Lemongrass Thai Cuisine in Redcar and Cleveland

Popped in this wee gem as was in the local for business - was not disappointed . Dine in was excellent. Food excellent. Staff - good and not over attentive. I dont give staff excellent ratings. They get that in there tip !

Food was excellent, big portions, made fresh and happy to cater to dietary requirements. Great value for money. Waitresses were attentive, cannot fault service or atmosphere in any way. Would recommend and would return!

Dish described as egg fried rice was just boiled rice seasoned yellow. No egg and not fried. Chicken fried rice was more like a chicken broth with rice. Wet, sloppy and the entire thing tasted strongly of chicken stock cubes.

Delivered fast but the food was terrible. Slimy, poorly cooked and the whole dish tasted like chicken stock cube. Maybe it's better if you sit in...

First time experience. Negatives : a cheese cake no bigger than when ud get, 3 for 1.50 in aldi, was 4.95. I understand it's a restraunt and if it was home made, then yes, but baught in small round cheese cake for 4.95, not good value nor good product, need to improve desert section and give bigger portions and maybe, home made and higher price,make it a dessert worth shouting about. Drinks in fridge not cold, fridge no working, standard in it really, have a fridge tht works to give folks cold drinks, paying high price, for a warm drink, to then be watered down with ice, as to make it cold. : glass bottled cola. Positives. Well, every thing was very good, the sirloin was succulent, tasty, the crispy chicken dish, very good, noodles very good, and a very popular chicken stir fry, very good but, lacked spice, so was canny flat but, touch of slice on it or, add more to it, perfect. 2 young ladies serving, polite, good job. Young guy serving, asked him for a cola, he said OK, he only had 1 table to serve, cone back n do it, got side tracked and didnt bring, a cola. Pretty unusual, we definitely communicated, eye to eye, and it was bypassed. After all that, think it was around 63£, in terms of value, I'd say about 7/8 out 10, also to note, stir fry and tiger sizzler steak dish had alot of vegetables, food was colourful, tasty but, lack of spice, very flat, but presented well, tasted well. I can't t recall any authentic music either, these are simple touches, music, a fridge that works and better deserts. Good luck, cheers

Dissapointed tasted microwaved was very quick delivery prawns were chewy not nice at all.

This was our third visit to Lemon Grass and have enjoyed the food here. However, after ordering our mains they seemed to forget us. This was the case when I enquired about this to be told we were forgotten and their idea of an apology was to offer us some shots. We were all driving and are not teenagers so shots was inaproppriate. At almost £60 per head you think the bare minimum is to remember their customers are in their restaurant. With the huge choice of Thai in the local area we are done with this one.

I came here quite by accident, but it was a nice culinary experience. Tasty food, good beer, impeccable service. I would recommend it to travelers to Redcar, although the town itself was disappointing.

Pad Thai lovely, spring rolls really poor, bought in frozen jobs not worth the money, would still recommend apart from spring rolls.

Had a lovely meal off the special menu for Mondays between 5pm and 7pm the food was great and the price was fantastic. Well recommended.

Not the standard we have previously received . Chips were undercooked (hard in the middle and lukewarm warm), other food was over cooked. One of the dips had spilt inside the bag. Delivery was extremely slow.

Absolutely gorgeous, worth every penny! Arrived hot, on time and very tasty, made with fresh ingredients. Perfect!

Expensive for what it was. My duck was tough and dry. Really enjoyed the sauce it was in and the rice was good although it came in a bag which was a little odd.

Worst Tom Yum I’ve ever laid eyes on, Pad Thai was ok.

I cannot genuinely leave a review for the food as i have sadly never tasted it but i really must leave a review as i experienced such fantastic service from this restuarant tonight i wanted to share. I live in Wales, tonight i was hungry and was advised to try the new Thai takeaway down the road from me called Lemongrass. Very excited at the prospect i googled the name found a website and preceeded to place my order for collection, having placed my order and approved my payment i suddenly realised that in my haste to get my delicious Thai meal i had placed an order in a restaurant 287 miles away. Immediately, and rather embarrassed i rang the restaurant and explained my stupid error and was expecting them to tell me there is nothing they can do about it and that having spent my takeaway money on a delicious Thai curry nearly 300 miles away tonights dinner was going to be beans on toast. However what i experienced was a delightful young lady who didnt think i was a total wally, who did everything she could to try and cancel my order and eventually bank transferred me back my money all in all only took her about 10 mins start to finish and was so lovely and paitent she was wonderful to deal with. If i am ever in Redcar this will be the first place i visit!

Fantastic place serving really good food, all food was good but wife had a mixed seafood dish that was 2 chili's hot, not due exactly what is was but it was outstanding!!!

Beautiful food great gluten free options soup was coffee not so much .Staff could not have been better.We will be back.Had tea time special.

