Went for Dinner last night and I had the Pork Tomahawk absolutely fantastic, tasty and brilliantly cooked. My wife had the Fish Selection of fish, scamp and fishcake another excellent meal. According to the Landlord and Landlady It was the first time the Tomahawk had been ordered, I would urge people to try it you don't know what you are missing

It wasn't busy when I went but the fee people squeezed in the tables by the bar meant I felt like I was joining different groups of people when going to order at the bar. After the meal I was snaking and squeezing around the other people in order to get to the door.

We are here for the first time tonight. Me and my partner ordered the steak, cooked medium with chips peas and onion rings. It was delicious. The other couple ordered the steak pie and the spinach and chickpea curry. Everything was piping hot . The steak was cooked to perfection and everything was so much better than I expected. Great value for money. The place was packed out and it's great to see our local pub back to it's best. It's great to have you in our community and hope you continue to go from strength to strength. I'm sure you will. Updated review:- new menu. I went tonight with my boys to find a new menu. I opted for the fish pie. It was extremely good. I will definitely be ordering this again. Cod, prawns and salmon in a lovely creamy sauce, topped by hot buttered mash and melted cheese. My only gripe was that the greens were a little dried out, but the fish pie more than made up for that. My boys went for hunters chicken and a pizza. Three empty plates tells the story. Be careful though as the filling under the mash is a lava like temperature. Take it slow, and blow.

Management are absolutely shocking.... They drink alcohol whilst on shift which in itself is against the premise license objectives of public safety, protection of children from harm and if their is a fire it isn't going to look good if they are drunk. They don't pay staff that have left their wages and they can't keep staff due to their attitude which is probably due to their alcohol consumption whilst on shift. This review will not even be thought about being removed until my wages are paid into my bank account in full!!! Star pubs and Heineken will also be notified, might look into contacting Hyndburn council too regarding the Licence Premises objectives not fully being adhered too due to alcohol consumption whilst on shift by management which is also evidenced by CCTV

We attended the venue for a wake, in which the food served was delicious, and the service was equally great. Service for drinks and food were extremely fast, and the environment was nice and calm as it was during the day. The log fire made a lovely experience compared to the cold weather outside. Both the meat and potato pie and the cheese and onion pie were delicious.

Very very slow service. Chef cannot cook steaks as we asked for 2 medium rare and a medium. They were all well done n didn't even look like steaks. The waitress/i think lanlady didnt even know which steak was which when she brought them. Nobody asked us if we wanted any salt, vinegar or sauces. Small portions. Will not be going back.

They were having a bad day when we went. They stopped serving food just after we arrived on Sunday afternoon, our original order wasnt availabe because they didnt uave the ingredients in, there was no mango chutney with our curry and poppadom no bread and butter with the fish platter, and we waited ages for the food to be served, and were asked twice if we wanted a table. There were only 2 bar staff on duty and they were clearly frazzled. They had to deal with a group of drunks that had to be poured into a taxi after deciding to use the beer garden as a toilet. I felt so sorry for them and it wasn't a great introduction to what we hope will be our new local. We did get profuse (and embarrassed) apologies and are prepared to give them a chance to redeem themselves. When we do, I'll be more than happy to update the review. In the meantime I can only say that it's a good job we weren't mystery shoppers!

I really regret to write this as I am in support of local businesses and in particular, dog friendly establishments. I visited Sunday afternoon and despite receiving polite, friendly, efficient service from the two staff behind the bar, it was clear they were rushed off their feet, trying to achieve an impossible task, serving drinks and meals to an extremely busy pub inside and outside. I ordered 3 'small plate dishes' and waited over an hour for the food to arrive, only to be extremely disappointed and shocked by what was provided. Not only were the portions tiny, there was a serious mis representation of the description on the menu. In comparison, I was in Hebden Bridge last week and ordered 3 similar small dishes for only 50p more and the quality, size, taste and presentation was far superior. For a relatively new refurbished establishment in Accrington, I would expect better. Such a shame and a let down!

We visited a couple of weeks ago for drinks only, lovely environment. We called back this week after work for food ribs and wing platter, very poor value for money, still hungry after. Chicken tikka flatbread, badly cooked bits of chicken on a tortilla with a sad salad. Had high hopes for this local pub as we are desperately in need for somewhere to eat drink and socialize at this side of town.

