The Hornbrook in Horsham

3 of us went to the Hornbrook for lunch , myself, my friend and her disabled brother who uses a wheelchair, it hadn’t been the first time we had been there, it was a few occasions, we had asked for a child’s meal for the brother as he doesn’t have a large appetite despite him being an adult and due to him having a high palate he can only eat certain foods, we were told by the landlady that as from October we would not be able to order from the children’s menu and they would offer lighter options, we explained the situation to her and she didn’t appear to be interested, we have made the decision to never go there again, the landlady is very up her own backside and it’s been noticed that she treats some people differently to others, also they do not take cash anymore and when asked why she said it was the brewery’s decision which I know is a lie because the Goffs Manor in Crawley who are owned by the same brewery do take cash . So basically I do not recommend it to anyone let alone someone with a disability

We both had pork belly and was disappointed. Potatoes were so screwed up and dry we didn’t eat them and the pork belly was dry and chewy. At a cost of £22, and many people eating we expected better

Booked to come here on a Sunday evening with the intentions of having a roast dinner, one of the most popular meals to have on a Sunday. We were seated at our table and was asked what drinks we wanted very quickly, we asked for some more time as we only just sat down and the waitress came back within a minute or two asking again. It felt very rushed. We then got our drinks and was about to order mains, we asked for a pork roast and a chicken roast to be told they had neither only beef or nut roast. If this had been communicated before we sat down we would have gone elsewhere, so we asked for more time to re consider. We had ordered bread as a starter so decided to finish this and our drinks and go elsewhere. The waitress told us people can “pre order” their roast and they will save it for that person if they want a specific meat which I thought wasn’t great. Then my partner was sick within 15-20 minutes of leaving the pub throwing up all the bread he ate which had melted butter with it. Not sure if related but not a great experience had here after being told good reviews.

I booked a table for 6 for 3pm on Sunday 8 Sep. When we came to order our meals 15 - 20 minutes later we were told that there were no pork roasts and only one chicken and one beef roasts left. This was a huge disappointment and very embarrassing for me as the host for the meal. How can a pub that promotes its Sunday roasts run out of them? And yet about 20 minutes further on new arrivals at a nearby table seemed to have no problem in ordering roasts. A further problem arose as one of my guests has an allergy to chillies and peppers etc. Because this is not a "recognised" allergy, the staff were unable to guarantee that no such ingredients were present in what had to be, because of the roasts situation, a second choice meal.

I’ve been coming to the Hornbrook for years and it’s always been such a lovely place. Unfortunately when we attended today, the manager was rude, miserable and very uninviting. It was much quieter than usual, clearly going downhill. It was clear why. Girls serving the food were lovely, shame about the manager. Won’t be returning anytime soon.

Our party of three stayed for over three hours - and we were never rushed. Throughout that time Harriet looked after our many request always with efficiency and a smile on her face.

Very friendly, prompt service and very timely. We had 3 courses for all 4 of us within an hour and a bit.

I was with a group of 8 people for Dinner at the Hornbrook last night and I have to say how impressed I was with everything during our visit. Harriet was attentive and did not get stressed, as 3 of our party were late arriving. Food was all good and evrybody left happy ! ps: Badger beers are very good too

Great lunchtime service from Abbey. The place has a great atmosphere and the relatively small range of main meals are all freshly prepared and tasty. The chicken and bacon pie was the highlight. Great overall service

I went to the Hornbrook this afternoon for a lovely lunch with my partner, the food was delicious and a good variety of drinks. Our server Mia was very attentive and helpful. Would definitely recommend and can’t wait to come back!

Went in for a nice lunch with friends, ordered fish and chips and a coke. Ended up in A and E with food poisoning for 2 days….. safe to say I will not be returning

Booked in advance for a table for two. My chair was situated next to a large fire extinguisher which was digging into my leg throughout our visit. Loads of kids running about. In my opinion, kids shouldn't be allowed in pubs, it's an adult environment! We ordered our drinks, a pint of lager and a diet coke with no ice. Diet coke arrived with a plethora of ice in it! Ordered our food. Double cheeseburger and chips twice. Burgers were very dry, chips were just warm (not hot!) and served in a small metal cup, so there were very few chips. If they'd served chips on the plate, it would've been a far more suitable size portion. My husband also ordered a side salad that arrived at the table almost as he was finishing his burger and chips, so basically, the side salad ended up being his dessert! Ordered another pint of lager which took a while to arrive. Had a bit of a grumble to the waitress about everything, and they took one pint of lager and the diet coke off the bill. Not enough in my opinion. Sorry, but won't be eating there again.

We have been to the Hornbrook Inn several times in the past and always regarded it to be one of the better pubs in the Horsham area for food and service. We went last Friday and were disappointed with both. I had the fish and chips which were average at best (not as good as in the past by any means) and my wife had a steak which was overcooked and she had asked for it to be medium rare. The service was slow and bordering on neglectful at times. The worst thing of all was that I had booked a few weeks in advance for a special family dinner event with 7 of us and spent quite a bit of time explaining to the staff member what I wanted and checking the tables available for the night etc. Unfortunately, or fortunately in this case, I had to cancel the booking yesterday due to a change in location but when I called, the pub had no record of the reservation for the night I had booked! When she finally found a booking under my name it was for Thursday night, whereas the reservation was for the Saturday two days later. I had been very clear about this and stated the required date on at least three occasions. We shall not be rushing back to the Hornbrook anytime soon.