Without a doubt the best thai takeaway I've ever eaten! Ordered Masaman Chicken, Chicken Penang and Chicken Tom Kha Kai soup and not a single drop was left as it was so tasty. I even messed up the order and the staff kindly corrected it for me. They genuinely care about your order, are exceptionally sweet and even brought the order out to my car! Thank you 😊

Well, lemongrass has modernised into the 21st century we discovered on this visit. We haven't been for a short while. Possibly since just before Christmas. The place has a cosier feel and the staff are friendly and helpful as always. I fancied a change from my usual dish so ordered the Chu Chee. The taste was absolutely lovely and would definitely have it again. It definitely needed more veg in it though and the 5 prawns that came with it were tiny. To reflect competitor dishes, it needs decent sized tiger prawns and a couple more in there. My boyfriends green curry tasted different than it usually does but he still enjoyed it and got plenty with it. Lemongrass, Thai Basil in Skipton, and Rim Nam Thai in Hebden Bridge are my favourite thai restaurants. Keep up the amazing tasting dishes with plenty of veg and don't change the prices lol 😁

We visit Lemongrass on a regular basis and are never disappointed. The food is lovely, the service is good and the staff are very friendly.

Collection time initially changed by 10 minutes soon after booking which is fine. I arrived to collect the food at the allocated time and was told 5 more minutes. I was then stood waiting for almost 25 minutes for the order to be ready, with no update or apology within this time

Lovely dinning experience, with delightful staff, excellent food, and ambience. Nicely decorated, and a good selection to choose from on the menu. Loved the dinning table cover. Napkins wonderfully folded. Most important though food was hot and delicious.

Great friendly service, explained/advised in detail on dishes not sure of. Loved the fact there was no over powering music, you could hear your conversation without shouting. Tables well spaced and not squashed back to back. Food was Excellent! and Hot (temperature) to the end. HIGHLY RECOMMEND (prices good too)

Lovely food and great portion sizes

Believe it or not this restaurant just saved my life in such a cold, dark and hungry autumn night. I, a traveler knows nobody, found this restaurant and walked in without reservation and they had seat available for me and served delicious dishes with a price very acceptable. The curry (dish number 25) was especially good and it made my whole day. I would definitely recommend it to everyone traveling to Redcar.

Odd one this but I find the service *too* efficient. Much too fast for me. The meals are great and reasonable price too. The staff do genuinely listen to feedback which is refreshing. Well worth a visit.

Arrived 8.20pm last night 11th only 3 tables 5 people seated and ordered a takeaway, handed in good time. Starters Fish cake, prwn cracker ok, chicken satay was rubbery and lamb ribs under cooked and tough. Main: coco sticky rice great, chicken massaman and pad Thai, fragrant rice ok - not great. Noodles like a block of overcooked starch, beef jungle tough as rubber minute steak & watery, beef salad good taste but same minute steak tough. Chicken stir fry watery and rubbery chicken. Overall £77 with 20% off and was first and only visit, very poor takeaway.

Cannot fault this place. 5☆ service all round.

We ate here on Sunday 17/9 on the recommendation of the hosts of our excellent B&B, Red Barns. The restaurant facade is a bit care worn and slightly off putting but we really enjoyed the early bird supper menu. All dishes can be made to chilli heat required- two 🌶️ was definitely our upper limit! Must mention the staff who were very knowledgeable, helpful and charming. Thank you.

The food and the service were wonderful. 3 of us dining and we all had delicious starters and main courses. The flavours were outstanding in all the dishes they were presented with care in a selection of beautiful dishes. It is about 40 mins drive for us but will be returning very soon.

Never had Thai food before and as we are on holiday and was looking for something different and please to say it was amazing . it just a pity we are away

The food was really nice. The portion size of the rice was not good for the price, the dish was also poorly portion sized with vegetables that you expect from a Thai.

Google says that it's in a range of £10-20. Nope. More like 25-35. The servise is chaotic and amateurish. Luck of staff training. The food is OK, but their spiciness marks on the menu misleading. It's hotter than you expect. Don't go for ice cream! Its overpriced, terrible, cheap-tasting one and smells like an old fridge.

Don't know what to say, been here a few times and it was amazing but today we got 6 items and they where all disgusting and i mean i spat it all back out, my son was the same, gone right down hill

Have been a few times to the Lemon Grass in Redcar. The food is always of an excellent quality. Service is very efficient and food is delivered quickly.

Lovely authentic Thai restaurant with very welcoming staff. The food is amazing and can be altered to your taste if you wish as it is all cooked fresh. Prices are more than reasonable nowadays along with the drinks. Will definitely go again 😃

Food was delicious as always however not enough tofu in both the meals we ordered compared to the chicken one we ordered. All amazing food however and quick delivery!

Really enjoyed our meal My wife is vegan so the waitress was most helpful and got to choose the right meal which she enjoyed I also enjoyed what I ordered. My only moan was that I would like have had more! Definitely one of the highlights our our trip to Redcar

This was by far the most disappointing ‘jungle curry’ we have ever had. Usually when we eat in the restaurant the food is fabulous. This was just watery flavourless poor food. It was literally hot water with meat and a few veggies definitely not worth £ 24.00. I’ve been telling people to try Lemon Grass- never again ….

