Visited for a meal when passing through Lincoln based on a google search for a dog friendly pub. The food was delicious, proper pub grub (Guinness braised beef stew is not to be missed!), and all the staff were hugely friendly and welcoming, particularly to our furry friends. Definitely worth a visit/would recommend!

Visited on a bitterly cold January day hoping for a warm cosy pub for lunch! The waiting staff were very friendly and efficient and the food was hot and tasty. Unfortunately the pub itself was freezing cold with even the waiting staff commenting on how cold it was, made the visit less enjoyable

Friendly welcome on this cold lunchtime. Table service which was efficient. Food arrived in a timely fashion with appropriate time between courses. Food was both tasty and well-presented. A good experience and would recommend.

Excellent food, good option for drinks, and relatively fast delivery of orders. Great warm environment. I highly recommend Horse & Groom.

Delicious dinner, which was cooked to perfection. We had the pork belly and vegetarian meal, both of which were excellent. Friendly, professional service by the waitress. Reasonably priced.

Absolutely fantastic pub meals at restaurant quality. Really, really enjoyed our evening with amazingly good service. Even has EV charging points in the car park. Good luck with the Lincolnshire tourist award!

Went for our work Xmas meal and very good food and service . Recommended

My food was delicious salmon,a few burnt vegetables though The butternut squash soup would be better with butter for the toast/ bread. The service was extremely slow , it is the second time I have attended a group meal there.This time we were a group of 19.The pub was very busy. The radiators were cold as were we after sitting for 2 hours 15 minutes. At the end of the meal no one came to take tea / coffee orders . I won't be tempted a third time.

Fantastic service, fantastic food, and a lovely warm atmosphere. The food was cooked to perfection, and the menu is really varied. Would definitely recommend.

Quiet when we arrived in late afternoon but does get busier later. Food was hot and very tasty, with two courses for £19 Overall, food was tasty, hot and there are a few options for us vegetarians

Today I visited the Horse and Groom with a friend on the recommendation of a colleague. On entering we were welcomed and advised to find a table, I was so spoilt for choice with the menu and specials board but decided to go for the steak and ale pie and it did not disappoint. The staff were friendly and accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. The food was delicious and well presented. Thankyou so much, Iwill be back as I need to try the Sunday roast next as I've heard so many compliments about it

Probó este pub después de ver la promoción que el jefe de cocina estaba ofreciendo en las redes sociales. Tuvimos la cena de pollo asado, fue absolutamente increíble 😋 mejor de lo esperado. El servicio era brillante y todo el personal era servicial y acogedor. Estaba muy ocupado, así que pensamos que habríamos esperado algún tiempo, pero realmente no tuvimos que esperar mucho tiempo para esta comida excepcional. Sin duda recomendaría este lugar a otros y sin duda volveremos de nuevo nosotros mismos. Gracias.

La cena asada fue absolutamente delicioso. La carne asada era tan tierna y sabrosa. Enormes elogios al jefe de cocina Dan, quien incluso se tomó el tiempo para mantener una conversación, durante sus ajetreadas horas de almuerzo dominical.

Had a lovely lunch here with friends on Saturday afternoon ,I'm gluten free and I must say the pie I had was 👍 great .Staff lovely and atmosphere nice and cosy we also enjoyed the outside space with heaters fantastic x

This is the second time I've visited when in Lincoln. I had to go back after the first time to see if it was a fluke (lol), it wasn't!! There's a great selection of beers / ales to chose from and the food (for the second time) was fantastic. The braised beef pot roast was rich and very tasty and the apple and winter fruits crumble with custard was delish. I would thoroughly recommend and will definitely be back.

Enjoyed our Sunday lunch at The Horse and Groom. The place was packed out and the food was tasty but I don't like it when you have to pay extra for cauliflower cheese and extra again if you wanted pigs in blankets...

All excellent. A pleasure to be there and a welcome port in a storm on an overnight stop in Lincoln. Dinner one night, and so impressed we went back for breakfast before heading home.

Ate here again, and it's even better than last time. Presentation and taste are excellent. Well worth it. Love the food and the ambience.

Great pub close to the city centre but far enough away to be a quiet place for food and drink. Delicious vegetarian options and gorgeous dessert to follow. Topped off with fantastic service and a lovely chill vibe. Will definitely be back when I’m visiting my daughter at Uni!

We sat outside with our dogs and it was lovely. Big portions and tasted great.

Very pleasant staff. Good cbeer and average priced wine. Lots of food not available. Food we ordered was OK. Not much fish in the fish pie. The salad was a stir fry and needed a bowl of chips to complete the dish. The downside was the entertainment. A young lady singer who I am afraid was not very good. The pub had a great bar area and we would have stayed after our meal for another drink but was put off by the entertainment.

Wasn't impressed with the steak and ale pie should have been called gravy pie

Sunday dinner. Hot, not so cheesy with the cauliflower, decent gravy, dry chicken, medium rare beef, average Yorkers but all in all, worth a visit.

Went for an evening meal on a Friday night. Exceptional service from the two ladies that looked after us. As far as the food goes, very fresh and tasty. Really good food. Will be returning.

