Fantastic food and great service. Never had a bad meal at Mr Wongs. Staff are lovely and always ready to have a laugh and a joke. Only one small complaint, could do with dimmer lights and some background music.

After not having visited for some time returned to find it as excellent as ever. Service was efficient and good humoured. Food is still second to none and value for money, will definitely be back and won't leave it as long next time.

You can't go wrong with Mr Wong. When it comes to the best choice of freshly prepared Chinese food for miles around.... This is it....dim sum too!!

It’s the first time in many years I’ve been here and the first time ever for my wife. The staff were very welcoming, helpful and friendly. The food was excellent with mussel having stuffed scallops as a starter and duck and cashews in a birds nest for main. My wife the meat spring rolls folles battered pork pieces with mushroom rice. There was enough rice for two of us as well. Will be happy to go there again

This is a great family run restaurant, and the staff are friendly, professional and welcoming. The food is of excellent quality with the best hot and sour soup you will taste anywhere. The menu is easy to read and I recommend the set meals at the back of the menu. If you ask they will allow you to change the main courses within reason. There is a happy hour menu for early diners. We like a variety of foods so eat here every month or so, and the food and service has been consistently excellent over many years. A “little gem” on Redcar High Street with convenient parking outside.

Wonderful food. So tasty. Very fresh. Great variety on menu. Well priced. Excellent service from the very friendly staff. Only gave 4 stars for atmosphere because we like music playing in the background when at a Chinese restaurant, but that’s just our personal preference. Got there before 8pm and had the special: starter, appetiser, main, pudding. £20 per head. Great value for money. The dishes just kept coming. Will definitely go again if in Redcar. Thanks.

Having visited this restaurant recently the staff were very unhelpful and disinterested in our custom. Drinks we required were not available at the bar. We asked if it was possible to be able to purchase some from the off licence next door or would they be able to do it and we were told no . How a business can afford to turn away custom which was worth £150 is beyond me for the sake of spending £10 on stock for the bar which we would have been happy to purchase at a higher rate from them . Definitely on to give a miss. We are here regularly and they will never receive our custom.

Visiting the local area and really fancying a nice Chinese meal, my companion and I travelled a few miles to Mister Wong's. Staff were lovely but what we were immediately drawn to were notices posted around the restaurant about paying for food and drink at the point of order. We queried this and were told that some customers had 'made off' without payment but we were assured that we could pay at the point of departure which we did. It presents as a popular restaurant but to be fair we were underwhelmed by the food offering which in our case were less than warm and somewhat greasy. The menu takes some fathoming if you arrive pre the end of 'happy hour' which ends at 8pm. It was 'ok' but not somewhere where my companion and I would visit again.

Excellent food,lovely place and very professional service. They should be proud of the value of the quality of the food and service at the price they charge. Superb evening with genuinely nice people. See you again next time we are in town.

Had such a lovely time: really nice restaurant, great staff, fantastic food (especially the crab & sweetcorn soup and also the char siu in BBQ sauce). Highly recommended!

Poor Lucky to get 1 with ribs just about saving it. The special fried rice is an all meat dish think was vegetarian! The price was shocking given state of the place and the Prawn crackers looked embarrassed to be there No idea where people normally eat scoring a 5 but don’t eat takeout from here

1st time trying Mr Wongs takeaway. Seriously tasty Chinese food. Quite amazing actually. Selection of appetisers is a bit of a 'mystery', as they are nowhere named on the menu, 🤔 but at £10 we thought we'd give them a try. Wow! Delicious spare ribs in sauce, hot chicken drummers and spicy King Prawns were fab! Mains: Ginger and pineappple chicken with fried rice was so good and the House Chow Mein just great. We will be using this place as our regular Chinese now

Best Chinese cuisine in town. We had a lovely family meal together at Mr Wong’s. We have been several times this year. We live 350 miles away, but always make an effort to drop in when we are near Redcar. The service is just outstanding...the food is first class...we love everything about the place...

Mr Wong's is my favourite chinese restaurant and takeaway, the food is very tasty, plenty of meat in the dishes, the fried rice is lovely without being greasy. The prices are good and the staff are very friendly, nothing is too much trouble. They also offer a teatime special if eating in, 2 courses for ten pounds, very affordable for families. Would recommend.

Large portions of beautifully cooked food, chosen from an extensive menu. Great wine too...and from cut glass wine glasses. Shame this place is 100 miles from home!! Otherwise it would be a regular haunt.

