The Hungry Fox in Medway

Came for lunch and brought my doggy. Perfect food which was pipping hot. Great atmosphere. Tia was very helpful and attentive.

I visited the Hungry Fox pub on the 25/10/24 with my family as I was visiting them in the local area. When I ordered my food & drinks I was served by a member of staff named Caroline who was very attentive, polite & courteous & made us feel very welcome. The pub has a lovely atmosphere & the food & drinks were nice. When I am next in the area I will be visiting the Hungry Fox again.

Went there with the family had a really good time the food was very good and tasty also the staff were very attentive. We will be returning good value for money.

First ever visit to The Hungry Fox and we will certainly be returning . The food was very, very good and the lamb shank soooo delicious. Service was excellent and friendly, food hot and drinks cold. Young children were made a fuss of which was lovely and in many pubs and restaurants rare now. The ambience was pleasant and felt clean and cared for, no sticky tables or carpets. Grrene king you should be proud of this gem.

Wow, I was here 2 years ago. The food was awful....but decided to give it another go ... I'm so sorry we did .. arrived about 12.40, ordered our food an hr later no food .. asked the staff oh it will be another 15 mins ( so stated that if u had a prob then we should have been told about the wait) Table of 4 next to us had been there since about 12.30 and still waiting ...then their starters arrived ( it was only soup but had taken 1hr 15 mins) ... over 30 mins later our meals came out we complained about the wait.. over 90 mins for food .. peas rock hard, chips there was about 9 ... so we all complained again. All 4 tables where we were sitting had our money refunded ... sorry defo won't be going again ....

We have used this establishment a few times because of the quality of the food and the location which is convenient to us all. Sadly our lunch time meeting today lasted several hours as we waited for over one hour for our food order to arrive. There appeared to be only two members of staff taking orders and manning the bar. If this is because you are short of staff, please message me privately and I am sure that I can help out..... The food was mostly good although I have seen better bowls of macaroni cheese and was pleased that I ordered fish and chips for my meal. As a result of our experience today we are now considering holding our meet ups at another establishment.

Currently sat in the hungry fox, total disaster, waitress has got the orders wrong twice, food is cold having to wait for my partners food to arrive, think the chef must be new or hasn't got a clue in cooking food to go out at the time of it being hot.

Something that was supposed to be a quick lunch turned out to be a long wait for food. And the staff kept on saying the food will be there soon. We had to cancel the dessert and leave. The place was not even busy!

Stopped here for lunch taking advantage of pub classic 2 for £ deal. Hunters chicken and Katsu curry both delicious and filling.

Next to no atmosphere at all Food was passable, veg was near on raw and no sauces to go with Sunday roast

Absolutely lovely meal for my grandsons birthday. 11 of us. The food was good! The service was great. Could not fault any of it.

Such a lovely pub with great food and amazing staff members, who are so polite and helpful. Tegan and harry were so lovely and are a credit to the team. We had a big order with loads of changes to the meals ect and Tegan remembered them all and the food come out exactly how we asked.

Brilliant as always, love the food, wine and my favourite the lovely staff always welcoming and today Thalia and Abi made our visit perfect.

Basically a nearly perfect pub with good easy parking and very good food at a great price.

Have revisited the HF after a long break. Got to say it has greatly improved. Sat in the restaurant which was lovely and comfortable. Food was really excellent and menu seemed to have more variety than other Green Kings. Best thing about the whole experience was amazing and cheerful service. Thanks Sam and Abi we will definatley be coming back. Andy

Really enjoy coming here for quiz night every week, food always delicious and great service from Thalia, Hailey and Tegan, wouldn't go anywhere else for quiz night.

Midweek lunchtime visit with old friends of my wife & I ... pleasant enough outside seating, table service, but order at the bar, coffee not the greatest, had better... food good, but chips were overdone, good value for money however. Staff friendly and helpful, easy parking, only noticed 2 disabled bays, expect evenings & weekends are busier... Very convenient for the shopping centre... Will call again.

Been here loads of times and each time there was loads of the food menu unavailable and just isn't a very clean or appealing place, Even with the Flying Saucer closed its still not got any busier you'd have thought they'd up their game a bit and rake it in but no and I bet to this day it still doesn't even have a dart board, pool table or TV inside lol. This is a dead pub people just makes you miserable being inside.

Used to love this pub a lot, unfortunately in recent months the pub is closing the doors fairly early. I wouldn’t mind if the website was more clear about it as i have to walk around 30 minutes to get there only to have closed doors with staff still talking around 9:45pm - I don’t think it is too fair on us. I hope this pub can return to normal as recent closures of nearby pubs may be bound to hit this one.

Came to have a pint at half past 9 on a pub crawl with some mates this evening. All the lights in pub were on, but the doors were locked? Members of staff seen hanging around the bar area having a giggle and when we tried to communicate with them to ask if the pub was shut or not, still an hour and a half before closing time, we were looked at and ignored. May have been a quiet night but feel locking up and hour and a half early to then stand around having a giggle is unacceptable!

Didn't even eat. Children playing football in the restaurant, they were not asked to stop. When we mentioned it, they carried on. Wasn't going to eat in a place where people and staff didnt care.

Unfortunately I can only leave the Hungry Fox a 1 star review & that one star is purely based on the fact that we had no trouble parking & could find an empty table. However we recieved no service at all. The only information passed to us was that it was at least an hours wait for food delivered in a way we took to discourage us from waiting. How can this be on a normal Tuesday late lunch time? This is pub food largely just cooked without much preparation not gourmet cuisine. Greene King you really need to get your Public Houses in Order.

