We used the takeaway restaurant, accessible from St Paul's Lane, twice during our weekend in Lincoln. Although this is not hard to find, this is tucked out of the way and offers a quiet place to stop and eat alfresco. The nearby wooden dine benches they provided were clean and tidy. I believe we were lucky to catch them in a quiet period, so spaces were available on both occasions, but there is a park just round the corner with lots of seating. They have a great value light bites lunch deal, which was more than generous. This includes fish chips and sides. It is topped off with the fact these are the best fish and chips I've tasted in some time. Highly recommended.

Excellent always staff friendly

Fairly reasonable prices and friendly staff. I had take away but the restaurant looked ok. I saw chicken on the menu and had to leave I don't think chickens are welcome here. Chips were good though.

Great fish n chip supper at The Elite restaurant. Great quality food and terrific service. We were a party of four and three of us had the standard size haddock and my wife had a children’s portion. There was so much fish I couldn’t finish mine. We will be back

Really nice here, food, staff and prices are excellent. I would strongly recommend the Elire fish and chip restaurant. Not so good today when we visited, the fish was very very greasy. Revisit today 21/02/2023 better today. The tomato sauce you get a very small amount come on Elite put the bottle a the table. Had another visit this Sunday 21/07/2024 fantastic excellent food and lovely staff.

My family and I just had an amazing fish and chip dinner here. We used the takeaway side and they do an amazing job. It is the best fish and chips I have ever had. Crunchy on the outside, tender and flaky inside. The staff is very friendly and we will be going back before we leave Lincoln!

Great place to eat and great food .well worth a vist .

We were in Lincoln for a concert at the castle. I'm a coeliac so no gluten and lactose intolerant so rather than chance not getting anything to eat in the venue we decided to eat in the city. We happened across this restaurant by chance with an EXTENSIVE GLUTEN FREE menu the like of which I have never seen in my 20 years of the diet. The venue was very pleasant, we ate upstairs, the staff were polite, calm and appeared to be a little too laid back. However their turnover of tables and warm welcome soon indicated how very good and efficient they all were. I had the regular gluten free cod with salad. I've never tasted such a wonderful, fresh and beautifully cooked piece of fish. The salad and chips were also good. My only regret was that I couldn't leave a tip because we were 'no cash' ready for the concert.

Only had takeaway from here. Order on entry and it's cooked whilst you wait. Nice staff. Food is great plenty of choice and do light bites if not to hungry. Also do ice cream!

The service level from the front of house was fantastic, during a busy evening with a huge queue in the take away side, the staff at the front of house were taking and dealing out orders flawlessly with a friendly and hospitable attitude without missing any order and making zero mistakes. The problem was the food itself. We spent nearly £80 on our order and my god was it bad. Has to be the greasiest products we’ve ever eaten. The fish, the onion rings, the scampi; we could not finish any of them because of how greasy they were. A decade ago, when we first got takeaway fish and chips from this place, we thought it was the best place ever. Sadly that’s no longer the case.

Excellent food and service portion sizes just right

Most of staff are very nice but for one very rude young woman, absolutely bad attitude , no respect for customers I don’t know if she knows how to speak politely, face like thunder and it’s actually put us off returning which is a shame as husband really likes the food , I don’t know if she’s management and a bit of power gone to her head or she’s very unhappy in her job , either way she really needs to check her attitude

This place use to be great now living off a reputation that isn't anywhere near to what it use to be.

Don’t ever eat in here, unless you want very very bad service and horrible food, severed by untrained ignorant teenagers, pretending to be staff.

Excellant as always nice pleasent stall, food always of high standard and well presented. Resturant always clean and tidy, we use this resturant about once a mouth

Plates were smaller than the last time I went in to an Elite restaurant. Portion sizes also smaller. Ketchup and tartar sauce served in miniscule ramekins. As was sides of mushy peas and curry sauce. However I have amended this as we had a takeaway of the same meal and ate it outside on the tables and chairs provided. Great quality and portions were far better. Fish was nice and thick rather than thin with more batter than fish.

