We couldn't fault the quality of the food or the level of service we received. However, please take notice ALL you restaurant owners. These days there is just too little food on the plate ! If you expect people to pay £17 for a main course then at least have the deceny to put some vegetables on the plate! Vegetables are cheap so why are you not providing them? No excuses! I don't call one small serving of garden peas sufficient vegetables. I know things are tight but they are for us customers too so we have to be choosy now where we dine out. So if you expect a customer to be a repeat customer then don't insult us! I don't know if we'd go back here again, so that should tell the owners of this restaurant all they need to know! Think about it, do something about it or go bust!

Beautiful Friday evening 3 course meal. Menu choices were great - something for every taste, all freshly prepared on the premises. The beef, mushroom and bacon pie was superb, as was the cranberry Bakewell with homemade cranberry ripple ice cream. Lovely cosy restaurant too, and a wonderful selection of gins and cask beers. Will definitely be back.

As we have visited many times before, enjoying good quality food and service, it seemed the perfect place for my birthday meal on Saturday. The meal was ruined by an inexcusable failure to bring the dishes for our small party of four together. First, my starter, a basic salad, arrived several minutes after everyone else's starters. Then, somewhat unbelievably, my main course was also delayed arriving after everyone else's main course. The waitresses were completely blaise, and appeared to have zero understanding of how damaging this was to the whole party's experience. My son had come from Liverpool, my partner from Cheshire and it was such a disappointment for any meal, never mind a special occasion.

This is exactly what you'd hope for from a traditional village pub, good beer, great food and friendly service. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome to the moment we left (having probably slightly outstayed our welcome by chatting away with near empty glasses) at no point did we feel rushed, and will certainly be returning. The menu is varied offering fantastic value for money. As a table of four, we had four different mains, and three different deserts and all left happy. A job well done.

Awful experience. Staff are the rudest people I’ve ever met. Visited with my partner and another couple last month. The person who I assume is the landlady is a fine example of how not to talk to customers. Made us feel very unwelcome from the start. Poorly ran, would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. Like most hardworking Gastro pubs, The Inn on the Green has been supplying takeaway food during the various covid lockdown stages. They've always been known locally for having good quality, freshly prepared food - definitely a big step up from even the better pub chains.A friend recommended trying the Sunday Diner Roast for 4 which they cook for collection. Sounded too good to be true...... So I tried it today....A really top quality, restaurant standard beef joint that would feed 4 hungry people and leave lots for sandwiches.4 generous portions of perfectly cooked veg.Enough rosemary roast potatoes to feed 8.Yorkshire puddings that are of a size and mass that you just couldn't cook at home. They really are huge and delicious!Accompanied by a good amount of real gravy :)Added to that you get four puddings with either custard or homemade Ice cream. Trust me, after their roast dinner, eating the pudding is something to be contemplated for much later in the day.Remembering that this is a quality Gastro pub, with nothing cooked from frozen (they even grow some of their own ingredients), the whole roast dinner FOR FOUR costs..... £40.It was rightly highly recommended to me, and I highly recommend it to you, it was tasty and more than plenty. Thank you :)

A nice enough pub but very poor for vegetarian options. Always only one main meal suitable for vegans/vegetarians (which leaves no choice) and does not constitute as a substantial main meal, e.g. pea fritters with vegan ‘churros’, aubergine jam and pickled carrot. They do not even provide a vegetarian gravy for roast dinners.

They charged us double take away price. We obviously queried the bill and was told that it says on a menu that food eaten at table is full price. This wasn't shown to us at the time or explained. My family and I had wanted to try this place for a While, service was a little slow, starters came, nothing to shout about, husband had bubble and squeak, which was burnt. Mains came, three fish pie specials, and a child’s chicken nuggets and chips, the fish pie consisted of prawns, smoked haddock and leek, with a nice puff pastry lid, the haddock was burnt and you could smell it, it was black on both sides of the fish and at first I thought it was a mushroom with it being black, the taste went all through the pie so we just ate the pastry, I told the waitress who then went to tell the chef, after her return, she told us that the chef had shown her a piece of haddock from the fridge and that is how it comes, strange.... as I have never seen smoked haddock anywhere like that before and have never been served burnt haddock before, would definitely not return for food as it was not worth the money, worst meal we’ve had in a very long time, Save your money and go to the fox and hounds at Willingham by Stow, can’t beat it and it’s always always busy.