We came here for food the other weekend , and food was absolutely disgusting tasted re heated my partner has the lamb shank and it was not even piping hot neither the sause . I had fish and chips the fish was horrible the only nice thing was the chips . Staff was friendly and helpful . Just the food was awful . There was about 5 of us came to around £100 just really disappointed considering it’s only a small pub with a small menu you would think they would put more effort into the food .

Sadly a negative experience. What has happened to this pub. It lacks atmosphere and looks shabby. Had lasagne but it didn't even touch the sides of the dish and I really couldn't see the point in a pile of wilted rocket. The dining areas were not very clean, the photo I have uploaded shows detritus all over the floor by one table that was left for an hour and three quarters. Except for one lady the staff seemed bored and couldn't really be bothered with one in particular who made no eye contact at all. Compared to similar Greene King pubs in the area,this one has quite a limited menu and their deals are more expensive. I couldn't see any valid reason for this. I won't be returning to The Hungry Fox as I really feel that it has little to offer as things currently stand.

Our meals arrived cold and poorly presented. A query regarding an item missing from one of the meald was met with apathy, bordering on disdain from the staff member. Another member of staff was far more pleasant. I will not be returning to this establishment.

I came across the hungry fox accidentally, it is a fantastic find, Staff are welcoming and really try to help, Food is delicious, we have now been here 5 times over last few weeks and each occasion we receive exceptional service thank you

Christmas Meal for 18 - well presented, served and good value.

My hungry fox visit for a Christmas meal before Christmas with a friend was something to look forward to.... we both had a mini camambert starter which was absolutely gorgeous which we both really enjoyed very much.... its saying something though when you preferred and enjoyed your stater more than the main meal.... we both had the traditional Christmas Dinner... we didn't enjoy this... the turkey was slimy.. the pig and blanket was white... no colour.. the veg was still hard and the yorkshire pudding was certainly basic store bought.... before we had this meal weeks before we paid a deposit... only to find out one we left that evening we had been overcharged because we already paid the deposit.. bit of a disappointment to be honest because the food usually is beautiful here... I can't say I won't be returning because it may have just been one of those days.... but I'll certainly be on my guard the next time and make my decision then as to whether I'll be avoiding here in the near future

What a load of rubbish!!!! Empty restaurant and just two of us, left standing like idiots for ages to be told "bookings only until 1.30pm"????? In an empty restaurant at 12.25pm??? There were only 2 of us and they didn't seem to care!!! So no idea about food or atmosphere but would not bother to walk through the door again!!!

The portion for Macaroni cheese was pathetically small, you are give two hunks of virtually plain bread, only seasoning is a ton of Rosemary and lots oil on the outside. Also my pint of coke was only filled 3/4, bit stingy. Only one person on the bar but often isn't there to serve you because they off doing something else.

Staff were lovely. Lamb shank was spot on. Burgers were enjoyed by all only could have been a few more chips with them.

Good pub you can rely for @ Hempstead Valley, Giillingham. I enjoyed a nice pint of Guinness. If a pub can serve good Guinness 👍🏾 it says a lot.

It's a reasonable, modern pub with food at fair prices. There's plenty of parking, pleasant service and absolutely nothing to complain about at the Hungry Fox. There's just something about the layout that I really don't care for. Even if it were empty I would still struggle to choose a table that feels cozy and separate.

Had a meal for 20 people 2 meals still frozen. Streak was full of fat and over cooked orders were made week ago and still did not have everything

Haven’t been here for years so decided to try it for Sunday Lunch with the family. Will be returning again soon as the staff were really friendly and the restaurant and meal were lovely too.

I would like to thank the staff at the Hungry Fox for their service during our weekly trips to have dinner and drinks. You are made to feel welcome from the moment you walk in and then nothing is too much for them to provide us with an enjoyable evening. Great all round service is always given by Ryan, Kelly, Thalia, Gypsy, Lela and good food cooked by the chefs. Thanks Guys and keep up the good work.

After a long drive back from Wales, we decided to have dinner here. So, so glad we did. Fish and Chips...amazing! Staff, equally amazing...a credit to the manager! Thank you all. A lovely way to round off our holiday!

Just moved to the area and started eating in the Hungry Fox. The food is always hot and freshly cooked and tastes lovely. We have eaten here 4 times now and have met the chef and told him how great his food is. All the staff are really polite and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Really nice clean and decorated pub. We would highly recommend.

Walked in and the staff 😃 smiling and jolly, ordered at the bar barman was very good telling me about the new ales you have. Food was all nice on a deal 2 for 13.49. What we asked for we got 😉. Will be returning thank you.

Food is nice, service is quick. Normal pub grub on the menu and fairly priced.

There's a reason why this place is called the hungry fox. Its because even foxes leave hungry. In fact whilst 'eating' here we experienced a fox enter. Order food, wait for 45 minutes for its nachos, then another half an hour for its main only to leave with tears in its eyes and an insatiable urge to maul the owners. Luckily it didn't. It just left with its tail between its legs.

We attended as a group of 9. Staff were not very welcoming. Food was not up to a great standard either, chips were full of oil, naan bread was hard and a pathetic amount of sauce in burgers. Not to mention the crumble being raw. I will not be returning.

I Visit here on a regular basis to meet friends and play Warhammer. We are made welcome by Craig and friendly staff members. Drinks are fine and the food is of good quality. I certainly would not hesitate to recommend visiting here if you are in the area.

Good experience good service and good food

On a weekend there was no cucumber available. Child offered tomato instead which she didn't want. Carrot was not in sticks but cut in slices served in an enamel dish so looked a bit naff. Realised afterwards that there should have been a tomato sauce dip too. Also for same child, the pasta with tomato sauce was sadly lacking in tomato sauce, so she had ketchup on it to boost taste. Luckily she loves pasta on its own!! Adult meals were OK but shame about child's.
