Pasé a comer algo. Precioso y limpio, gran ambiente cálido, comida sabrosa y bebidas calientes encantadoras. Personal acogedor. Instalaciones limpias.

Totalmente amigable. El nuestro tenía salchichas con abrazos. Deliciosa comida, sopa casera era increíble. Personal cálido y amable. Muy recomendable.

I cannot stress just how beautiful this place is. Extremely clean, beautifully decorated rooms and all amenities you would need. Highly recommend a stay here

Was to use a Scottish Term 'Puggled' after trudging up the lower part of the the Steep Hill in Lincoln and I gratefully spotted this establishment just shortly before I need the defibrillator. When we entered we were met by really friendly staff who got us to a table with nice comfy seating. We ordered Tea, Smoked Salmon Bagel and a Sausage Bap. The tea was real leaf tea and was really refreshing, my brother complimented the Sausage Bap through a full mouth and the Smoked Salmon Bagel was delicious with an ample supply of cream cheese. This is a delightful place full of character with a really relaxed atmosphere and professional and helpful staff, if you are passing and in need of refreshment, give it a try.

Pequeño café encantador, señoras muy amables y serviciales. La pequeña caca quedó muy contenta con su golosina 🐾 llamó esta mañana, lunes 30 de septiembre solo para un café y un día cálido y húmedo horrible. Muy recomendable xx

Had a delightful two night stay. The rooms smell divine, the staff are more than accommodating, and the cafe is wonderful. My friend Dave would approve. Will definitely visit again next time I’m in Lincoln.

Un lugar fantástico. Comida excepcional. Tan triste que no hay suficiente personal para llenar todo su potencial. El personal llevó al extremo. Necesito más personal.

Este café está bien situado a parte de Steep Hill, así que si necesitas un lugar para parar y tomar una copa y descansar, este debería ser el lugar perfecto. Los baños justo dentro de la puerta eran agradables, y nuestra orden en el mostrador fue tomada bastante rápido. Luego esperamos y vimos al personal muy lentamente abrirse paso a través de los pedidos. Parecía que solo uno, tal vez 2 de los varios empleados realmente se les permitió hacer la preparación. El resto se movió, recibió órdenes de mesas y parecían meterse en el camino. En los más de 25 minutos que esperábamos solo bebidas, la gente subía constantemente al mostrador para preguntar dónde estaba su pedido. La persona en la mesa detrás de nosotros finalmente tomó su bebida y preguntó dónde estaba su comida, finalmente llegó unos 10 minutos después. Nuestro pedido finalmente llegó y dos bebidas estaban bien, una se consideró peculiar (capuchino). Teníamos mejores cosas que hacer que esperar a otro. Para ser justos esto fue en un fin de semana de eventos ocupados, pensamos que quizás estaban abrumados. Sin embargo, mientras esperaba leí reseñas aquí y me di cuenta de que esto no era inusual. Lástima ya que está en una buena ubicación.

Llamamos aquí para el almuerzo después de llegar a la mitad de Steep Hill con nietos de varias edades, todos elegimos diferentes comidas tipo sándwich y todos disfrutamos. Las bebidas calientes eran muy buenas y el servicio era bueno.

Positivos: los sándwiches de salchicha eran agradables, el café era agradable y la vista era agradable. Negativos: Servicio MUY lento. Tomó media hora para 2 salchichas y otros 15 minutos para un bollo. Se suponía que el bollo debía venir con mermelada y crema coagulada, ¿pero venía con crema batida? Cuando nos preguntaron por qué no había crema coagulada nos dijeron que no les quedaba. Si hubiera sabido esto, no lo habría pedido. No me comí la crema batida haciendo que el bollo estuviera muy seco. El personal no parecía preocupado y parecía estar ofendido que habíamos preguntado. Ningún bollo debe venir con crema batida. No volvería.

We had a lovely breakfast and coffee and as the service and food were fab, returned for coffee and cake later 🙂

it’s just so good and i will definitely come again the workers are very friendly and the service is very fast. also not very expensive

A real gem of a place on Steep Hill. Perfectly situated between the Bailgate and the town centre. The owners, Steph and Paul, are friendly and welcoming. A special mention to Seb who makes excellent coffee; I love the cappuccino and flat white here. Seb is also polite and interested in the customers and there is always a great atmosphere at The Rest. Food is great; lunch options include Avocado and Feta. A selection of delicious cakes are available all day. Dianne Chamberlin

Great food and service, especially the sausage sandwich, and loved the cup-in-a-soup option! Generous portions, and nice spot in historic Lincoln!

Good place to stay and located in a good area for tourists. Came a little early and they let us drop our bags and come back later to check-in.

Went to order at the counter to be told its table service only. Waited 20 minutes before we asked about ordering. Waitress said she didn’t know we were waiting. Have ordered. Still waiting.

Excellent! The coffee, service - all very well done! They cleaned the table down, brought me a water when asked - super-responsive!

