The Hug & Pint in Glasgow City

Tolle Bar mit einem kleinen Saal im Keller, wo regelmäßig Konzerte stattfinden. Ich war hier für das Lost Romantic Konzert. Vorher hatte ich eine leckere Pizza und sehr gutes Bier vom Fass. Sehr freundliches Personal. Insgesamt sehr empfehlenswert.

Great small venus to get up close with lesser known bands and artists though i think some of the bands i have seen will be in bigger venues next time they come to Glasgow. Decent beer and not too pricey !

Don't waste your time buying a ticket to any show. Staff don't stay on the door to make sure ticket holders only access the gig. As you can imagine this leads to severe overcrowding as folk just sneak in which is really easy not only as the staff don't stay at the door to manage the area like they should be when shows are sold out but because the only toilet is at the back of the gig area. There is also no process in place to mark out giggoers from general patrons and as the bar downstairs can't be accessed due to overcrowding, so folk have to trail upstairs to use the main bar. We were seriously concerned about safety and also concerned about the lack of security present at the venue. Would not recommend and won't be back!

We like to support independent vegan/vegetarian restaurants whenever possible so was happy to try this place out. Walking in, it is not clear if one should seat self or wait - order at the bar or what - no signs or staff to direct. As suggested we ordered 4 small plates and rice. All the dishes were over spiced and we like spice. Beer was warm. Food clearly has potential and the vibe is cool and laid back overall, but service and spice level could be improved. Maybe it was an off night.

Awful experience. Really would not recommend. Turned up for a live music event, hardly any tap beers were available, bottled beers were warm. The place didn’t smell very appealing and this may be due to the frying pan in the open kitchen seemingly to be constantly on. This may also explain the “sticky” tables. Personally I would not have wanted to eat from the kitchen from what I saw. The “music” venue was very small, I won’t be coming back.

Great selection of drinks, crackin' venue downstairs for small crowd but sound was awesome and bands great ! On my list of favourite music venues in Glasgow now ! love it !

We really had a bad experience tonight and we will never be back. The staff looked really unhappy to be working and their service was really very poor. During the dinner I felt very unsettled and I felt I wasn’t welcome in the restaurant. When my friend went to pay, the staff member said they weren’t going to accept cash without really giving any explanation. My friend had to figure out on his own that this was in fact because of Coronavirus. When he questioned this point of not accepting cash but being open and serving food (only trying to have a open and honest conversation) the staff member walked away visibly upset saying “this is a stressful time” and insinuated that he was making it personal to her, which wasn’t the case at all. I think this is a stressful time for anyone, the government advises to wash hands after handling cash and anyway paying by card and touching the card machine surely is just the same as handling cash ?We feel like the behaviour of the staff was patronising and very immature ! Please explain to people that you are not accepting cash before people order !!

Nicht vorbeigehen! Es ist einfach super. Die Bedienung war sehr kompetent und nett. Das Essen wurde sehr schnell zubereitet. Etwas das mir sehr gefallen hat war, dass man den Köchen bei der Zubereitung zusehen konnte. Unter dem lokal gibt es noch einen Raum wo sie manchmal life Musik haben. Sehr empfehlenswert

The food was so tasty, I was pleasantly surprised. It seemed slightly silly that our entire table was ID'd as we sat down, but aside from that we ordered most dishes off the menu and they were all delicious. The interior could be improved but it's fine and worth going for the food. It was good they fitted us in quite last minute though so thanks.

Booked a table for 4 at 4:30 and when we arrived we were advised that we had to be out by 5:00. Explained that we had booked a table but apparently they had booked a larger party in for 5:00, so we were out. Disgraceful way to treat customers, what a terrible attitude to have towards people looking forward to a nice meal.

Love this bar, though i don't visit very often. Helpful, friendly staff. Great vegan food, Great atmosphere. Always enjoyable to go there.

No sabíamos que era vegano. Pedimos algunos buenos platos del menú y disfrutamos de las papas y el curry de jaca. Una persona con nosotros tiene algunos requisitos dietéticos y nos sorprendió saber que ninguno de los platos puede variarse o que se pueden proporcionar elementos que no sean del menú, ni siquiera una papa al horno o una batata. así que ella terminó con un poco de arroz apetitoso. la camarera explicó que la comida está preempacada y que solo podríamos tener lo que hay en el paquete. no volverá cuando haya tantos otros lugares que realmente le brinden comida recién preparada e intenten cumplir con los requisitos dietéticos. éramos los únicos clientes durante la etapa de nuestra estadía, así que tal vez otros llegaran a las mismas conclusiones que nosotros

Looking for vegan friendly food and we found The hug & pint, what a treat Lots of different dishes all wonderful, terrific flavours. Good beer and excellent friendly staff. Could have sat there all day. I would recommend this place to anyone, even if you are not into a Vegan lifestyle you ought to give the food a go. A good place to share as there are multiple bowls to pick from. If you are on Great Western road, look no further !

