Brilliant little BCA pub in the High Street. Its dog friendly larger than it looks and has changed a lot in 40 years. At least they had a dark ale on have had . else where. Then on to 3 others that all tasted the same with a pungent taste spoiling what should have been decent ales. Hopefully new gaffer will sort and make it the best pub in the village again.

Brown haired lady with cool glasses at the bar remembers us from before, even though we hadn't been in for a while. She stayed calm during service and promoted a great atmosphere. Never a bad experience here!

Nicely done out. Good selection of beers ... (Though they need to get Mena Dhu on as a fairly regular choice). Outdoor space, which is great.

This is a great pub with a huge selection of beers. The highlight was the lovely beer garden on one of this year's rare sunny afternoons.

You will never taste cobs like them anywhere else - absolutely massive full of filing . A great pub , very friendly with live entertainment and always a welcoming atmosphere. You won’t be disappointed!

A good choice of ales and bar snacks here. I had a BFG and a pork pie for £6.55. Good service, sports on the screen and plenty of bar snacks. The cobs looked impressive, and next time I'll try one. Small outdoor area and little hideaways in you want some privacy.

I haven't eaten in here, but have popped in a few times for a drink .They have a good selection on tap and like a few other pubs in Penkridge it's dog friendly.

Great Saturday afternoon spent in very good surroundings and plenty of choice of real ales and the ham salad cobs are great.

Went for a birthday, they have a selection of sandwiches, pork pies, pies and sausage rolls, I never tried, they looked alright. Good variety of ales and ciders. Toilets are located upstairs, without a child changing station, no high chairs provided either, I can understand its not a place to take a baby, however, if you're going ro have a party there you'd at least think they have a couple as back up.

Great local pub with 10 real ales on and a great landlord who was accommodating for upto 50+ Crewe fans. The fresh baguettes, pork pies, sausage rolls looked and was told were delicious. Beers great and the log burner made the place comfortable.

Beers are brill had a good friend and his wife down from Bolton. On the Beers alone it would have been a star review the only fly in the ointment was the fight that broke out.

Just to say there was an emergency episode here today and the licencee and barmaid were extremely professional, caring and accommodating , great pub , lovely cobs ☆☆☆☆☆

First time we have been (with family), great cosy typically country style English pub, lovely open fire, great friendly staff, large selection of drinks/ beers, not a restaurant but very nice hot & cold bar food available, great atmosphere - will be 🔙

My wife and I popped In today as part of our Christmas shopping expedition. It's a lovely pub after being renovated by Black Country Ales a couple of years ago, so well done there. The problems started when I tried to get served at the bar and quickly realised that the staff weren't paying as much attention as they should. I waited patiently to get served for 10 minutes only to see people who joined the queue 2 minutes ago being served first, not good in my opinion. When I finally got served with a pint of Carling and and pint of Madri only to faced with a bill of well over £9. What a total ripoff! Carling was £4.65 which is the most I've ever paid for in my local area. You won't see me there again anytime soon!

Friday was not the best night for a quiet drink. Warm and friendly although there were some very very loud people with kids late on.

Happened upon this place by chance, was in Penkridge for an event at the village hall. So glad we found this place, what an incredible selection of beers on offer! Reasonably priced, expecially for the pork and stuffing bap! Quite enjoyed the Hallowe'en themed playlist, they'd really gone to town with the decorations too. A huge nicely kept outdoor area. Imagine Friday/Saturday night it's a busy pub, we'd popped in of a Sunday afternoon, so wasn't too busy.

This is one of the best pubs around a great part of the Black Country Ales group. Cobs are out of this world and great choice of ales and ciders.

Perfect example of a proper pub. Phenomenal range of beers and ciders and even a perry. Quite substantial bar snacks avaliable that looked good. Most definitely not a restaurant, but I think they'll let you order in food from elsewhere. Diverse and friendly.

Not been since the place was refurbished...loved it. Great choice of ales etc, no hot food but the crusty cobs were awesome as were the samosas. Great pub.

With my pint of lager(one I hadn't tried before) I had a ham and salad cob. It was massive. Needed knife to cut into four but not complaining. Couldn't believe the price, just £3 for the cob.

Fantastic side road pub that serves real ales from the black country brewery . There are stunning cobs sold at the bar at dinner times and plenty of places to park your bum. I would definitely recommend this place for a pint with friends or family.

Great pub most welcoming stopped off for couple of hours going to football good beer staff great deffo call again on next trip to midlands..return to the horse and jockey this weekend on another football trip all our party of nearly 50 made welcome with great beers and tasty food there takeout for coach trip were brilliant 2 hours well spent will Deffo be returning on next trip...great bar staff by the way really quick with orders..
