Lovely place and great friendly staff

Nice place, lovely staff, food good. Easy to park nearby. Only complaint was that our gravy on the sausage casserole was WAY too salty.

Favorite cafe in guisborough by far. Extensive menu but nice and simple options too - it's so hard to just get a sausage and egg bun somewhere these days. Everywhere has ciabatta and avocado and I just really miss what my parents always called "granny cafes ", they're simple and comforting and they're disappearing unfortunately. This place has it all, the basics and also hot meals like parmos, then great desserts and bakes including waffles, excellent chef, excellent polite and efficient serving staff, low music volume, tables nicely spaced apart, everything's clean, nice bathrooms, not to mention it's been modernised but in a cosy comforting way - everywhere seems to be industrial themed now with rustic wood and rock hard metal everywhere, it just doesn't feel appetising or comforting to me. Maybe I'm old fashioned for my age, I don't know! But i really hope this place doesn't follow suit and make it's menu fussy and its decor cold and uninviting. If it stays as it is, they have a customer for life when it comes to me

I ordered a steak and ale pie and chips. Chips were raw, the pastry was stogey and under cooked, The pie filling was too salty. The Americano coffee I had was also very bitter. I usually have a good experience in the priory but it seems to have gone down hill since my last visit.

Absolutely lovely. Food excellent and staff very friendly. Value for money too. Brilliant start to our holidays. Will definitely be back and recommend a visit. Thank you.

Enjoyed a delicious mushroom soup here and the hot roll was very nice also. Would have loved to return for coffee and cake but the 4pm closing time clashed with my schedule. Hopefully the next time I am in the area I can call back.

Nice little cafe. The baked eggs special was delicious and serving the scone was warm was a nice touch. The coffee was excellent and much better than your usual Starbucks. Price is reasonable for a lunch.

I've been to the Priory Bistro many times. The staff are really friendly and accommodating, the atmosphere is cosy, and the facilities are well maintained. The food is always great, easily one of the best breakfasts in town. The seasonal dishes are great as well; the Easter roast dinner was especially lovely.

A lovely little cafe! The battered chicken burger was so soooo good! The mrs had the breakfast club sandwich and it looked amazing too. No pictures as we were hungry! Lovely polite staff, everywhere was nice and clean, nice chilled quiet music giving a relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommend.

Always a warm welcome at The Priory Bistro. Great friendly staff. Nothing is too much trouble, even when ordering something that isn’t on the menu. The only slight criticism is that dogs are not allowed inside, so if it’s bad weather they lose customers. There are three rooms in the cafe, and the room directly off Chaloner Street would be ideal to allow well behaved dogs into. Overall a great cafe.

We had planned to lunch at Guisborough and based on reviews Priory Bistro looked like a good option The cafe was pleasant and clean and the staff were friendly and helpful To be fair there was a large choice of meals on the menu and I can only comment on the the one that I chose I ordered tea to drink and as is common practice this came before the meal. It arrived luke warm and by the end of the meal was stone cold. I realise the idea is probably that they hope you will order a second cup but I would still expect it to be properly hot on arrival My meal was jacket potato with tuna mayonnaise The potato was good but the filling was too heavy on the mayonnaise and pretty tasteless because of this The menu did say “salad garnish” and not side salad but I did expect a bit more than a couple of tablespoons worth of green leaves and grated carrot So in summary the cafe and staff were good but the food and drink left me underwhelmed

Popped into the cafe for dinner with my sister. Service was excellent as always . The waitress with the blonde hair was so kind and helpful. I had the cheese and onion toastie which the waitress said was her favourite and its now mine, my sister had the chicken mayo and pigs in blankets ciabatta melt which was also really nice. Will definitely be back. Also came in earlier this week and had a cheese and caramelised onion scone which was also really tasty

I have visited Priory Bistro several times over the years :- always a good service with well-cooked quality likened to home-cooking hot & good value for money very convenient for bus travellers through Guisborough Town especially with a wheel-chair & help through the door thankyou

Forget the chain coffee shops, this is the place to go when you are in Guisborough. The staff, both front of house and in the kitchen, are warm, friendly and welcoming, and nothing is too much trouble. I usually order food that is off the menu and the staff are totally unfazed by my order. This is how all coffee shops should operate. They really look after the customer first. The owner should be very proud of their establishment and all of the staff.

