The Hub Portreath in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

I had the meanest portion of scrambled egg on toast I have ever had !The portion of mushrooms I paid extra for were tiny bits of mushroom stalk cut up and would have fitted on a soup spoon .For over £8 this was a joke

We often grab a coffee whilst heading to the beach for a dog walk; and we’ve been meaning to try out the food. I was gutted to bring my friend and to be so disappointed in a time where eating out is a treat. I ordered American pancakes - after 25 minutes was told there were no blueberries as ordered, but was offered strawberries instead which I was ok with. What I got was two tiny pancakes, with ONE strawberry and 4 slices of banana. My friend had avo on toast and got one slice of cheap thin bread. Not at all what I had seen advertised on instagram and not value for money at all. The pro’s of this place are: -Lovely setting/ interior design and outside space - very dog friendly - nice coffee and cakes to take away - nice to see several veggie options Sadly, I doubt I will bother with food here again, which with limited places to eat in the area (especially out of season) is a shame.

Quick to take Oder. Food arrived promptly however no drinks arrived until about 10 minutes after we’d finished our food Then it was too hot to drink, mug of tea must be a pint mug, huge and too much to drink. People ordering take out drinks seem to get served quicker. Disappointing, it was busy but no excuse waiting nearly half hour for drinks. Shame! We’re local and probably won’t be back.

2nd visit this week. Lovely comfortable atmosphere. Love the decor and dried flower table decorations. Great choice menu. Very attentive and friendly staff both visits. Food quality is excellent and presented beautifully. Obvious great care taken with every order. Didn't get chance for cakes, but they look delicious. Love the Victoria sponge as a tray bake .

Amazing place for a nice meal with a great view and great prices. Staff have always been lovely every time we’ve visited. The new menu is smashing, we love the açai bowls :)

We have been for breakfast and lunch and thought the quality of the food the way it was presented was of high class the staff are all friendly and smile and make sure your ok will definitely be returning, as per some comments it’s not the cheapest but then it has the quality of better food, thanks to all the staff

Ordered crab sandwich, it was very poor value . Boring bread and far too much mayonnaise, couldn’t taste crab at all .Obviously not reliant on return business.

First visit & won’t be returning. Initial impressions of menu were ok although a bit pricey but unfortunately once again it’s a coastal cafe with a captive audience who aren’t concerned about the quality of the food they’re serving. Ordered a cheese & chutney sandwich which should have been on granary bread but instead was on small slices of cheap dry sliced white bread. The cheese was tasteless & sparse but the chutney tasted good. Served with a few crisps a bit of uninspiring salad & slaw! Well chunky red cabbage in a bit of mayo! Then there’s the crispy wedges, £6 for 7 wedges & a spoonful of chilli sauce, what a disgrace. The tuna melt was also underwhelming with minimal filling. I was actually quite shocked at how poor this all was to be honest & definitely don’t recommend you stop here!

We’ve been for breakfast 4-5 times now since it opened and the service and food are definitely improved since the first visit when hubby had a blackened frisbee for an omelette! It’s much better, coffee is great but one thing that puzzles is that the chef insists on serving scrambled eggs on toast with butter on the side! How’s that work then?! Lol

An excellent choice to eat in Portreath. We eat there a few times during our stay in Portreath and every time was perfect. If you’re really brave try the double waffle for desert . Very dog friendly too 👍

After waiting 47mins for a crab sandwich, I cancelled my order as I couldn't wait any longer. After bimbling about on the card machine, the lady told me I would be refunded in 7days. It took her 10mins to tell me this, as at first, they couldn't find my order and then said someone else took it, then another one said that the order hadn't gone through to the kitchen. It wasn't even busy. They made me feel like I was trying to get a free sandwich and lying about my order. I was so angry but kept being polite. Anyway..... 2weeks later I still haven't been refunded. Where's my £13????

After finding Tehidy woods cafe "closed indefinitely" on a rainy day, we headed for Portreath. The first place we saw was probably fine but then we saw "Pod" just across the road and decided give it a try. Good decision. Staff were friendly, menu choices were good, and prices pretty much in line with what we are now getting used to after rampant inflation making everything more expensive. Food was nicely presented, tasty and good-sized portions. Our two grandchildren (8 & 10) found plenty of things to choose from and thoroughly enjoyed their meals and milk shakes, as did we. We'll certainly visit again after our next Tehidy woods walk as it's only a few minutes away by car.

We are regulars couple times a week for coffee and two or three times a month for food we love it food great prices right staff great what’s not to like! Always accommodating espionage on days when we bring mum in the wheelchair.

