Did not eat here but was great atmosphere and service was brill would recommend!

Went to a funeral service across the road last week and came back here with a mate for a beer 🍻. A few tables were taken up with people eating and others were having drinks. Well staffed, looks good inside after refurbishment and there is plenty of parking and outdoor seating. The pints of Guinness we had went down a treat as well.

Actually terrible. Food took ages to arrive, incredibly tasteless. Discussed this with the manager or owner & she argued with me about someone’s steak sandwich being cooked correctly whilst pulling out a tiny bit of steak saying it was pink & when I asked about the rest of it they said “we’ve binned that” Refused to acknowledge how awful the food was. Poor from the outset, never again.

Fantastic Sunday roast and excellent value for money , lovely staff and atmosphere.

Lovely setting and new ideas for the menu has in my opinion lifted this to a regularly eating place. Had the gammon, followed by a strawberry dessert with a gaint jammy dodger. Judging by the comments we overheard from fellow diners, we will be trying the tapus style menu on the next visit Professional staff and the food from the kitchen was excellent. The new management team have certainly got what it takes to turn the venue into a must visit. Fair priced meals with a great choice of drinks. Fist time last night and it certainly won't be the last.

food took over a hour to arrive but 5 minutes before food come we got told they ran out of onion rings why not tell us prior to ordering instead of 5 mins prior to eating when food arrived all meat was cold and they also missed something off the orders and we had to tell them it was missing. Didn’t even get asked how our food was. It was like they knew our food or service wasn’t up to scratch.

Went to a wake, so less lively than for a celebration. Enjoyed the potato pie and the staff were lovely.

This place has just been revamped, Very impressed with how it's transformed into a clean modern place, I tried the food off the new menus it was wonderful and a fair price too, my only suggestion would be the cocktails need some attention quite watered down. But overall well worth a visit. Highly recommended.

We are here for the first time tonight. Me and my partner ordered the steak, cooked medium with chips peas and onion rings. It was delicious. The other couple ordered the steak pie and the spinach and chickpea curry. Everything was piping hot . The steak was cooked to perfection and everything was so much better than I expected. Great value for money. The place was packed out and it's great to see our local pub back to it's best. It's great to have you in our community and hope you continue to go from strength to strength. I'm sure you will.

At a funeral today staff and management very friendly. The pub looks great, fresh decorated and good food.

We visited on Monday evening, I had the steak and ale pie, excellent, my wife had the lasagne. Enjoyed our evening.

On arrival, we weren’t shown to our table, just told…your table is that one in there. We ordered at 19:15 and our food arrived at 20:45. An hour and a half later. We received no apology for the wait and even less of an apology for the food which was near next to inedible. When the landlady came over to ask how our meal was (she had seen how long our wait was), we were politely truthful but we were told ‘Well what can you expect when you’re paying these prices, it’s not to everyone’s palate and it’s not Wetherspoons’ 😂. It seemed the landlady wanted an argument and had every excuse under the sun..albeit they were as dreadful as the food and service. 2 of our table also felt ill after dining. I would really not like to think about the state of their kitchen. Don’t think teething issues covers this, nor the 12 people in the dining room or the price we were paying could excuse how utterly terrible the meal and welcome was. Will never eat here ever again and urge everybody else not to. Anyone leaving glowing reviews clearly hasn’t eaten here. (The photos online are also food from the previous owners, not the current menu, so don’t be fooled).

Great to see my local back at its very best! Jamie and Vanessa are warm, welcoming and classy. I’m sure the place will continue to be busy and vibrant going forward. Brilliant.

The Pub opened its doors last week following a major and much needed refurbishment. Following that the community are now reaping the benefits of an amazingly comfortable and welcoming result. New Hosts Vanessa and Jamie have greeted all with warmth and friendliness and their enthusiasm is clear for all to see. Four of us Dined last night and we were most impressed by the Service, Quality and the more than reasonable prices from a most comprehensive Menu. Pub Food at its Very Best !! We all wish Vanessa , Jaime and their excellent Team every success for the future in this very much appreciated venture.

Booked a table for 6.30, arrived 6.15. Ordered 3 starters and 2 mains. Waited 1 and a half hours for the starter to come, dishes I would say just enough for one person. Waited another half an hour for the mains. Chicken and gammon. The chicken was so over cooked, most of it was uneatable. Will not be going back.

Its a shame after the renovatio.s that my 1st visit was actually after attending a funeral....but the staff were excellent and very willing and helpful. A room was made available for the attandants and family ....the food was lovely and plentyful and nothing was too much trouble. I will visit again...hopefully unfer different circumstances . Thank you for the kindness and professionalism.