Went to this restaurant for dinner one evening on the recommendation of a friend who said it was really excellent. We had moved up from the South of England where we had a choice of any number of Chinese restaurants, most of which were very good indeed so it was against these that we judged Mr Wong's. I have to say that we found the food, and the service, very average but perhaps we caught them on a bad day! We have not been back since so maybe we should give them another try.

Really good prompt and friendly service. We have not been here for a while but will go more often now.

Had not been to Mr Wongs for a number of years. On this visit I found that in my opinion the place was looking a bit tired. That said, I found that the service was good and the food was cooked to perfection. The staff were pleasant and welcoming.

We have been coming to Mr Wong’s on and off for all of its 24 year history, but we hadn’t been in a while. With 8 of the family gathered for a wedding we decided a Chinese dinner would be a good evening out and on this occasion Mr Wong certainly didn’t disappoint! The staff were friendly, professional and flexible about us changing some of the dishes on the set menu. The food was hot, tasty and all of a good standard. Soup, a selection of starters, crispy duck and main courses are all included in the £20 price - no one was going to walk away hungry! If there was a tiny criticism it would be that the soup and some off the sauces were a little too thick from cornflour for some tastes, but still delicious. So don’t be put off by the exterior and enjoy what must be the best Chinese locally.

don,t be put off by the shabby external appearance inside this restaurant is clean, tidy and welcoming, we started with hot n sour soup which was one of the best i have ever had and the spring rolls were very tasty but the main courses are worth every penny a must try are the mussels and the house special black bean, drinks are reasonable at £3.50 a pint and the staff could,nt do enough for us ...meal came to £75 for 3 people 3 courses with drinks ..highly recommended

Being chinese myself I know how it should taste like and what is too salty or too much msg. Mr. Wong’s food is prepared with care and ideas to suit our expectation. They get their ingredients daily and get the best kind. It was a wonderful meal and we strongly recommend this place.

The food was lovely with very generous portions (one bowl of soup would have easily served the two of us) and great service. There was no rushing us and even though they weren't busy we got the impression that was normal for them. The decor is a little dated and the toilets weren't the nicest but don't let that put you off. We thought it was reasonable too; less than £60 for 4 courses and drinks.

Not been in years and it was still the same place, same faces and same food and no complaints about any of it ☺

Mr Wong’s has been in Redcar for over 20 years I can remember it opening but in all that time I have never had a meal there, as it was my sister and brother in law’s anniversary thought we would take them out for a meal so if Mr Wong’s is still there after 20 years then it can’t be too bad.

Went to Mr. Wongs spontaneously on a Saturday evening as we felt like having some Chinese food. We were quite hungry so decided to go for spring rolls and spare ribs as a starter. Spring rolls and ribs were perfect and we simply loved it....

Fue verdaderamente el peor Chino que he probado, no sé si fue porque fuimos un lunes por la noche, pero la comida me recordaba cosas congeladas que comprar, poner en el congelador y cocinar como comida de fiesta. El Limón Pollo y correoso, la gristley pelotas dulce y agria pollo empanada y no eran de pollo. Todo lo que sabía tan grasienta nos hicieron sentir enfermo. Este restaurante solía ser muy bueno, una pena, nunca volveremos. No quiero darle una estrella.

Un días en coche y buscamos un takaway. Encontramos el Sr. Wong por accidente. Excelente comida y personal amable. Cuando volvamos a Redcar sin duda usar el restaurante. Tengo ganas de visitar pronto.

This is used to be great, I am regular and rated it 5 stars last time however things have changed. The service is now slow and the food is poor compared to past time.

We often get takeaways from here but also sometimes eat in. I've never had a bad meal in many years of coming here, it is always outstanding! The staff are always attentive and nothing is too much trouble. Excellent value for money. Can't recommend this place enough - you will not be disappointed!

I always use Mister Wongs for takeaway but we recently visited for a family meal. We all ordered from the Happy Hour menu which was great value and included soup, starters, duck and pancakes, plus a main course and dessert. All of the food was delicious and just as good quality as it always is from the takeaway. The staff were very friendly and attentive.

We all chose different dishes and all of us were very pleased with the quality and quantity of our dishes. There is an early evening menu with quite a few dishes to choose from and an al a carte which has so many variations that we were spoilt for choice.

Met friends here fir a catch up. We were made to feel so welcome and the staff seemed to know what we needed before we did! We decided to go with a set meal option for our party of eight. The food was exceptional. Seafood soup was followed by delicious bubbles including prawns and chicken. After that we devoured a mountain of crispy duck with all of the trimmings. We had eight mains to choose from along with a giant bowl of special fried rice. So so tasty. We enjoyed the whole evening and would recommend any time.