This is an excellent beach side cafe. The menu is very extensive and what I got, my family got and what I saw coming out looked excellent. All the dishes we order were of excellent quality. Whilst visiting the beach, we would use for coffee and ice cream and again, very high standard. If the weather is good, sit outside, if you can. Very relaxed atmosphere. The staff were very helpful and polite as well. Highly Recommended!!

This place was amazing!! They were so accommodating, putting tables together and splitting sundaes into two glasses so my kids could share. Food and coffee were delicious and staff were so friendly. A highlight of our holiday!

The place is just so dreadfully dirty, the skirting boards are all filthy, the tables and floors grubby and then the toilet...Oh my gosh, the tiles below the hand drier are stained brown (never a good look in a bathroom!) and filthy, this brown filth...

We visited in December just before Christmas. We had a very helpful and friendly waitress. One of our party is Coeliac and was able to have gluten free food here. The food was lovely and we will definitely come again.

Stopped here today for a drink. Had 2 lovely Chai lattes which were very tasty. Also had a sausage roll that wS very good. Plenty of hand sanitizer and one way system. Drinks and sausage roll ready for collection very quickly. Friendly helpful staff and felt very safe here.

Last year I enjoyed a cream tea here so I thought that I would visit again this year. I decided just to have a scone and butter instead of a cream tea. I was charged £3.50 for the scone. I will not be returning

From the outside, this cafe doesn’t look much, but the food and interior is lovely! We had fish finger sandwiches and pizzas, and they were all so tasty! The milkshakes are amazing also. Would highly recommend!

We stayed in Portreath and visited the Hub every day for coffee, cake and sometimes lunch. We also enjoyed Katie’s Cornish hot pot when we arrived and were sad it got cancelled before we left due to the weather but that is no fault of the Hub. Highly recommended.

Simply perfect tuna and cheese melt (Ordered without red onion for me) and Fab nachos for the beach. Another day sampled a gorgeous hot choc on the terrace complete with cream and flake and served at a decent temperature unlike most. Great spot. Covid system in place so all good. A bit slow on service but otherwise great.

Came here for lunch on a rainy afternoon midweek. our table was cleaned well and there was hand sanitiser on each individual table which was a nice touch! everything was single use so there was no fear of cross contamination! we ordered 3 sandwiches, a coffee, 2 teas and a cream tea. the food came quickly and tasted really fresh. amazing quality for the price you are paying!

Family visit - kids loved epic shakes. Adults loved the cakes. Very good service too. Well organised for distancing.

Had take away Pizza from the Hub. A chicken, pepperoni and sausage meat mix that really worked well. Crisp and tasty. Lots of seating and just opposite the beach for a quick take away.

Walked into Portreath and popped in for a coffee. But the cakes were so tempting we had to have a muffin each to go with our cuppa. The chocolate orange one was so delicious and gluten free so added bonus . Our dog was made very welcome too with a bowl of water and a treat. We will be back again next time we visit.

Superb refurbishment of premises. Excellent coffee. Wonderful stock of St Eval candles and hand lotions. Amazing scents. I wish the new owners all the best in their new venture.

Great cafe (!) except staff members gossip about customers after they have left. Staff only told customer that cafe was closing in a few mins (3:00 although USUALLY 4:00) after they came to the counter after coming in and sitting down for at least 5 minutes prior. Customer unhappy that they didn’t say anything before to which the staff member was adamant that the closing time was on all of the signs. Staff then complained to the others about what the customer had said as soon as they had left. Staff member was not even correct at all as on the biggest sign it did indeed say 4:00. A brilliant Café but unfortunate to know that staff may talk about you behind your back - not even waiting until ALL customers have left. Shame that this is not the first review on this kind so steps have obviously not been taken.

Tasty coffee, great log burner and good vibes. The food is very well put together with sandwiches served with a delicious mixed salad (not always the case Cornish cafes). Well priced too! Win win. Thanks.

Popped into the Hub Portreath today for a quick coffee. Unfortunately, nobody greeted me at the counter and I had to wait a rather lengthy time to be served. Coffee was fine, however all I could hear was two older female staff members talking negatively about other members of staff. Having a chit chat is perfectly fine, yet the manner in which they were talking was extremely unprofessional. I will not be returning to the Hub Portreath again.

We started off with breakfast, which was delicious. Smashed avocado, bacon and halloumi on sourdough bread was just what the doctor ordered!After breakfast we rented out two bikes and rode the coast to coast trail. It was so much fun and easy to do. It's a lengthy trail however it is pretty much flat throughout with many break stops on route.I'd really recommend the hub portreath food and bike rental. The staff are really friendly too and a happy to answer any questions.
