Lovely and friendly staff who said we were welcome to come in with our dogs. Good cakes and coffee. All lovely until the grumpy manager told us off for letting our dog sit on a cushion - I’m not objecting to the request - it was fair and with hindsight we should have just popped her under the table. However, his rudeness and continuing bad looks was not appropriate. We had after all spent a decent amount of money there and we weren’t objecting to his request. Sadly, I wouldn’t go back.

Comrades is disgustingly horrible!! I had a half toasted , slice of bread with bland old avocado on top, disguised as a avocados sourdough rye toastier. £7.50 later, I realised it was a massive rip off. One piece of bread? On cold avocado? Toasted? THIS PLACE IS GARBAGE CAFETERIA OR PRISON FOOD. STAY AWAY.

I live further down Burdett Road. This is my favourite place to go read a book and have something to eat. It's very relaxing and the good choice of music is not too loud. The staff are welcoming and there's a view of the park. It's just a nice place to be. They also warm the chocolate brownies which make them soft and gooey!

The staff are friendly at this good coffee shop. We enjoyed the coffee and also the food, which is good quality. We had croissants and panini. The indoor area is good but we chose to eat outside in the small courtyard at the back.

I went in here for a cup of tea the other day, and was astonished to hear that they were charging £2.60 for a teabag in a cup of hot water.

If You are in the area looking for a nice coffee shop for a quick break or a place to stop with friends for a chat. This is for sure the ideal place. Super chilled, the staff was very nice and a couple of areas to sit outside, one where for smokers and one for nonsmokers. If I'm back in the area for sure I will visit again. Totally recommend.

I've been here a few times. It's a nice little coffee shop, with a good selection of food. The toasties are delicious and substantial - a very filling meal in their own right! I had brunch there once and was disappointed - not a very good avocado on toast, which was a shame. Still, for a quick lunch and a coffee you can't go wrong!

I really wanted to be blown away by this new coffee shop in Mile End having seen it a few times from the bus. But it was a pretty average experience sadly. I got to the counter and was told by the staff member to hold on with a raised finger as well in case I’d not fully understood. Then someone else came up who was more with it and asked if I’d been served. The ordering was fine and we chatted about a very cool old picture of the area. I then felt I waited longer than necessary for my coffee (nothing tricky - an Americano) which was scalding hot but bitter and no depth or flavour, in a takeaway cup with no sleeve to stop the heat my Portuguese tart was ok but tasted a bit mass produced. (I didn’t taste the coffee til I’d left - it was too hot! Hence why I didn’t ask for it to be remade) All in all disappointing...... but all the other reviews are great so I will probably give it another go just in case it was an off day.

Gorgeous neighbourhood café with a distinct personality. Great sandwiches and very rich, delicious coffees. Staff are quite friendly as well. Definitely liked the vibe, much nicer than the typical chain vibe. And there's plenty of plug sockets if you need to charge your phone.

Firstly, what lovely welcoming people running it. Good customer service coutns for so much. Secondly, the decor, it's a wonderfully interesting mix of photos, picture, and maps on the wall and is made of a mix of modern and classic design items. It makes you want to stay there, maybe on that comfy sofa in the corner. There is a seating type for everyone. The coffee and bacon buttie were both excellent and reasonable value. It's just perfect

We went here after visiting Mile End parkrun. Even though toast was not on the menu they did me some sourdough toast - it was absolutely beautiful, just what I needed. My friend had the almond croissant warmed up, she was very pleased with it....

The coffee is great and the staff are friendly. I would recommend to anyone passing to pop in and grab a lovely coffee, much better than chain coffee shops such as Starbucks and Costa.

🚇 Island Gardens 🍺 £5.30 Heineken The Ferry House is located close to the banks of the Thames at the southern edge of the Isle of Dogs in East London. The nearest station is Island Gardens on the DLR. The Ferry House was established 1722 and is the oldest surviving pub on the Island. The pub’s location near to the old ferry point across to Greenwich meant it was ideally placed to cater for travellers crossing the river. This is a compact one bar pub with cosy rooms either side of the main bar. The servery is centrally located and has Courage lettering at the top of the back bar. Just off the main bar to the right is a snug room with sofas, a period fireplace and a Tv. At the back left of the pub is another cosy room with a Fives dartboard, a flat screen and a fish tank. The decor consists of white T&G wall panels, burnt orange wall paper and a boarded floor. The room at the back is carpeted and has dark wood panelling and beams. At the rear of the pub is a sunken walled beer garden. The beer line up was a selection of familiar mainstream beers and included one cask ale. I decided on a Heineken, my pint was great, price point was reasonable at just over a fiver. There is no food served here at present. We arrived around 4.30pm on an overcast Saturday afternoon in October. The pub was fairly busy with locals sat around the bar. The atmosphere was chilled and laidback with a local pub feel. The service was good, the chap who served us was pleasant and courteous. Visiting @theferryhousepub was an enjoyable experience, I loved the history that surrounds this pub. The reasonably priced beer, comfortable surroundings and a laidback local pub feel made for a relaxing stay at this watering hole. 📅 12th October 2024 More London Pub info @londonpubmap 🍻
