Portions were generous and despite the large party, all food was hot when served. We had a whole section to ourselves and service was incredible. Would highly recommend. Thank you Hunters Inn xxx

A little quiet as it was a Tuesday lunchtime, but nevertheless we had a lovely time. We ordered a Steak and Stilton pie with four options of vege / gravy all for one price and also ordered off the special board an amazing Brie and marmalade quiche that came with a good sized salad. All the food was great quality and good portions. Excellent service and food. We’ll definitely go back for more.

Had a great lunch with the family today. Nice little corner full of weird and wonderful musical instruments on the wall. Table service was good, burgers were good, deserts were amazing. My only suggestion would be to reduce the main course portions, which were enormous. We don’t like wasting it! Love that it’s dog friendly here too.

If you're after a proper, no-nonsense, meaty meal, The Hunters Inn is the place to go! Their burger is everything a burger should be – packed with a thick, juicy patty that doesn't mess around. None of those flimsy, disappointing patties here; this one is full of flavor and cooked to perfection. The food overall is absolutely lovely, and the place has a cozy, charming vibe that makes you feel right at home. For anyone craving real, hearty meat dishes, you won't find better than this!

We came here as tourists and were absolutely satisfied. We received a super friendly welcome, it was quick, the portions were huge and the food was really tasty. Above all, my worries about finding something to eat as a vegetarian in England were, to my delight, unfounded here. The vegetable lasagna was great! Very contemporary selection, thumbs up. We would come back here at any time.

We where regulars and live locally we use to enjoy going down here. The garden is run down and littered with rubbish, and not like it's been there that day and then picked up as we have returned and it's still there. Despite it being dead we waited ages to be serverd. The older lady was having nothing but problems using the till. We ordered food sat outside. Again we where the only ones who had ordered and was so very slow to get food. We don't mind waiting if it's going to be nice. Myself and daughter hardly ate ours. I had a burger and chips. Burger was dry and bland. Chips had no flavor and where very dry. My 3 little children I must say enjoyed their food, and is good value for money. Dinner, drink and ice cream. When the bar staff came to collect our plates she said oh didn't you like it? I explained and she responded by say oh well I think they taste lovely. I certainly won't be going back for food there any time soon.

The new owners are making a real effort to win back lost customers. We had the Sunday roast but they had run out of beef which was what we really fancied. We were offered lamb which was not on the menu. All home cooked and very tasty. Just need to revamp the ales on offer as they are still limited to what was on offer before they took over. Good luck I think you will get there on my initial thoughts.

Re arrange these letters for the experience T S I H. Such a shame as it’s a local pub to us. The previous manager used to scream at the staff with no regard to who heard. The new managers are not rude they just ignore you. Went in for Sunday Lunch and the beef was so tough it was like trying to eat a pair of leather shoes. Service reminded me of an A&E department, you get someone grunt at you when you arrive and then leave you sat for hours with no contact. This is a text book example of how to kill a pub!!. Gave a two star ⭐️ for food as the cabbage was nice. We waited an hour trying to order a desert before we just left..

Worst experince I have ever had at this pub. Back in the hayday was the best place to be in the area. After several unsuccessful landlords have been and gone, and trying from time to time, we thought for a special occasion we we would try out again as under new management. What can I say drinks came out in dribs and drabs. Told quite a few beverages not on menu even the waitresses had not been briefed on what was missing as the poor girl had to come back and tell us after taking our order. Starters then not available which she also did not know about. After waiting a good 45 minutes after our starters and a few questions of where our food was we finally got the wrong order. Told we had to wait for the 2 chickens to be cooked but rest of the table was ready (after 45 mins) we called it a day. Won't be going again even on the off chance that it might be different. Other than us 8 I believe that there were only two pther tanles of 2. Stay clear as no one has run it right since the owner sold up in 2014 and quite obvious the new owners have no idea either.

I give it 3 stars as firstly- I never ate there so i can't comment on the food. Stopped for a couple of drinks on a Sunday evening and sat outside. I like my music and loud but there is an outside speaker attached to the wall constantly hammering music away- when your trying to chat it's a bit annoying. Went there a few year's back just before it closed down for a while and it still gives off the same sort of vibe, has potential yet lacks something you can't put your finger on. I'm sure I'd give it more or less stars if I'd tried the food. If your stopping for a drink then it's ideal.

I have reluctantly taken 2* off my original review...due entirely to shockingly bad beer. I have visited this venue 4 times in the last 8 weeks...each visit at lunchtime on a Saturday. I ordered a pint of Staropramen lager on each visit and enquired as to whether it had been pulled before. 4 confirmations later and the drink that was put in front of me was pig swill. As an ex-publican of some 18 years...I fully understand the reducing profit margins, but the draw from the barrel to the pump...be it 2, 3, or even 4 pints is necessary for serving good, clean and fresh products at the sharp end. Admittedly on each occasion my complaint was dealt with, with speed and courtesy, but it is still unacceptable for a pub...NOT to ensure that its beers, ciders and lagers are in prime condition at point of sale. One further anomaly is that the huge car park doesn't have any dedicated disabled bays? Which is not exactly great.