We each had a jug of gravy which she used to soften the bread. I'm sure the landlady would have given her another jug if she'd asked but we had plenty. We were really early, Elissa served us the drinks we requested ( I had Prosecco my husband a white wine which he asked if he could have a little taster of to make sure he liked it before buying a glass, this was no problem at all). We told Elissa we had a table booked but were an hour early she asked if we wanted to sit on the comfy sofas in the bar area or go to our table, we chose to sit in the bar area and enjoy pre dinner drinks. A little while later we were brought menus to look at, we both chose the Homemade salmon and chive fish cakes with sweet chilli jam starter but to have as a main with chunky chips and salad. Once our food was ready we were shown to our table. The food was perfect for what we wanted presented nicely too. Elissa came back to ask if everything was ok which it was. First of all the good points. This is a very pretty pub in a great location. The beer was well kept and the wine we ordered was very reasonably priced and delicious. The food was again reasonably priced and the service was good. We had 'dropped in' at this pub being recommended by my customer that we had just made a delivery to. We got there at the same time as a party of 7 people who were ordering drinks and they then went onto order meals. We ordered our beers which we were enjoying drinking when my husband went up to the bar to order our meals. We were surprised to hear we couldn't order before 7 pm. It was 5.45 pm at this time. We paid for our beers and said we would try somewhere else. The barmaid/ waitress came up to us as we almost finished our beers and said she had a cancellation so we could order a meal now. We both ordered the broth and pie for main. We ordered a bottle of wine to go with the pie which was duly opened and put on our table. After about 10 minutes, we were then told that there were no pies available so we would have to re-order. We were both disappointed but I ordered the scampi and chips which were very nice and my husband ordered the gourmet burger which he enjoyed. We were just surprised to be turned away at the beginning of our evening. The barmaid/waitress did seem under pressure and I think she was waiting for more staff to come on duty.

Ingham is my surname and I was doing some research on line when I came across the village of Ingham in North Lincolnshire. Fast forward a week or two to the recent bank holiday and I wanted to take my partner out for a day trip that included a pub lunch. We’ve done pretty much everywhere within a day trip of our home many times, so thought a trip to Ingham, only a 90 min drive or so, would fit the bill. I made a booking at the Inn on the Green, and when the landlord asked for my name he thought I was joking when I said Mr Ingham! We arrived at the village with enough time to spare to call it at the only other village pub, The Black Horse. This pub has a beautiful beer garden but we will have to go back to give this one a review. Onto the Inn on the Green then, a warm welcome awaited us and I was a bit of the talk of the bar with my surname. All the locals were very friendly and it was easy to engage in conversation. The landlord took our drinks order and invited us to sit in one of the very comfy leather sofas while we were brought the menus. I had a very nice pint of local pale ale (can’t remember the name) which was a well kept real ale, my partner had a glass of prosecco while we browsed the menu. I opted for the roast beef Sunday lunch and my partner went for Lincolnshire sausage with herb mash and red onion gravy. After a 10/15 minute wait in our comfy seats we were shown to our table. The food arrives a short time later, mine was 2 thick cut large slices of melt in the mouth roast beef, a Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes and gravy. My partner had a plate of 3 thick Lincolnshire sausages which were obviously butcher made as they were all meat and very little else, and nice portion of herbed mash, the plates were complimented by a bowl of roasted root veg and steamed cauliflower and broccoli. The dining room was very pleasant and we had a window seat. The pub is vey old and has retained all its character, all exposed stone and wood and is very comfortable. Onto the food, I really enjoyed my lunch, maybe a little too much mustard seed on the roast veg for my taste but it certainly gave them a different taste, Yorkshire pud could have been crispier but on the whole a good Sunday roast lunch. The sausage and mash were beautiful, nice meaty Lincolnshire sausage and creamy herb mash, my partner liking the mustard seed addition to the roasts. Excellent value for money, wonderful location right on the village green, great service, warm welcome, what more can I say. We walked off the food with a lazy wander around the village which is beautiful and then a trip back to Yorkshire but taking time to enjoy the wonderful North Lincolnshire countryside. We are already planning on a return for a weekend break and will be booking into the Inn on the Green again for evening meals.

