The Horns Country Inn in Wyre

Great pub to visit on a Wed night for the weekly quiz. Have been going for 18 months since we all moved to the area. Dave the quiz master puts on a great quiz with themed nights every six weeks or so. Jordan and the staff are great, really friendly and welcoming. Occasionally we have dinner too, good choice of pub classics and some different mains. Sunday lunch also great value. Worth a visit if passing by or fancy doing something midweek with friends and neighbours.

Great food and atmosphere, came to play the Halloween quiz night and watch football. Good entertainment and brilliant staff

Used to come here frequently until a few years back. Nice decor. Staff excellent. We had a lunchtime deal, which was good value. The food was really well prepared and presented. Like everywhere these days, don't think about the prices compared to a few years ago. Recommended, without a doubt.

Overated. The pub is lovely and the outdoor area beautiful, however after looking forward to visiting for a meal I was a little disappointed. I had steak and ale pie a lot of pastry and not much filling thin gravy and frozen chips. My husband had fish and chips and he really enjoyed his. It was average pub food for the prices they charge I expected better. The pub wasn’t particularly busy and we had about a 40 minute wait.

Had a great experience food was tasty and totally filled you up. But the thing that made the visit so good was the staff a special mention to Gareth who was super helpful

What a lovely find. After several disappointing lunches in the area we decided to try The Horns. We both had the Atlantic basket from the spring/summer lunch menu. What a treat. The fish was beautifully cooked and the staff were lovely. The special we chose includes a hot drink for £14.95 , we also bought 2 soft drinks and I paid on my card. By chance I looked to see how much the soft drinks were and realised we'd been charges for the coffees so I had to go back to the bar. However this was dealt with immediately and I was refunded the money. We returned the next week and had the same again and I'm happy to say the food was equally as good. The fish is really beautifully cooked. Next week we might have a change and try the eggs benedicy on a bacon chop. Thanks for a lovely lunch on both visits

Awesome Sunday roast. Huge portion sizes. All the staff were really nice and helpful. They were ever so slightly late bringing out our pigs in blanket side dishes. Gave us a free side of cauliflower cheese to apologise, wasn’t necessary but much appreciated! Couldn’t fault the place. Will be returning.

We have eaten here a few times recently and each time it's been lovely. The service is brilliant, all of the staff are attentive and friendly. The decor is lovely. The food is well cooked and the meals are good sized portions. Plenty of vegan and vegetarian options. We will be returning.

As soon as we arrived we felt like special customers. Gareth made us so welcome with his friendly and professional manner. Found this eatery by chance and popped in for a drink on our way home to Scotland. Decided to try the food and we were not disappointed. Quality and portions were superb. Sat in the beautiful beer garden with a few coffees afterwards. After a few unexpected hours we had to prise ourselves away or we would still be there. Gareth was also very popular with Ollie our Labrador especially after getting a sausage treat (even although it wasn't a square Scottish one) Can't wait for our next visit to the area to sample the wonderful service and lovely atmosphere of the place.

A friend took me who had been before. What can I say. Staff excellent, really good vibe. Had the lamb Sunday roast, absolutely delicious. Big shout out to the chef.😊. The menu looks amazing too. I will definitely going back.Will also absolutely recommend. Good for parking. Great outdoor space too.

Me and my partner visited for Sunday dinner. Wow! Such amazing food, we cannot wait to come back and taste more from the menu. When we arrived we received excellent service from the manager Gareth and all other staff we came across. Gareth greeted and seated us, he checked on us throughout our visit. He was very attentive, professional and a pleasure to be around. He's part of the reason we will be returning. They also had a live musician on who was brilliant and it created a really good vibe for a Sunday evening. I highly recommend if you want great food, great atmosphere and excellent service.

Been here a few times over the years. Had mixed feelings in the past. Sometimes ok sometimes better. Nice chalet style extension at the back of the pub even though it doesnt match the rest of the place.; but too sunny to sit in on this particular day and the only free table was a crammed in table for two far too near another table and hardly any room to move. Menu changed yet again. Not as diverse as it used to be. Food very good but averagely presented. Beer garden not yet finished.