Attended a private function today, all meals pre- booked. The entire event was brilliant, manager/ landlady, waiting team, food and choice. The drinks were very reasonably priced and food was great quality, quantity and well presented. Dishes were wings, prawn cicktsil or soup for starter, we had the prawn cocktail which consisted of lovely prawns. For main course the choice was steak pie, mash , seasonal vegetables and real gravy made with the veg water, gammon steak with pineapple, egg, chips( which were gorgeous) and salad, hunters chicken, salad and chips. We had the pie , again delicious, well filled individual pie with beautiful pastry and gravy. The dessert choices were lemon meringue pie with cream and fresh berry garnish, sticky toffe pudding with custard and chocolate brownie. We both had the sticky toffee pudding which was light and delicious, whilst others on the table had the lemon meringue pie which by all accounts was also gorgeous. All in all a brilliant 3-4 hours. I’ve been coming to this restaurant ever since I was a young boy and I’m 27 now and I’m bringing my kids here, this place holds a lot of nostalgia and positive memories for me and it’s excellent to see that under new management it’s even better than what I remember. Decided to try an old haunt that has recently reopened under new owners. My Mother and Father used to cherish a trip out to Swanmore to visit the orchards and farm shops in the area followed by a trip to the Hunter's Inn. We arrived on a balmy evening and sat outside taking the evening sun and watching it set. We ordered two basket meals which were cooked to order, I loved the Sausages and chips whilst my wife enjoyed her choice of Chicken goujons and chips. A huge upgrade from how the place was previously (I worked there for 5 years), they finally got rid of that horrendous carpet! The interior is drastically more stylish in general. I had the burger, which was a pleasant experience, although the dish could’ve done with salad as garnish and maybe a pickle inside the bun. The chips, however, were superb. Our waitress was really cheery and friendly - good overall service. Going up to pay is the default, which is absolutely fine by me as sometimes it’s nice not to be pushed to leave! EDIT: Updating this after having visited a second time for drinks only. We met with a few friends in the bar on a Thursday afternoon when it was quiet, which we expected. Two disappoints, though. First, there was no background music playing, which just felt strange and dead. It really ruined the atmosphere when it was already really empty. Second, we fancied a light bite to eat, even just a side, but there was no lunch menu and no sides section on the main menu. Just starters, mains, and desserts. Sure, you can ask for some chips, but would be nice to see a range of sides and at least some kind of lunch grub.

We visited here yesterday- NY day with friends and our two dogs. We were made really welcome, very attentive friendly staff. The food was incredible, we had a fixed menu. The food was top quality, beautifully cooked and presented and excellent value. Rest rooms were impressive too. Very clean. We will definitely return- thank you. A very happy new year to you all.

We stayed with another couple for 2 nights B&B plus one dinner. The hotel couldn't be better placed in Winchester but both the car park and the dining room are far too small for the number of guests. One of us had to wait for about 40 mins for a car park space (for which they charge £15 per night) and we had to wait for over 30 mins each morning for a table at breakfast. The hotel was busy but they should operate booked timings for breakfast rather than making guests wait for tables when they cannot accommodate the numbers. The food was very good but at dinner two of us were served our main courses about 10 mins before the others. I paid for the wine separately but when the bill was presented a service charge had been added which I asked to be deleted which it was.

I met with my 3 bridesmaids to discuss all things wedding as i don’t live locally to them. From the moment we arrived we were treated wonderfully. With a wonderful atmosphere between the team and with us. As a restaurant attached to a hotel my expectation was low but we all came away smiling and feeling like we’d all been looked after ☺️

Fairly unimpressive. The kids were so excited and the decor is great but there seems to be some underlying issues. It was not busy as we came in early at 5pm. 25 minutes to get a menu, at least 8 items not available which was only an issue for adults, food arrived before our drinks which eventually arrived incorrect, food was decent though, we requested a menu again for desserts but after 15 minutes, no sign of it so we paid the bill and left for Kaspa’s. Seemed to be a similar story on other tables, eventually the people hearing the unavailable items just left without ordering. In hindsight, this probably would have been our best bet. Such a shame.

Sunday roast with the family. 6 adults, 2 children, 2 vegans. Every one of us left knowing we’d had the best roast we’d had in ages. Possibly the best roast potatoes I’ve had in a pub. Puddings to die for. Great choice of beers and ales. Will be going back very soon.