Really pleasant restaurant. Phad kra prao not as hot as I'm used to, but i didn't ask for Thai hot. Had better chicken satay. Otherwise very good. Will be back.

Delicious food great vegan selection

We came to this restaurant on 08/06/23 and I am so pleased we did. Once you enter it is a very friendly welcoming atmosphere. The staff were lovely and smiling which is always a good sign. We ordered a sharing starter and then I had pad thai and hubby had mixed seafood panang with sticky rice. We shared a bottle of wine and finished this amazing meal off with a liquer coffee (Irish for hubby, cointreau for me). Wasnt too expensive eitherr. Would recommend anyone who is in redcar to visit this place.

Living a 5-hour drive away, we can only get up to this restaurant twice a year when we go visit a friend of ares. Without a question of a doubt, we do have to eat here every time we come up here! Why? Well the service & welcome you will receive is second to none, your made to feel very welcome & relaxed. The atmosphere is what you make of it with places like this, but it does help with the modern Thai feel & the Asian music playing. As you can see from my photos, the menu is extensive & has something for everyone. The food is authentic Thai cuisine all cooked to whatever spice level you want. As a special treat, they serve yellow coco sticky rice, this is what you can see in the bowl in the photo with the green Thai curry, I can't seem to find this in any Thai restaurant near me! So what we had to eat here tonight: For starters; I went for the Mueg Kob Ped, This is the crispy squid, Thai style (of course) with cashew nuts, chilli & spring onion. £5.95 I'm often a bit reserved about going for squid at places I don't go to regularly due to it being too chewy or a bit old & a little too fragrant if you know what I mean, but this crispy squid was blimmin lovely, done exactly what it said on the tin! Crispy crunchy light batter to bite into followed by firm but not chewy squid inside & the taste was real good, not too fishy but also not bland! A lovely light dish perfect a starter. My wife went for the Pak shup pang tod, This is the tempura mixed vegetables, so basically deep-fried vegetables in tempura batter, served with Thai sweet chilli sauce. It might sound like a odd dish but believe me I've had this before myself & it is the perfect way to eat vegetables lol, ok not the healthiest but definitely the best way to get your 5 a day! Again, even with this dish being deep fried, it is actually still a light dish with very fine tempura batter & a great starter. £5:50. For the main dishes; I went for the gang keaw wan, This is the green Thai curry cooked with coconut milk, courgettes, aubergines, fine beans, mixed peppers & fresh basil. This is naturally one of their spicy curries with a lovely addictive kick to it! I had mine with chicken & tiger King prawn, both proteins cooked perfectly. It was a very good green curry cooked well with balanced flavours, but as a personal preference, I would have liked a bit more fish sauce or shrimp paste for that saltiness. The wife went for the Massaman chicken curry, which is cooked in coconut milk with potatoes, onions and peanuts. She was a good girl & let me try a bit for reviewing purposes of course, hehe, As traditional as it comes for a massaman, mild Thai curry dish in a thick sauce, a very balanced dish with great flavours, and the addition of the potatoes & peanuts do compliment the dish so well. Are friend who we had with us went for the chicken panang what is a spicy thick & creamy red curry, cooked with coconut milk, flavoured with chilli & lime leaves. I've got to be honest I didn't get to try this as I didn't have the courage to ask him if I could eat some of his meal! But on a positive side he said it was lovely & would definitely have it again! Plus, he doesn't eat big meals, so he asked if he could have a half portion, what was no problem at all for them to do & it went as a half portion on the bill, what to be honest about I maybe wasn't expecting, so good on ya Lemon Grass!! The Puddings: Me & the wife went for the coconut ice cream served in half a real coconut. This was a lovely refreshing pud, just what we needed after the starters & means. The ice cream tasted good & not the cheap tasteless crap plus it had the desiccated coconut in it for that taste & texture. Are friend went for the chocolate pudding with chocolate sauce & ice cream, wow that was a big slice of heaven! & he ante it all! Said he can't eat alot & only got half portion for main, now I know why, he was saving himself for the finale!!!! As you can see from photo, it did look absolutely delicious & I may have to try it next time we come up & visit Redcar. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Id give it 3.5 stars. Some food nice, others tastless. Seafood was good. Some staff give you bad looks when with young children even when in that apparently dedicated area.

The first time that we have been to Lemon Grass. We arrived to a great warm welcome. Very friendly people working here and the food was delicious and great value.

Absolutely lovely food BUT portion sizes were very small, especially for the price. Tiniest portion of sticky rice so wasn’t enough for the curry.

Honestly can't believe how good the food here is. The best Thai food I've eaten outside of Thailand, and in a very unassuming looking restaurant. The Fish Jungle Curry had real depth of flavour and the Chilli Papaya Salad was sweet, sour and sharp. Everything tasted fresh and you could taste the individual flavours of the spices. Bat none, everyone at our table was impressed. The only criticism would be that the place was large and quiet - it needs more customers in order to get that atmosphere that you're looking for - but they're not dropping a star for that!