Food was delicious but it was the service that was worth the visit Jade behind the bar served us and made us feel very comfortable and ultimately made it a good experience will be returning if only for the friendly staff

Very disappointed was hoping for a lovely family meal. Spent all that money but could not employ anyone to answer the telephone to let us book a table .hence only 1 .I would have given 0 if I could have .how can anyone book a table when nobody there to answer the phone . I rang 4 times at different times .

Following the referb of the Whittakers arms, my wife and I decided to go for lunch on Sunday afternoon. On entering, we were warmly greated by Vanessa and Jamie, who are the new owners. Our first impressions were "what a lovely couple. The referb work looked fantastic. We had previously eaten at the Whittakers before the new ownership and was not too impressed with the food. However, the food which we received today was absolutely delicious and well presented. There is a friendly, warm and family atmosphere within the place which makes us want to go again. We visited the newly renovated establishment today. We received a very warm, friendly welcome from both managers. It was lovely to see the pub very busy on their 2nd day of opening. We ordered drinks first as there was a half hour wait for food to be served. The food was delicious, we ordered fish and chips with a drink which is inclusive of the order. All staff very polite and welcoming. This is what has been missing in the area for so long. Good luck to you all !🥂

Me&my partner visited this afternoon on the first day of the reopening, we wanted a spot for a nice quiet lunch! They didn’t disappoint, food was spot on and we loved it all, will definitely be returning:) Friendly staff and amazing atmosphere

The food was lovely, really tasty. There was a party of 13 people but they forgot one of the meals. The waitress mumbled some apology but there was no apology from the manager. It's a shame because the food was great. The manager is leaving soon so his demeanour was one of we were an inconvenience.

Food was delicious. The barman was lovely. Unfortunately had ran out of Sunday lunches and sausages but the wood we ended up with was really good. The only downside I would say was it was slightly cold and the toilets could have been a little cleaner. But the service and food more than made up for it.

I was here for a funeral, handy as it is opposite the Cemetery and Crematorium. Buffet was okay, beer was well kept.

The food here was really good, great portion sizes and you definitely get your moneys worth, the burger was huge and looked amazing, proper home cooked food, both enjoyed our meals, would definitely return here again, friendly welcoming service too

Ordered 12" salt n pepper pizza. It was absolutely well good I totally recommend it, has a slight kick to it if you love your spices better than any takeaway in accy 100%

Well, where do I begin! Every aspect of our visit from booking to end was just superb! They managed to squeeze us in for a last minute party booking on the back end of their Halloween party. We wasn't expecting the room to be perfect knowing they'd finished a kids party half hour before but wow! Perfectly tidy and ready for us. We pre ordered and food was like clock work and devine at that! Everyone was totally satisfied. Customer service was exemplary and they couldn't do enough for us! We loved it that much we are mid booking for Christmas eve! Thankyou for a lovely birthday celebration. Looking forward to coming at Christmas!

We visited as a family on Saturday evening as a family of 4 around 4.30/4.45 and can say our experience was great, Upon arrival it was noted the owner’s had just held a children’s party so was a little behind on the regular running of the service, it was apperent to the eye at the time we entered that the pub itself was pretty busy, It was also mentioned that there would be a little wait as they had a big table in which we was able to see through to the other room so we was happy to sit and have a couple of drinks and a catch up with relatives. The 2 young men on the bar was lovely & attentive while finding the time to have a chat and a bit of a joke, They was welcoming and in all honesty the food was absolutely worth the wait, hot & delicious. 1 Philly fries -Absolutely recommend these they was amazing. 2 smothered chicken again lovely & a fish & chips, light and fluffy batter with plenty of home made chips. We Will definitely be back as our experience was brilliant.

This is a well run pub very looked after and lovely staff, food is fanatic, can have a laugh with staff and talk to them very easy. would highly recommend you take a visit to the pub.

Booked table for 5pm arrived 4.45 to be told they had a large party in so expect a long wait to order food .No specific table was reserved so told to sit where we liked .Music was far to loud couldn't hear one another speak .Found table sat down and when you touched the table it was sticky obviously not been cleaned.Food from previous diners p probably with children all over the carpet. Went to order food at 6 o'clock the female chef was talking to barman when I asked to order food he asked her is it ok to take their order to which she threw her hands up in the air and said whatever. Alarm bells should have rung then. Ordered food and it was there in no time at all 3 of us had the soup which was tepid the other had pate which he said was ok had to ask for condiments and cutlery.One of us had garlic mushrooms as a main and it had oil floating on the top the other 3 mains were lukewarm.We will never set foot in this dirty disorganised place ever again a family night out was totally ruined it's a shambles.,If it hadn't have been pay when ordering we would have walked out after the starters.Meal booked for 5 o'clock finally left 8 o'clock.😫😫

We booked a table for today at 12pm. This was confirmed on email with a reply from the manager saying “ That’s all booked in thank you”. We turned up at 12 and we are told we don’t know why it was confirmed there is a party on and we aren’t seating anyone. Terrible communication, I don’t understand why it would be confirmed at all.

