Browns Bar & Brasserie - West India Quay in Tower Hamlets

The schnitzel and roast were very good. We came to this place after a 10k run on the recommendation of people from another restaurant. We were warmly welcomed by the staff, especially Nicole. We had delicious food and relaxed while listening to piano music.

Had a lovely Sunday roast today, big thank you to Nicole for being an amazing waitress and so on the ball and helpful!

Food was good. Service was quick and attentive. Atmosphere was nice and warm. Place clean and well-maintained. Overall we had a pleasant lunch.

This is a really nice restaurant, perfect for any special occasion. The food was really good I had lobster linguine and my companion had steak and chips both of which were excellent in flavour and quality. The cocktails are good and of course location was great. Will definitely come back here in future.

I have a party every year and invite everyone I would like to come to my funeral. A Wake while I’m Awake. 85 people yesterday. Wonderful service, professional and friendly and delicious food. A great party on what was a very gloomy day in London.

I went to the restaurant last night with my girls and we had a great time. They have great food and the service was excellent. I was glad seeing vegetarian options as well. Mr Reece was so nice and kind to us. It was lovely altogether.

Came here for an intimate couples evening, our server Joe was everything close to perfection. Thank you for the wonderful evening Joe, however my husband may of drank abit too much. Will be back soon.

We had the roast which was ok. I got the beef and my friend got the chicken. The beef was easy to eat but it was not piping hot! They could improve on how they cook their potatoes, it was slightly over cooked and the gravy as lacked flavour/ salt

This sadly was a terrible lunchtime experience, I ordered my meal then chef decided to make what they wanted and the waiter was clueless! A manager came over and tried to explain and make some offers but I went there for lunch not offers! All round bad experience!

I went there on Sunday with my Husband and Adult Grandson, they fitted us in which was so kind as they were busy, the food was gorgeous, prawns and scallops to start, so tasty, then we had the roast pork, beef and a sea bass risotto all beautifully cooked, we really enjoyed it, the staff including the manager could not do enough for us, they were friendly and gave excellent service and attention, thank you we had a lovely afternoon at Browns and looking to book again next month when we are back in London

We were Saturday in browns with my friends and we had such a lovely time the place was beautiful decorated,great service and food we actually want to mention our waitress Simona she was so lovely looked after us very well, nothing was too much very good service like that we didn’t have in a long time,very professional and polite and kind ,we will definitely come back and bring my family,see you soon brown

Christmas lunch with work colleagues, the food was generally good but the presentation wasn’t the best this time. The service was excellent though, thank you.

Very nice brasserie with good views and nice outdoor seating. The menu is varied and the food is tasty. Service is also amazing, we would like to particularly thank Victoria for the great service and accommodating us for breakfast today!

Arrived for breakfast at 11.30am thinking is was until 12, however our lovely waitress Nicole popped to the kitchen and asked the chef if he could still do breakfast, thankfully it was a yes and it was delicious, we both had the traditional breakfast which was massive, everything was cooked perfectly from the runny eggs to the crispy but not burnt bacon, the mango smoothie along with lattes where all really nice. I think front of house staff make a big difference to a restaurant and therefore need to give a massive 10/10 to Nicole, friendly, funny, personable and very professional.

Great place for food and drinks

Browns is a pretty good place. Been there many times and love it.

We first came here unexpectedly on an October Sunday and they fitted in our group of 8 no problem. Most of us had the roast and it was beautiful! The staff were friendly, and it encouraged us to come back in December. December: mainly had the festive menu, and it was a great experience. We had crackers, a corner table, and we had a great time. The food (all 3 courses x 8 people) was fantastic - clear plates all round. A couple of confusions over the menu/bill, but all sorted. Richardo(?) was our waiter and was very friendly, helpful and attentive at the right times. Will be visiting again.

Had a really disappointing visit to browns on Tuesday. Was a special occasion for a family members birthday. Service was incredibly slow with only 2 members of staff serving, which isn’t their fault but bad planning by management. We had booked a table well in advance as well. Took over 40 minutes to get drinks and an hour for food. The chicken on the kids meals was inedible it was burnt and dry. The afternoon tea was very average, sandwiches dry and very small scones. No acknowledgment of special occasion even though it was mentioned on the booking. Overall not the standard we would expect from Browns and would not return.

We had our new year eve dinner in Browns. It was an amazing and beautiful night. Goods, services and atmosphere are all good! People are happy there.

Joe the General manager was a delight made our evening so special as it was also our anniversary. Honestly couldn’t ask for a better evening.

Overall a very nice restaurant. Ate there today for Lunch with my family, not that busy which was nice as we got our food served fairly fast.

We thought the wine selection was lovely. Stop Everything else was awful. The service was bad with rude and inattentive staff. Who were shouting across the restaurant at each other about friends they knew and drinking alcohol direct for the bar. Staff realised they had been spotted drinking alcohol and ran away laughing to the back area. We were told the scallops were only one left. My elderly aunt was sick 2.5h later indicating a high risk of food poisoning. My elderly mothers champagne cocktail was warm and returned twice before giving up. We were charged for things on the bill we didn't have. The waitress was very abrasive in her manner. We have encountered rude staff before at browns. But decided to return year after year for birthday meals. As the food normally wins. This time however we have decided to stop coming to browns entirely. We are so unhappy as my mother's birthday was ruined. We really tried to keep our chins up and carry on. However this was impossible due to staff behaviour. We will never recommend browns. And would deter people from West India Quay branch too.

