frankly very good breakfast at around 10:30 - good quality and quantity (hence 4 stars) - but we were on the verge of walking out by the time the meal was served. Will try again

All staff at the Bridge house were great. Very welcoming, great food and tasty pints. We'll be back.

Worst carvery in the entire planet. under cooked veg,smash served with lumps..frozen half cooked roasts. Chef has got no heart in the food. Poor miserable service

The worst experience in dining, the carvery... well where to start, the mash was smash with lumps, the roasts were half frozen including the green beans. The cabbage was raw sitting in luke warm water. The meat was dry and must have been cooked the night before. The chef and staff are miserable. Won't be returning.

First impressions- slightly run down pub with cold draft coming through. Abrupt waiter. Cavery- very tasty lots of sides and chef very friendly. Recommend the cavery.

To be honest I was very sceptical that the meal was going to be any good judging by the somewhat 70s feel of the place. I was wrong, the staff were friendly and the chef was very careful to make sure that I had my gluten free needs catered for. I had the best steak I think I have ever had there, it was all cooked to perfection and the staff could not have been more helpful. Really fab.

Wonderful food absolutely amazing

Needs a good clean not the best ground in dirt on floor tiles on the way to toilets . Just not clean enough dust and dirt very of putting won't go back .

Was very disappointed over the breakfast very poor for £9.95 one egg bacon 2 sausages cheap beans 1 mushroom small 1 hash brown no toast. No tea at Cyril tea room for £10.95 we had toast 2 slices included tea or coffee black pudding tomato beans hash browns eggs bacon for a pound more when you try to help local businesses as live local would not recommend the bridge house for quality or good value at all

Tasty sandwich sat outside with a beer, satisfied completely with my visit!!

Showers are filthy rooms are tiny noisy smelly and falling apart. Sheets had stains on and I had to request fresh clean sheets. Didn't even dare to order food.

Went for lunch only. Excellent food at a reasonable cost. Dining are could do with a bit of tlc. Otherwise good.

Well, todays Sunday Lunch was the BEST ever x honestly, we pop for sunday lunch whenever we are home (we travel a lot) and although very busy today, food and service was great. Good Job Team Bridge House

We like to try local pubs , this one was empty when we arrived and that’s usually a bad sign However the member staff probably the owner was friendly . The quality of the breakfast was poor Luke warm and the mushrooms had been fried to death. They resembled peanuts. Doubt if they were even fresh , very cheap beans bacon was nice but overall I’ve had much better. Plus it wasn’t cheap the dearest I’ve paid in a long time . I won’t be visiting again.

Visited purely for a lunch and service and location were very good specially as they were awaiting large booking from the close funeral activity. Food very good and tasty and of a reasonable price

Literally a 'no frills' type of guest house. That's why I gave the 3 stars.....however, I have to say that the bed I slept in was amazingly comfy

Been here a couple of times for the Sunday carvery, excellent 👌 food and value for money and good service.

My dad attended a special event here and paid £15 for his dinner but ended up with 2 cobs! Also one of the other guests ended up with nothing after paying. The food was all foreign and so didn't like it but wasn't offered anything else or given a menu to chose from? Discusted with this as my dad is a 86 and was part of a special event group booking. No menu offered before the booking and so they had what was given, which was 2 cobs for my dad. In a world where money is tight and cost of living is high, you don't need to be ripped off by people like this especially as the group attended that pub every week on a Monday. So they were regulars, but if he was going to limit the food they should of been told before booking and paying!

Funeral wake held here and staff were friendly and food was excellent.

Lovely carvery for £10, with the biggest Yorkshire puddings. Very reasonably priced for a Sunday and will definitely be back as the food is delicious.

Very friendly team nice to sit outside in the sunshine. Now we are dealing with the "new world " but menu was very basic and feel over priced for what was on the plate.

Went for a meal, nice food good value for money

Popped in for a meal and a beer. Excellent value on the 2 for £12 menu and my pint of Thornbridge Jaipur was in great condition.

First time here ok i suppose you get what you pay for not the best . The Desserts a bit below what you expect . Would we go again , not in a hurry would get better elsewhere . Had a small problem with the bill ,Overcharged and then when corrected still found out i had been overcharged again by a £1 after being £10 overcharged before .

Held my Mothers wake here as she had lived in Penkridge for over 40 years. The buffet was good, they made separate sandwiches for 2 people with food allergies. There was plenty of food for our small group . The staff were pleasant and courteous. The pub is spacious and a nice place to meet up. Would definitely recommend.