Arrived after a long and wet cycling day in the moors, was welcomed, recharged and fed. My hearfelt thank you to the staff. The only suggested improvement would be to have some olive oil to go with a salad.

Just found this place by chance when visiting Guisborough. Wandered off the high Street in search of a local place for coffee instead of the usual chain shops and we were more than happy with our choice. Nice surroundings, friendly staff, good service, lovely coffee and probably the best fruit scones we have ever had. And the rest of the menu looked good too. Would definately recommend seeking out the Priory Bistro if you are in Guisborough and looking for a nice place for coffee and/or food.

First of all, the food was delicious and very well priced. I took some hasty photos of the menus, but the glare from the laminate is too much to bother posting the pictures. So just as an example I'll type up a few (these are correct prices as of May 2023) - Fish & chips £11.25 All day breakfast £8.95 Bistro burger £12.95 Bacon (or sausage) bun £4.65 Toasted club sandwich £8.50 Brie & cranberry salad £7.25 (£8.65 for bacon on top) Jacket potato with cheese & beans £6.50 Latte £2.95 Large house glasses of wine also a bargain! Didn't take a pic of that side of the menu, but pretty sure they were a fiver, give or take. I ordered the hunter's chicken special with chips and side salad, and the other half ordered the giant fish finger sandwich. Both were *delicious*. The chunks of whole battered fish in the sandwich were almost satsuma sized. My chicken was cooked through but still tender and juicy. The service is the only thing that made me knock points off. The staff we interacted with were absolutely lovely! But it was just SO slow. The bistro is very clear that everything is fresh cooked, and that food may take a while. That's fine, we weren't in a rush for the food. But our drinks didn't come for ages, and prior to that, no one took our order for ages either. We also cleaned our own table of dirty cutlery etc by dumping it on another dirty table, and that piled up table sat there for, again, ages. The thing is - you weren't that busy! I walked through the place trying to find the wi-fi password on a blackboard somewhere, and noted that we were one of six tables. I don't understand why our drinks took 20 minutes to arrive in that scenario (it was a diet coke and a latte...). We visit this area often and you are firmly on our "visit again" list. But please, sort out the service! If the service was that slow when your place was nearly empty (and you had three separate female servers out front), I'd hate to see it busy. The food is stonking and great value for a freshly cooked meal. The service is slow, and unbearable when you're thirsty!

If you want an all day breakfast for a good price then you can't go wrong. Not gourmet food but does the job. Good service from staff and would recommend.

Wanted a delicious lunch in a relaxed atmosphere. We found this in The Priory Bistro. It was busy, but relaxing. The staff moved quickly around each table and endeavoured to make sure everybody was happy! My husband is vegan and he was extremely happy with his tasty 3 bean stew and I was ecstatic with my all day breakfast. My decaf coffee wasn’t strong enough at first, but it was swiftly exchanged with a smile. Great place in a lovely courtyard, nestling in amongst some fabulous shops. Highly recommended.

When we arrived there was only a few others in but there was a ridiculously long wait for food. The kids meal was good value and the chicken nuggets seemed to be homemade. The food was nice but we were starving by the time it came.

Visited for Sunday Lunch and our first choices for starters were not available, then we both chose the roast beef but sadly it was not as expected, the sausage meat stuffing was too salty, the Yorkshire puds although homemade were burnt, the carrots were puréed and basically only fit for a baby and the other 2 vegetable sides were so overcooked, the colour and taste had disappeared. We did decide to have dessert but once again my choice was unavailable and my husband choice of apple crumble was again a disappointment, there was plenty of apple but you needed a magnifying glass to see the crumble topping. Could not fault the waitress service though, very friendly staff.

1st time having the Sunday lunch. Food was fantastic, had the lamb shank and it was cooked perfectly. Tender and fell off the bone 🤤 Staff very friendly and helpful, i cheekily asked for some crackling even though I had the lamb and it wasn’t a problem as Emily brought us some out ☺️) Service was spot on, we Pre ordered food as there was 16 of us and came out not long after we had arrived. Emily and the other waitress (didn’t get her name) kept coming back in to check if we want more drinks etc. Will definitely be returning 😀

We visited the Priory when looking for somewhere in the area. The priory is quite small but nicely furnished and has friendly and helpful staff. The food is simple but very well done and arrived promptly. If you want good simple food then try it.