No way will we waste time and money going here awful it used to be really good, but again not worth the money or any journey was awful in takeaway sunday lunches in lockdown with a tiny bit of dried up parsnip and nothing tempting to write home about

Had'nt visited the Horns for some time, but as we were in the area we stopped for lunch. Been nicely redecorated. Service was good, and quick, but not surprisingcascthe pub was nearly empty. We both had the Fish Pie, which although tasty was very small. One prawn and a spoonful of salmon? No longer has a mash topping and for £18.95 was rather disappointing. Sadly won't be returning anytime soon.

Very nice country pub, caters for everybody.. I was quite surprised with the back room with all the football on live whilst eating couldn’t of asked for a better set up ha the service was great, the manager (Gareth) made you feel very welcome and the food was really good 8.5/10 live music come on at 6:30 which was very pleasant in the background.. definitely worth a visit.

We have had a lovely meal today to celebrate my mother in laws 80th birthday. The staff as always were friendly, helpful & they couldn’t do enough for us. We go here a lot & the service is always fantastic & the food is always delicious! The best roast I’ve ever had! We love the cedar chalet. Looking forward to our next meal there. Completely Ignored by the 2 members of table staff talking together at the bar when I spoke the them. When I finally was acknowledged we were shown to a table that was completely out of the way and stuck in a blind corner which we said was unacceptable. After consultation with a man behind the bar whom I suppose was incharge the member of table staff eventually said we could sit wherever we wanted, not a problem as the place was virtually empty. After ordering, the food finally arrive. The soup was cold - the crispy chicken was wet & soggy - the side order was completely wrong - the hot drink included in the price of one of the meals never arrived. In defence the gentleman who appeared to be in charge did offer to re-serve the meal but we were short on time and did not want to stay any longer.

The Sunday roast is usually excellent at the Horns, but on our last visit the standard appeared to have dropped considerably. The beef was tough and the veg almost raw. When we were asked if everything was OK, we mentioned this, but the staff didn't seem particularly bothered. The dog didn't complain. He enjoyed the beef!

We had a lovely welcome as soon as we arrived. We was then given the option to sit in the restaurant or the chalet, we chose the chalet. Lovely interior, tasty scrumptious food and the service was outstanding! Gareth was amazing and a credit to the team. We will be returning very soon!

"The cedar chalet at the back is lovely and homely , but can get very warm. Great plans for the beer garden coming up hopefully by the end of this month. I would say though the drinks are slightly overpriced. But overall, it’s great.

First time at The Horns, it was a recommendation and we were not disappointed. We had the Sunday lunch which was excellent, pork was amazing with a good selection of fresh vegetables. Portions are large. We will definitely go back and highly recommend. Staff are welcoming and a credit to the restaurant.

Went with friends for dinner. We had pre booked table for 6. Food very tasty and portions were large. Service was excellent. Excellent selection of beverages and beers. Busy and had good atmosphere. Bonus of having live singer in the Alpine bar. Would go again.

We had a fabulous Easter lunch with family over from Chester. 3 x Sunday lunch ordered and they were so delicious. I wasnt very hungry so had a starter as my main, that was also delicious. There was a warm welcome from Gareth, excellent bar...

Large village Pub near Garstang. Best Gluten Free pub meal in many months. Nice friendly staff too. Will return when in the area.

We love a Sunday Lunch, it’s our weekly treat and we have visited most of the pubs nearby so decided this week to go bit further afield. Car park was nearly full which we took as a good sign. Pub was busy also good sign....

Well I understand that Mother’s Day is a busy day and didn’t want a rushed experience but the experience I got was memorable. Understaffed 2 people on the bar taking orders and people waiting for tables Sat down on a cramped table in the chalet...

Called in at Lunchtime. The waitress was pleasant enough and helpful. But did not wear a mask.This is a statutory requirement , by the Goverment Rules.The food was o.k But BUT VERY EXPENSIVE. There was no Lunch time menu.I had Cumberland sausage, and required a steak knife to cut through the skins.(Could they have been plastic skins?)The food portions are enormous, and there must be a lot of waste of food, not being eaten.A medium glass of wine, £4.95 This is the equivalent to of just under £30 a bottle!All in all -not a good Lunchtime experience.Needless to say we will not be returning.

Came for a family meal to celebrate in-laws wedding anniversary. We chose to sit in the garden as it was a lovely day and the service was excellent even though they were very busy inside. The food and drinks arrived quickly and were all lovely. The staff are always very polite and friendly when we visit and we love the relaxing atmosphere.