Absolutely awful. The landlords Jamie and Vanessa are absolutely disgusting towards their staff, all night sat there drinking whilst two staff were slammed behind the bar with having to serve people and run food clear up and what not and didn’t bother to help once. I have been here a couple of times and have only seen the managers work when it’s a quiet night so then they can always go sit down with their mates and drink some more on shift. God knows how they make any sort of profit drinking all their stock. The food was definitely microwaved and definitely not worth it and I feel nothing but sympathy for the chef knowing this is out of his control and would definitely rather prepare his own food he’s proud of! I believed the pub would’ve had a good turn around due to new owners and I did have high hopes, but I overheard the landlords multiple times that they want to sell or they “Can’t be Arsed” working, why buy a pub then? I feel awful for the poor staff having to work under them, everytime I’ve been in they have been training new members of staff who last 2 weeks, at what point do the managers take a look at themselves to see they may be the issue. I witnessed one girl get screamed at for opening the wrong bottle of wine, no wonder the younger generation don’t want to work when they have bullies for managers! I don’t think I’ve ever seen the landlord Jamie smile, I witnessed him getting aggy with a staff member for apparently taking too long of a break and when I asked them they said they get a 30 min break every 6 hours but sometimes doesn’t even get the break due to being too busy!! For clarity the staff member was actually early from their break, Jamie just had an attitude as he had to help on the bar whilst they took a very well earned break. The managers need to take a look at themselves, as the workers they have are amazing but they will continue to run staff away due to being so incompetent and not prepared to own a pub in the slightest. Having owned a pub myself and worked in the industry for 37 years I could never imagine treating the staff the way I have witnessed these two “managers” have.

We booked in advance 12 adults and three children for a family gathering meal on a Sunday afternoon. As we congregated my niece accidentally spilt a drink whilst holding her baby. I approached the landlady Vanessa who was unoccupied behind the bar and politely asked if there was a cloth available for the spillage. Her reply was "I hope it's not on my new table?" She didn't offer to help just slammed a blue roll on the bar for me to go and clean up the small spillage. I immediately felt that this person had bad customer service! Once seated and food orders were being placed at the bar my Wife tried to order for me Chicken and Chips to be told there was no chicken! Meanwhile other family members were ready to order chicken so my Wife advised them there was no chicken to them be told we do have chicken but it's not roast chicken it's chicken breasts but not big enough to fill a plate! My wife decided to order noodles with char grilled chicken for herself and Fish and Chips for me. The other family members who wanted chicken decided to go for the burgers. Whilst waiting for our food a waitress declared "we have no burgers but don't worry they've gone out to get some!!!! Deliveroo and Just eat spring to mind...Most food arrived together with the exception of the burgers! My fish and chips looked ok but really wanted chicken🐔 However the batter was like a soggy washleather due to the oil not being hot enough to crisp it up scraped it off. As a I scraped the last bit of the soggy mess off it revealed a pool of oil which ran onto my plate. I recognised the oil was old and burnt which repeated on me for hours afterwards! Eventually the other guys got their burgers 🙌 which resembled cardboard!!! And he'd to ask for cutlery!!! (Think mum went to Iceland!) Amongst this the chef/cook/YTS trainee came out of the kitchen shouting for help with the desserts/sweets. It was like Fawlty Towers with all the staff miserable and as grumpy as Basil himself!!! After repeatedly taking glasses back to the bar the empty plates were still in front of us until I asked for a little service to clear the never ending clutter! All this time the owners were doing very little to help their staff and less to provide a service to their customers!!!! On the whole we had a great family gathering. My Wife was sick when we got home thanks to the dirty cooking oil that her "chicken nuggets" not char grilled chicken were cooked in!!! And the burnt oil taste will probably stay with me forever! Having spent 20 years in the catering/ hospitality these "hosts" do not deserve the opportunity!!!! Whittaker's Arm's Accrington...NOT RECOMMEND!!!

We've been coming here for a number of years now as it's our local pub. We've always felt that the place had lots of potential to become a great community pub if they could just find the right people to run it. I'm happy to say that the new landlord and landlady are exactly what this place has needed. It is now busy every night of the week with different social events. There are live acts, a bingo night, a quiz night, to name just a few. They have a well stocked bar and serve delicious food that is reasonably priced. They also serve breakfasts at the weekend as well as Sunday lunch.

Visited with friends, ordered food waited 45 minutes and it still had not arrived. When we asked if there was a problem told by landlord it was just being plated up. Had to wait a further 10 minutes for it to arrive. Two steak salad's ordered, very disappointed, consisted of mixed leaves, tomatoes and a few strips of carrot (one had no carrot at all). We pointed out to the landlord that the menu stated the salads included, cucumber, red onion, peppers and radish. We were informed that the missing ingredients had not been delivered that day. Basically landlord was not interested, as he walked away we got a mumbled sorry. Our other friend had ordered a sandwich and a portion of chips, her potion consisted of 8 chips. Very, very poor customer service, will not be going back and would not recommend

After having this place highly recommended to us we were excited to visit for lunch but never again! There was a large party in who already had their meals and a few other tables occupied. We found a table and went to the bar to order. We ordered pulled pork sandwich with an extra side of chips and 2 steak salads, 1 to be cooked rare with no dressing and the other med rare with dressing. After approx 40 minutes we asked about our food to be told it was being plated. 5 minutes later the sandwich arrived with 8 chips on the same plate ( chips were £3 as a side) and my salad arrived. The menu described the salad as mixed leaves, tomato, peppers, cucumber , red onion, grated carrot and radish. What came was leaves , tomato with a rare steak with salad dressing. I pointed out to the server who said they had not had a delivery today! Why when he took our order did he not tell us there was no salad stuff so we could choose something else? The tomato slices on my plate were few and far between with 2 of them being end bits with the stalks in. We had paid for the food when ordering so we actually paid for something we did not receive. There was no checking was everything ok as at most establishments when they’ve brought our food and on the way out the server didn’t even look up from talking to other staff. Absolutely no customer service whatsoever and we will not be returning. The pork sandwich was ok.

