We have eaten here on several occasions and always enjoyed everything about our visit. However, after today's visit we definitely won't be going to the Hyndburn Bridge again. We'd booked a table for 5 the day before. On arrival we were told we were in the bar area. This was very busy as football was on so we asked if we could move and were told if a table came free we could. Always good to see a pub so busy but it wasn't what we wanted for a long awaited family meal. We weren't offered another table even though there was one set for 5 sitting empty the whole time we were there. We were told it was reserved! The food was was very disappointing and one meal inedible. The staff were very inexperienced and unable to handle our situation and the management were extremely rude.

Have to disagree with some of the negative reviews. This was our first visit and will definitely be back. The food was lovely and good quality. Especially the chicken goujons which you could tell were fresh and homemade. The service was brilliant. The staff were rushed off their feet but always happy to help and checked in with us multiple times. Prices reasonable too and a nice place.

Most definitely the worst meal I’ve “eaten” to date. For starters we got a sharing platter of chicken wings and goujons, wings were dry, bland and full of grease. Dough balls with garlic butter were most likely cooked from frozen as they were tasteless and the butter dip looked microwaved with no thought going into making. My partner got fish and chips. Fish was grey, greasy and inedible. Lastly I ordered the rump steak medium rare, looked like it had just been cut and dumped on my plate. Absolutely vile and the outside that I did try and eat has given me the worst stomach I’ve had in my life. I do not recommend this place. STEER CLEAR and spend your money elsewhere.

I have nothing nice to say about this place except the servers were friendly. For starters we got a sharing platter and I have never seen drier wings in my life. The mains were no better. I got fish and chips and the fish had the same consistency as a chewy drumstick. My partner got a steak, the meat was purely fat, there was no meat on it whatsoever. Safe to say we will never be returning and would absolutely not recommend to anybody.

Having previously had some lovely meals at this restaurant I thought I would take advantage of the "Eat out to help out" scheme. I have to say that I was very disappointed. We arrived at 4:45 for a 5pm booking. The restaurant was fairly quiet but considering that there were so many staff we waited 20 minutes for a drink order to be taken and we ordered our meal at the same time. We waited a further half an hour for our food. My friend ordered the cheese pie which was clearly just microwaved and my butterfly chicken was completely dry with no taste at all. We both left half of our meals but were not asked if everything was ok. When I requested the bill we waited a further 15 minutes for this, even though there was plenty of staff and it really wasnt busy. Im just thankful that the £40 bill was only charged at £20 due to the offer on. I'm sorry but I wont be recommending this restaurant again as I previously have.

Always a good fair priced pub meal. We had stake and ale pie an the t bone steak this time. Steak was amazing and very good value - cooked to perfection. Pie was equally as good and the veg - perfectly cooked. This place never fails (apart from the time when they put undercooked onions in the fish pie!) But that's another story!

Below is an email I sent to the Hyndburn following a visit a while ago. I thought I'd send an email directly to them rather than post online to give them a chance to respond. However, since a response hasn;t been forthcoming......---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------So.... Back in August my family came to the Hyndburn for a meal to celebrate my dad’s 80th. It was the first time I’d been in the pub since my grandma’s funeral wake back in 2001 (I like over near Ilkley now). We were all very impressed. The staff were attentive, fun and generally couldn’t do enough. The food was good and came pretty quickly. It’s my twin children’s birthday tomorrow (11th) and my daughter specifically requested that we went to the same place we’d been for my dad’s birthday. I booked at the beginning of last week – 6 guests at 6:30 since in theory you stop serving food at 7 and, not that I expected anything particularly special told the person who took the booking that we were coming for my children’s birthday – more because the staff had made my dad feel like it was a bit of an occasion when we’d been for his birthday. Yesterday (Saturday) I called to amend the booking to be for 7 people since my partner from Ilkley could now make it. The girl who I spoke to found the booking and said she’d amend it.We arrived tonight at 6:25 to find that our reserved table was set only for 6 people not 7, so we had to be relocated. We were then informed that there would be a 10 minute wait before they took our order – which didn’t bode well. I reality it was more like 20 minutes before the order was taken. After another half hour we were informed that you’d run out of chips! Given that 4 of us were having chips that was a sizeable portion of us that had to decide on fries or sweet potato chips. For each person that gave their choice, the girl asking the question didn’t know what meal that was going with – so she might have known I was having fries, but didn’t actually know what meal I as having for example – nor did she ask or make a note. It was pot luck what we got. Given we really enjoyed the chips last time it was a disappointment to be left with the options we were – I’m not entirely sure how a restaurant can run out of a staple such as chips no matter how busy they are. An hour after we’d first been seated I went to chase up the food – it was apparently being plated – but still didn’t appear for another 10 minutes – an hour and 10 minutes after being seated!! My partner having had to rush to get across in time for 6:30 made it all the more annoying. The food itself was OK – though the steak in the steak and ale pie was tough in part (my aunt had real trouble getting through hers) (very good taste however) and the lasagne and cheese and onion pie while tasty seemed as though it had been under the “warmer” for an elongated period in that the tops were quite dry and overcooked.I fail to see how, when you know a booking is coming in at a particular time you can make them wait for so long – for a party that walks in off the street then fine if you’re busy, but you surely know that by 6:45 there are going to be 7 orders coming to the kitchen so you plan accordingly.Add to that the apparent disinterest of the waitresses – we weren’t told there would be any delay with the food (just the 10 minute delay to order), we weren’t visited at all to ask if we wanted more drinks, given the time taken to server the meal, we were only given a very quick “is the food OK” to one end of the table once we were eating and, once finished we were just left with the plates and glasses on the table – no-one came to clear up, ask if we wanted dessert or coffees. No-one came near so we could ask for the bill. In the end I had to go to the bar to ask for it and settle up. (And the twins certainly weren’t made to feel like it was a special occasion by the staff),Given our previous experience was so good, tonight was very disappointing indeed. We all said that we wouldn’t be rushing back after that experience which is a shame because the pub is a nice place to come to for a meal out.I hope you’ll appreciate the fact that I’ve expressed the disappointment directly to yourselves rather than the much more public approach of TripAdvisor, Facebook or Twitter – I think it’s more appropriate to give yourselves the feedback that trashing a reputation for the sake of it.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I'll let people make their own minds up.John