The menu has lots of choice and we spent ages deciding what to have. We ordered on the app and service was quick and food was good.

Called in for a pint & meal when travelling home from Garstang. We'd never been there before.The staff were happy, polite & attentive (not overly so).The food was served quickly & was delicious - plenty of it as well !Thoroughly recommend The Horns - we'll be making the 20 mile drive specifically to eat there again in the near future.

First off the food was really good, the service is good and the staff are very polite, however I don't see why I can't order a drink at the bar I have to use an app to have outside yet I have to go to the bar to pay for our meal, otherwise it would of been five stars.

Firstly the plus side. Booked for 6pm but got there early. Nice lady said she could fit us in. I ordered the chicken and chorizo sword and my partner ordered scampi. We both throughly enjoyed our meals. The sword was definitely a case of eyes bigger than your belly. I was delicious and I will definitely be coming back to tackle it again.The down side and it's only a minor criticism was we was seated for over 10 minutes before anyone asked us if we wanted a drink. On a nearby table a party came in was seated, ordered drinks, received drinks before we was asked.However as stated its a minor criticism and the food made up for it

After a lovely Italian the night before (yet to appear on Tripadviser) .... and a venue rated 2 in the area, I was left underwhelmed ... stock menu, nothing special .... atmosphere, ok, sadly next to 4 women with poor conversation volume control .... staff, well the one who welcomed us had a harsh tone (not a good start) .... ordered pies ... very average

We visited here on a Tuesday evening. I am aware lockdown measures have only just been lifted and that there may be teething issues with getting businesses back up running. I visited with my partner and young child. We turned up 15 minutes early and we’re shown to our table straight away which was great. We ordered drinks and our food pretty quickly. The drinks seemed to take ages to arrive. After waiting patiently for a long 30 minutes and after seeing others getting their drinks who had arrived after us, i asked where ours were… our order had been missed. We finally had our drinks, then it was the further wait for food. By this time our little boy was becoming a bit fed and restless... as most 3 year olds would, our food took an hour to come.. I’m not too sure if they’d totally misplaced our order to start as our order took an hour to come. The food was nice, good portion sizes and our son was really happy to finally see food. The pub wasn’t massively busy, it just spoilt it a bit that the service was so slow.

We have just had 4 takeaway Sunday lunches 2 lamb and 2 roast beef. WOW they where fab best takeaway in all of lockdown, meat was delicious and there was, Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes, mash potatoes, carrot and swede, roasted parsnips and creamed leeks, we also ordered 2 cauliflower cheese between us, could not fault any of it , would highly recommend. Well done Horns Inn we will definitely be back

Just had 2 roast dinners delivered, food was excellent, turkey and lamb, both were lovely and tender. Portions were large and really tasty. Staff were spot on from ordering to the cheerful delivery man. Many thanks, will be ordering again very soon.

Ordered a takeaway on Saturday night. Portions amazingly generous and the food was lush. Service from the initial call to the cheery delivery man was fab. I hope they continue to offer delivery / take out after lockdown for us anti social sods who just wanna be in our PJ's! Will definitely be back. Also the burger boxes were engineering genius ! Worth getting just to marvel at those ! Thanks for delicious food and a great experience all round !

Ordered a Sunday roast dinner plus a main meal and two starters and the whole meal was absolutely delicious ........ it was scrumptious and we will definitely recommend and use the service again (we all need to keep supporting local businesses as best we can) - thank you very much for a perfect 2 course meal for two

We have dined at The Horns at Churchtown on numerous occasions, but today we decided to place our first take away food order with them, and we were not disappointed.Our order consisted of Starters and Sunday lunch for two people.We placed our order using their online app, which was very easy to do.The app shows all the available menus and prices clearly and enables you to book to have your food delivered at your chosen allocated time.The delivery was prompt, despite our address being a little off the beaten track, and the young man who brought our food was courteous.The food itself was very well packaged and it arrived piping hot, all we had to do was plate it up and enjoy.The portion sizes were generous and the food was very tasty, it was a lovely relaxing way to dine on a lazy Sunday evening, and best of all... no pots and pans to wash!!Just like everybody,we have missed dining out during lockdown ... but this is the next best thing.Super service all round,we wouldn’t hesitate to use their service again and it’s an excellent way to support this business during uncertain times... We wish the well for the future.

