Sunday Lunch for a family group we had Scotch Egg (perfectly done with soft egg yolk) and Rarebit starters and Roast Sirloin for main and a variety of sweets. All were very well presented and tasted and looked excellent. Perfectly done Sirloin and a very good selection of perfectly done vegetables. The whole party was very pleased with everything it was perfect. As was the service. 3 of our number were a little late and my apologies to Tammy for that. This is not the first time we have been on a Sunday and certainly won't be the last Excellent in every respect. Would I recommend The Horse and Jockey most certainly. Well worth a trip anytime. Great meu's great staff and great food could you ask for more?

Perfect roast, sirloin of beef was great quality and cooked beautifully. Veg was fresh and roast potatoes and Yorkshire really tasty with the most delicious gravy!

8 of us went for my birthday treat, the food and service was excellent, we all ordered different meals from a great choice menu, and the quality and service did not disappoint. The staff keep us topped up with drinks as well as serving the food, it’s a very well run restaurant and I would highly recommend it to everybody. We will be back.

We went for Sunday lunch and it was a delightful experience. The Staff were friendly and helpful and the food was just delicious.delicious. I had the steak and it was melt-in-your-mouth gorgeous and so flavoursome. Highly recommend.

Have not been here for a while but was not disappointed. Had the Catalan fish stew which was excellent and my wife had Tuna stake that she absolutely loved. The services was delightful but efficient and we were greeted with a warm welcome when we arrived. Definitely will not leave it so long to go again. It's well worth it.

Taken there by our friend. Staff very pleasant and helpful. We had Beef lunches x 2 and a Fish, without chips but with requested salad. All meals were plentiful and very tasty.😋 Wife had Chocolate brownie with ice, she said was also very tasty. Coffee was also good.

We visited on a Wednesday evening and although we ate early, the restaurant and bar soon filled up. Lovely restaurant. Tables spaced out, comfortable and nicely decorated. Fish stew was really tasty and hot. Lovely flavour with flakey white fish, chorizo and several large prawns, accompanied by warmed bread. It was a large filling dish. Barnsley chop was tender and Greek salad was a nice side. Really enjoyed and would definitely recommend. Thank you to all involved.

Excellent meal last evening with my wife to celebrate my 84th birthday. The food was first class and the service prompt and the staff ( owners) so very friendly. This has become our favourite restaurant in the locality and is well worth a visit. We shall return shortly probably for my wife's birthday in August.

We have now visited this restaurant about a dozen times, so it's time for a review. My wife and I love this restaurant. I think an owner/chef (Darron) combination really works, so the food is consistently of a high standard and delicious. Mushroom Croquettes—yum! Pork with Crispy Skin—yum!! The menu is varied in cuisine, types of protein, and a vegan dish. Tammy and Will always look after us so well. Oh, and on the wine front, all the wine we have tried so far has been delicious. Ask Tammy for her wine recommendations. She nails it every time.

My father and I have been visiting the Horse & Jockey every couple of weeks over the last few years. We have always had exceptional food, especially the fish, at a reasonable price. The restaurant is very beautiful and clean and the people running the restaurant are friendly, helpful and welcoming. Can't recommend enough.

Absolutely faultless; service, beer, wine, drinks and food. Good wine menu and good choice of food. Main meals gargantuan, be warned! Prices not ridiculous either.

Came here for something a bit different one midweek lunchtime.e Food was outstanding, service was exemplary by a couple of young interested waiting staff. Several tables occupied by a mixture of diners giving the place a pleasing ambience. Catalan Stew was superb

Absolutely smashing Sunday lunch. I had the beef, lovely thick sliced meat and veg. Weird little yorkshire but all-in-all a very nice meal. Wife had tuna and was very pleased with her choice. First time visit, won't be the last!