Having been to Lincoln a few times now, we normally do a cafe stop either at the top or at the bottom. The hots drinks here are reasonably priced and the cake was delicious. The Test was clearly just what was needed

We parked just down from the apartments which worked out well with 24 hour parking. The apartment was warm, comfortable and very clean in a perfect location for down town and the historic area around the cathedral. It is on a steep hill, but is about halfway up so not too tiring either way! It was a lovely quiet location with a tuneful wren outside in the early evening singing away. A handy table and chairs are outside your door too. We liked the kitchenette and would have made use of it had we stayed longer.

Always friendly service and good coffee. Wife loves it. Warm in cold weather nice clients use it. Halfway up or down Steephill, just the ticket

Absolutely fabulous food, beautifully prepared and very tasty. Child’s meal was brought out first. Service was impeccable thoroughly recommend to anyone.

Just came in for simple lunch - soup and sandwich but it was very poor on several points. Service very slow - took 30min to arrive, both our soups were lukewarm but we didn't send them back as we didn't want to waste any more time. My partners soup was supposed to come with warm half baguette - but it was cold! On positive note food tasted really good - but too many lazy mistakes, we won't return 😔

A great spot for informal lunch or coffee and cake, and super dog friendly too. We opted for a delicious freshly grilled bratwurst with sauerkraut, and a simple smoked salmon and cucumber on toast - both presented well and with a good, homely soup of the day. Service was very friendly and there was a lovely atmosphere - we wished we could have lingered longer, as the cake display looked very tempting.

A great place half way up Steep Hill in Lincoln to stop for a light lunch or even just a lovely coffee and cake to keep you going! Comfortable and airy surroundings and a friendly welcome to you and your four-legged friends too! My favourite is their homemade soup and of course their coffee ….do give them a try if you’re in Lincoln.

Great atmosphere and definitely need a rest after climbing up Steep Hill in Lincoln! Definitely recommend broccoli and Stilton soup. Children really enjoyed the cake and the slices were generous compared to other tearooms and coffee shops we have visited. Coffee was strong and hot again better than compared to other places we have visited. Would visit again.

Lovely venue in a prime location on the beautiful cobbled hill. Really good coffee and a good selection of lunch items. A fantastic selection of cakes, it's hard not to eat them all.

We just went to the cafe and had a coffee and chat, and the staff are so sweet. The location is perfect and the atmosphere is really lovely. :)

Lovely little hotel, clean and welcoming. Cafe is an added bonus directly underneath. Right in the centre of Lincoln

Appalling. We waited 55 minutes for a pretzel and some hummus and pitta. During this time 2 other tables walked out and requested refunds. No apologies were offered at all whilst we waited. I have attached the photo of our food as it was laughable- a slab of cheese, cold chorizo and a lukewarm pretzel.

Extremely slow service. They forgot our order. 45 min wait. Claimed mixed up tickets. No condiments, no cutlery. Had to ask for these. Would try again to see if any improvements

Lovely little stop off on our way down steep hill. Had lunch sandwich and a slice of their delicious cake. The chees sald sandwich was really nice. The cheese was nice and tasty the salad frsh and crisp. Made with requested ingredients. A lovely pot of tea made with tea leafs.. The raspberry and blackcurrant cake was delicious so was hubbies carrot cake. Would definitely recommend.

Very disappointed. The venue was lovely, a really good spot half way up Steep Hill. We had coffee and a cheese sandwich each. The sandwich was made with poor quality supermarket bread and we paid an extra 50p for about 3 rings of red onion. The young waiting staff we pleasant though. I wouldn't recommend this place, they could do so much better

My wife and I popped in as we were making our way out Steep Hill and we fancied a sit down. What a lovely discovery! The two ladies running it were lovely and the food was delicious. I had a toastie and my wife had a very superior peanut butter sandwich. We loved the food, the ambience, and the fantastic music playing in the background, an eclectic list of 60s classics. We will DEFINITELY drop in again the next time we're in Lincoln! Highly recommended!

From the centre of Lincoln shopping area take the walk up the steep hill towards the cathedral. Almost at the top on the right is the aptly named “The Rest”. Comfy seats to rest you wary legs and delicious coffee too. Friendly staff and reasonable prices, recommended 😊.

Bad experience... painfully slow service... raw scone ... incompetant staff who couldn't work out change to be given for a £20 note ! Will not be returning!!!

We climbed the Steep Hill in Lincoln and passed this restaurant on the way up. We were attracted by the situation ,being a patio in the sun. On the way down we called in for a snack and were delighted to find enthusiastic young people making a mark in catering. There were 4 of us , we ordered 2 salmon and cream cheese on toasted sour dough . Our fourth choice was sausage bap. All the dishes were well presented and tasty. The staff were attentive and clearly motivated to do well. The inside was as appealing as the terrace. We wish them a happy first birthday and if today is anything to go by , they will be successful.
