The Lincolnshire Otter in West Lindsey

There was 12 of us in the party I ordered the cowboy burger hoping that I know marstons aren’t that good on food it was black burnt and tasted like rubber. The bun was burnt too had a bite and took it back 2 others ordered this and said theirs was burnt. I went home hungry as did to want to wait another 20 to 40 min Def won’t go again did have money back but didnt Offer another meal. The starters and the sharers are t that bad but this marstons I’ll give it a miss next time

My husband regularly takes me up the otter 😂. The foods great and the staff are Friendly 😂

Both had burger deal selected a 'Ultimate Southern-Fried Chicken Burger. Poor to say the least hard flavourless and bland will not be returning to this establishment

We met my daughter and her hubby here on Monday March 10th. It was very quiet - so there was only one chap on duty. He was 5*. We had a very good meal, and enjoyed the ability of being able to chat without fighting the background noise. If you are passing through Gainsborough and need a break GO HERE!

We booked a table of 12 for my dad’s 60th birthday, it turned out there was 13 of us but that wasn’t an issue at all. I handed the girls behind the bar a cake and they were more than happy to keep it in the kitchen for me. The table was set up exactly where I’d asked for and it was also set up with high chairs, children’s cutlery and colouring activities for our toddlers. We all ended up ordering separately but all the food came out at the same time, lovely and hot. The staff appeared to be very busy but nothing was too much trouble. When we finished our meals they cleared the table and brought the cake out, lit with our candles, and a stack of plates and cutlery. The bar staff and kitchen staff that were on are a credit to your company. Thankyou for making it a lovely experience.

Came up with son and daughter, it was busier than usual, we were greeted and directed to a free table by the very friendly staff. The food was outstanding my kids loved it. I ordered the ribs and chicken combo; used to have ribs on menu before a few years ago but these were much better. Will definitely be returning some time in next month as a bar staff mentioned a Paddington bear themed menu they are going to be doing.

Came to otter with friends and the service we got was outstanding, the food was quick and enjoyed every bit of it no complaints what so ever when ordered. All staff was polite and gave a warm welcome when we arrived, I would recommend anyone to go to the lincolnshire otter as its probably the best pub in town.

Visit here most weekends and we love it! Can not say a bad word about Lincolnshire Otter if I'm honest. Lovely staff & lovely food thank you for having us 😀

Staff were friendly and polite, the food was not bad for the price the mains were pleasant enough but the puddings weren’t great. Asked for a warm chocolate fudge cake and it was cold and the sauce was weirdly minty, the children’s donuts were really doughy and the sauce tasted like chemicals. Also as a family with a little one the Under 5’s indoor area is terrible! Most of the stuff is broken or out of order, there’s 2 screens that keep a child entertained for a few minutes if that and that’s about it. The outside area is better but if your going in the evening when it’s dark the indoor area is not enough, please make this more child friendly.

Staff are really friendly and the food and drink is spot on except portion sizes could be slightly bigger.

Food is OK, but the portion size seems to have shrunk. My wife had the pepperoni pizza it used to be a 12-inch. Now it's gone down to a 9-inch, but the price remains the same. Could do with some investment on the tables and chairs as they are all looking worn out and grubby.

We had a wonderful evening at the Lincolnshire Otter. The staff are helpful, friendly and just the right level of attentive. As soon as we sat down with our dog a member of staff came across with a bowl of water for her. There are good quality doggy treats available on the bar which is also appreciated. The food was delicious, as always, and I was particularly impressed by the new ultimate spicy burger. The atmosphere is always pleasant and friendly.

Great Place - peaceful Relaxing atmosphere - foods Good - Drinks good - people are Friendly, a nice Quite place . . has a pool table / fruit machines - kids play area - plus outdoor seating umbrella's etc / music outside aswell - more choice on the desert side would help . . apart from that a Great place

First time eating in a pub for a Christmas meal. Although it is a pub, it really did not have that feel to it. Made to feel very comfy and welcomed! My 8 year old son ate all of his main and loved it! And he's actually a fussy eater, believe it or not. Would recommend 👌🏾 👍🏽 👏 😌

Came on Friday lunchtime to meet some business colleagues. The food was fantastic and the service great. Although I did feel for the lady working as she seemed to be on her own, this being said she never stopped. Constantly between the bar and taking food out. She came and asked if all was ok and offered us deserts which we declined because the portions are big and we were full up.

