We visited your cafe for tea and cake and the customer service we received was appalling, the tables were dirty and not being cleared or cleaned. We won’t be back.

I read a couple of reviews and thought I would give my opinion on my visit , it was delicious . Staff are so helpful , they are busy but so friendly and enthusiastic, the lunch was delicious . No worries on the size of napkins and tables being cleared here . The things people moan about are ridiculous - lovely lovely Teashop I loved my visit and will be returning and telling all of my friends to. Ps coffee is divine and the coffee and walnut cake was the best I’ve ever had !

Lovely place and food, just a shame they do not clean the tables after clearing them, this should be done as a matter of course. It is a matter of good hygene. Knockholt always does this when a table is cleared its not difficult.

Been coming here since it took over from Wyevale. My one complaint is the miniscule napkins. Have mentioned it to staff who seem unconcerned but did agree that they were rather small(about 8ins x 6ins) Being old fashioned 80 yr olds who use napkins to protect their clothes I find these 'napkins' totally inadequate and to be asked just to TAKE ONE is ludicrous - most people grab a handful and even staff give you a handful. So are you actually saving money by doing this? You may say why do you come here? - the truth is everything else is so good from the plants to the very friendly staff and we still enjoy coming here except for this one SMALL issue. Any chance of a rethink to make our visits complete? Mrs Rosemary Flood

Not badly decorated, it appeared clean and well laid out. It was very busy and getting a table was not that easy. It is dog friendly. It would be nice if the tables were cleared more often, the old plates on our table were not even removed by the lady who brought our food. I saw numerous customers moving used items around tables to make room for their own food. The staff were friendly enough, efficient and polite. The food however could only be described as average, while it all looked great at the counter, its content and presentation upon arrival at our table left something to be desired. If I am being asked to pay the quite frankly extortionate price of nearly £10 for a toasted sandwich, I would expect more than a slice of ham, a bit of cheese , two slices of thin basic bread, some crisps and a bit of garnish. At this moment in time, where people are looking at the cost of living, how you can expect customers to pay nearly £30 for two small coffees and a couple of sandwiches (if we had also had cakes it would have been closer to £40) is not pushing it, its taking a bulldozer to it! Mind you it was full, so while people are paying, why change? Nice location, good coffee, not bad food. Dreadful value for money.

Returning from a holiday in Eastbourne, we called in for a rather late lunch. Very pleasant staff and excellent food. Our brie and cranberry sandwiches came with crisps and a small salad thick tasty bread bursting with filling, I think we could have shared one quite comfortably! Very nice cafe with good menu and excellent food. I enjoy coming here but am disappointed in the lack of parasols on the balcony overlooking the roses. This is such a perfect spot to enjoy a nice meal but sadly they do not provide parasols / shades over the tables so on a hot day the only shade is for a few tables under the shade of the building. Such a shame. I asked a member of staff and was told they were on order but I was told the same thing last summer. How long does it take to order some parasols?? Sadly member of staff wasn't very helpful and seemed annoyed and defensive.......

Sunday midday, it felt nice to walk into the warm Hybrid TeaRooms, it was damp and cold outside. Pot of tea, coffee and shared toastie. From the Specials Board…cheese and onion with Stilton Cheese at £9 for the toastie. Served with a small fresh salad and some crisps, the Toastie was made from thin sliced white bread, quite a lot of crunchy onion and a limited amount of cheese with Stilton barely visible or tasted. I would have thought it poor value at £5 but the £9 charge was excessive. You might have made money that day but we will not eat with you again. A rip off.!!

The outside tables give a lovely view towards the Ashdown Forest normally, but in the Summer it is breathtaking as the thousands of rose bushes below come into flower. Gorgeous, colourful and scented. Back into the tea room though and a spot of tea? Great choice of cakes, even something is gluten free for me. Lunch menus are limited to soup, baked potatoes and sandwiches, due to lack of space in the tiny kitchen, however servings are generous. I came here with my grandmother and other family for her birthday, it was 15 minutes before they were to close, we wanted a quick cup of tea. The girl in the cafe said not one word to us, when we came in and we all sat down, we then went to the counter to order tea and she said unless we wanted to sit outside they were now closed. There would have been plenty of time for us to have the tea and go before they closed but apparently they close fifteen minutes before they are meant to.. She waited for us to sit down before saying anything.. This is a lot of effort for elderly people to sit down and expect a nice cup of tea to then have to get up again and be chucked out.. Really rude and not even an apology when my grandma was upset. It ruined her dayout. This is not the treatment we would have gotten if it was still wych cross nurseries and not Wyvale.