I went there with my daughter for Easter Sunday. We had booked for 12 noon and we were totally on time. We were coldly greeted by what I presume was the manageress who showed us to our table and sharply informed us we had to be out by 1pm! Nowhere when we booked did it say we had to be out by 1pm. We probably wouldn't have booked with you if this was the case. Also expected to get a warm welcome but it was decidedly frosty. The food was good and we didn't actually finish our meal until 1.30pm and fortunately we were not kicked out!

Fabulous food, friendly service and a great chilled atmosphere for a Sunday lunch, thanks team! We didn’t have a dog but there were some well behaved ones also there for lunch.

Nice ambience and food was quite good but overpriced especially for the size of the portions. My husband had a burger and he had about 6 chips with it! I had curry which was OK for me but not a very big portion. Desserts were very overpriced and quite small. We had ginger sponge and custard which was nice enough but a very small portion with hardly any custard and £7.45. Disappointing! A little bit more of everything wouldn't have cost them much.

The evening was all I hoped it would be. Meetings friends in a warm friendly place with attentive staff, good food and affordable. From the moment I arrived to when I left it was a good evening all round. Happy days

Have been regulars here for many years but sadly something is missing at the moment. The roasts have always been great but I can’t put my finger on it, just not as good. I’m sure we will return and hopefully it will be back to usual standard. Service charge now added to the bill, I really don’t like this as am always happy to leave a tip. I know it’s optional but is it necessary for two people, I may be wrong but this is the first time the waiting staff have mentioned it to us on payment.

I have been many times before and although my meal was fine. My father's was not he had Cumberland sausage and mash. The mash was fine but the sausages were chewy as if they had been nuked in a microwave for too long. The 1 onion ring had no opinion oops... however the staff were nice and efficient. I was treating my parents for lunch so this was disappointing. We were compensated for the quality of food.

portion pathetic. Sausage and mash. presumably they ran out of potatoes a small spoonfull. this meal eaten is seconds for someone who came here hungry and left hungry , for me and my son. not happy. not value for money

I’ve recently been diagnosed with coeliac disease and I’m trying to work out the diet. The menu online was helpful enough but the servers were so nice and understanding, didn’t make a big deal of it, and treated it like any request. The food was yummy and it was great to know I can still have a great piece of cheesecake 🥰. Felt very supported and very grateful for this. The other meals were enjoyed thoroughly and I like the country pub feel there, so cosy.

Stopped by for a pint at 4pm on a Sunday afternoon. Tried to order at the bar to be met with a bit of confusion and asked if we’d booked. Apparently if you want drink it’s one of the handful of bar stools inside the door or nothing. If you fancy a meal then it does look lovely but, as we were just passing through and only wanted a drink we didn’t get the chance to find out.

Excellent choice of family meals. Amazing staff that work very hard to ensure meals are ordered and served with minimum fuss even when restaurant is really busy. Food is always nicely cooked and presented well, accompanied by a great selection of beers and other drinks. Jess, thank you for making our visits so awesome, you and your team make this restaurant so special whatever the occasion. I had fish and chops. Dinner was bought out in goodtime. At first i didn't see the chips they were hidden under the rather skinny piece of fish yes all 12 of the soggy under cooked chips. All at a cost of £16.75. I have had much better fish and chips in my local wetherspoons for £11 including a pint of lager. Also charged £1.85 for a glass of soda with a shot of lime in it. Total rip off joint. Never again.

What a delicious cranberry and parsnip nut roast!!! Generous portions, lovely accompanying veg. We didn't have room for pudding sadly, next time I hope. Would highly recommend to any vegetarians looking for a delicious lunch, and any meat eaters for that matter. Lovely friendly service, helpful with my sister's wheel chair. Thank you Hornbrook!

Daisy was so welcoming! She was smiley and happy to look after us from the second we arrived! We asked to sit iniside, then we realised it was sunny outside and even though the amazing daisy has completely sanitised the entire section so we could sit inside, it was no trouble for her to move us outside! For the first time in months we have just enjoyed a very nice lunch inside The Hornbrook.As always the welcome was warm and genuine the covid safe arrangements are excellent with test and trace, hand sanitisers and the tables well spaced.But the best parts are the food and service, the new and extensive menu should suit all tastes and the service prompt and friendly.Thanks Sebastian, Saneal, Becky and the rest of the team and we are looking forward to more enjoyable visits.

I phoned in advance to book a table for a 50th birthday lunch, and although they were only taking walk-ins, the person who answered the phone was so friendly and helpful that I thought it was worth a punt. Second year in a row we've come up for the Christmas celebration menu & it didn't disappoint. We were sat outside as was a works catch up but was fine. The staff were great, food just as good as last year - the mushroom tart from the starter was particularly good. A great night was had by all & are already talking about coming in the summer & next year's Christmas meal up here.