Discussed this with the manager or owner & she argued with me about someone’s steak sandwich being cooked correctly whilst pulling out a tiny bit of steak saying it was pink & when I asked about the rest of it they said “we’ve binned that” Refused to acknowledge how awful the food was. We went in on a Friday evening and as before it was busy with a funeral/wake booking. We were given a high table/chairs near the bar. I ordered our food at the bar. 43 mins later our food arrived. We ate quickly, because we were starving by this time. It was honestly the driest chicken I have ever eaten. Since it was fine on other occasions I just took it as them having a bad night. As we took our last bite we were asked to leave our table so someone else could sit there! If there was an hour time limit on the table they should have told us when we sat down! If that is their policy they need to get the food out quicker to give customers a chance to eat before being rushed out. We’ve eaten here a few times and it’s been fine, but we won’t be going back again. A shame since it is local to us and we looked forward to being weekly customers.

But after our experience, I think if only fair to leave this review so that people don’t waste their hard earned money on a meal here. We were a booked table. On arrival, we weren’t shown to our table, just told…your table is that one in there. We ordered at 19:15 and our food arrived at 20:45. An hour and a half later. We received no apology for the wait and even less of an apology for the food which was near next to inedible. When the landlady came over to ask how our meal was (she had seen how long our wait was), we were politely truthful but we were told ‘Well what can you expect when you’re paying these prices, it’s not to everyone’s palate and it’s not Wetherspoons’ 😂. It seemed the landlady wanted an argument and had every excuse under the sun..albeit they were as dreadful as the food and service. 2 of our table also felt ill after dining. I would really not like to think about the state of their kitchen. Don’t think teething issues covers this, nor the 12 people in the dining room or the price we were paying could excuse how utterly terrible the meal and welcome was. Will never eat here ever again and urge everybody else not to. Anyone leaving glowing reviews clearly hasn’t eaten here. (The photos online are also food from the previous owners, not the current menu, so don’t be fooled).

Booked a table for 6.30, arrived 6.15. Ordered 3 starters and 2 mains. Waited 1 and a half hours for the starter to come, dishes I would say just enough for one person. Waited another half an hour for the mains. Chicken and gammon. The chicken was so over cooked, most of it was uneatable. Will not be going back.

Its a shame after the renovatio.s that my 1st visit was actually after attending a funeral....but the staff were excellent and very willing and helpful. A room was made available for the attandants and family ....the food was lovely and plentyful and nothing was too much trouble. I will visit again...hopefully unfer different circumstances . Thank you for the kindness and professionalism.

We visited the newly renovated establishment today. We received a very warm, friendly welcome from both managers. It was lovely to see the pub very busy on their 2nd day of opening. We ordered drinks first as there was a half hour wait for food to be served. The food was delicious, we ordered fish and chips with a drink which is inclusive of the order. All staff very polite and welcoming. This is what has been missing in the area for so long. Good luck to you all !🥂

The food was lovely, really tasty. There was a party of 13 people but they forgot one of the meals. The waitress mumbled some apology but there was no apology from the manager. It's a shame because the food was great. The manager is leaving soon so his demeanour was one of we were an inconvenience.

Food was delicious. The barman was lovely. Unfortunately had ran out of Sunday lunches and sausages but the wood we ended up with was really good. The only downside I would say was it was slightly cold and the toilets could have been a little cleaner. But the service and food more than made up for it.

Just got back from here! I would like to say what a great tea rooms probably one of the best I’ve been to. The service was great, atmosphere great, spacious, I had a coffee which was great flavour! And a currant scone cream and jam, when it arrived the clotted cream was really easy to spread because the scone was hot what a surprise? Tasted like no other. I would recommend this place what a pleasure.

After visiting nearby Gawthorpe Hall (National Trust), we decided to try this pub for a late lunch. We found it to be an excellent choice. The staff were really friendly and helpful from beginning to end. The place had a nice ambience - the music was just right and the interior decor was tastefully done and pleasing to the eye. There was a good choice on the menu - we had beef chilli and chicken curry - home cooking at its best. Drinks included an excellent JW Lees pint, half a Guinness and a Rosé wine. There's plenty of parking within the pub grounds. We would highly recommend and will definitely visit again.

Grasmere is lovely but small so limited choice of value eateries. As a family of four we just wanted a quick and easy sandwich, soup or panini lunch. Options were limited but this is where this eatery saved the day. Great choice of lunch time food, quick service and pleasant staff.
