Rare to experience such a enjoyable venue. The landlord was keen to impart his vast knowledge of ales and ciders. The basement bar is cosey but the atmosphere intimate and social. Locals made me feel welcome and offered sample for their Belgian beers. It's a hostelry to witness why life is worth living.y

One of those cellar bars you could walk past a hundred times and miss... Draught Pilsner Urquell from the mother land.. us 2 nancy southerners were happy!

Without doubt you’ll get Michelin starred service in here if you can navigate the steps into this cellar bar. Top class selection of cask ales on and so handy for the Railway Station. Check FB for opening times as they do change. Only food on at the moment - cheese & biscuits.

This is one of the best pubs around, really friendly and loves the craft of beer and cider. Not many places around with such a selection of real cider served as it should straight from the box and room temperature. The loyalty scheme is great when paying with cash, although card is accepted. Anyone wanting a quality drink and a welcome chat to others should go to this cracking pub!

We always call into the Hop and Vine on our visits to Hull. It's one of our favourites.

Old school underground bar with good beers

Hidden gem with a true love of community and local pride! Amazing underground bar if you fancy a step aside from the hustle and bustle of the city. Intimate indoor seating area always has a friendly welcome. Anyone could easily start a conversation with anyone in there; especially the barman who loves a chat and is the best at recommending drinks when you're unsure what to pick from the varied selection of beers, ciders and spirits.

Small venu, lovely staff, the best beer in Hull.

Only had one drink in here due to other plans, good selection of boxed ciders, bottled ciders and hand pulled ales. Spirit shelf was plentiful. My OH had a sticky caramel rum with diet coke. Lovely after taste. I had a boxed cider, Katy Perry, a blend of apple and pears cider. Small seating area with 4 or 5 tables inside. I'm guessing in warmer weather there are some small tables for outside. Worth a visit if you're in the area.

Great atmosphere in this tiny little cellar bar. There is an even smaller beer garden at the front, which is a bit of a sun trap during the afternoon. Highly recommended. EDIT: I'm sure this is the same place that I used to go to back around 1988 into the early 1990's but it had a different name then. Would love it if anyone could remind me.

Got to be the tiniest pub in the city but with a big atmosphere and great beers. Well worth a visit.

Staff is very friendly and helpful. Beers are different every 2 weeks which always keeps you on your toes.

A brilliant little pub located in a small cellar in Albion Street under a row of Georgian houses. It serves a good range of cask conditioned real ale, and an excellent range of real cider. Tiny outside seating area big enough for two people. The pub is accessed from a very steep staircase on street level. Local camra pub of the year.

Popped in for one pint and we stayed for four. Enjoyed it that much and then went for the train home so didn't see much. Just our type of pub so it's a good job that it's not our local.

Great little bar with some nice real ales. Quiet when the was there but busier on the evenings apparently. Nice atmosphere, good service and good beer. What more do you need ?

Cracking little pub with a friendly ambience and lovely beers. Periodically do beer festivals and we were fortunate enough to chance on one when we visited with a nice selection of Shropshire beers on offer.

Smallest pub in Hull with the most character

Always a great selection of ales varying from day to day. All kept very well therefore making it one of the best public houses in Hull. Nice atmosphere too!

A pub for people who know their beer! Opening hours can be limited as it's an independent. Staff have always been friendly. It's a small pub and can get crowded so go early if you can.

Anyone living in or near Hull should make this a regular stop. Anyone visiting should most definitely pop in for great company and excellent beer.

It was a long time since I'd been and it was good to see the charm of the place hadn't left. Beer selection wasn't as good as it was, that's my only complaint. Plenty of ciders. We had a cheese board too, that was a good choice.

They have a Belgian Beer menu. Owner is dedicated so you will always get the best. It used to be wine bar in the 70's

Top place really quirky micro basement bar, I went in with my girlfriend and straight away made very welcome massive variety of drinks for such a small place, the locals chatted all night to both of us such a laugh and local knowledge as well about the city, would recommend the cheese platter as well super place

Had a great night on Saturday night would go again

1st time I'd been in,but past it many times. Its certainly a hidden gem.It has a nice friendly atmosphere and a good choice of hand pulled real ale.I would certainly recommend it to anyone and will be going again very soon

What an excellent tiny bar. With room for an intimate few (can't imagine more than 15-20 people in there), this was a friendly bar, a great stop off on our way to the theatre. Barmaid chatty, as were the regulars. We were made to feel very welcome. Thank you.

Great little place, "Proper" small bar of a type that's fast disappearing in England. Good ambient atmosphere that incites sensible and logical conversation, a fast dying asset at far to many establishments. Will certainly call again when in Hull.

Only just realised I haven't left a review of this. Tony runs a quite marvellous pub, a real community asset. Friendly, welcoming and has a range of decent beer. Bar snacks such as sausage rolls usually available and the cheeseboard is really lovely. Not the largest venue, but packed with character. An absolute delight.