Dining with a large group, the service was friendly, helpful, informative & quick. Foods arrived within 25 mins, having 2 of the homemade fishcakes & chips was enough for me! The "WC" was clean, compact & facilitated well! 😁👌

Bought a takeaway meal which was excellent. The light bite was just the right size with super thin battered fish.

The food was just awful, the batter was rock hard and the fish was very overcooked and I was unable to eat very much of it, the chips were ok. I complained at the till and I was told it was a new chef and that was it, I will never go back.

Enjoyed a great fish and chips, mushy peas and a glass of non alcoholic lager. Service was prompt and friendly, only downside is waiting to pay. I was waiting for a while on my own, it's only when others joined the queue that someone came to take our payment. Could do with a dedicated member of staff, or even better, ask for payment on delivery of food and drink.

Originally I'm from Whitby so tend not to eat Fish and Chips as much when I'm not on the coast as they're never quite as good, but this is definitely the best place in Lincoln for Fish & Chips. Never disappointed, its called Elite for a reason.

If you are happy to wait 40 minutes after placing your order then this is the place to eat, but we weren't told we would have to wait that long! So we won't be returning, it's your loss are we would have spent alot of money here that night. We would not recommend this place 😕

It's my favourite place for a treat. You just have to try the rock salmon. Friendly staff, great food and a lovely atmosphere.

Our 'go to' place for birthdays , anniversaries or just when we want a treat. We turned up unexpectedly at a busy time , however the staff soon put tables together and within five minutes we had ordered and food was being brought out to us. Fish was chunky with lovely batter , chips not greasy and mushy peas were real yummy. Fresh bread for the bread and butter and we were given a pot of tea with extra hot water as we had asked for. Altogether , my family ate everything (which with two fussy children isn't always the case). Absolutely 100% recommend.

Lived in Lincoln all my life but have never visited this very well known chip shop, until today! Absolutely amazing food, friendly staff. Little on the pricey side, but well worth it 👌

Went in and was very busy. Despite not booking, we were given a table right away. Only spent a few minutes waiting for each course. Food was excellent and service excellent.

Called in today for lunch with some friends. We all had the haddock and chips meal deals. I like my grub but opted for the medium one and it was more than enough. The fish was excellent and a really good size for a medium. The bit that stood out for us was our server julie. She was chatty and hilarious. A real credit to the restaurant.

The fish and chips are amazing! The cod was beautiful.We ordered a special costing £15.95 However the bread and butter was very dry though! Some of us later ordered desserts, I ordered a lemon meringue dessert for afters, which was very disappointing!! it was absolutely tastless! worse dessert I've ever tried!!. They did happily refund my money, and the lady was very apologetic. I inquired if they were bought in frozen one's and they were! I let my friend try it and she said it was horrible!! I suggested that there staff taste test what they serve to the public, as the dessert prices started at £4.95 to £6.95.We was a group of seven and only three paid for a pudding, as some of my group thought they were to expensive. I did however inquire what a few of the other dishes was like, as they had sold out of one we had ordered. They admitted that none of them, had tried any of them!! Come on elite management! it would of been five stars otherwise.

We visited on a busy Sunday afternoon and were seen, seated and served quite quickly considering how busy it was. When the food came (steak pie and chips) my first thought was that the portion size was a little on the small side, however eating any more chips would have just been me being greedy - so no, you won't get a massive plate full of chips, but do you really need it? The steak pie got off to a promising start, with a really crispy, flaky top. The steak chunks and gravy tasted great, but the rest of the pastry was a bit of a let down seeming a bit stale and cardboard-like. The chips weren't great, not terrible, but not great. Finally, the atmosphere suffered because of an extremely rude older 'gentleman' who decided that he had to take an important phone call and put his phone on 'speaker' because he couldn't hear over the cacophony of a busy restaurant. Unfortunately, that meant the rest of us diners also had to listen to his conversation. I can guarantee he was the sort of chap who would moan about the younger generations being on their phones all the time. Not necessarily the restaurant's fault, however they could have asked the chap to take his call outside.