Very friendly & attentive staff, excellent freshly cooked food & good prices for Lincoln. Car park is a bit awkward to get in to if you don't know the area as you can only access it from 1 way. But it is free as long as you register at the bar.

A lovely pub with wonderful bar staff couldn’t be more helpful. Decided to have lunch ordered from menu Ham and cheese with piccalilli When they came the piccalilli was Branston pickle. The waitress was very apologetic offering an alternative however the kitchen staff failed to inform the waitress of the change prior to plating. Bit disappointing as everything else was lovely.

Nice Sunday roast but over priced wine

We ate here on Sunday evening. The menu was a bit limited as they had run out of a few menu items, I guess because it was Sunday. The food we did have was very tasty and good value. Lobster and Crayfish fish are was delicious as was the whitebait. I had the chicken and bacon pie as the steak one had run out ( as had the steak). And it was very tasty. My wife had the king prawn curry which she liked a lot. Staff we friendly and helpful. Well worth a visit.

Absolutely lovely pub and amazing food. I had the chicken chipotle baguette with chis. Absolutely delicious. Will definately come again. The staff are also super friendly and helpful.

Third visit here. Staff very friendly. Food was excellent, though a little over priced. Wine, at 31£ a bottle... extremely overpriced, especially as it tasted exactly the same as Tescos Zesty (£4). Would have thought that for the prices, they would have waiter staff, and not have to order at the bar and then collect your own cutlery and condiments. Garden area was in need of a little TLC, and weeds in the gravel.( only a few mins job to sort, but not done). The prices suggest " upmarket", but really they fail on the finesse. Never the less, if you've got a fat wallet, and you really don't mind the short cuts on service and surroundings ( some kind of construction going on too). Then it's OK... Certainly better than the other Brayford eateries.

I went to write a review on here but accidentally did it on Google, and obviously nobody cares about Google. The food here is great and the beer garden is one of the best in Lincoln. I was served crisp cold Heineken 0.0s tonight by Ellie and Molly, who I can say performed this in what can only be described as a world-class manner. Fair play 🍺😎

What a find … had dinner there . Brisket en crut , excellent very light pastry, veg al dente , beautifully presented . Even had an ample jug with gravy . My husband had a special steak burger with prawns , great sides with it too . Polished down with Argentinian Malbec . Dessert of the scrummiest stem ginger pud ( crunchy top)with caramel ice cream .Perfect Birthday treat . The staff were so polite and very attentive. Thank you

Lovely lunch, excellent service from very friendly team. One of the best pubs I have visited -- and I have visited a few. Plus point: no music.

We tramped round Lincoln's eateries looking for inspiration but only found steaks, pasta, pizza and burgers with the occasional Thai and Mexican thrown in for mediocre measure. We are vegetarian and ended up back at the first place we'd considered and we're not disappointed. Altho' there are huge roadworks going on outside the pub was reasonably busy but there were still plenty of free tables on a Tuesday evening. The menu choice showed a lasagna and lentil wellington as options but we were delighted to find a vegetable wellington and mushroom and sweet potato pie and pint deal as additional specials that evening. The Bakewell tart with white chocolate ice-cream and berry compote was a yummy desert special. The food was delicious and the veg cooked to perfection. Presentation excellent and service friendly and efficient. Crowning glory for us was the Pushing the Envelope pale ale from a Lincoln brewery which was eminently quaffable. The ambience and interior decor very pleasing and will be returning here even tho ours is a short break of only 3 nights.

Great pub doing real food. Much better than your normal fayre. Great vegan pie with fresh veg, gravy and red cabbage. Onion rings the size of the moon. Lovely covered seating area. We will be back!

Love that place, we use to go every month. Good value for money even if a bit more expensive than other pub, but food and ingredients are much more fresh. The rib eye steak is amazing as well as the mussels. My wife love their home made onion rings.

Very nice place, fabulous food, good beer and basically the prices are honest. Here I had the best fish and chips in Lincoln. And I ate it in at least 10 local restaurants. I returned after a few years and it is still an excellent pub.

Came here a couple of times for some drinks whilst on a business trip and can’t really fault it. The pub is very cosy and has a traditional pub vibe. Drinks are a little pricey but not too different to anywhere else as of writing and I think the atmosphere and the friendly staff make up for it. I didn’t get her name but a shoutout to the blonde haired bartender for being very friendly with everybody, always on the move cleaning and remembering our drinks order when getting a round in despite it sounding like she have been battling a lost voice!

Night out with friends on a busy Saturday night. I love this pub, food was lovely, ..large portions too. I went for the Peach and Duck Asian salad which was delicious...young staff were all great too.

Never have I been charged £12.10 for two shandys until I came to the Horse and Groom! Ridiculous and their response to this was 'its because its classed as a pint'. When was a shandy the same as a pint of beer?! Won't be going back here that's for sure!

Lovely food, long wait but it was extremely busy and they explained this after we arrived plus they took off the price for one drink as well, what more can you ask.