With a choice of beef, pork or honey roast ham,i went for the ham and my wife decided on the pork. The plates arrived with the meat, roast potatoes and a huge yorkshire pudding on them,a side dish of veg and a gravy jug soon followed. The veg included roast onions, leeks, broccoli, carrots and cauliflower, plenty for the two of us.It was a lovely meal and beautifully cooked. The meat was gorgeous and the veg cooked exactly to our taste. We decided to share a sweet as we were both reaching our limit pretty fast. The white chocolate wasnt to my wifes taste but that was good news for me.Ho Ho Ho..A word about the beer...I plumped for the Doombar bitter, which was a cool pint with a nice creamy head,my wife tried a locally brewed bottle beer which got the thumbs up from her too.Altogether it was a good dining experience with wholesome food and tasty ales served by pleasant and attentive staff. As for the cost, probably a few pounds more than i would normally pay for a Sunday Roast, and the beer although good, was a little more than i usually pay too.Would that stop me returning if im in the area again?Absolutely not,it was good value for money....See you soon,

Gave it six(!) in the summer but today it turned out well below that standard. One main so poor it was knocked off bill ( rather it had been good but at least some acknowledgement) and four puddings returned for replacement, all done with a good grace. So worth a third try to decide good or poor!

I found this place when I was meeting a friend as she was on her way down the A1. After looking on trip adviser I saw a review that said 'don't go to the Black Bull, go here' (more or less). Now I've never been to the Black Bull but this place served a fantastic Sunday lunch. The decor is exactly what you'd except from a quintessential English pub in a village. Just great. Definitely give it a try

A well presented village pub / restaurant with most staff smiling and attentive. Decent crockery and proper linen. The menu was (imho) a little quirky - some unusual combinations of ingredients which I perceived as uncomplimentary. That said, we ordered the house beefburger and duck breast which were both excellent. I would comment the fries appeared commercial and were served lukewarm. A pity as I'd certainly recommend the burger. Onion rings were extra and came as a huge portion apparently home made, nice batter and piping hot.

Googled somewhere to eat north of Lincoln and this place popped up. About 10 minutes both of Lincoln quaint old building full of character and a delight. Friendly staff soon banished the preconception of a snobby country pub. Seated immediately and chose French Onion Soup and home made bread, came served on a slate- awesome. Lincolnshire sausage Baguette and bbq sauce with handmade French fries served on a board again awesome, sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch and salted caramel ice cream. Coffee and hand made chocolates. Please give yourself a treat. Don't miss out we can't wait to try the evening menu.

We were staying in the village and the Inn was just over the road - many other visitors recommended the food. We can add our endorsement and say that the staff were delightful in understanding the needs of our friend with Parkinson's. Two of us had a roast dinner - beef, very good. The other dishes were chicken korma and hunter's chicken - both generous and really good.

Came for a big family celebration at this delightful, traditional-style pub/restaurant. We pre-booked from the function menu (very reasonably priced for three courses). Food was fantastic across all three courses: beautifully presented, superb taste, and generously portioned. Despite being a big party, the food came fresh and hot from the kitchen with excellent service. If normal restaurant service and food is as good then we would definitely come again when in the neighbourhood. Close to Lincoln (15-20 minute drive?) and worth a trip out if staying there.

We visited on Saturday evening, arriving about 630pm. Empty except 2 people sat at the bar, two waitresses & landlord behind the bar. Lots of tables reserved, lots not set, have you a table for 2 we asked, have you booked he asked, no we said, no then he said, looking at his notepad. No apology, nothing, so we left, this is the second time this has happened here, first time was a Sunday, only that time they did eventually seat us after lots of huffing, even though the place was half empty. Food wasn't bad but wasn't memorable, we only returned as we were travelling back home and it was a slight detour and we didn't want to go into Lincoln, we won't bother again, obviously relies on locals & regulars and are just rude to outsiders! Is now advertising a new evening menu, think it would be advisable to say bookings only on it and on the signs outside.

The place appeared very inviting and looked lovely inside, however, I do not rate the service. Both food and drinks are extortionate and you would think that when you are paying a lot for each little thing you would at least get met with good manners. The staff came over very abrupt and as though they felt displeasure in serving me just because I am not a regular. I may not have been a regular customer or a local, but I was a customer and I would have thought that regular or not, every penny counted to them.

We have visited this pub on several occasions, both as a couple and with family, and it rarely disappoints. We love the frequent changes of menu to match seasonal produce and the innovative dishes. It would be useful though, if this could be put on the website. The presentation is very good. The baked cod with chickpea was a favourite. Definitely an enjoyable dining experience which we would recommend, just don't take the last table!

We actually moved to ingham because it has such a lovely feel compared to some other villages in lincoln and this pub truly is the heart of it. The food is faultless, even on price. I would highly recommend going for Sunday lunch! We love going as a family to play cards and have drinks on a Sunday but similarly it has a wonderful atmosphere on Friday and Saturday if you want to go for evening drinks with a group of friends. The staff are so friendly and helpful! We love it.