Nice place and the staff were really friendly. Menu looked really nice, starters good. So then came the main courses everything with chips only (frozen) including my wife's Caesar Salad. To add to that the chips tasted of fish, although only 1 of the 4 mains included a fish dish. Massive error, a commercial kitchen should always use a separate fat fryer for fish. Real shame, but if you have allergies maybe give it a miss!

Food amazing. Great value for money

I’ve seen this venue recommended on TikTok and it sure didn’t disappoint! Myself and my partner tried it for the first time today taking my mum out for her 84th birthday. We are a family of foodies who have been lucky enough to eat in some amazing restaurants but I have to say, we have NEVER eaten roast beef this good … ever!! We asked our host how it’s cooked as we were so keen to know how it’s so tender and flavoursome. We managed to squeeze in some Pistachio ice cream for desert which was also an OMG moment! We will definitely be coming back as soon as possible! Thanks so much to the team for a wonderful lunch.

We came with our friends for Sunday lunch and had a great time. The chicken I chose was very flavourful and delicious. Service was the best we have experienced for a long time. It’s not cheap but great value when you consider the quality of the food and overall experience

We had an excellent Birthday occasion for our son in great surroundings. Will and Tammy were so welcoming in the bar and restaurant. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they made our son and daughter in law so relaxed and comfortable with their baby, which in British restaurants today is often unusual. Rhys and Calum in the kitchen excelled themselves too, with an array of delicious dishes. Fish Pie, Moules Marinières, Aubergine & Cauliflower Tagine and Steak and Ale Pie all proving excellent! I thoroughly recommend a visit.

Had a truly excellent Sunday lunch here recently. It is a very nice gastro-pub with a warm welcome, excellent service, good beers and great wines. We’ve been before and always enjoyed our visit. But the star on Sunday was the outstanding food presented to us. Quality and quantity were just superb and made for a truly memorable lunch. I highly recommend this place for high quality but relaxed dining, whether it’s just the two of you or a larger group.

Highly recommended. Wonderful food and good value. Cheerful staff. Catalan fish soup, halibut, sea bream and 3 bird pie all very moreish. The pie was full of meat.

Slow service. Raw vegetables. When complained that parsnips were not cooked was told they were an extra and not part of the dish!! Really? Why put undercooked veg on the plate even if an extra? Got the impression they were concentrating so much on the larger tables that they neglected is and also ran low on veg! Also ordered a zero alcohol beer and was given a normal beer. When I pointed this out the barman apologised and said that he was not told that and said am I ok with the drink? No i am driving hence the request for zero alcohol. All in all a really disappointing experience. Perhaps the wrong day but even so really poor customer service. Just accept you got it wrong and don’t try to deflect the issue. I know friends have now cancelled- shame!

A fantastic lunch at a pub we've not been in for a few years now. Excellent value set lunch menu which was tasty, filling and just all round very good. The pie was excellent as was the sticky toffee pudding. The two ladies who served us were friendly, very efficient and looked after us. A really pleasant visit.

Great place for a meal with a group !! Very busy inside with a great atmosphere and warm feeling. All the food was really well made, especially the octopus which I never thought I would order but I took the chance and it was delicious.

The food as always was excellent! In particular the Catalonian Fish stew was divine. It is rare to find bith high quality fish and excellent beer. The Sidepocket for a Toad (Tring) was both superbly kept and really good value for money. As usual the service was excellent.

An excellent dinner on a Friday evening. Staff and service were excellent as always as was dinner we managed three courses mains being Ribeye Steak and Dressed Crab the whole experience was really pleasant as it always is. This is my first choice for eating out and for me it never varies from Excellent. I would certainly recommend you visit, I do regularly.

On arrival we were greeted by very pleasant staff, and this continued throughout the evening. Not only was our food delicious and perfectly cooked we found the prices to be very reasonable for the food and wines. Amazing Caribbean Buffet delivered to our door by the Horse and Jockey at Ravensden for a family event. The food was fantastic, jerk chicken and pork, red snapper all complimented by amazing salads, sides and Tropical Cheesecake. The menu was specially created for us and the service was outstanding. The family was suitably wowed and made for a really special event. Highly recommended!