Can I just say that there is a reason they call it elite fish and chips, the restaurant is elite. Food is amazing and the staff especially on a Friday afternoon are amazing. Atmosphere is so good that I wish I worked there. The place it literally ELITE

I would first like to say I enjoy elite fish and chips and love their product. But sadly my time there was ruined by a man constantly talking abuse to a poor girl in the take out area. I believe his name is Matt or mark and he was working on the fryer. He was constantly belittling this poor girl and swearing and making a poor environment for the rest of the customers, I even heard a few other customers talk to the girl and say they thought it was wrong too.

Been eating with family at this restaurant for years. This evenings fish was the worst I've ever had and decided to send it back. The manager brought my plate back out, said it's weighed and if I wanted a replacement I would have to pay for it. No apology was extended just the bad attitude. Not wanting to cause a scene I left it. Shocked at the customer service. We will vote with our feet, goodbye Elite we will not be returning.

Visited lunchtime 16/02/24 and busy but the staff found us a table. Excellent service and excellent food I cant really say any more. We had the meal deal with a regular size haddock and you would have to be hungry to want the large. Staff very friendly indeed. I would recommend a visit if in the area.

Very polite staff and prompt service The chips were cooked great ( my stepdad needs softish food and these chips were perfect for him) I love that the fish was skinless too. We didn't feel rushed to eat and leave. It was a very relaxing meal with the family.

Last Wednesday my Wife and I visited the Elite on a shopping trip to Lincoln from our home in Church Warsop nr Mansfield. This is a regular occurrence when visiting Lincoln have lived there 3 years ago. My Wife is a Type 2 Diabetic and during the meal had a hypo due to her diabetes. Two members of Staff arrived including the First Aider and carried out First Aid and stayed with my Wife for a hour until she recovered. I would like to express my sincere gratitude for there first class assistance to my Wife. Bernard and Anne Greene

I frequent this establishment since I've moved to lincoln, best fish and chips in town.

This place is a Mecca for pensioners, but at 48, I didn't feel misplaced. The menu had great choices, including healthy options. First came the standard bread smeared liberally with margerine, which is a nice traditional appetiser. I ordered cod, chips and curry sauce, and when it came it didn't touch the sides. My two kids, 6 and 10 were satisfied and impressed by the dandelion and burdock. The wife and my Mum were satisfied and commented on the nice meal.

Very expensive but food is fantastic hot and tasty

I have to say that the staff at this restaurant are the best I have come across in a long time. Friendly, efficient and attentive and very hard working. Service with a smile and excellent fish and chips made for a very enjoyable meal. Would definitely recommend.

Superb visit after a freezing 0-0 at the LNER. Seated quickly, attentive service, lovely food. A delight, and immediately established as our post-match go-to from now on.

I visited last night and had some of the best fish and chips that I have had in a long long time. On top of that, the restaurant staff were very friendly and professional. Will certainly be returning.

We had an excellent evening celebrating the Royal Marines corps birthday. Excellent service, lovely staff, delicious food. Nothing was too much trouble for our big party of 26. We will definitely be back.

Been past this place a few times while visiting surrounding shops etc, decided to call in and try it one day, really glad we did. We had a meal deal, fish, chips, drink, bread and butter, the whole meal was lovely, and there was a constant stream of people coming in for food. There is also a takeaway if you don't want to sit in, and a few benches to sit on outside, if you've not been, it's definitely worth a visit. We'll be back soon for sure.

I have had to amend this review from 5 stars 8 months ago, to 2 stars today. When I went 8 months ago and every time before that, everything was great. But since then, the standards have really slipped. From dry mushy peas to soggy chips, even the standard of the cooked fish is getting worse to the point that I will not be returning again.

First visit but won't be the last I hope. Friendly staff,quick service, hot and delicious food. Nice room and atmosphere.