Visited today. Lovely service and food again. Would definitely recommend. Service was excellent. Went last Sunday for a lunch. We all tried the chicken, beef, pork loin dinner. Really tasty and extra veg and gravy brought out too. Hot choc deluxe with flake, cream and marshmallows was delicious. We also had lager and black, no shortage of black, which was nice. Will defo be there next Sunday. We were so full, couldn't fit in dessert.

Great place to eat. It's a nice small café located in the heart of Guisborough on Chaloner Street. It's easy access and to get to. The food is great and well worth the money. You get decent sized portion's and the atmosphere is great too, with lovely staff. I would highly recommend going here.

Excellent Bacon and Sausage sandwich this morning.

Lovely little café in the heart of Guisborough, which itself is a beautiful market town in Redcar and Cleveland. Great tasting coffee and great service to boot. Space can be quite tight if busy in the main entrance area, but plenty of side rooms with tables and chairs.

We had a lovely time! Great location for a catch up with family and friends, outstanding food & amazing service!!! We will be back for sure!! ( superb hot chocolate with cream!!)

Had lunch with my Sister here today, Been quite often, and always were very happy with the food and service, my Sisters meal the special's pasta was good but today my jacket potato was all dried up the beans with it were barely warm. Its the first time I have been disappointed, I did point out the errors to the young man who apologised and offered to get me another meal, but my Sister was almost finished her meal so I declined the offer but left nearly all of it.

Had Christmas lunch with friends at the Bistro and it was delicious, the service was fantastic as always and we felt very safe with all of the covid guidance covered.

We had been on a town history tour and 8 of us turned up for a drink. We wanted to sit outside. The waitress was amazing, brought cloths to wipe the seats and took our order then just as efficiently return with all we asked for and as we wanted yo split the bill told us how much each item was then we divided up and left a good tip too. Quite a large cafe, looks smaller on the outside. Quite busy when we visited, but the service from ordering to getting the food was reasonable quick. Orders are cooked fresh. Portions were more than adequate and very tasty.

First time that my friends & I have been out to eat together in such along time. We decided to go for Sunday lunch here as we had never been before. We certainly weren't disappointed.Pork is my favourite go to meat for Sunday lunch but sometimes I am left disappointed that it comes a little dry at some establishments. This was certainly not the case here. The pork loin was amazing, the sage & apple crust on the pork was a gorgeous bonus, well done to the person who came up with this idea, the vegetables on the plate were also cooked perfectly. We were all left very satisfied by all we ate & it was very reasonably priced.Covid rules were also important to us & the rules were stringently adhered to which was excellent to see.The staff are very friendly, polite & welcoming and we will certainly be back to try some of the other things on the menu.Well done for the excellent food, service and following government guidelines. Wish I had taken a photo to add but unfortunately I was too busy eating my gorgeous food.

went for lunch and ordered the chicken bacon brie burger and chicken bacon bowl, the chicken and bacon salad bowl was really nice, lots of chicken & black pudding although the chicken and brie burger was a bit over done yet cold brie on the burger which made the burger a bit cold, i asked for it to be melted and almost got a huff as the lad took it from me.a couple in front of us wore masks to come in but then when wandering around the cafe & going to the toilet without masks on but the staff seemed to know them so wasn’t a problem? i thought masks were mandatory until you were sat down..also when we were paying the woman was tapping the till as my nan was getting her money out and i know it’s just a little thing but seemed rushed.. if they slowed down it would be a really nice place.

It is the first time I’ve been here and will probably be the last. I’m not sure if I just chose a bad thing off the menu, but I ordered a breakfast burger which was very disappointing. The burger patty was so large it was flavourless and dry, yet managed to soak the bottom of the bread bun in oil. The sausage was so rubbery it felt it had been cooked hours ago and left to keep warm under a heater. Bacon equally disappointing. Only thing stopping it from being a 1 star was the sides- average chips, very nice salad.