Oh dear, the meal wasn't as good as last year, both on Christmas Eve. The steak pie had too much meat given the amount of gravy and the majoirty of the meat was partially burned. The nachos were drowned in cheese as was the vegetable lasagne. I always thought of the Hyndburn as a reliable pub, maybe there's a new chef...?Although the one meal ordered from the special menu was good I think we will find somewhere else to go next year.

we Visited the restaurant and ordered the fish pie , not sure if this was out of date as the only way I could explain it was sweet taste , as I eat out at many restaurants and never tasted anything like this before , after mentioning this to the staff and chef the only explanation was maybe because we have changed our fish supplier , I didn’t eat it but no compensation given , unfortunately we won’t be going back .

Party of 20. Nobody liked the homemade pate. Tasteless and small portion. Crab cakes small. Chicken tagliatelle was poor with overcooked stodgy pasta. I ended up eating the pasta for my wife and left half a pizza to take home. Nipped outside for a vape came back in and pizza had been cleared away and thrown. Staff didn't even ask if it was finished or not. Been a couple of times before but only as a couple. If they can't cope with a party of 20 then don't accept a party of 20. Our last visit

It was a busy place and you expect that things could go wrong occasionally but my friend found a long hair in her steak pie. We made them aware of it and my friend, didn't really want anything else due to being put off by the hair but opted for some chips to peck on while we was eating our meals. They didn't charge her for the main course but they were cheeky enough to charge her for the chips which she only had to stop it feeling awkward whilst we were still eating. What makes it worse is that you can see the pure is hone made and served in a small dish with a pastry just dropped on the top. This is obviously made in one big pan and then laddled into the dishes which meant that my meal was also contaminated by the hair but me being a pig and a hungry one at that still ate it.

I have eaten on 2 previous times having the steak offer at the Hyndburn Bridge and each time I was totally impressed by the meal. Tonight the two medium rare steaks we had were cold. On the replacement of the dishes the steak rump cuts were tough and very inedible. Service was fantastic hubby had parsnip ginger and apple soup I had creamy garlic mushrooms then he had t bone steak and I had steak and ale pie. Both cake with chips and veg the chips were some of the best I’ve had and the veg was fresh none of the frozen rubbish you get elsewhere we also had a coke each plus a coffee and the bill was £50 bit pricey for a midweek lunch but worth every penny and we will be back. Called in Saturday 6.00pm after day out. This is our usual go to for a consistent decent meal. Seated quickly, but then seemingly forgotten about for some while to order food. I ordered risotto with asparagus & beans. Minute portion, was like slush rice pudding, couple of small sliced asparagus & virtually no beans. Famished after full day it & finished in around half a dozen mouthfuls.Apparantly asked & told new chef started that week.May be OK with burgers, fries & easy dishes, but his skills fell short on the risotto. Wife's meal okay, but was plain chicken.Very poor & disappointing for money.Made worse because we passed the Knowles Arms, our favourite in order to go Hyndburn nearer home.May be some time now I will part with my money there again,& probably go to the Park where the food is superior.