Xmas Day dinner, not great at all!!!! £100pp set festive menu. Food was all average, cold and overcooked. Not even an alcoholic or 1 soft drink included in that price. Atmosphere is great, so best to just go for a drink

Great location in the popular Canary Wharf area. Food menu was the festive type a bit limited post christmas. Service was ok a bit of a gap between starts and main course. In the main the staff were excellent although being told by our waiter that service charge was not a tip when the bill was presented was rude.

We had a fantastic meal here, the decorations were lovely, the food and service was 5 star! We were celebrating my sisters birthday and it was a memorable experience, we will 100 percent be back!

My husband took me to the West India Quay for my birthday. We had the Festive Afternoon Champagne Tea which was amazing. The atmosphere in this place is buzzing. Also, what made it special is how friendly and welcoming the staff were. Definitely going to make Browns my birthday tradition!

Great food and wonderful service.

The food was good but at the end of the meal we wanted to pay. The service was included in the bill which is fine and we split the bill. The Italian waiter then proceeded to ask each couple for an extra tip of 5,10 or 20 percent. Shameful greedy behaviour. We will never eat there again

Its my third time in London but first time i was hosted so well. Especially the tall waitress with dark hair, very profesional and friendly.

Excellent, we had our Xmas lunch here 17 Dec for 34. Our server was Nicole who looked after all of us on her own. All orders were taken and servings delivered without fuss. She had a great sense of humour and was always in control of things. The food and drinks were excellent especially for such a busy time. Will come back again.

I had Christmas dinner with colleagues at Browns (Canary Wharf branch) a few night ago. The dining chair were very uncomfortable and light and couldn’t bear the weight of coats/bags and fell off every time someone got off their chair. If such quality chairs are used, then a cloak room is needed! We had set menu and everyone had chosen their food beforehand. There was an excellent selection, encompassing vegetarian and pescatarian, as well. The food was ok/good. For me the best course was the starter: rocket, beetroot & grilled goat cheese salad with balsamic vinegar dressing. I was rather disappointed with my main: sea bass fillet with any potatoes and a dash of pesto. My fish was overcooked and dry. My dessert was nice: crumble with ginger ice cream. The ginger ice cream was divine. The service was efficient and patient. I imagine it’s not easy serving large parties. I think it’s a reasonable choice for a work outing.

Awful food, don't bother coming here, won't split the bill between more than 4 people!!! Go else where

Amazing food! Definitely recommend

Best place to send people you hate! Highly recommended if you’re not hungry and have hours to kill, as the food will take over an hour to arrive. Longer if it wasn’t completely dead like when we were there. If you’re tired of heating up your own frozen food, Browns is the place for you as they’ll do that for you! Make sure to order the truffle Parmesan fries, which almost tastes like it might have flavour. Don’t order anything too exotic, like a Guinness, they won’t have that. Make sure to follow up on your drinks or else they’ll think you were only joking. Send your least favourite relatives here on holiday, or maybe that annoying coworker you roll your eyes at. If coming yourself, you may find it more satisfying to burn some £20 notes and pick up a meal elsewhere.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was great, especially for a large group with various courses. Couldn’t fault anything.

Ok but neither the starter or the main course I would have like was available so felt like I was being sold whatever was left and it was only 7.30 in the evening

Went and asked for fish and chips, paid twenty pounds for it and got mushy salmon with peas and undersalted fries. My partner paid 33 dollars for a steak and it is underwhelming. Pretending to be a fancy restauraunt doesn't make you fancy you've got to have class and this restauraunt unfortunately just does not represent it through their food.

I have been going to browns for the past 5 years with large groups of people, spent loads of money and never had a problem We booked a table 4 months in advance for a friends birthday What an unpleasant experience we had We arrived at 4pm for drinks first then dinner for 7.30pm When we ordered drinks at the bar the barmaid was so rude !!! When we had drinks brought over to the table the barmaid ended up dropping them over 2 of our party without an apology Then at 7pm a member of staff came over to our table a threw down loudly a reserved sign and rudely said you must leave we explained that we had a table booked but she walked away, so we did complained and a member of staff politely came over and apologised saying he would seat us at the best table The table was in a good position but there was no tablecloth on the table, we had to ask for xmas crackers it was like we were an after thought even though we booked months ago The food well!!!!!! the roast potatoes were uncooked and so was the veg, the turkey was like leather so disappointing. After we had dinner we tried to order a round of drinks to be told that a member of our party looked like they had enough to drink and refused to serve us This is a complete joke as the person they were talking about was no way drunk we were a group of professionals in our sixties we didn't even leave our table there were large group of people in Browns that night enjoying their xmas party that were loud and so they should I am appalled that we were treated like this if we were drunk and rowdy i would understand but this was certainly not the case !!!!! This was all because we complained earlier !!!! We were set up by the bar staff Our whole night was ruined I will never bring my staff, friends or family to this place ever again