Whilst this is a little 'tea room' and part of a garden centre they have done their best to make a nice atmosphere and deliver good food with efficient service. Could really do with a much larger room, but one wonders which is making the money for the business? When it is good weather the terrace, and outside seating, is really nice but in great demand. We ordered tea and cake. The cake was a tad on the expensive side at £3 per slice, but was delicious, and the portions were generous. However, having sat inside, it soon became evident that the only thing the staff wanted to do was tidy up and close up. They were not very subtle about this, and in the end, closed the doors a good 10-15 minutes early, and asked another couple dining to move outside!! We took the hint, and left, but an otherwise delicious break was marred by the attitude of the staff.

While looking around the nursery we wondered into the tea room to have a drink to find a wide variety for lunch at very reasonable price. The staff were very pleasant helpful and we had an enjoyable lunch.

Went with a friend for lunch, quite a'lot to chose from but we decided to have the soup of the day, Pea and Mint, not something I've tried before and it was delicious, served with warm bread. Just perfect for a wet cold day

Why not combine your visit to this popular Garden Centre with a nice cup of tea and homemade cakes. Not only can you enjoy your tea and cake but the nursery houses one of the largest selection of roses in the country.

This Tea room is situated inside the garden centre so you do need to walk outside to reach it. It has a lovely outside decking area when the weather is nice but plenty of seating indoors too. They offer a variety of cakes. Lunch finishes at 2 but worth it, lots of things to chose from. There is Homemade soup, jacket pots with various fillings, sandwiches or toasties with salad, ploughmans. All freshly made and nicely presented. The Staff are friendly and the tea room is always kept nice and clean

Decided to take my elderly mum for tea and cake this afternoon. It's been a year since I was last here and it was great to see that there are additional tables and chairs now at the front giving plenty of outside space. The cakes were delicious, coffee and walnut and lemon drizzle and the tea was great too.Lovely to wander around and lovely clean loos too!

Discovered this little gem quite by accident. The garden centre is immaculately kept and the tea room a wonderful bonus. We sat outside on the balcony overlooking the vast array of roses for sale and beautiful country view. The is an old red London bus with tables and chairs inside, a patio area as well as inside the tea room itself, You really are spoiled for choice. My husband had a cream tea, which he said was delicious.

Sue and her extremely courteous and hard working team strive to ensure your expectations are not just met but surpassed on each and every visit. As a regular nothing is taken for granted you are always met with the same professional service time after time, wether popping in for a tea or coffee, or having a superb lunch you will not be disappointed. My recommendation is you sit on the rear balcony over looking the roses and on to the lama farm and simply relax and chill. Not open on Sundays but please give it a try to see for yourselves how good this place is

One of our favourite nurseries, and when ever we visit Sussex, this is a must visit place. The food here has been consistently good over the years and we always make sure that our visit is around lunch time. My wife and I had a smoked applewood ploughman's each this time and I must say, it was both enormous and of excellent quality. Please do try them if you are in the area, you will not be disappointed!

I am writing this because although I do usually enjoy my highly priced basic food at this cafe, I feel that the lady who seems to run the cafe is rude, unhelpful and inflexible. She is too set in her ways for hospitality, she has a passive aggressive, awkward and verging on rude manner. In my opinion it is time for her to move over and leave it to the rest of the friendly and kind staff.Such a shame to have a lovely cafe ruined by one woman. Finally, 2pm is far to early to stop serving lunch food, you are a cafe and if you want to compete with the big chains, be as welcoming and flexible as they are.

Tried the Hay Waggon, which is under new ownership. Great barbecue with seafood kebabs and amazing local rump steak. Homemade ice creams are to die for. All served up in a wonderful garden

We visited the Boar's Head Inn at Crowborough today (19/6/24) for a Wake following the funeral of a dear friend. We were absolutely amazed at the wonderful spread that was provided. Both hot and cold food. Well presented and attentive service. Excellent! We have visited for lunch meals on a couple of past occasions and have always been impressed by the variety and quality of the food. Thankyou.

I’ve been to this place a few times now, when flying to and from Gatwick Airport. I’ve always been impressed by the staffs politeness and courtesy, going that extra mile. They are very dog friendly with treats at the bar, and water bowls provided. There has been a hansom, well behaved, and affectionate Australian kelpie dog there on a few of my visits. The rooms are reasonably priced have been consistently clean, tidy and comfortable during my stay. I would not hesitate to recommend The Plough Inn to any other traveller or patron.