Went for my dads birthday at the last minute. Only three of us. I have been before and always thought the place was good. We have not been since it first opened, so i was interested to see what's it like now.I had heard from a friend however, who was a regular that the place had gone downhill in quality recently. When we arrived it was reasonably busy but there were tables free which were never filled whilst we were there. In spite of this we were stood at the bar waiting for five minutes with nobody explaining why. We got seated and were handed just 2 menus?.. We ended up being seated on a table next to where staff members were taking their breaks. Now I have no issue with people taking breaks as they deserve them but it was like a social club. Staff stood around gossiping, not working, on their phones. We had to ask 3 times to get our order taken. Our order was taken and then 5 minutes later a bored young lady come up to table and stated they had run out of pancakes. She looked annoyed at us like we were an inconvenience in her busy day. She went away not taking our new order and 10 minutes later I managed again to get her attention and finally put the order in. Then the wrong meals for another table arrived. When we finally got our food the lad serving it just put it on the table and walked off. I then had to ask him if we could have some cutlery to eat with, he just shrugged and then dropped some on the table in a pile. I had to again stop him and ask for some service. It was then a 5 minute wait for sauces, no check up on how the food was or basics like that. After the meal itself which was actually good, I asked for the bill.....and waited....and waited till eventually I managed to disturb one of the staff again causing them to looking up from a conversation with another member of staff.

Very friendly and professional service and staff. Food is great and prices agreeable. Today we had four starters to share instead of a main meal, it was very tasty. It never dissapoints but a word of warning it can be busy at certain times so you may have to wait for your food a little while.

Came down for a drink one evening - weather was great - sat outside - could see all the other tables having their food brought out and it looked and smelt great. So decided to have a bite to eat - we choose the meat sharing platter with a side of onion rings. Both were excellent - staff and service good too.

We went to the Hyndburn this evening for a birthday celebration and I have to say that we were disappointed. We arrived before six o'clock when it was very quiet and placed our drinks orders whilst we looked at the menus. Our order was taken with seven starters (four to be served as main courses for two of the party) together with three main courses. There was a mistake up with the starters and only two were served instead of three, which whilst rectified, this took some time to resolve. The main problem though arose with the main courses which took so long to arrive that we had to ask what had happened ( we were concerned as we had a two year old with us) and were told that it would be a further two to three minutes, which turned out to be closer to ten minutes in the end. Most of the food was fine, but the fish and chips, which two if us ordered were underwhelming to say the least! Overall a very poor showing on the part of the Hyndburn, poor service and food that was not the best. As regular visitors to this establishment, I feel that there is need to post this review on your site.

we visited the Hyndburn on a Tuesday night - the atmosphere was great. Granted the England match was on, so that helped BUT despite being very busy the service was excellent. the staff were very welcoming and friendly and looked after us really well, drinks arrived quickly and our order was taken quickly. the food was really nice and the staff kept us topped up with drinks throughout. prices were really reasonable too. would definitely go back for another meal

Just visited the hyndburn bridge restaurant and bar for lunch to celebrate our wedding anniversary , the staff here are very pleasant, helpful and professional in their roles as front line staff . very comfortable surroundings and all areas pleasantly clean. My wife ordered the chicken breast and I went for the steak and ale pie , unlike several other eatery's we have visited recently our food was Delicious , hot and very well presented , it is not often I say this but after polishing off this very tasty meal I was stuffed , the amount of meat in both meals was far better than many I have had for quite some time, my wife was equally pleased with the food and we will defiantly be recommending this establishment to all our friends , well done hyndburn bridge .

Went here for the first time recently. The positives are the place is nice and clean and cheerful. Staff where friendly and beer nice. however we cane here for food. part of the menu said Mon-Fri and we asked if there was a Saturday lunch menu which we where told to use Friday one. The Friday one was 2 courses and we wasn't in the mood..So we looked at the front pages of the menu and went with vegetarian pizza. The pizza was pale/undercooked, so not very appetizing. Also smothered in tomatoes which did nothing for the taste of pizza. So at 8.95 I felt it was not worth the money in my opinion. No lasagne and no cheese pie where available.

Ordered a stuffed pepper , it was an enormous red pepper that was barely warm never mind cooked , and it was stuffed , WITH PLAIN WHITE SOGGY RICE ! Not an once of seasoning no garlic onions mushrooms thyme NOTHING and it was almost nine pounds ! Friend had chicken Caesar salad which looked like something from subway but not as good , of course im British and they were packed and it’s not the waitresses fault , who did ask several times if everything was ok , I didn’t complain but they knew by my face I reckon that it wasn’t . Someone needs a word with the ‘chef’ !

would’ve loved to chow down on my chicken burger that i order, however second time now i have paid for my order only for the driver to not deliver it again. I would take a picture but as there’s no food i have nothing to take one of. very disappointed and very hungry.

After visiting nearby Gawthorpe Hall (National Trust), we decided to try this pub for a late lunch. We found it to be an excellent choice. The staff were really friendly and helpful from beginning to end. The place had a nice ambience - the music was just right and the interior decor was tastefully done and pleasing to the eye. There was a good choice on the menu - we had beef chilli and chicken curry - home cooking at its best. Drinks included an excellent JW Lees pint, half a Guinness and a Rosé wine. There's plenty of parking within the pub grounds. We would highly recommend and will definitely visit again.
