasty and some bread which we took down to the beach for our lunch. Both were delicious, fresh, hot and would have no hestiation in recommending the bakery.

Lovely fresh baked bread , cakes and pastries. Good latte. We also had a tasty home made tomato soup. Well worth a visit . Sit outside and feed the birds!!

The team work so hard in producing home baked food and pasties and they all taste great. The service is professional although the culture is years behind th mainland.

We enjoyed trying the pasties on all of the inhabited Scilly Isles and this place had the best steak parties of all, narrowly beating the ones at the shop on Bryher Island. Hand made on site, liberally filled with real chunks of steak and fresh out of the oven, they were perfect for lunch.We also had the chocolate chip brioche buns but they were disappointing.

So nice to be able to choose picnic food of top quality (including homemade lemonade) & then simply amble down to the beach & enjoy! The rolls were crammed with tasty fillings, the cherry bakewell just divine & later, back at our holiday bungalow, we had the treacle tart for our dessert with Try Town vanilla ice cream!

Perfect location for lunch when visiting St. Martins. The food here is delicious - obviously, being a bakery, the choices are slightly limited but despite that they had a few gluten free savouries such as quiche, as well as a couple of gf cakes. The staff were very helpful about dietary requirements and the pasties/sausage rolls are AMAZING (but sadly not gf - I have had then before diagnosis of coeliac). Only issue is there is only outdoor seating so if the weather is wet you may want to eat on the go.

Fresh produce straight from the oven, suberb pasties and a friendly welcome. A great place to stop to top up the picnic or fuel up before walking the island.

Wonderful place to stop, order a cake and coffee, take in the gorgeous view and spend half an hour or so savouring the magnificent produce purchased for reasonable prices from the bakery.

We stopped here before heading to the beach and got a tasty range of lunch treats. Pasties were good but the highlight was the lemon yoghurt cake. All yum and baked on site. Just make sure you get in early as they can sell out quickly.

The Island Bakery is just up the hill from Higher Town Quay. As well as artisan breads, it sells a range of cakes, sandwiches, rolls, soup, drinks & snacks. The only problems is what to choose. It has bench seating outside along with a water bowl for your dog. There is an art gallery next door, which is also worth a visit.