Fantastic Sunday roast at The Horse and Jockey. The roast beef is unbelievably good, probably the best roast in Bedfordshire.

A great welcome with attentive service. Wine list was excellent and good value. The halibut was outstanding. Vegetables were perfectly cooked. And the chips were amazing. We'll be back.

No atmosphere, menu choice was poor, food very standard , and service poor. Such a shame this used to be a little gem but has seriously gone down hill since new owners! Will not be back!!

Very nice pub, friendly staff. Had Sunday lunch, two had the beef which have to say was tender and moist one of the best I've ever tasted. I unfortunately chose the lamb, which was disappointing. Excellent veg and very generous and did their best to accommodate certain food intollerances. Wouldn't hesitate to go back, but will choose the beef :)

Although I usually have one of the fish meals for which this gastro Pub is renowned, today I instead tried the onglet 8oz steak with a pepper sauce, watercress and chips at £22.00 and was not disappointed. I ordered the steak blue at which level it was served and was delicious. The worst that I can say is that the watercress was perhaps more of a garnish than a full serving but the steak more than than made up for this. Speaking to the chef afterwards I was warned that this cut of beef was best served on the rarish side as overcooking could turn it into leather. As it was it melted in my mouth. Superb. My colleague had the half lobster at £30 and said that too was excellent.

I had the pork belly, it was beautifully cooked and the owners and staff were very polite, pleasant and accommodating.

We popped in for fabulous lunch of tomato and red pepper soup served with warm sourdough bread before going for a long walk around the village . We returned to sit in the pub garden to enjoy the evening sun. In the restaurant we ate mushroom croquettas followed by fresh dressed crab with celeriac remoulade. All totally delicious and served with charm and ease by the team . Would totally recommend this pub for lunch or dinner . Thanks Horse and Jockey! Oh and the deserts were gorgeous too !

A Sunday lunch which was full of taste, served hot, with fresh veg. The beef was pink as I like and can be cooked to your liking and half a chicken. We thought we had found the best Sunday lunch, but is the new go-to for a remarkable Sunday lunch.

We loved the variety of fish dishes available, quite different from most Pubs that focus on meat dishes. The halibut with gnocchi was particularly outstanding. The wine selection is also good as were the desert (panacota) and starters (squid rings with sweet chili sauce). Fair price for the quality.

From my initial email correspondence, I felt how friendly and accommodating the Horse & Jockey would be. We weren’t disappointed as arriving today for Sunday lunch we were met with a very warm welcome and shown to a delightful table. We booked for 3 and a dog and I honestly thought we’d be popped onto a side table in the bar area but we had a very comfortable table by the window! Perfect. Water came for our dog too. How thoughtful. The food was absolutely delicious in every way possible and asking for more gravy & horseradish wasn’t an issue whatsoever. Thank you so much for our delightful lunch & treating us so well. We will look forward to our next visit.

This is our ‘go to’ restaurant as the food is excellent as is the service. The menu is not too large (I hate being presented with huge menu choices as the food quality is never good) and the choices are interesting and all delicious and reasonably priced. The service is friendly and efficient. For the person complaining about being charged for bread - what do you expect? They do not charge highly for their meals so cannot be expected to provide items free as it cuts into their profit. Businesses are struggling at the moment, particularly those with high energy costs, so to expect freebies on top of a reasonably priced meal is unrealistic and unreasonable! It may be one piece of bread to you but if every customer expected something free they would go out of business!!

Adored my lunch, I had the lamb chop it was unreal delicious. Everyone loved their meals. I'm very fussy so not finding fault was a shock. It is certainly on the pricey end of things. It's nice for an occasion but wouldn't make a regular trips even though we live opposite the pub purely because it is so expensive. The interior is beautiful and fresh, light and airy.