I normally enjoy coming to the otter, but I was quite disappointed when me and my wife turned up this time she gave feedback around the pie she had the pastry was hard. The lady who collected the pots walked off. And did not even come back or apologise. Very poor customer service.

Had a lovely lunch today Katie was really chatty and we were made to feel really welcome. Great place to get together for friends and family. We ordered all our food separately but they made sure it all came out together. I had steak and it was cooked just right. Nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely be back.

3 doses of food poisoning out of three of us eating there. What more can I say. Give this place a wide berth. Chicken wings microwaved from raw with sauce chucked over them, dirty crocs and eating irons, dirty tables. The toilets stank. Our mistake was not turning around and leaving without ordering. When it first opened a decade or so back there was a manager who walked the floors continually. He picked up on anything that was not as it should be, checked everything that left the kitchen and kept it all in good order. He lasted a few months then left and it’s been in a downward spiral since.

We had a table booked for 4.30pm for a family of 7. When we arrived the cutlery had been thrown on the table carelessly and the table was dirty. I tried to get a high chair for my 8 month old but they were all absolutely filthy. I tried to wipe it down the best I could and the wipe was black with dirt so I decided to keep my daughter on my knee instead. Just as our meals arrived my 8 month old grabbed hold of a glass of drink and pulled it over. I was moving her out of the way of the hot food that gas been put right in arms reach of her and instead she grabbed a glass. This meant there was almost a full pint of bitter all over our table. We tried to clean this up with our napkins but of course didn’t have enough. Despite this happening in front of a server, not a single staff member came to help us. We asked for a cloth to clean the table and was given a dish towel. The table was of course still sticky so my mother in law went to find a staff member to ask for a cloth. The staff member returned with a few napkins. My mother in law told him that she needed a cloth and some spray because the table was stick from the beer. The server was incredibly rude and responded with “I’ll go get some. You’re not allowed to just walk in the kitchen like that by the way”. This is of course true but there wasn’t a staff member to be found and our meals were going cold so we had little choice but to do this to find someone. Another staff member came over with the spray and my mother in law apologised for going to the kitchen but stated that there were no staff members to be found. The young girl responded with “yeah there’s only two staff members working, that’s managements fault”. Several of us had a turkey roast which was pretty terrible. The meat was dry and certainly not breast as stated and the roast potatoes were over cooked, as was the Yorkshire pudding which just crunched to bits. I had the lasagne and I can whole heartedly say I have had better microwave lasagne from Tesco. After we had finished we had to put our plates on another table as nobody came to clear them away and we wanted to order puddings. Several of us had chocolate fudge cake with ice cream and I had custard with mine. The custard I was given was no more than a tablespoon and did not even cover the surface of my cake. The ice cream scoops were also tiny and not a good ratio to cake at all. The server that had snapped at my mother in law about going to the kitchen was dressed in a black Nike jumper and a pair of blue jeans. If looking for a staff member you would assume he was a customer rather than a server. His work attire was as unprofessional as his customer service. Not a single one of us could rate our meals any higher than a 5 and the disgusting service or more lack of made it a really awful experience. We have had a bad experience here in the past and this was our first time returning since. We decided to give the place the benefit of the doubt and make use of the 30% off mains deal currently running. Needless to say not a single one of us will be returning in the future. With the price of a single roast dinner I could have made a much better roast at home and fed us all. I am deeply dissatisfied with all aspects of the visit. Please have a look at this establishment and get some better staff or at least give them a lesson in customer service because I have worked in the industry for 8 years and would be deeply ashamed of myself if I provided service that poor. The place is going further and further downhill and soon enough it will lose all custom.

Greeted by Katie, Manageress, who took us to our Pre booked table. Birthday party and the atmosphere was quite good. A very pleasant person came to serve our party. We all had different meals, and all enjoyed them. Thank you for a good time. Only one thing it was a very hot day and could have done with some Aircon, but we managed. I have over 150,000 looked at my truthful reviews.

Very busy and not enough bar staff who were working extremely hard. We were told it was a 45 minute wait for food, but it arrived after 30 which was a pleasant surprise

I was warmly welcomed on arrival and shown to my table, which had a sweet personalised note. As soon as the staff saw that we had dogs with us, they brought water and a small bowl with dog treats. We had a question about our order and the staff were extremely helpful. Our food was delicious and the service was great. We really enjoyed the meal and the welcome our dogs received. A lovely evening and we will return.