We went for a meal on a Wednesday evening during half term. The service was very professional and friendly. The food portions were bigger than expected and at great value, not to mention just how perfectly cooked and presented the food was. Would definitely recommend to anyone and everyone looking for a nice meal in a great place.

What an awful experience myself and my husband had. No ice, fridge was not working hence the warm wine. My husband said so no ice and a broken fridge, not good. Ordered 2 meals both with French fries which the lady said was fine. Meals came one with what looked like wedges, my husband said he Ordered French frys, the lady was obviously very irrated but took the plate back to the kitchen then came back plonked it on table and said that's what it comes with. My husband asked why when he asked for French Fryston, then she proceeded to row with us, said she was phoning her manager to complain about US being rude. Another very charming man come into pub and started shouting, tell them to fu.k off. We were so shocked. Another lady came to us to say the bar lady who took our order had just had a miscarriage and was very upset. I totally agree it was a terrible thing to happen to her but as my husband said to her he was sorry to hear it but should she really be working if she was so upset . It was absolutely awful, I've NEVER experienced anything like it. She was wound up like an elastic band and the man at the bar was disgusting shouting and swearing.When we hastily left, the parting comment was to my husband, you are a complete a...hole. TERRIBLE SHOCKING BEHAVIOUR.

I visited with my family recently, we had a fantastic time. Staff were friendly and welcoming, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, the food was delicious. There were 20 of us in total, the service we received from start to finish was excellent. The food came out on time, it was hot, tasty and the portion size was generous. The menu offers a large selection of food choices at reasonable prices. We all had starters, mains and desserts which did not disappoint. We can't wait to visit again. 😊

Arrived as the food service was ending and clean down had begun, yet the friendly staff accommodated us and knocked out a couple of quality cheese filly steak baguettes with fries. Booked a larger group reservation for September and looking forward to it.

The food is fantastic, portion sizes are great, so brilliant value for money. Staff are friendly and very accommodating. Great place for casual meal out. Downside and this is me being picky , the chairs could do with being recovered or replaced. But I will be returning over and over, I could forget about anything for the Smothered Chicken!

Went on a Friday afternoon got there about 2.30pm not many people in. Had the 2 meals for £15 deal really good. Staff friendly they gave my dog a little treat fior being so good. Will defo go again

This is the second time we have eaten here in the past few months and on both occasions the food has been absolutely amazing. The prices are very reasonable for the large portion sizes that you receive. On our first visit we sampled the chicken baguette and yesterday the garlic bread, gammon and the stacked burger all of which tasted delicious. The staff are really friendly and accommodating. Would highly recommend and will be visiting again.

We visited here for lunch for the first time yesterday. The pub was quite busy with two large parties dining .The young man, Andy worked tirelessly on the bar, taking food orders , clearing tables and still made time to have a friendly chat ,...

We came here for a Father's Day lunch after seeing the great recent reviews and we weren't disappointed! It's had a great renovation since we last visited, both the lamb shank and chicken salad were really nice, and they have a great vegetarian selection too which is always nice to see on a pub menu. Attentive staff who seem anxious to make sure everyone has a nice time, I'd recommend everyone give it a go :)

Better than last time I’ve been here before and it was over priced! ***Today is was good atmosphere for a sunny Tuesday cheeky pint which turned into a tea 2 for 15 quid meal. Had to sample the beers and ciders at that price! ***

Massive dogs inside, no real eating tables just a few sofas here and there and a bar and after asking for help finding the tables because id never been before i was told to leave. So i did. EDIT. in response to the owners reply. As part of the rules of becoming a local guide I have to be fair and honest in my reviews. Myself and the accompanying person I came with today all agree on this very honest review. Perhaps an off day but it was my only experience.

Came here for a family meal 3 adults 1 child we walked into a cosy welcoming atmosphere staff was friendly and attentive, the bar man gave my daughter a creme egg for after her meal and came over with crayons and paper for her we ordered the steak, lasagna and the steak Philly burger my daughter got the pizza, garlic bread and chips and wow it was all amazing I can't recommend it enough my daughter had the brownie dessert and got a extra scoop of ice cream they really did make us feel so welcome we booked a taxi but cos it was Eid we couldn't get one for over a hour it was raining hard and my daughter was knackered so the owner kindly took us home now you can't get any better than that it were going back today for dinner before family go back to Ireland!!