We visited on "Bake Off Final" night, and the place was still pleasantly full with a buzz. There is a good range of beer, and it was an excellent pint. The menu is short enough to give you confidence that it is all homemade well, with a wide enough range of courses to satisfy all but the most picky of eaters. The service was very good - you sit with your drinks while looking through the menu, and our order was taken promptly. The food is "local". That is an English theme with contemporary touches. There is a pie of the day (it was Rabbit on our visit) and a choice of fresh soups. I love a starter, but the desserts were tempting, so I chose the breast of duck, with the leg made into spring rolls. This was from the specials. We also had the cod loin. The duck was excellent. It was medium (I can take rare!) but had wonderful flavour. The spring rolls were well seasoned and still "ducky" through the sauce. The sweet and sour onions were not what you think - i wont spoil it, but they were delicious. The cod loin was generously sized, and cooked really well. It was on chickpeas and (I think) a butternut sauce. I didn't get to try it! Both dishes were served with al dente vegetables. Portion size was spot on.The dessert list was great. All looked homemade and were not your usual run of the mill offering. We had the hot and cold cappuccino, and the panna cotta. They were brilliant. They obviously have someone with a real flair for sweet treats which seems such a rarity now. Service throughout was perfect - attentive without being intrusive, and not rushed or flustered.Prices were very good for the quality of the meal. The mains were about £15 each (they ranged from £10ish to £16ish), and the desserts were £5.50 each. We'd be back much more regularly if it was closer!

this is a poor advertisement for Lincolnshire pubs which are normally welcoming and hearty ... This is not, the landlord was completely disinterested, more than happy to talk to his mates at the bar than serve us..Choice is extremely limited and he offered us no children's options..We sat at a table in the "dining area" plastic topped no different than the other tables , it was sticky and unwiped, the food eventually arrived it was uninviting and basic... there are so much better pubs in the area and a complete contrast to the service and food we received in The Dambuster 10 minutes away in Scampton

We decided to try this country pub again after coming here as a young couple 25 years ago, we have happy memories of eating here. I'm afraid it didn't live up to our expectations this time, service slow but I think that's because everything is cooked fresh when Ordered, what we ordered looked nice on the plate but nothing tasted great needed more seasoning and flavour. We both ordered a pudding which sounded really nice but my carrot cake (deconstructed) was the worst pudding I've ever had! I'm sure puddings are meant to be sweet arn't they ? Sorry to give such a poor review but I felt very disappointed.

Mediocre food at best, poorly seasoned & having ordered at 8:05, meals didn't arrive until 9:00. The waitress explained the delay as being due to new potatoes not being ready- ridiculous as they take minutes! She did offer us a complimentary drink to compensate for the delay . When the problematic potatoes did arrive they too were unseasoned, no butter, salt or pepper. My husband had fish & his chips tasted like oven chips , his peas were wet in a little dish, again no seasoning. The desert was sticky toffee pudding, it tasted burnt & I couldn't eat it. The restaurant was very quiet, just us and another couple so you couldn't even explain this as being due to them being rushed off their feet! Such a shame as this place was recommended to us & the reviews on trip adviser are good .

We booked a table for Friday evening at 7.30 expecting it to be busy, but we would probably have gotten in anyway. We chose from the specials board and were delighted by the standard of the food in terms of taste and presentation. I had the pork belly and black pudding. The pork was perfectly cooked and melted in the mouth and the black pudding was moist and very tasty. My wife had the salmon, which she really enjoyed. We finished with the cheeseboard, which was ample and nicely varied. The atmosphere was pleasant and quiet and the staff efficient and friendly. Being used to Southern UK prices I was also pleasantly surprised by the price.Highly recommended.

There was a large group of us but the pub was happy to take the booking. They thought carefully about seating and made us feel very welcome. The menu is not extensive as it is all home cooked. However, there is a good range of things so that there is something that appeals to everyone. We went on a Sunday and the menu offered very good deals for 2 or 3 course meals. Portion sizes were good so that it meant we all had plenty of room for 2 courses. Staff wre very helpful and carefully checked all dietry requirements. We will certainly visit here again.

We have visited twice in the past few months, once for the Valentine's Day set menu and more recently for my birthday. We had a bad experience here years ago when it was under different management so were a bit wary of revisiting but I can honestly say that we shouldn't have been. The food is superb and the service is very good. The spacing of bookings for the Valentine's menu meant that although the room was full by the end of the night, everybody was being attended to and there weren't long gaps between courses. When we went for my birthday there weren't many people in but the food was very impressive and we were both stuffed after a starter and main. We'll definitely be going back and we've already told friends and family how good it is.