Two of us ordered steaks. Sirloin wasn't available so we settled for rump. Admittedly we asked for it well done, however I have never had meat as tough. It was so tough we could barely cut it let alone chew it and we left it. Absolutely dreadful! Informed a staff member who said she'd pass it on. So won't be returning

The staff were amazing. There was an issue with the card machines. The two ladies made sure we got our meal whilst the issue was being addressed. Food was great as always. Will definitely be recommending to our friends and family.

I have always had good meals here with great service too. For a chained restaurant I have always found the experience pleasant, the only reason I haven’t given it 5 stars is due to them removing their specials boards which they had up when they first opened, these were great please bring it back.

Awfully Walked in no immediate tables due to the quiz on . Was the choice of 4 tables that wasn't reserves . 3 I couldn't use as they were bar stools ( so not a disabled friendly welcome to start with) Attempted to use the order app - pointless . Went to the bar orderd the food . Told them twice how I wanted the steak . I orderd fries ( got chips ) . Sat at table waiting . Went to open the sauce bottle as the safety seal was still on it eventually came off whilst covering me in sauce now staining my tshirt wich has had to go in the bin!! . Food arrived as were sat in the child's area because nowhere else to sit ! . Onion rings cold Steak chewy I actually thought what I don't eat il save for the dog when I orderd it . Well not a chance would he be having any I left it all on the plate absolutely disgusting . Partners pizza ... well it arrived most mushroom pizza the mushroom are sliced... nope not here so you get full size mushrooms just stood to attention on the pizza like they are waiting for a drill Sargent to arrive . The pizza iv had thin pizza base , but jesus it wasn't even the thickness of a bit of paper . As we went to leave a couple arrived and said ohh we've come to try it after the last manager upset us . The girl on the bar said its a new manager .... as I left I told the couple don't waste ypur time look behind you you will see our plates . Worst food we have ever had . When leaving .. no thankyou goodbye from staff like they're used to be . Walling to my car I see a kitchen person stood in his kitchen uniform at the bin shed !!! Vaping and with a tea towel slung over his shoulder ! ... I'm sure environmental health would love that !!!!! Didn't asl for a refund as was never asked how it was and we thiight they clearly need the money as the staff need some training. Used to be nice place to go and service was good as well customer service is poor its if like there not bothered if you come or not. Such a shame Food was poor as well pizza tasted like a cheese toasty and stake was chewy left with the plated still full and they didn't even notice

I booked a birthday meal for for my sister for 13 of us hesistantly after a few friends said its not very good at yours but I like to make my own decisions AND WELL!! Everyone of us left very happy indeed ( Only I was gutted at the price of a pint of lager lol ) but I did enjoy it overall and esp with my Blue Light Discount that made it better cos I bought desserts with the extra savings I made. Our Server Molly was very polite, amazing and very attentive to my nephews needs ( he has autism and so when he was asking for certain things she accomodated his every wish!! Then Leah & Katie was just as polite & cheerful serving our drinks and that made the day so much more relaxed & friendly!! Esp when Katie proved her knowledge of Marstons Rules on drinking ( one of the party was 17 and wanted an alcoholic drink with his meal but was told although it is would be legal, your policy doesnt allow it and so he could not have one and to which he agreed with. Loved the games of pool I had with my family members ( but you need some cue bridges and cross support cues ) cos Im a short guy and had to reach hard for some shots lmao!! But overall the day was fantastic and I am glad we went to yours your staff & venue was brilliant and a credit to you. Thankyou Stephen

Food is great, especially for the price. Plenty of option - the burgers are great. Service can be a little slow but again, for the price you pay its good. Biggest downside for me is that I've been twice, and both times the tables have been ridiculously sticky. So much so that a leather handbag can be heard peeling off it when picked up.

The ultimate southern fried chicken burger and cowboy burger was absolutely fantastic!!! Couldn't eat it all, portion sizes definitely nothing to grumble about. Burgers cooked to perfection. Everything on the plate was great

Good place all the staff I’ve met are really nice. I’m Working local and been here for dinner about 6 times in 2 weeks, everything I’ve had has been perfect.

Second visit in short while and we were not disappointed. Atmosphere was calm and comfortable bright and cheerful. Food and service was excellent the only downside being that my first choice of beer was not available for the second time.

I ordered the spicy burger and found the ingrediant meant to add spic was located in a corner of my burger, which in itself was undercooked. The fries that accompanied were the consistency of match sticks and I would have sworn they were tescos economy range, or worse. Lovely place and people, but i wouldnt bring the family there again to eat.