Had the three drinks and two dishes deal, which was great. Tried some nice new beers and a cocktail to celebrate our daughter's birthday. She's vegan so the menu was ideal.

There's not a single dish on the menu that I wouldn't recommend, and the staff and atmosphere are welcoming but relaxed. Innovative and delicious vegan food.

This Resturant is an absolute gem. The Resturant it’s self and the toilets are immaculate. The staff are are also friendly and accommodating; the Resturant boasts a welcoming environment. The food is reasonably priced and their is plenty of it too. You can order multiple dishes and share, which is rather nice too. You won’t be disappointed.

My most frequented restaurant since moving to Glasgow a couple of months ago. The food is always delicious; innovative without being showy, healthy but hearty, and constantly changing to reward repeat visitors like myself. I’m quick to take visiting friends here, and it’s all the better when we catch some music downstairs after food. Staff are always lovely, too. Highly recommended.

Didn’t leave a review right after we visited, but was here a couple months ago with my girlfriend and her family and had THE most amazing vegan meal ever!! Shared loads of plates, had great recommendations from our lovely waiter, such friendly service!! Amazing day! Leaving a review now as I work in hospitality and know how important these things are — wish I knew our waiters name! Also recently visited another similar restaurant in the west end, which has a massive hype, and was sooooo disappointed! Wish we had just came back here! Will return soon! I visited with my family on a quest to expand our understanding of vegan food after reading about the impact of meat and dairy farming on the environment. It exceeded expectation....appetising dishes, excellent service and choice of interesting beers. Jackfruit curry and Szechuan tofu were our favourites.

Why isn’t this restaurant/bar next door to our house???!!! Great venue, good wine and exquisite vegan food. There was a gig venue downstairs with local musicians doing their stuff. What’s not to like??

My friends and I were on a subcrawl through Glasgow and turned up at this bar. They immediately turned us away when they discovered we were on a subcrawl. None of us were causing any trouble and were willing to give them our money.

The Hug and Pint is a bar I have wanted to try out for a long time, but just never seem to get around to trying out, but happened to be in the area one Sunday afternoon and decided to pop in for a beer and some lunch.

Me and my friends first time eating lunch in the hug and pint was lovely yesterday! The guy who served us was wonderful and recommended the sweet soy and coconut tempeh, which was absolutely delectable. My friend was not aware that it was a restaurant serving entirely vegan cuisine so couldn't believe it when I told her it wasn't meat! For someone who is reducing meat from their diet and looking for alternatives, I was amazed, and since we now only live down the road will be visiting a lot more frequently! Thanks!

Much better than average place with a good bar and a range of vegan food. It isn't huge and can be quite busy, especially if there is a show on downstairs.

Cannot recommend this place enough. We basically ordered the whole menu (small plates of exquisite food) which were vegan, complex and filling. The atmosphere was lovely, and the service warm and friendly! Perfect way to spend an evening in rainy Glasgow! Thank you so much!

I took my wife here at her behest for a birthday treat and we weren’t disappointed. Ambience and decor basic, decent background music and friendly staff. Food served tapas style, small portions and sharing several dishes between two. No wine list but will sell a bottle of red or white if requested and good beer as well as other drinks including cocktails on offer. The food was very good and tasty. We had a very pleasant evening. If you’re looking for a vegan experience I would recommend the Hug and Pint.

We had a family dinner here and ordered a series of bowls of beautiful Asian fusion food. Tastes and flavours from the French vegan chef were just delightful. High recommend this wee place which also has a great live music lineup as well. Layed back and welcoming.

Ate here just prior to going downstairs to a gig. Weren't disappointed. Asian inspired small plates for sharing. Great bold flavours, perfectly executed. Loved the black pepper aubergine & the spiced lentil dishes. Less impressed with the jackfruit curry. Not because of the flavour or execution. I know jackfruit is very much in fashion just now & although it has a meaty texture & that is part of the appeal, it didn't do a lot for us. Plenty of other great stuff on the menu & we will definitely return, pre gig or otherwise. Excellent.