We dident stay in the hotel, but popped in for food. Staff/ownder was lovley. I had the steak and it was one of the best. Cooked to protection by the chef, Come with home made chips and peas 😋 my partner had the fully loaned steak baguette. Which she also said was absolutely beautiful 😍. Great choice of puddings which are all top quality. Best of all most meals are only arround £13. Beers and drinks are also great. Will be visiting again for sure. Keep up the good work. And a massive thanks to the chef who done us fantastic meals

An excellent venue for meals and comfortable bar for quiet drink. Very pleasant staff who are always welcoming and cheerful. Certainly recommended for Sunday lunch.

Called in last Sunday for a carvery. Food was lovely and the service was fantastic. Starting to look a bit tired now. If this place got a link of paint it would get the full 5 🌟.

A fantastic carvery ! Great tasting food plus veg from the carvery can be added to the set menu meals. Staff efficient and welcoming. I honestly could not fault anything ! We’ll done - we will be back with family !!

Because I am veggie that catered for me as well ,food was 100% and staff we great we had a wonderful stay there would go again.

Delicious carvery lunch. Roast beef was cooked to perfection and the victoria sponge was lovely. Service was great and quick. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Stayed here on our way to Somerset and again on our way back. The staff are very welcoming, James is an excellent chef and his breakfast is second to none, and we also had our evening meals here which didn’t disappoint. The room was clean and very comfortable, the only downside was the walls are a little thin! But absolute value for money and one we would definitely recommend.

Disappointed. We’ve been going here on and off for years. it’s been over 12 months since the last time. I think perhaps it might be the last time for us. Tough and dry meat and frozen vegetables. We were served cauliflower cheese which tasted of nothing, no sign of cheese at all, yellow sauce of some kind. We were hungry so ate the majority of it. There was no atmosphere. I believe in using local businesses but if they continue serving food such as this, they won’t last long.

We had cottage pie it was delicious and the children chicken nuggets meal was big and lovely the staff very obliging

Lacked any atmosphere, Lasagne was undoubtedly from previous day, Veg curry more of a tomato sauce with veg. Lunch menu had only main meals no light bites or sandwiches despite online menu offering many. Overall very dissatisfied.

Me and the wife love the Sunday roast, the place is clean and tidy, even in these tough times with Covid 19 the set up is quite good, I would recommend.

Great lunch on a Thursday, we had the lasagne, plenty of social distancing measures in place, good portions, we could see an outside area for drinks too.

the meal we had was sweet and sour chicken and rice and ham egg and chips salad the chicken was in a soggy batter and the rice was tasteless, the ham was very fatty and the chips were soggy the salad was ok and so was the egg the place was filthy and empty so alarm bells should have rung and the toilets needed a good overall waste of money will not return hardly could park but everybody must use there car park on market days

Just had the best pub food ever. Apologised too the chef for not eating everything. Big mention too Emily fabulous service and so attentive,really nice girl.

Great meal had a Sunday carvery good value for money

The lemon chicken is literally chicken nuggets and lemon curd with packet rice and we're very bland. The omelette and chips however were lovely!

We booked the Bridge House for my father's wake and from the initial enquiry by phone to the actual wake, the manager Raj and staff have been very helpful. The restaurant, food and setting were spot on and couldn't fault anything at all. Thank you. Definitely recommend.

excellent venue for a family meal , went along today as a party of 14 ( we had pre booked ,) warm welcoming staff , helpful and courteous . Very tasty starters / mains and desserts , very accommodating with specific requests . Would highly recommend .

Beef casserole was full of fat tasted like dog food served with frozen peas and carrots witch you can buy from the freezer centre for 80 pence disgusting meal my daughter had a mixed grill the steak was raw you couldn’t chew the chicken it was that dry chips were full of fat could not eat first time l have left a restaurant hungry the other meals we had were not any better. The meal was well over priced. Sorry to say l would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. 1 out 10 rating

Tidy room,pleasant staff,great short stop place

We went for a sunday lunch and although we had not booked they found us a table but were honest enough to say that they did need the table in just over an hour which was fine, the food was hot and very nice with a good range of vegetables not just peas and carrots, really enjoyed the dinner and have been back again and the food was just as good.

Not many eating, don't know why food was excellent.

Visited recently for Breakfast with a group of friends on a Hen Day out, this was part of our day. I had poached eggs on toast, beans and mushrooms, plus tea. There was a bit of a mix up with my friends breakfast that was rectified and everyone enjoyed it. What would give it the 5 star for me would be a complimentary slice of toast to go with the breakfasts, to have butter and jam or whatever on. The mushrooms were lovely

Enjoyed pleasant tasty carvery. Three meats on offer with plenty choice veg and proper Yorkshire puddings. A good meal the only thing letting it down was that it was not piping hot. Had meal been popped into microwave for a couple of minutes just to literally give it some heat, would have been excellent however as it was a carvery, it was unfortunately only warm.