Plenty of spaces to park. When we visited it wasn't busy but we booked for a table in advance to let them know that we have our dog with us. Food was good and served hot, service was fast, staff were friendly and approachable. I asked for bits of chicken for my dog and they gave us a good amount of it, so kind. Highly recommended especially to those who have dogs.

The gammon here is exquisite and the pool table brings a lot of life. The staff are so welcoming especially ciaris.

The starters were not as described, items missing and not very nice. The main meals, again, items missing from the food, the gammon steak was more than 50% fat (have photos), the bacon on the hunters chicken was more fat than meat (again have photos). The food was awful, the service i.e. clearing starter plates etc didn't happen, we had to move them to another table when the mains we ordered arrived. We will not be visiting again.

We haven’t been here for a few years, following a disappointing meal. We thought we would give it another go and we had a 30% discount voucher. We visited tonight with our family. Four adults and four children. Our table was booked for 6:30pm. It wasn’t ready at 6:20, but soon sorted. No cutlery or napkins on the table. I had to go and get them myself. We ordered our food at 6:40and it didn’t arrive until 7:30. The adult meals were brought out before the children’s which, I think, is totally unacceptable. The portions were meagre. The mixed grill was absolutely nothing like the photo on the menu or the wall. All in all it was an extremely disappointing experience and meal. We will not be returning.

Must be a world record, 53 minute wait for our meal, staff didn't update us as to why the delay. Not good. On the bright side chips we'll cooked, last time underdone, and scampi delicious. My Guiness was served chilled, maybe too cold, but is subject to taste.

Had a great evening at the Lincolnshire Otter. Great service from all the staff. Everything very clean, great food and drinks were spot on. Played some pool.

Had a long wait for desserts but was compensated with two free soft drinks for the kids. Food was lovely just a shame about the 30min wait for sundaes.

We stopped here along the way to Skegness from Doncaster. The day before, I reserved a table for five (2 adults and 3 children) and received a 30% off main meals voucher for booking online. Parking was a breeze and there were only two other patrons in when we arrived a little after midday. The menu was good - plenty to choose from. We ordered fish finger, cheeseburger, and bbq chicken burger meals for the kids and my husband and I had the ultimate spicy beef burger and the ultimate southern fried chicken burger, respectively. The quality was great and portion sizes generous but manageable - we didn't have dessert this time. Also worth mentioning that they sell Fruit Shoots for the kids; not all places do! Staff were friendly and helpful - double checking our order when we almost inadvertently ordered a vegan chicken burger. I also appreciated that the didn't come over after five minutes to "check everything is OK" (I hate that!) We were hoping for a little play area for the children to run off some steam in but didn't see one (however we didn't ask). There was a little "under fives" area by the toilets which had books, a doll house, and some touch screen games. Also a small playground outside which we didn't go to as it was raining. I think this will be our lunch stop everytime we make this journey, now!

Impromptu trip out for tea with the hubby and teenage kids .... lovely friendly atmosphere. We all enjoyed our food and wasn't waiting long after ordering. Staff were very friendly and nothing was a hassle for the staff member bringing our food out. Bar staff (Megan) was friendly and even though she was serving someone else she still acknowledge that we were waiting. Will definitely be going back again.

Went for a Sunday meal, was a last minute plan and was amazing. Was served quick from a lovely young lady behind the bar. The food came really quick and was amazing. My mum and dad thoroughly enjoyed it as it was there first time coming to Gainsborough and first time going there. Highly recommend😊

Firstly let me say the staff were lovely. I thought I would give this place another chance as the last visit was just over a year ago with our family and I found the food at that time, not that good, so I never visited again. But it's fairly local, so I thought I'd give it another chance as family were visiting from Manchester as it was our grand daughters birthday. Kids' meals were good, my daughters burger was good, she said. My mac and cheese was very bland, but the shredded meat topping was lovely. NOW the mens pies, if you liked dry tough pastry as opposed to puff pastry, would be OK. More pastry than filling. The place is nice if you just want to drink and not eat. But I honestly won't be bringing my family back due to the cost of the meal to what the meal actually tasted like, I don't mind paying whatever if the food was worth it.

I live right near here but never use to go but over the past year or so starting to go alot more sometimes for food sometimes just for a couple of drinks but we absolutely love it in here. The food is lovely and average price all the staff so friendly and welcoming and so welcoming to our 2 dogs too they go above and beyond to make sure our dogs have fresh cold water and treats. We love popping over with the dogs sitting in the beer garden and enjoying a couple of drinks. Highly recommend this place 👌