We happened upon the hug and pint heading into town on a rainy Friday afternoon hoping for a warm place to rest our legs and quench our Friyay Thirsts..

I took 3 non vegans for dinner and we ordered everything from the menu to share. The portions were generous and the food full of flavour. The chefs are creative and the staff friendly and there’s a great atmosphere. Would definitely go back one day!

What a greta vegan place with tapa style Asian food. The jackfruit curry and Aubergine dish were amazing. Glasgow is very lucky to have so many vegan venues.

Siempre buscando buenos restaurantes con opciones de comida vegana. ¡El abrazo y la pinta tienen toda la comida vegana! El estilo de las tapas, de inspiración coreana, la cocina vegana fue excelente. Probablemente la mejor comida vegana que he tenido. Estaba un poco limitado porque algunos de sus platos están hechos con frijoles negros, a los que soy alérgico, ¡pero no puedo culparlos por eso! Cada plato de tapas tenía una porción decente y tenía un precio muy razonable.

No soy vegano, pero disfruto probando cosas nuevas, así que vine aquí con un amigo. Conseguimos una buena oferta de brunch de 3 platos y 3 bebidas para 20 que era una buena relación calidad-precio, ya que había mucha comida. El plato de berenjena, en particular, fue excelente. El servicio fue realmente amable, incluso nos persiguieron por la calle para ver si éramos nosotros los que habíamos dejado caer nuestros guantes.

I’ve given this restaurant 4 stars based mostly on the people I was with. This restaurant serves Korean vegan food and pretty much all the people I was with who were vegetarian/vegan loved it. Personally I love meat so would have never have chosen this place but the rice was nice and the sauce in a tofu curry was nice and spicy. All in all if your vegan/vegetarian this place is good if not it’s worth a try.

We went for lunch and booked on the website. The food was amazing, really tasty and so affordable. We took 6 dishes to share and it was perfect.

I have eaten here many times now and have never been disappointed. The food is always super fresh and extremely tasty. I'm not a vegan or vegetarian so I'm always amazed at the depth of flavor and variety that can be created from vegetables! I think I've tried nearly everything on the menu now and its all been great. This seems to be the view of anyone else I've been with too - some of them vegetarian and others not. Service is efficient and friendly and it is excellent value for money, considering the quality. I'll be back!

Visited this place with my son who is keen on vegan food and, as a meat lover, I had my reservations but found the majority of the food on offer delicious. It is served in a tapas style giving you the opportunity to experience a variety of dishes. My favourite was the sweet soy and coconut tempeh

This place might not be everyone's scene, its a gig venue playing bizarre music and there's more people standing at the bar drinking than seating eating. However the food is fantastic! Staff are friendly and prompt. As someone who is a stern carnivore I was very impressed by this vegan restaurant.

Loved my visit to this place. Good range of drinks and a delicious range of vegan food all at reasonable prices. The venue is downstairs, it is small and dark and just right for an intimate gig.

My husband and I will give most food a go but I say no to peppers and he says no to coconut. This restaurant is tapas style and completely vegan. The food is made fresh and changes every day. We ordered 4 dishes and a rice between us which was plenty and we managed to lick the bowls clean. I was completely blown away with how good everything was. As I have a bit of a sweet tooth I asked if there was a dessert menu and the waiter said they had this coconut, mango, nutty thing (can’t remember the name) and ‘really twisted my arm’ into having it. It came and my husband was reluctant to try but then managed to eat more than me. The staff were awesome and really helpful. Please can move to my house and make me this delicious food every day! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

My granddaughter and my self ate there several times during my visit to Scotland. Great food , menu changed often. And every dish wounderful. Service was perfect . It is vegan but some of the best vegan ever.

We have a pint here and were impressed by the range of craft beers. The service was friendly and we were able to sit outside on a lovely evening.

The Hug & Pint is a combined pub, restaurant and concert venue with an asian-inspired vegan menu that changes regularly - I've been there several times and always find new things to try. It might sound like a place that attracts an alternative crowd, but in reality the clientele is pretty diverse and the atmosphere is very welcoming.