Nice pub, good service, bland food. Have eaten here twice before and it’s been good, this time however the food was bad, so so bland. Starter was too oily and didn’t taste of much, main course not much better.

from roadside you might give it a miss but don't, we went on a Sunday night and the food was excellent as were the staff. Car Park an added bonus. Pie, chips and gravy fantastic.

Lovely cosy pub on the end of the brayford. Had the crispy pork and it was divine. Pork was juicy and crispy. Everyone I was with throughly enjoyed their meals. The service was attentive, friendly and polite! Will definitely be back in the future!

Visited here for Sunday Lunch and was very disappointed. Beef was tough, minimal gravy, roasted veg was undercooked, and that sorry looking discuss I the middle of the plate is their attempt at a Yorkshire Pudding. Unless we caught it on a particularly bad day, I cannot see why they get good ratings. On the plus side the staff are lovely and very attentive. Will not be visiting again.

Always greeted by such friendly staff, it’s a lovely atmosphere to eat and drink in! Me and my fiancé come here all the time, it’s our favourite pub in Lincoln. The food is incredible and there’s always a great selection of drinks. Would highly recommend!!

One of mine and my fiancé's favourite pub, very happy people not too overcrowded and a nice old rustic style on the inside, would highly recommend to anyone looking for a cute place to wind down.

I went here for Easter Sunday lunch and to say the food was way above my expectations is an understatement. The lamb had to be the most delicate, tender and delicious lamb I've ever had and my family who had the same agreed. My nan had the beef which she thought was absolutely spot on, she's quite fussy with how her meat is cooked but she loved it. The portions were spot on and I highly recommend the cauliflower and cheese as an additional side. The staff were also amazing, very friendly and helpful, especially as it was peak time on a Sunday. 5/5, will definitely be going again.

Our first visit here to meet a friend who lives in Lincoln. It was early afternoon and the weather was decent so the outside area was busy but not overcrowded. It's a more traditional style pub, which I like, but the biggest positive were 2 young ladies behind the bar. They were helpful and friendly and credit to the company. Take note that if you use the car park you must register you number at the bar on a tablet. That rule is well signed. Also they have electric vehicle charge points.

Lovely pub inside and decent beer garden but it's next to a busy road. Decent drinks selection and very tasty food. Friendly staff too. Highly recommend booking in advance as very popular.

My grandparents came to visit me since I am a student here. We decided to come here last minute on a Sunday and despite being very busy they were extremely accommodating. Ellie, Mollie, Alica, Charlotte all took care of us over the course of our meal. The staff here are all respectful and lovely, extremely supportive welcoming and helpful. My grandparents want to come again for their next visit! The Pub has a lovely atmosphere, a good selection of tasty food, and amazing staff.

A great pub for Sunday roast. We had a lamb and beef and both were excellent.What a great pub and probably the best roast I have had in long while. The beer is not bad either

Nice selection of beers, friendly staff. Went on Tuesday when it was pie and beer special. Steak and ale pie was delicious and you got a selected beer free with it.

we were greeted by the smiling face of Ellie at the bar, she gave us excellent beer recommendations and served our pints like a seasoned professional. the menu was extensive and left our mouths watering, the friendly and helpful Mollie gave us great recommendations and our food came out in no time at all. i would’ve added a picture, but our party had inhaled the meal before i had a chance to take one! when giving our compliments to the food we were informed that Nick and Bailey were in the kitchen that day, so our biggest compliments to them!! i would recommend the horse and groom to anyone in lincolnshire looking for a delicious meal in a wonderful atmosphere, thank you to your wonderful team for looking after us!!!

We had a delicious meal here on 15/03/24. Just popped in without booking. We order mussels and the curried lamb. Meals were fabulous and staff were lovely and bubbly. We were looked after by Charlotte and Alicia. Will definitely visit again.

A lovely country style pub on the edge of the city. Beer selection is great, and good quality pints. Food is lovely, eaten here many times and has always been amazing. The staff are the highlight of this place, super friendly and welcoming, especially the manager Charlotte. 10/10 would recommend to anyone after drinks, a nice meal or just a quick stop for a hot chocolate. The best pub in Lincoln by far!

Easy to find & in a beautiful old building. The staff are warm & friendly who are very helpful. Food was lovely, all commented on how nice their food was. Good range of beers etc. Only downside I found was limited veggie options. Really enjoyed my meal & would definitely return.

Superb venue for family catch up.All of us ordered different meals and all were superb and presentation is good.All arrived piping hot and the portion size is just right.My only grip was that my dessert took a long time to come .It arrived after our Irish coffees and I had to ask where it was.Also the venue doesnt accept cash so be prepared for this.

In Lincoln on business and had my evening meal here. Food was really good as was the service, I can wholly recommend this pub.

Popped in on my own for a coffee in the afternoon, really lovely coffee, felt a bit peckish but had eaten lunch before leaving the house, the menu looked great, shame I was too full to try it! The staff recommended trying some crisps or nuts as a snack. I had the salt crusted peanuts and they were very nice. Just wanted to say the girls on duty were all lovely, friendly and helpful. I usually feel uncomfortable going into a pub or restaurant on my own, but I felt very at ease. Cosy and welcoming!