Delicious Sunday lunch. Plenty of crispy roast potatoes and tasty roast beef. Served with a very large homemade yorkie pud and a jug of gravy. The staff were very helpful and attentive and made every effort to be as covid secure as possible. Well done. We had a fab Sunday lunch and will be back soon.

Visited the Horns yesterday with children who ate free,and also got an ice cream as dressed in Halloween costumes which they enjoyed, the menu was very good with lots of choice and the atmosphere very relaxed and staff where brilliant, the tapas menu looked very interesting and hope to visit again soon

Second visit in a month. The staff are always SO friendly, which really does make the experience & our food was yummy. So lucky that the Horns are our local pub & restaurant because due to her health that has to be extremely careful in these current times. So rarely go out or go far. I feel totally safe & looked after here. Thank you!! I can’t really thank you enough. You make a girl very happy that she can enjoy amazing food & be safe! Sophie.

First visit. Efficient service & good instructions from staff on rules re covid. We had 7 Tapas (£25), which for two of us was plenty. Particularly liked the sesame chicken. Couple of drinks each, £47 Nice decor, nice food, good staff, we will return soon.

Good quality food well presented but not worth the money without the discount. I presume because of Covid precautions the staff seemed a little disorganised..

We were attracted by the continued 33% off following on from 'Eat Out to Help Out'.Clearly a restricted menu due to Covid and understandably so.The Texan Burger was very nice but the Scampi was a little over done and more coating than Scampi. The Timothy Taylors Landlord wasn't up to its usual standard.Shame about the variety of Swords not being available, no chicken/chorizo or veggie option, just the Steak Sword on the Specials Board.The Covid precautions seemed rather halfhearted to be fair. Yes hand sanitiser, but unable to order at the table using the App as suggested and had to wait in a queue at the bar to order which was strange in these times.We will give it another go when the restricted menu changes back to whatever 'normal' will look like but as the heading suggests on this visit Rather Disappointed.

We headed to the horns inn for tapas thursday 5 tapas and a bottle of wine for £25 this has to be the best £25 i have spend food was amazing staff well covid trained distancing measures in place was a treat to have eaten here will definitely return again

We visited for an evening meal with two dogs. We were very impressed with Jodie and her ability to help guide us for gluten-free options for one of our party ahead of time so we knew everyone would enjoy themselves (great options too I add).The pub was beautifully decorated and welcoming. The staff were smiling and happy to see you. All the tables were spaced out extremely well which was reassuring for us as two of the party were in the vulnerable group and hadn't been out for a meal since February. You are asked to scan and enter your details via phone for Track and Trace. You can opt to order from your table via the app or go to the bar (one person encouraged to go there to reduce too much congestion).The food was excellent and of excellent portion size. We all left feeling full and that we'd had a night out that made us feel more normal again. It was a special night for us as family who hadn't seen each other for months could reconnect (2 households). I'm glad we chose The Horns. We would highly recommend it to anyone, especially with dogs.

The pub was busy but very well organised re Corvin 19 and we considered we were as safe as possible. There were special offers available but not on the night we went(Friday). We ordered Beef stroganoff and steak and kidney pud. The food was excellent in particular the stroganoff and 2 glasses of Rose wine total £34.90. In addition to their main menu they have an extensive tapas selection ideal for a quick lunch or dinner. We will certainly go again.. Track and trce system was promoted.

Visited tonight (Thursday 3rd September.) Having not been here for a while we thought we would pay an overdue visit. We were greeted at the door by Jodie who showed us to our table and talked us through the regulations and how to order. I didn’t catch the other lads name but he was lovely too. All staff were clean and kept safe distances at all times which I was very impressed with. Ordered starters and mains, which arrived quickly, Hot, very large portions. Only complaint is that I was too full to fit a pudding in! Will be back to try those cheesecakes in the counter they look insane!!!

My first visit to The Horns Inn yesterday evening. The food was delicious, the waiting staff were superb, friendly and very helpful - especially during the lockdown. Out waitress Katie was a shining example and a role model to all waiting staff. Very accommodating and very professional.Highly recommend!