Después de haber visitado el lugar para el evento Alex patterson cometí el error de intentar conseguir un billete para otro evento. Qué extraño experiencia que era. Los eventos en línea como vendidos sin embargo cualquiera que ha asistido a muchos conciertos sabe que cualquier concierto tendrá devuelve o básicamente la gente que no puede hacer el espectáculo. Esta es la razón por vendedores y por qué existen entradas secundarias locales tendrá una lista de espera, sus devoluciones estándar para presentaciones musicales. Haber contactado con el lugar el primer miembro del personal estaba bien y me sugirieron que me llamó en el día para ver si los billetes fueron devueltos o, para ver de conseguir en lista de espera para el retorno. Esto es más probable cuando los eventos se reprogramaron que fue. En el lugar el día llamando al concierto fueron mucho menos servicial, obviamente una personal miembro, que dijeron que no iba a tener tiempo para llamar si entradas estaban disponibles. Básicamente, un miembro del personal dice una cosa y la otra se opone a ellos. ¿Cuánto tiempo hace una llamada de teléfono? Independientemente de que está jugando en este lugar me voy a asistir a debido a la actitud del personal, quizás deberían cumplir con las hamburguesas vegetarianas y dejar la música para los pros.

Came here to a gig and was highly impressed although I didn't have anything to eat the all vegan menu looked superb with plenty to choice from will defiantly give it a try on my next visit, the gig area downstairs is small but cosy and is perfect making you feel part of the group will definitely be back

Walked in just after 9 and asked if they were doing good. Was told yes, so ordered a drink. Thereafter followed a pantomime with me ordering food, the waitress taking the order and then coming back to me to say what I had ordered was off. This happened three times and by then the menus was so limited I gave up.

Despite the menu being really small I liked everything we chose. The hug and pint allow dogs in and just after our food had arrived a group with two huge dogs were seated right next to us (despite every other table being empty). The dogs were the size of our table and kept coming near the table which I did think was pretty unhygienic. The dogs kept barking and the staff did nothing about it. The owner of the dogs saw we looked over and asked if we had a problem with dogs. My husband told her he was allergic to which she replied 'tough!'

This is such a quirky and unique little place. Food is well priced and the menu changes everyday. We had a delious Asian insired dinner, washed down with local beer and a vegan white russian. Yum!

Not the best decor i have to say and a little pricey but my friend and i were nearby and me being vegan i wanted to try it. We shared 5 dishes, i particularly enjoyed the seitan, it was done in a coconutty/soya kind of sauce, so moreish and really delicious, pity the dish was really small. The other dishes were nice but it would be great if they increased the portion sizes a little.

I went with Stephens Niece and family for her birthday and whilst we will not become vegans the food was amazing! We sampled everything on the menu as there were 6 of us it comes out tapas style and worth trying! Only thing that we didn’t like was the rice pudding. Staff friendly service great and fair value for money. Try it if you fancy vegan food

The upstairs bar.... Looks nice. It does. The drinks are way over-priced though. It's not even like they have interesting drinks. It's bog standard stuff, that they charge far too much for.

Vinimos aquí para la cena y un par de bebidas y el lugar sin duda a la altura de su gran reputación! Pedimos 4 platos y dos tazas de arroz para compartir entre los dos de nosotros, que permitía muy grandes porciones - la próxima vez quizás sólo pide tres platos para dos personas.

I went to a couple of shows over a weekend. It is a tiny venue with no bar downstairs where the bands play. The sound is fine and the service upstairs was efficient, but not bad or good. It is not as shabby as some places in Glasgow, but lacks atmosphere. I'd happily go back to see another band but there are plenty of other options for a beer round here.

To misquote the famous Miss jean Brodie, those that like this sort of thing - vegan food - will like this sort of thing. Me, I don't mind vegan food; and nor do I mind Asian-style food (think mainly Japanese, I think, and a bit of Korean) which this restaurant/bar specialises in. However, I remember this place when it was the Liquid Ship and served more interesting food and had a far better ambience. The tables were set out like a soviet Russian canteen. The staff on the other hand were friendly and quick and attentive and always helpful and clearly not soviet trained.

Always a pleasure! Food is superb, atmosphere good, drink good, small but intimate gig venue. Real gem on the West End/city centre borderlands.

This is not a smart place, and I know little about Vegan/Asian food.The blackboard dishes need and get explained.I was sorry the simple staple of Coconut soup was missing.Food was fine and generous, however this place is just not for me.

I really like this place. It's simply furnished, clean and comfortable. The staff are always attentive and friendly without being gushy. The customers tend to be well-behaved young adults. I'm 2 or 3 times the average age but never feel out of place. The food is great and everything is vegan. There's no real ale but there is a choice of craft beers. I find background music very irritating but it's not too loud in this place.

Visited there this evening for a gig that was downstairs and was great. Came upstairs to get a drink and was met with rude staff with a chip on their shoulder and a ridiculous request to. It take a picture with a flash as people were upstairs eating. I must add I took ONE picture. Either prejudice towards me or completely up them selves!! It's not the ritz guys!! And even then I'm sure I could take a pic of my friends without being reprimanded! Won't be going back and I suggest if you want pictures of your night out with friends I would go there either!! Excellent gigs and a nice easy to get to location with lovely parking outside and the food is really nice too. Have been there many times and would return at more xx

I was taken to this fantastic little restaurant by our son on my 50th. A wide variety of vegan dishes. Excellent beer and a great atmosphere. I would warmly recommend a visit. Asian style vegan food for all!

We didn't know what to order, so just asked to be surprised. The food was incredible, we absolutely loved it.

Enjoyed a great gig in the downstairs room. We also ate, I really enjoyed the spicy Asian vegan food but my partner did not, not his thing. There was no choice for dessert and the only thing on offer did not look appetising. Service was good.

Was visiting Glasgow for the weekend and had booked a table in advance for 1830. The restaurant was already busy and free tables had reserved signs on them so it was worth booking. The menu is not vast but there is a good selection and the waitress was very helpful when we were choosing. The waitress also said that the menu changes very regularly so you would not be able to guarantee getting the same dishes on another visit. (This is mentioned on their website). The food was very fresh, service was quick and while it was busy, we did not feel any pressure to vacate our table. When we left there were people queuing for the gig and while we were aware of them, there was no impact on diners. A great wee place, good value for money and top of my list when I am next in Glasgow.

Run by music lovers for music lovers, this is a fabulous wee live music venue, where you can experience an eclectic mix of music genres with live music most nights in the very bijou basement venue, which offers a very intimate music experience, and is where you'll most likely find your new favourite band. The bar area is stripped back and laid back. The food menu offers a concise selection of delicious South East Asian dishes that are also vegan.

I went to a see Steve Ignorant,(Crass) playing at this venue.The upstairs of the venue is a nice place to have a drink,with a nice atmosphere.We also got something to eat too,which was quick and very nice.The actual gig venue is downstairs.It is a small venue,i'd never seen anything like it to be honest,but it made for a very interesting and intimate gig.I really enjoyed it and hope to see more bands playing there,or i might just go again for the upstairs pub.

Great food and music venue with upstairs for eats and downstairs for the music......not for anyone claustrophobic downstairs so be fair warned. Easy movement between the very different food and music zones butIt all worked well for me and my pals.....great mix of ages and backgrounds which is what a good venue is all about for me.

Great music, good atmosphere, and a fine selection of drinks, if a little pricey. Any bar with Mogwai skateboard graphics on the wall is my kinda place. I was never a huge fan of the old Korean food menu, but I'm looking forward to trying the new one!

Visited the Hug & Pint for the Lee Bains III show on 30th August.Fine selection of beers available from the upstairs bar (didn't eat on this occasion).Intimate gig space downstairs (plus gender neutral toilets, a new development!)Ample car parking available very close to the venue. Great wee sweat box!

Have only managed to get here a couple of times but the food is exceptionally good (and I love places that are imaginative with their vegan food!), bar staff friendly and it's a great wee intimate venue to boot. If I lived in Glasgow I'd be here every week!

Apart from the gig being excellent the staff at the Hug and Pint could have not been more helpful. I was walking with a stick at the time and the staff went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable ten star treatment, could not ask for any more.

I've been here on loads of occasions now for gigs, food and just drinks. The food is fantastic and so reasonably priced, great wee gig venue with really great bands and artists visiting it - everything from indie to jazz gigs can be seen, and all the staff are brand new!

Lovely range of vegan food options, super nice staff and lovely atmosphere. I visited to attend the Chris Staples gig. Food and gigs can't be beaten here.

Visited for a music gig.The room downstairs is small and claustrophobic and hot and when full god knows what would happen if there was a fire. It would be horrendous trying to get back up the stairs Never again!

Love this place - been to quite a few gigs there (considering we live about 400 miles away!). Always a great atmosphere and excellent sound.

The food here is always fantastic and I cannot recommend this enough. Great food, great vibe, great range of drinks what's more to say. I am looking forward to see what new treats the guys have in store here!