Went as a group of 7. Well greeted and shown to table. Ordered at bar all very smooth. The food was really disappointing. Not sure if the chef was off but it took ages and was seriously sub standard. Payed to start. Rock hard straight from fridge. Kids mains of cheeseburgers came with really burnt cheese. Mentioned to the server - o sorry we’re really busy today. Two other mains came and were overloaded with cheese and the whole thing looked and tasted as if straight from microwave! Food is top dollar here and you really need to be doing something special for £19 a main course in a pub. Best avoided unless you want bad food at massively overinflated prices.

Felt reasonably safe. One meal, Beef Stroganoff was really disappointing, however, the ribs with really good. Graham apologised and was very courteous in spite of being extremely busy. The coffees and a delicious Manchester Tart were on the house. No fuss just satisfied customers. I see on a previous review, the Stroganoff was also unsatisfactory, perhaps a better recipe??? Will definitely return.

As a regular visitor to The Horns I decided to have a family meal there on Sunday for my birthday and was not disappointed. Although the pub was very busy the service was still brilliant and all of our meals were excellent followed by delicious desserts. I always feel very safe and relaxed here with regard to the Covid requirements and the staff are so friendly and nothing is ever too much trouble. At the moment there are a limited number of places that I feel happy to visit for a meal and The Horns is top of my list.

We came as a group of 6. We found the starters huge but the Nachos were a disappointment and the lasagne was pretty average. We were a little concerned about condiments on the table ie vinegar, salt etc. The vinegar was in a somewhat greasy bottle which was clearly not sanitised. The other thing that made us uncomfortable was how the waitress leaned over us to lay the plates down. As she was not wearing a face mask and we felt it was too close. Apart from hand sanitizers and ? Disposable menus aI wasn’t entirely convinced the place was Covid safe. We have dined with you a couple of times in the past and the food was much better.

Been past this place a couple of times & decided to try it on a recommendation & wasn’t disappointed COVID secure felt safe. The staff were helpful & informative the food was absolutely fabulous had the steak & kidney pudding which was gorgeous proper chips & proper mushy peas. Lovely friendly staff and great they allow dogs :) average priced food and drinks. Starters were nice and the portion sizes are huge but the mains were poor. We had the cheese pie and stroganoff but they didn’t meet our expectations. Unfortunately we wouldn’t eat here again.

Called in Thursday lunchtime and found a quiet restaurant which suited us. The food was nice, pub grub but acceptable. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The pub is dog friendly, always a bonus.

We came as a large party on Sunday for Sunday dinner. As always the food was amazing and clear plates all round! Desserts were also fabulous. People who say that this is a bad pub and bad service obviously don't know great dining and service when they see it! The staff were all fantastic and very attentive (as always) even in the busiest time of the day/evening! Myself and my party all felt very safe within the premises and the social distancing and cleanliness is taken very seriously.All of the staff and management deserve a medal for the amount of work they have been doing to keep the place running to a 5* standard during these trying and testing times in my strong opinion. I can't wait to return and bring my family back! Thank you team Horns, once again!

Where do I start well firstly no social distancing measures in place which I found rather strange we then waited to be acknowledged and waited where the sign told us to do so upon entering the premises as my Husband and I had pre booked a table. Finally shown to our table with no interaction with the member of staff. We waited about 5 minutes after which I went to the bar to asked if a member of staff took the food order only to be told I had to queue up .Saw a member of staff going back into the Kitchen with meals but little did I know my meal would be going back. ............. My Roast Beef dinner was a plate of MUSH watery gravy made the mash and I think cauliflower cheese all mix together the chicken dinner was the same. Upon leaving I was offered a free desert if we returned for a meal which I refused and asked for £13.95 the price of my meal to be refunded which was relunctantley given . We always loved the Sunday lunches at The Horns Inn but will never return.

Ordered Mushroom Stroganoff and found two strips of meat amidst the sauce . I’m not a vegetarian so it wasn’t the end of the world BUT it made me wonder how it had come about when food is supposedly freshly prepared - surely the two stroganoff options shouldn’t come into contact with one another unless carelessness has set in , along with a complete disregard for the concept of vegetarianism . My vegetarian husband would have put down his knife and fork and walked out .... furthermore , when I reported what had happened to the waiter , there was no response from the kitchen ..... on emailing to express my concerns .... no reply . Not good enough !!!
